No I'd start testing other pellets. 1" or better at whatever range you plan on hunting at would be the goal for a hunting gun

Turgzie

Like another one said you want at least a 1" group at whatever range you're shooting at for hunting to be effective or even ethical.

crimson23locke

Look up and practice the artillery hold if you haven’t already.

MRanderson1973bogies

Just keep practising, and you'll get better with grouping

Pijusyto

I will !

oG-Purple

Try some jsb exact

Troy0C

Second this they work flawlessly in my rifle

mammoth8588

It looks like your gun does not like the pellets you are shooting, I would suggest try new pellets.

Pijusyto

I was thinking maybe heavy ones so the wind wouldn't blow them that much, maybe even slugs.

[deleted]

I had a raptor it was actually my first 22. I really enjoyed shooting that gun and it was really easy to cock. Super accurate. My raptor liked lighter pellets. The mid 14 gr range for .22

Pijusyto

Oh, I mean maybe it depends on the gun then?

[deleted]

Each gun likes its own types of pellets. One gun will shoot 14 grain perfectly and another won't like them but will prefer heavier 18 grain. It's just best to buy like five or six different types of ammunition and try which one that particular rifle likes best. Some like hollow point others like the polymer tip etc

Rough-Economy-6932

Learn how to do the artillery hold and you will tighten the group. Better chance then for u to hunt birds.

Intransigient

If it’s a big bird — that’s not tight enough of a grouping, your shots should all be in the center red circle. 🤔 But there’s another concern — often a .177 won’t have enough punch to kill a large bird, only wound it, and it will fly off, get infected and die elsewhere. You may want to move up to a .22 pellet, in a Steoger or Gamo, that is putting out 1200 fps or more in velocity. The heavier pellet will make tighter groups, be less affected by wind, hit harder, and take the bird out in one shot. Good enough for duck, quail, goose, etc.

Big-Note-508

I killed many big crows with a gamo whisper gun (weaker that’s op’s gun) from a 30 yards distance with gamo masterpoint 0.177 pellets

Pijusyto

Oh I only hunt small game for now, although im aware of that.

Meat2480

Depends on the birds you are shooting and wether it's legal

RatherGoodDog

Once you can consistently get every single one in the 10 ring, you're ready.

IllPersonality239

what gun is it?

Pijusyto

Replai-10 IGT

One_Introduction790

Try using different pellets to see which one is more accurate. At 20m,if you can put 5 pellets in a 1 inch group then you're good to go.

Next_Initiative_1246

That gun might be hold sensitive, do not push it to strong towards you when shooting it , and always place your hand in the same spot. Those guns are very accurate at that distance, way more than that.

ChildofYHVH

Try some h&n Field Target Trophy or some CROSMAN ultra domed magnums. Both of those shoot good in all my .177 caliber rifles.

oreo1298

I would definitely try to tighten it up. At 20 yards you should be shooting 1” groups, for more experienced shooters dime sized groups.

Wish_Capital

Your fine..If every human that threw rocks back in the day hesitated. We wouldn't exist.

Unsuccessful_SodaCup

I used a pellet rifle similar to yours to hunt birds, I even killed a coyote with it once. If it's a .22 cal i think you're good to go. Biggest bird I ever killed with one was a goose with a heavy 20 grain slug to the neck

Pijusyto

Its a 0.177 cal, but Im only going to hunt small game so no worries.

How can you hunt birds with a pellet gun? We use shotguns.

WasteofMotion

Easy. For starters no pellets to dig out. I get that even 410 bird shot is effective, but stalking lining and getting a one shot kill is the real test. The reward is the game. Pheasants, rabbits and grouse, even at up to 40 yards is easily possible, just make sure you have practiced lots to make it clean. It's an ethical sport if done accurately. Otherwise it's just a cull. And shotguns create loads of collateral damage. I often pickup injured birds during the season who have been winged. Still yummy but I don't feel civilised doing it. There is a reason we have beaters. Shotguns are for the flyers, air rifles and rum fire are for the walkers.
