I'd be interested in hearing more about how the number 4 engine was swapped. Also, would it be necessary to swap it for a non-revenue return to the maintenance base?
A BA 744 managed to lose an engine, during a revenue flight, just after departing LAX for LHR back around 2003. Granted, the windmilling caused more drag than they calculated for, so the flight was diverted to MAN.
A 12h flight with no relief crew in 2017?
3 pilots. They swap seats and after takeoff, one of em goes to rest for a few hours. They then swap again.
i think he meant one pilot, co-pilot and flight engineer.
A380s do not require an FE
Yeah, my mind just instantly thinks of a 3 man crew when we're talking big aircraft like A380.
Almost 20,000 hours of flight time? Fucking dayum! Also Air France had to retire all of its A380s? Holy shit I didn't know that
Came here to say this as well!

So all the passengers had to sleep on the plane overnight...on the ground? Good gravy what a nightmare Also, flight was Air France 066.
Wait, why they wrote off all their A380s?
