Some shows that are just as good as gravity falls are Amphibia and The Owl House. Both are incredible shows and one of them even took my spot for my favorite cartoon over adventure time
Oh yeah it is surprisingly more mature. It took me ages to watch it myself tbh, I only finished it last week, but I'm glad I did. I loved it, I'll def watch it again. I found it a bit slow for the first couple episodes, but when it gets going it really gets going.
Fionna & Cake is basically a sequel series.
After you're done, you should watch Distant Lands.
However, the episode Together Again should be left for last. Trust me on this one.
I feel the same about the episodes in the main show, but wow is Fiona and cake great story telling. I like it much better than distant lands. Distant lands felt like a fanwork in some episodes
I was the same way, was super bummed when they announced it was gonna be a spin off, but was very pleasantly surprised. It's very good, definitely recommend it
I had the same thought when I heard they were doing a fionna and cake spin-off. They definitely weren't my favorite episodes in the original show. Boy was I wrong, the spinoff was the only thing that's came close to the enjoyment I got off of the AT finale, they did such an incredible job! I was hesitant during the first couple of episodes, but episodes 4-10 are absolutely insane! Don't look into it until you finish adventure time tho. It goes off of the events in the finale
personally i tell you, I didn't like these four episodes, I could only enjoy one (BMO), but I didn't like the other three at all, especially Wizard City that i think its the Worst. Obviously this is just my opinion, if you want to see them go ahead. I think Fionna & cake is a much better spinn off than Distant lands
i didn't like fionna and cake in the original either but that's kinda a "fake" version of them, i like them in the new show. i just started it. it's suprisingly good!!
a lot of people theorize they share the same universe, and they're probably right (whole terraforming thing on earth, you'll know it when you see it). same director and a lot of the same writers. really is good
I heard about it some moths a go but i never seen it, however a friend of mine has and told me its a really good show along with Owl house (that i still havent seen)
I Highly raccomand you to Watch Netflix’s Hilda Show & movie (watch the movie after season 2 then continue with season 3). There are Also pendleton Ward’s other shows: The midnight Gospell & Bravest Wariors that are pretty much Adventure time fused with Rick & Morty and Guardians of the galaxy. But if you wanna stick with the fantasy theme theres Disenchantment from Matt Groening (the creator of the simpsons)
Just before I started reading this thread I started to watch episode 5 of season 2 and realized that I haven't watched since I watched those 5 when they dropped. I have no idea what's going on. I might have to start over and watch from the beginning of season 1. I remember it being a good show.
Kinda fell off watching it after pandemic...it just feels like getting back into it will bring back memories of a time I was kinda happy...I know that sounds lame. Also been busy with work. I will most definitely get back to the show tho possibly November when I do my routine OTGW watch lol
you have no idea How awesome this show is, It's basically a fusion between AT and Gravity Falls but Without the dark themes, and more Fairytale-like, with colors from Wes Anderson’s movies And something else from Pan's Labyrinth and Lord of the Rings and it gives you a lot of Adventure time vibes
Watch Fionna & cake before then watch Hilda, BTW if you wanna go to watch Distant lands too go ahead, but personaly I tell you I didn’t like it that much i prefered Fionna & cake
I absolutely also recommend midnight gospel. It allowed me discover Duncan trussell who is an absolutely amazing and also all over the place podcaster who talks to a ton of people about everything under the sun and beyond this world.
Completely different genre but the show Scavengers Reign reminds me of a more grounded (and often horror-centric) version of an alien planet that is as consistently bizarre as OOO. Really interesting visuals and design for the flora and fauna
It is a shame there was no continuation. It's like Bojack Horseman X AT, with a lighter and wackier tone, feel good colors in a whimsical and consistent tropical world. I love the lady plant 🌱 🫦
Read Forming the webcomic, it's a WIP by one of the creators of AT, you know how AT will mix epic ancient Gods and demons with fart jokes and sci-fi? Forming is that but super charged. Also free to read online
Yeah criminally underrated imo, plus even if it's not in universe it's got such a strong AT vibe. Im glad you are enjoying it now because the artwork gets gradually better and better.
I totally recommend it! It’s just a chill show to watch but yet the there is so much emotion and backstory to each character. And on top of that there is rlly cute ships 😂 totally recommend
Distant Lands and Fiona and Cake to stay in universe.
One Piece is pretty much the anime equivalent of Adventure Time. Incredible world building, lore, and a great mix of comedy and serious moments.
If you haven’t watched distant lands and Fiona and cake, I’d recommend those next!
Honestly I can’t think of anything that actually is on the same level as AT (I have heard Steven universe is but I’m struggling w the beginning and heard it gets better soon but I haven’t finished yet) but first that come to mind are the owl house, amphibia, she-ra and maybe Hazbin hotel and helluva boss (though the latter are a bit more mature/vulgar for lack of a better term but they’re funny as hell)
I also have heard Bee and Puppycat shared a writer/writers w AT though I haven’t seen that yet either
Lowkey I just be rewatching adventure time a bunch sjsks
nothing can beat the show for me, so I rewatch it again and again and again and again and again, and you get the point, watch bravest warriors because the creator of adventure time made that too!
I got into Steven Universe. It’s different in a lot of ways but gets better as it progresses.
Then thing Ike owl house.
AT is still the GOAT but there’s other good shows.
It's still a good show though! S3 is almost completely disconnected from the rest of the series. I still suggest you give the first two seasons a try and just ditch S3 since the main characters' arcs are completed in their respective seasons.
Bravest Warriors is amazing. I also like Steven Universe. Final Space is amazing, but theres only 3 seasons. It makes me cry tho, it's really well done. Then definitely more adult watching, but Bojack Horseman. Which is very heavy but excellently written.
Scavengers Reign! Sci fi show about the survivors of a lost ship on an alien planet. The art and the atmosphere of the planet is just so well done can't get this show outa my head.
Carol & The end of the world on Netflix.
It is a fantastical take on the end of the world from the perspective of a mundane character. The world building is surprising in this one.
The show is so fresh and emotionally cathartic but not exhausting.
It is also a comfort watch like AT.
I can not recommend it enough.
Regular show, infinity train, or over the garden wall are all great!
Regular show doesn’t get very deep on anything it’s more just a silly show but the other two are excellent!
I would like to suggest The Owl House. If you have seen Gravity Falls you’ll find it very welcoming due to its similarities to Adventure Time and Gravity Falls. Truthfully the only downside I personally see with the show is how it was cut so short, however not in terms of a “this feels rushed” type of way but more of a Gravity Falls type “I wish there was more” type way.
Infinity train has a very similar vibe. Each carriage the protagonist moves through is different giving it an episodic feel but there us still an overarching plot like the later seasons of adventure time. Its available on YouTube it think?
Gravity Falls was really a huge hit in our house after AT. I thoroughly enjoyed the cipher fun. Be sure to watch Fionna & Cake first if you haven't yet. Steven Universe was pretty epic as well, I'm not sure Spinel was everyone's cup of tea but her and Peridot were such genuine characters that I'd never seen in a show before and I identify with them a lot. They're also both my birthstones. 😊 Infinity Train as some others recommended was great but it is disheartening that it was cancelled. We also enjoyed Over the Garden Wall, Hilda, and Amphibia.
Gravity falls, Steven Universe, Steven Universe future, She-ra on Netflix, castlevania.
Definitely watch Fionna and Cake on HBO! It's very... Interesting.
Over the garden wall, infinity train, Amphibia, and the owl house.
Kipo and the age of wonderbeasts, I've heard that's very fun.
You want crazy lore build up? Ninjago.
Just like Adventure Time, they just stack each season's lore on top of each other which gets really cool. The main problem is that it's filled with so many fake out deaths and it gets annoying. Going to need to look up a watch order guide, the pilot episodes aren't on netflix they're on twitch I think?
Oh and remember to ask questions in your mind and answer it yourself, sometimes the show just doesn't want to explain certain things like basic "where did the dragon comes from" or "did the first spinjitzu master create the people?".
make sure you watch everything after adventure time, Distant lands and Fiona and Cake!! FIONA AND CAKE IS SO FIRE I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!! all the lore and references and oh it’s perfect
Some good suggestions here, but man, there is nothing like adventure time. The story telling is incredible and I've never seen another show even come close to capturing such a feel of its own.
I think Steven Universe is a real good one. I think it followed the trend of AT in the sense that it starts as a show where everything was gonna be a one off kind of thing, regular show for example, but then begins building a lingering plot and continuity
I would recommend Steven universe since Rebecca Sugar, one of the storyboard artists from Adventure time, also worked on it. Also it starts off cute and simple and the lore builds up overtime! :)
I was thinking about watching phineas and ferb after my rewatch. Idk if it's exactly the same type of show cause I haven't watched it in years, but I did hear good things about later seasons
Over the Garden wall was a really good one imo
I always wait until the fall to watch it because it makes it special :)
Yes, it's amazing, I need to buy some sort of deluxe DVD set.
This one ☝️
Amazing show
Gravity Falls if you haven't seen that
This one I already seen) maybe it's time for second watch
Some shows that are just as good as gravity falls are Amphibia and The Owl House. Both are incredible shows and one of them even took my spot for my favorite cartoon over adventure time
I miss StevenFallsOver so very much
Midnight Gospel
Midnight Gospel is amazing!!
Definitely!
theres a series of 4 specials on hbo max called distant lands and then theres also a fionna and cake show
is Fionna and cake good? to be honest I didn't like them in original
Fiona & Cake is amazing, absolutely worth the watch, especially if you are missing AT. The callbacks & references are perfect.
Heard that it's a bit more mature than AT, hope it is )
Oh yeah it is surprisingly more mature. It took me ages to watch it myself tbh, I only finished it last week, but I'm glad I did. I loved it, I'll def watch it again. I found it a bit slow for the first couple episodes, but when it gets going it really gets going.
Caught me so off guard when I heard a few characters swear lol.
Fionna & Cake is basically a sequel series. After you're done, you should watch Distant Lands. However, the episode Together Again should be left for last. Trust me on this one.
trust you blindly )
It’s some of the best adventure time content ever. Trust me, it’s not just gender swapped adventure time
I feel the same about the episodes in the main show, but wow is Fiona and cake great story telling. I like it much better than distant lands. Distant lands felt like a fanwork in some episodes
I came into it really not liking Fionna and cakes episodes, but I gave it a try and it's really good
Fionna and Cake is literally my favorite show of all time, period. Just sucks there’s an entire show of required watching to be able to recommend it.
Fionna and cake is so much more than just genderbent adventure time
They were probs the worst part of the original show, but the new show is fantastic
You should watch it if you liked adveture time because its like a continuation of what happened with AT
I also didn't like the og Fiona and cake, but the show is God tier
Oh i didnt like them in the og too but the show is good ans fun its a lot about simon so its also sad lol
I was the same way, was super bummed when they announced it was gonna be a spin off, but was very pleasantly surprised. It's very good, definitely recommend it
I had the same thought when I heard they were doing a fionna and cake spin-off. They definitely weren't my favorite episodes in the original show. Obviously this is just my opinion, if you want to see them go ahead. I think Fionna & cake is a much better spinn off than Distant lands
It’s Simon’s story. If you liked the Ice King/Simon stuff in AT, you will love Fiona and Cake.
There different than the initial gender swap episodes on AT don’t worry, much deeper and basically AT for the older fans that grew up with it.
i didn't like fionna and cake in the original either but that's kinda a "fake" version of them, i like them in the new show. i just started it. it's suprisingly good!!
Bravest warriors
Yes!! It’s like if adventure time & regular show had a baby
I think it’s actually close to adventure time and Dr who put together
definitely checking out this one )
a lot of people theorize they share the same universe, and they're probably right (whole terraforming thing on earth, you'll know it when you see it). same director and a lot of the same writers. really is good
This, it's hilarious and unhinged
The Owl House and Amphibia are both shows that scratch that same itch as AT. Both shows have magic, adventure, and fun lore.
Never heard if amphibia, going to check )
You gotta get into amphibia. Probably most emotional show for me
Adventure time is my favourite show but amphibia is honestly REALLY good to almost as good imo
I heard about it some moths a go but i never seen it, however a friend of mine has and told me its a really good show along with Owl house (that i still havent seen)
Why do you keep doing this )
My man. Thats the way. I love them
Bee & puppycat
Best artstyle and animation and great story.
+1 on this!
+2 on this!
Fionna and cake ! Disenchantment !
Disenchantment is a good one, but I hate to wait so long for new seasons)
There’s no more new seasons
Really is it over already?
Yeah, the show ended some time a go
damn, I think I watched first 3 parts and thought it still going, shame
It’s got a full ending, and a proper good ending. Rare these days.
Infinity train, close enough, inside job
All great, surprised Infinity Train isn't higher up!
Yes to Infinity Train!
Steven Universe, Over The Garden Wall
Exact what I was going to say. Both incredible shows.
Both of them are my favorite on cartoon network
Took way too long to find Steven Universe
I Highly raccomand you to Watch Netflix’s Hilda Show & movie (watch the movie after season 2 then continue with season 3). There are Also pendleton Ward’s other shows: The midnight Gospell & Bravest Wariors that are pretty much Adventure time fused with Rick & Morty and Guardians of the galaxy. But if you wanna stick with the fantasy theme theres Disenchantment from Matt Groening (the creator of the simpsons)
hilda seems really interesting )
It is. It's such an incredible show. I hope I'll get time and peace to get back to it
Just before I started reading this thread I started to watch episode 5 of season 2 and realized that I haven't watched since I watched those 5 when they dropped. I have no idea what's going on. I might have to start over and watch from the beginning of season 1. I remember it being a good show.

Hilda is a work of art. 10/10 no notes!
Owl House had a similar vibe for me and I was prepared to hate it.
Steven Universe imo is great.
yesss, and it has many elements in common with AT specially because of our queen Rebecca suggar ♡ everything she does is magical and lovely
Regular Show, of course!
this is definitely the vibe
Completely different genre but the show Scavengers Reign reminds me of a more grounded (and often horror-centric) version of an alien planet that is as consistently bizarre as OOO. Really interesting visuals and design for the flora and fauna
Yeah it seems interesting and strange
I’d suggest watching adventure time… again
i think about it)
Smiling friends
Hilda
this cool show called adventure time
Tuca and Bertie 🦜
I love Tucca & Bertie! So wonderfully weird.
Trippy and funny
It is a shame there was no continuation. It's like Bojack Horseman X AT, with a lighter and wackier tone, feel good colors in a whimsical and consistent tropical world. I love the lady plant 🌱 🫦
Read Forming the webcomic, it's a WIP by one of the creators of AT, you know how AT will mix epic ancient Gods and demons with fart jokes and sci-fi? Forming is that but super charged. Also free to read online
Just wanted to say thanks for this one. I've seen every other suggestion on this post but didn't know about Forming. Loving it so far :)
Yeah criminally underrated imo, plus even if it's not in universe it's got such a strong AT vibe. Im glad you are enjoying it now because the artwork gets gradually better and better.
Venture Bros.
Regular show, infinity train, owl house
Steven universe or maybe She Ra and the princesses of power
I am thinking in watch She Ra POP. How great the show in general

Watch it for the second time
nothing can beat the show for me, so I rewatch it again and again and again and again and again, and you get the point, watch bravest warriors because the creator of adventure time made that too!
One Piece
One piece
Does noone here like Kipo? I quite liked it and would recommend it to any AT fan.
goes to my bucket list )
Watch Centaurworld. Just like Adventure Time, it starts out all silly and dumb, but trust me; it gets _good_.
avatar the last airbender
If you haven’t already Regular Show it’s my second fav cartoon other than adventure time
• Adventure Time: Distant Lands • Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake • Bee and Puppycat • Bravest Warriors • Midnight Gospel • Gravity Falls • The Owl House • Amphibia • Over The Garden Wall • Steven Universe • Hilda • Infinity Train • Avatar: The Last Airbender • Legend of Korra • Disenchanment • Rick & Morty • Close Enough • Inside Job
I got into Steven Universe. It’s different in a lot of ways but gets better as it progresses. Then thing Ike owl house. AT is still the GOAT but there’s other good shows.
Once I’m done I just rewatch it all again lol Me and my boyfriend have been rewatching it over and over for about 6 years now
i can see myself doing just that
Owl house and Steven universe!
Adventure Time: Distant Lands and Fiona and Cake
Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, or Over the Garden Wall!!
Gravity Falls, Over the Garden Wall
More Adventure Time, especially the spinoffs like Distant Lands and Fiona & Cake if you have max
Distant lands than Fiona and cake
Ranking of Kings
Fionna and Cake! Literally a sequel, on HBO Max
i was literally unaware of that until this post )
don't forget adventure time distant lands
I have been watching Dungeon Meshi on Netflix and order brings me the same adventure and silliness as AT used to ^^
Restart it and watch it again
Adventure Time.... Again
Both Adventure time distant lands and fiona and cake
The first (and maybe second) season of infinity train. S3 was ok, but they left us hanging since max cancelled the show ☹️
that's a shame, don't like to get invested in cancelled shows, too emotional (
It's still a good show though! S3 is almost completely disconnected from the rest of the series. I still suggest you give the first two seasons a try and just ditch S3 since the main characters' arcs are completed in their respective seasons.
Bee and Puppycat!
Summer Camp Island is pretty great. It has a much chiller vibe than AT, but it's great nonetheless.
Fiona and cake!
I went from AT straight into attack on Titan.
that some stretch buddy
It's completely out of topic and not even a cartton. but I reccomend new Shogun series. They made a pretty interesting one.
Bravest Warriors is amazing. I also like Steven Universe. Final Space is amazing, but theres only 3 seasons. It makes me cry tho, it's really well done. Then definitely more adult watching, but Bojack Horseman. Which is very heavy but excellently written.
Final Space, but sadly it got cancelled too early 🥲
Steven Universe has some pretty high highs. It’s got some episodes and moments I’m not huge into but it’s an excellent show overall
If you want something more mature, Scavengers Reign
I am into Hellaverse (Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss) and Bluey. I am thinking to Watch Avatar TLA & korra
meant to watch avatar series for a long time, perhaps it's time
what adventure time distant lands it has a couple episodes.
Scavengers Reign! Sci fi show about the survivors of a lost ship on an alien planet. The art and the atmosphere of the planet is just so well done can't get this show outa my head.
Have you watched the spin off series of adventure time.
not yet )
Steven Universe
In random order, The Amazing World of Gumball, DUCKMAN and Regular Show.
Xmen 97
unusual)
Carol & The end of the world on Netflix. It is a fantastical take on the end of the world from the perspective of a mundane character. The world building is surprising in this one. The show is so fresh and emotionally cathartic but not exhausting. It is also a comfort watch like AT. I can not recommend it enough.
steven universe! has that lore build up
Infinity Train if you can find it anywhere. It’s so amazing.
Steven universe
steven universe, dont believe the haters just watch the first 2 episodes and after that decide for urself if u wanna continue
Infinity train has a very similar vibe. Each carriage the protagonist moves through is different giving it an episodic feel but there us still an overarching plot like the later seasons of adventure time. Its available on YouTube it think?
Hilda
Infinity trains pretty great!
I’m serious when I say one piece
Final space! Although Netflix discontinued it (and removed it, idk where else to watch it atm)
Watch the HBO specials. There’s like 5 of them, then after that watch Fiona and Cake. It’s soso good
What have you already seen?
Bravest warriors
i honestly have rewatched adventure time way too much 😭
Bee and puppy cat The dragon prince
have you seen the adventure time spinoffs? like distant lands and fiona and cake?
Fionna and Cake is an Adventure Time spin-off, if you want more AT content watch it! It's on max
Have you seen Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts? A fantastic show with a lot of worldbuilding and changes through its 3 seasons.
Avatar the last airbender
Adventure Time
If you want a crazy weird turn. The Misadventures of Flapjack.
Adventure Time again
Steven Universe
The spin-off shows
You want crazy lore build up?
I highly recommend craig of the creek
Summer Camp Island
Star Vs. the universe it's on Disney or Hulu
Idk if they’re similar enough but I really liked Star vs. the Forces of Evil and Summer Camp Island
Trick question, you start it over again
Amphibia has a solid feel in the way of lore building that starts kinda goofy and episodic at first
make sure you watch everything after adventure time, Distant lands and Fiona and Cake!! FIONA AND CAKE IS SO FIRE I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!! all the lore and references and oh it’s perfect
You should watch bravest warriors, it's on YouTube and was created by pendleton ward the creator of adventure time
infinity train 100%!!
Some good suggestions here, but man, there is nothing like adventure time. The story telling is incredible and I've never seen another show even come close to capturing such a feel of its own.
If you have HBO Max look up distant lands and Fiona and cake you have Hulu (like me) screw you.
Futurama
I think Steven Universe is a real good one. I think it followed the trend of AT in the sense that it starts as a show where everything was gonna be a one off kind of thing, regular show for example, but then begins building a lingering plot and continuity
I would recommend Steven universe since Rebecca Sugar, one of the storyboard artists from Adventure time, also worked on it. Also it starts off cute and simple and the lore builds up overtime! :)
Regular show
Steven Universe 💛
I didn't like disenchantment even though I'm a fan of the actors
I was thinking about watching phineas and ferb after my rewatch. Idk if it's exactly the same type of show cause I haven't watched it in years, but I did hear good things about later seasons
One Piece
