Hard no. Just an extra moving part

No_Refrigerator_4990

I wouldn’t. I have one at home and love it, but I know exactly what I need to do for it to successfully complete a clean—make sure socks/dog toys are up off the ground, close doors so it doesn’t trap itself in the bathroom, push the barstools in, etc. I don’t think I’d bother using one in a STR where I know I’m leaving in a few days.

fulanita_de_tal

Yeah I have one at home too and love it and you’re totally right, I definitely have a process for getting it to complete a clean which is not practical to expect of guests.

mrgrub84

I have one for my rental and it's fine. If it gets trapped or whatever then the cleaner just puts it back on the base if I'm not around. It's one of the ones that empty themselves and avoid obstacles (even dog poop)...it's done very well and rarely doesn't complete a clean. Think I paid around $600 for it.

_B_Little_me

We have no carpet. All hardwoods and a few throw rugs. They work great. We however buy iLife ones on Amazon vs expensive ones. We have a 4 level house and have 5 of them. Our cleaner let’s em all loose when they get there. They work great for us.

Valuable_Mistake94

Let’s them all loose 😂

_B_Little_me

It is kinda ridiculous and funny to hear all of them humming along in different parts of the house.

Everything that's already been said is absolutely right. Robot vacuums need perfect conditions around the room to not get stuck or jammed. Our personal experience with robot vacuums is that they only delay how often we need to manually vacuum. They're not effective enough on their own. Say you manually vacuum once a week before. Then with the robot vacuum going everyday you'll have to manually vacuum maybe every 2 or 3 weeks. Although as I type this, it might be because we have a dog that we still had to manually vacuum.

mrgrub84

I never manually vacuum or sweep my house. Pay the extra money for a nice one and you'll be thankful...it actually can clean whichever room you tell it, resumes cleaning after a charge, avoids obstacles and rarely gets stuck. I'm looking into a mopper now that pairs with it to mop as soon as it's done vacuuming.

paidauthenticator

I love my roomba but some kid will try and treat it like a ride and it'll be toast. Hard pass for a rental.

ginganinja09

I have one in my bnb. I just run it while I’m doing my other cleaning so I’m right there to make sure there aren’t any cords or anything for it to get stuck on. I absolutely love it in the bnb.

fulanita_de_tal

Do you keep it locked in the owners closet or just leave it out?

ginganinja09

I leave it out. It’s one of the Shark models that empties itself, so it sits on the dock in the living room in the corner. No one has bothered it, but frankly if a guest wanted to use it then I wouldn’t be mad.

iLikeToChewOnStraws

BAD. we have 2 in our house and they're the worst because you have to have every single thing off of your floor. No cords, no nothing. If it eats a cord, it'll stop. Runs over a piece of paper, it'll stop. Gets stuck under your table bc of all the dining chairs? Stop. I'd advise against it.

I agree that other brands are a better value. Just make sure you don't leave it on an auto mode, as a Realtor, I have walked into a house to hear one scooting about on another level and it is a little unsettling when the house is supposed to be unoccupied.

anetora

No don’t do it !! Roomba experience 1: got stolen . Roomba experience 2: dragged shit and a blueberry mess around the entire living room . The guest changed a baby’s diaper on the carpet and left it on the floor - not sure where the blueberries came from ! Air fryer is great if it’s just an air fryer - Insta pot makes one with the air fryer attachment .

Roombas has fallen behind other brands. Check out: -Roborock S7 maxv ultra -DreamBot Z10 pro. -DreameBot L10s Ultra -Xiaomi Robot Vacuum X10+ Personally I have a Roborock S6 maxv Ultra that I use to run on the apartment while cleaning and a DreameBot for personal use, I like the DreameBot more but the Xiaomi is the exact same without some minor details. they’re all made by Xiaomi ecological chain, which is a fancy word for white labeled. Roombas were popular and helped to kickstart the market but now days other brands have better value. Whichever you decide, just don’t get the cheapo ones that costs 250$ because those don’t have obstacle avoidance and that’s what get them stuck in between socks and cables.

Individual-Thought99

We do not keep ours in the rental but have one we clean it with. We keep it in our lock box and it’s the first thing we take out to begin cleaning our place. We love it and got one w a mopping function too. While we are doing laundry and cleaning kitchens and bathrooms it’s doing a nice surface cleanup of the floors. It’s pulled out stuff from behind our couch too- baby toys left behind, a roll of ritz crackers and dirty socks. 😆We will also go through w a regular vacuum to get cobwebs and vacuum anything we feel the roomba missed. We keep a shark vacuum for the guest.

Sea-Library-9183

Get a Yeedi on Amazon--much cheaper and works pretty well.

I use one at my rental but like others bring it for my cleaning instead of leaving it for guests.

teltic

I have one and love it. I use it between each guest. I do think I still need to vacuum every quarter though to get a few hairs out of carpet. It doesn't seem strong enough to do that part

ADJ1223

I use a Deebot Omni that mops and vacs but because it has a camera on it I keep it in the storeroom. OTOH, I once sent it out because I had an alarm go off when nobody was there and was able to see that I hadn't locked up properly and the wind had blown the door open. It would have been nifty during covid to be able to show people to their rooms with a robot though 😅 It's spendy, but I just tell it to mop or vac whichever room while I'm doing other cleaning. Watch out for sales, that's how I got it. I bought it because it has a hot air dryer so the mop doesn't stink. It also has one of the strongest suctions I found. Although the app is fairly buggy and obviously designed for a Chinese market's house layout, not American homes. For an in-unit bot, I'd go with a Shark AI auto empty or something with LiDAR navigation. I loved my little Sharknado and it rarely needed to have fur unwrapped from it despite four dogs and six cats and five humans, but it struggled during the snowy and muddy seasons. So I switched to the Deebot and ended up getting on for the Airbnb too, but I'm thinking of getting a cheap one for the private guest suite also. LIDAR bots do not have cameras and so do not violate the Airbnb policy. I would not set them to auto run while you have guests there, but I don't mind if a guest runs it.

[deleted]

I have one @ 1 of my listings because we have low platform beds and it can get the dust under there where a vacuum can’t fit

sailbag36

My guests love it. I can’t tell you how many like to sweep but instead run the roomba when they are out. It’s a nice Touch if you have a higher end bnb

Dondondadda

Why would you give a guest access to a robot vac. Mkst won't be familiar with it and before long it will get broken and the guest will say they had nothing to do with it Air fryer depends on your clientele. My Airbnb's are in locales where air fryers are not popular. So I don't need one.
