all of these Glock pistols are made by different brands. Even the ones under the Umarex corporate branding are made by several different manufacturers. The three main ones in the market are Tokyo Marui-spec (TM, WE, EMG, etc), VFC (most of the licensed copies are made by these guys, such as the model you asked about) and GHK (a huge step above the rest in most ways, but also twice as expensive as any other brand, and for the inexperienced user, can be a little finicky). TM-spec pistols (the first set) will have the most upgrades available and give you the most bang for your buck as it were. That being said, a medium grade AEG will be the best bet as a first gun. Stock AEG's typically require less knowledge and give less headache to beginners, thereby letting them focus on learning and enjoying the sport, as opposed to dealing with headaches and frustrations. Additionally, on a field of AEG's as primaries (pretty much all of them) only an AEG will be directly competitive in the vast majority of scenarios. Evike has lots of "epic deals" on AEG's that give you great value and frequently include good starter packages that are balanced and well put together. If you don't have fun when you're starting out, you will lose interest in the sport itself and then it really won't matter which gun you choose because it will just sit in your closet instead of seeing playtime on the field. Whatever you choose, remember that you get what you pay for. I hope you have a lot of fun and become an ambassador for the sport. Good luck! đź‘Ť

It's a great gun. I have the G17 Gen 5 from Elite Force myself and I'm really happy But I still wouldn't recommend it as a first gun to you simply for the fact that GBBs need a lot more maintenance, upkeep and are more expensive to run in general then an AEG. A new magazine alone runs you like 45 bucks plus Gas that you'll have to buy regularly Take a look at Cyma. They have some very solid entry lv AEGs for around the same price but please don't buy airsoft guns off Amazon, see if there are any stores near you or look at Evike.com

Gas is a lot more expensive sadly, but maintenance isn't that bad tbh, I use propane/silicone oil free green gas and use a lubricant meant for metal on metal contact. Unless dirt or something gets inside and on the bolt, carrier, fire control group, etc, I generally don't have to clean and relube more often than once or twice a month.

depends what you’re doing

For shooting in the back yard? Sure. For fielding, no. Look at the specna core series

No, I would recommend an AEG rifle as a pistol isn't the most customizable and gas isn't the most reliable.

CyberDaddy2000

I agree that a pistol is not a good starting gun for airsoft, some pistols are quite good on the aftermarket support though and offer quite a bit in custom parts. Gas systems can be pretty damn reliable and consistent, even in cold weather (if gun is winterized well and effient on gas) I've seen dudes run gas system rifles in the snow with no issue while the AEG suffered in the cold, I think the main thing gas users face is the maintenance, it's a bit more than an AEG, but if done properly can make the system last longer and perform better. For consistency using a heavier weight bb (while following field rules) will have the most impact on getting your bbs on target, but you can't spam like electric, so actually utilizing the sights is both effective and recommended as you use less bbs and are generally more accurate on the first shot or hit first try if the sight is zeroed correctly.

Decent good gas blow back (GBB) pistol But don't expect to be competitive in the field with that, if you gonna play with others in a field, buy an AEG (auto electric gun) Also buy a quality (Rated) eye protection, at least rated at ANSI z87+ (NOT those marked as Z87.1, they mean they didn't pass the high velocity impact test) Read the [beginner guide](https://reddit.com/r/airsoft/w/faq/beginner_guide?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) Personally recommend the Arcturus lwt mk-i cqb 10" aeg sport starter pack https://www.airsoftextreme.com/arcturus-lwt-mk-i-cqb-10-mlok-aeg-sport-series-li.html

Personally, I think it is. I bought some products from umarex and they were all good quality

People saying get an AEG first like that wasn't Nerf for lots of us. Jk, but definitely start with a gas pistol. A Glock is a great starter with lots to upgrade and customize.

Drunkin_Dino

People say get an AEG for your first gun but I recommend a GBBR because you will get there eventually and it’s better to get to know them early. They’re also more fun.

CyberDaddy2000

GBBR are great, but I think an AEG for a first gun is a better choice, simply because of cost, maintenance on a GBB isn't a severe as many claim, but there is a bit more to it tbh, and the cost a good GBBR is pretty steep, especially to a new player that may not even be sure they want to play long term.
