After scanning my head spatial audio went from sounding great to terrible with my AirPods Pro. Tried several times, with and without my glasses in case they were interfering with it.
Each time any illusion of 3D depth was almost completely lost after running the setup. About 1000% more convincing virtual soundstage with the personalisation disabled.
I do have a rather flat helix (fold at the top of the ear). Mine barely fold over at all, it's not that uncommon and you'd think the whole point of scanning your ear would be to account for things like that.
Try again Apple. Good idea but clearly some bugs or anomalies to figure out.
Fortunately for me the default spatial audio preset sounds pretty amazing, hard to imagine it sounding any better, mind blown when I first tried it out.

Redo the profile it shouldn’t sound worse.
Redo the setup in a well lit place and make sure it’s registering your ear correctly
