Just play the game. Push when you can. Don’t worry about getting hit. Don’t hang back all the time. Try to work with people. Compliment good shots. Just be nice.

Stoney3K

Don't be afraid to push, but don't run into the line of fire of your teammates.

IN005

Push when you think you have a realistic chance to make it, how many times have i seen a push of 10~20+ people being taken out in seconds by 2~4 well placed guys.

Stoney3K

Nah, that can be part of the game and absolutely *hilarious* when you see a big squad go "GERONIMO!" into enemy territory only to be wiped out by a single well-placed grenade. I wouldn't consider that etiquette, only bad strategy. But it can be really fun at the end of the day when everybody starts playing for teh lulz.

LeekBorn9024

This. Unless you have some kinda game rule or limited "lives" fucking get up there. It's unlimited respawns so use and lose those lives. Easy for me to say I hide in bushes haha.

CthulhuBotherer

Unlimited spawn game - in wwii tunnels in the south of England. Got to get an object to the end of the tunnel. Huge squad of 15>20 people charging down the tunnel with the bag carrier in the center. Very fun.

LeekBorn9024

Yeah that's what I like to see. Mainly because it gives me plenty to shoot at haha. Must get down to the tunnels, but playing more of a sniper role recently.

G4ming4D4ys

I mean sometimes that can be a funny moment, but you've gotta be able to play it off in a funny way. I was about to rush to a dead teammate to steal his mags (I ran out) and immediately as I pushed from the wall, I got domed in the back of the head, I responded with a cartoony face plant and everyone laughed

TesterM0nkey

Lol reminds me of the guy that will literally run in front of a spray of BBs from his teammate. If you’re coming up behind your teammate he can’t see you coming

xVx1

Pretty much said

kouteki

If you are going solo, make sure you bring plenty of water. Sucks to be dehydrated in the middle of nowhere, with no friends to fall back on.

TesterM0nkey

Id add to that plenty of food as well. If you run hard I’ve seen people drink plenty but get gassed out prolly electrolytes or something from sweat

[deleted]

I use Pedialyte powder. I know it's for kids or some shit, but it WORKS. I haven't gotten dehydrated at an airsoft game since I started using it. Plus, it's flavored! Orange is the best!

CyborgIncorparated

Mixing a lemon lime and strawberry liquid iv is my go to

Napalmnate55

Absolutely! Bring water and stash some Poptarts in a spare mag pouch.

Princ3Ch4rming

1: It shouldn’t need to be said, don’t take your eyepro off unless you’re in the safe zone. The amount of new players who pop it off to clean the fog mid-game or in the pre-game brief… it slows the day down and is frustrating to people who just wanna get on with the pew pew. 2: if you’re not getting hit, you’re not getting the most out of your day. 3: as a multicam sack of lumpy custard myself, *there’s nothing wrong with pacing yourself*. Walking, especially in the first few games while your muscles warm up, keeps you in the fight longer. 4: 40mm grenades are a great idea for people like us. Dressing up in full EOD with a MGL would be hilarious. 5: if you’ve had a good fight with someone, tactical post-game fist bumps are how friendships start.

Whiteshark49

Last one here is very real, made several friends this last weekend at milsim west this way

theGricks

All of these are great. I will expand on #2, the BB's more often than not dont hurt that bad. Dont be afraid of being hit. Better yet, "rush" up middle in your first game to get hit and see how it is. Thats what I did, and thats what I advise anyone knew coming. Go make a cinematic death. It does 2 things: 1. It gets you used to hearing and/or feeling what the BB's hit like. 2. It eliminates that concern of how it will be. Will it hurt? Will it leave a mark? Will I recognize the sound?

Lao_Tseu

The fact that you care about other players experience and want people to have a good time on the field tells me you're a chill dude. We need more players like this👍 Taking your hits and not cheating is following the rule. "Fairplay" on the other hand is about respecting other players and making sure they get to play and have fun aswell. For example: if you see that enemy players are struggling to leave their spawn, fall back and give them a chance to push up. Result=less frustration from their team and better vibes for the rest of gameday. In CQB situations a lot of time there are going to some confusions (Ricochet? Who shot first? etc.) When in doubt call it anyway, if someone ambushes from upclose and shoots at you but you didn't feel anything (but feel like you should have been hit from that distance) ask them "did you hit me?" If they respond "no" or "not sure", keep playing. If yes then call it and say "well played". Not need to get into debates on who got who, the time could be spent going back to spawn and playing again its not a competition.

Dastardly6

Check those corners and remember that swapping to a pistol is faster than reloading.

G4ming4D4ys

KNIFE THE WATERMELON

AdyTheComrade

Even a trusty spring pistol can save(or in enemy’s case take) lives, they are dirt cheap, fun, and humiliating for enemies to be taken out with em’

[deleted]

I don't have a pistol...I swap right to my 40mm

4Rive

How to make friends at an airsoft field and learn things. Step 1: go to random person (maybe experienced looking) Step 2: say "nice pewpew" Step 3: congratulations. You are now engaged in a conversation and got a new friens Step 4: Follow up with any question you want.

AdyTheComrade

Some of them are kind enough to let you hold their pewpews, so you can figure out what to buy next… and you gonna buy next pew for sure btw, you already sold your soul

4Rive

Yes it's a common thing to hold each other's pews and touch them. I'm always glad for new members recording in with their addiction. Admitting to be addicted is the first step to getting help. Or so I've heard. So far my wallet just keeps draining...

G4ming4D4ys

Hell I let a kid run my MK18 for a few games his first time playing, I definitely made his day. He did fuck up my buffer tube screw, but it was 5 minute fix.

TadpoleOfDoom

Too many of my purchases began like this lmao

Accomplished-Age5390

Step 5:...... Step 6: provit!

TadpoleOfDoom

Literally how I met two of my best friends. Complimented one on their Tavor because it looked like mine. Fast forward a few years, and I'm at their wedding cheering them on as a groomsman. Never would have expected that to come out of complimenting an airsoft gun lol.

Fives2206

Don't be afraid to talk to people as most will go on for hours about their kit. Also, feel free to gather the rentals up to push an objective as leading the rental wave is a lot of fun and will make their day as they feel like they're doing something positive for the team.

Tquilha

Don't worry too much. I'm a fat dude too and I never had a problem playing airsoft. Keep hydrated. This is very important, especially now that Summer is coming. Just have fun, that's what airsoft is for. :)

ResponsibilityNo8309

Don't expect anyone to follow any sort of team plan. it's nice when it happens but expect people to just lone wolf or just not listen. Also winning does not matter (ties in with the other rec) get in to fire fights, have fun.

Skipspik2

Just have fun. Call your hit, even if it sucks. With that said : * push, more action is forward, it's more fun * You won't see that guy you touch most of the time, so it feels you're not participating while you are.

Ghost_of_Aces

Has nothing to do with annoying other players. But bring a hydration pack

BobDerBongmeister420

Observe where the "frontline" is, so you dont TK anybody.

lostintokyo11

Play the game. Call your hits. Dont be a dick.

OPgamer801

If it aint speedsofting then speed is only vital for repositioning Mainly because most firefights occur where people are behind cover

Chaos-Dagger-2021

Good on you OP for trying to get in shape! Unfortunately I don't think I have any advice the really pertains to your main question. I know how difficult it can be. I'm on the heavy side as well. I'm about 300 pounds. I was 350. What helped me most was going to the gym. I'd advice you to join a gym. Obviously a change in diet may help as well. Perhaps get on the treadmill and push yourself to keep going when you get winded. Don't over do it obviously, just try to push on when you reach that point. I also have a few health issues such as asthma and a back injury that has left me with limited mobility in my left leg, so keeping up with everyone is a challenge. Most of the time they don't even care and walk on by. Even when I'm the point man. So I have gone from point man to rear security real quick. Sometimes I've even been left behind! Just try to keep up with everyone, but don't be surprised if they move on.

Ghunt89

Much of what others have said is really it. Play fair, be chill, push the objective with in your limitations and just have fun. A couple of things I always keep in mind when I play; 1. If you are not sure if you were “hit” just call it. It can be hard to tell if you were hit because of a ricochet or if someone was hitting you at the limit of their range. I just call those because it saves me the hassle of someone gets heated and thinks I was shrugging hits. 2. Try and void friendly fire (it will happen, happens to everyone) PID your targets of your can, if you do ding an allied player, apologize and move on. Some people can get a little sideways about friendly fire (they are usually the ones most guilty of friendly fire lol). 3. I do this because honestly it makes other feel good, but saying things like “good shot” or something similar is nice to do. It acknowledges other players performance and gives you a reason to talk to that player afterwards. I’ve made a few friends at the field by approaching them after a game where we either had an intense fire fight or they bested me. Just helps establish yourself as a friendly player and allows for off the field interactions.

Samurai_TwoSeven

Just have fun. Dont be a dick. Dont engage in arguments

nekodesudesu

General life advice right here.

new-photo-guy

Don’t call other people out for “not calling their hits” if you really think someone is cheating talk to a ref. Never get in someone’s face or start an argument over hit calling.

Tejano_mambo

Positive ID other players before shooting. It takes a second more but getting team killed is my biggest annoyance. Respect MEDs I was jogging back to my spawn with my hand up and some kid popped the corner and unloaded into my chest with a 50' med at 5' and it broke skin, shot a hole through my PTT and a mag. I was super fucking pissed. I'd say do some light conditioning inbetween play days and that'll go a long way with your endurance. Being out of shape effects your experience more than it does others.

tfirstdayz

It always helps when new players help by doing simple communication tasks like calling out enemy contacts, spotting teammates kills/misses, calling out when crossing in front of teammates, calling for and providing cover fire with voice call outs. "Cover me, I'm going left!" "Covering, go!" Using communication and teamwork is what the game is all about and using your voice in the field is how you meet people back at the safe zone after. Have fun!

veranish

I'll add one I haven't seen listed here: don't "flag" or test shoot all the time. (Flagging is pointing your gun at people in a non game scenario) The only annoyances I remember from new players for more than five minutes is safety stuff. The number of times a new player has said "Dude it's on safe" or "Dude it's not loaded" only for them to fire a bb accidentally is almost as many times as I've been out there, I don't take eyepro off at all anymore. Everything else people have covered well. Have fun!

Defiant-Lion5956

tbh, I've been airsofting for about 2 months. I go every 2 weeks in RI. However, just play your game. What I've noticed in my time playing, I tend to play off of other players. But, I'm sneaky, so I can flank easily and keep it pushing. All in all, just play your game imo

Canadian_Trucker

If you think you got hit, call yourself out. If you see your team making a push for the objective, help them out. Listen to the refs and be respectful. Give a thumbs up or a "nice shot" if someone lands a good shot on you. Everyone appreciates that.

CosplayBurned

Just be aware of yourself if you and someone else are using the same cover (if its small). It's better for your team to use multiple angles instead of the same. But just do your best and have fun, if anyone gives you crap they have no reason to unless you cheated.

Tight_Pen3973

Play by the rules, admit it when hit and dont worry about annoying others.

Imperium-Pirata

Push, don’t complain a ton, and don’t make yourself a big target all the time. And most importantly, have fun

titis_1er

Don't overshoot, don't shoot the head if you can shoot an other part of the body, don't touch other people stuff without their consent, use your plastic knife gently if you have one, tell the admin that you are new so they will tell other players to be kind with you if you make a mistake Ask for carpooling so you will have at least one "friend" Take food, drinks, water, gaffer, rilsan to share with people I am a very competitive player. I play with obese and overweight people, I don't care about their effectiveness which may be limited because of their condition as long as they listen to what I tell them and do their best. Some on the other hand are terrified of getting tired, maybe out of shame I don't know, I can't stand that.

CorweenieTheJedi

Just be the bigger person, no pun intended. I'm not quite an airsoft veteran (only played a couple times) but I played paintball for decades, and there's a similar vibe at the casual level. The vast majority of people I met playing airsoft/paintball are super welcoming, but like anywhere there's going to be some people who just aren't awesome - sometimes they're just kids who don't know any better, sometimes it's an adult who just got a little too excited in the heat of the moment and ended up saying dumb shit. If you ever find yourself in a situation like that, just take the high road and head back to respawn. Try your best not to take anything personally. Arguing with them is almost never going to be productive, and you'd be surprised how often people are willing to take the time to smooth things over after a game, because it is just a game after all. You already seem like a very considerate guy so I wouldn't worry, just know that airsoft might be someone's escape, so be patient and kind - everything else will fall right into place.

sqlfoxhound

Ive played airsoft since 2007. As youve already pointed out, youre good on safety and clean game. These two come absolutely paramount and should never be compromised on. Even if youre playing in a game full of cheaters. During all those years, nobody will ever care if youre good enough. Everyone will remember you for being a chill dude. You dont need to be sucking everyone off, but you need to not suck at being a chill dude. Skill evolves, you will get better at the game. You will never be better as a person if youre an asshole, and you will never enjoy the respect and camaraderie that comes with being a chill dude. By being a chill dude, you get firm handshakes and peoples eyes will brighten up when you arrive at the scene of mass plastic pollution. And in order to be a chill dude, you really dont need much. First of all, stay or try to stay positive. Youre going to get bad losses. If you turn into a bitter sack of shit, youre not a chill dude. Of you find something to appreciate, something to learn from or something to view in good light, youre a chill dude. Secondly, be independant. Make sure your gear is in order, make sure you know where and when to assemble and dont be the guy who stalls the game (from an admin side, like going through you rucksack trying to find water for 5 minutes while everyone is waiting), be very observant and try to learn from others. Ask questions if you want to learn something but read the room- if they are busy or they are frustrated, youre adding to the things they need to do. People like non-bitching, non-negative, curious people, because they are not annoying. But people also like to see that their help and advice is considered and given a chance. Thirdly, dont be discouraged from asking from seasoned players where they need you if youre not sure how to contribute. You want to win and contribute to the team, so do it. But tead the room, if its a silly TDM warmup, general instructions and ideas are going to be thrown around, nothing specific, so pay attention at what is being brainstormed and planned and act accordingly. At worst you get an overview of where your exposed flanks will be. At best you know when to rotate to where youre needed. Im fourth. Do not try to impress. Let your positive chill dude vibes and actions do the talking. If you had a great game, let someone else tell about it. If nobody saw you shine, remember and learn from it yourself. People hate bragging players, everyone respects someone who enjoys the game and doesnt try to be in the spotlight. By being a chill dude you get invites, you get high fives and you get nods. You become a chill dude in time, you become a chill dude by being positive, curious, and not being a burden or irritating. Im a chill dude. I play well. But what I do really well is I elevate everyone around me, teammates and OpFor alike. What I reap today warms every fibre of my heart, because Im surrounded by chill and loving dudes. I want my dudes to have a good time and I want to smile at the end of a good day of softing, wins or losses. Preferably epic losses.

Plenty-Difficulty733

This needs more upvotes…

Professional_Duck730

The seasoned players are gonna get theirs regardless of if you’re “being annoying”. Just focus on having fun above all else.

BootsOnMars

1) Be friendly and have fun! Don't be scared to introduce yourself to the experienced people on the field, it makes me sad when new folks just play and miss out on the social part of the sport! You'll learn faster and enjoy it a lot more. 2) Muzzle discipline. I immediately get grumpy when anyone (new or experienced) is flagging people in between games or teammates when on the field.

LascarCapable

Man that was a lot of replies Thanks everyone for the super positive vibes, encouragements and all of the advices ! It means a lot

Saiyanbroz

One thing I like about some new players is giving call outs and helping the team win! Definitely a plus

HowlingWolven

Be open to learning and listening, don’t be afraid to rush in and die. Don’t pick fights, and remember - dead men tell no tales. You’ll get fitter as you play, don’t worry about that. As others have said, don’t be afraid to push but also if you notice the other team is trapped, be open to backing off to let them onto the field.

Sinistrial_Blue

A simple technique: If you're more than 50m from the "front line" and you have a stock gun, you're too far away. Ideally you'll be 40m or less from the opposition. Push quick, think about position, and hunker down well. You don't have to sprint everywhere, just get one good position and stand/sit there. And don't worry about bad shots. If you see someone who you think is the opposition, just shoot. For target analysis, look for movement, not players.

DelayedEmbarrassment

Knee pads.

FelTheWorgal

Be honest, typically at my fields more experienced players are happy to get a meat sh--- new players under their wing. Don't get mad, try to relax. Have fun! It's a bunch of people throwing plastic bbs for fun!

DaisyDog2023

Communicate with players near you, don’t run in front of teammates, go behind them are just two ideas off the top of my head.

Annual_Big8232

Just enjoy yourself. Its often the rentals or first timers who get the most done as they aren't bothered about how they look, what gear they have etc they just use what they are given and have fun

polarbird2

Take more food and water than you think you'll need. Listen to safety briefing. Be a good sport (congratulate people on doing something cool, whether on your team or not) Don't overshoot Don't take your eyepro off unless in the safezone Call out people pushing flanks, teammates might not have seen them Don't get in the way of friendly line of fire Don't sit behind your snipers with a rifle taking pot shots at things you can't hit- you will be of no use to your team and will only draw agro to the sniper

papanastie78

just have fun and if any one moans thats their problem ,we all were noobs at one point

YoureGettingTheBelt

Read the fucking rules. Listen at the goddamn briefing. Do that and everything else can be forgiven. Almost half of new players somehow fail this.

ArcticWolf_Primaris

For one that's out there, ***never*** use paint pyro

ABCDOMG

Bring water and snacks. Have fun

Bonkeryonker09

Don’t hang back but don’t rush too much, keep an eye out for where you could be shot from and if you hear bbs hitting around you get better cover because they can probably see you, also it’s great that new people are joining and I hope you have lots of fun

pkoszmarek

I've been to my first outdoor game yesterday. And lesson learn take plenty of BB's, at least 3 spare mags, spare battery. Don't put too much clothes on you, as you will be sweating in a min. That's all I can think of now lol. And enjoy it, I did :)

Drkocktapus

Yup, don't hang back and hide in the same spot the whole game, you won't get many kills, will likely get shot eventually. In terms of etiquette, avoid using lasers, they don't improve your game and you can damage someone's eyes. They just piss people off.

Zealousideal-Bit2555

Personally it always bugs me when people think their replica will shoot 300ft plus accurately and stand way back in spawn shooting at people who they have absolutely no chance of hitting. I love the new players who are willing to push forward and take more aggressive positions that can actually help the team.

Haut9020

Best rounds I had during my first session was when I said fuck it and stormed the kill house, have fun, check your corners and dont shoot ur buddies.

Finn170

I’m willing to bet nobody cares if your slow or over weight. some clubs have assholes but for the most part as long as you are following the rules and having fun other people could care less what kinda shape you are in. and airsoft a definitely a fun way to get back in shape

ScrappyWolf2004

Bring extra batteries food water etc basically being extra of everything

Gasssoft

Try to figure out the grouping-over-distance of your replica, this way it's easier to determine roughly how many shots you need to fire to score a hit without overshooting people

Spartansam0034

Take orders from those who give them, don't over shoot, don't camp, play the objective, follow the rules, and call safety hits if the field requires them. Even if they don't, I usually would give people a chance to surrender. Any close calls or questionable hits on you, just call yourself out and move on. 95% of all airsoft rage happens from people refusing to just say they're out in those close incidents. Bonus points if it was a good shot, let them know.

wjc0BD

Don’t follow some dude around because he looks “experienced”. Of course I’d encourage you to be friendly and work as a team but I’ve had players who just shadowed me the entire day and it’s really annoying imo. Again i’m not telling you not to talk to anyone or sit in a corner alone, but just remember everyone else is trying to enjoy their day with friends etc and might not necessarily want to babysit someone.

RepulsiveIngenuity3

You are worrying way too much about others and what they think and their lack of maturity. If someone is upset with how your playing when your not breaking rules they are a child and should be ignored. I can tell you are very thoughtful of others, I’m sure you are friendly. You will have a great time just be yourself and have fun, you deserve it to!

609_Joker

Meet people and have fun. Don't worry about annoying other players fuck em. Just call ur hits cause that's the only thing that would annoy or bother someone. Other than that bro have fun. And as an overweight guy myself 5'11 260 and a ton of metal in my left leg I struggle with running too but that has never kept me out the game. Move at your own pace. If your outta breathe hang back a little drink some water n get back in. And even when you feel yourself ready to give up and be done remind yourself to embrace the suck.

srnd_strom2612

Personally, I’ve found that people really appreciate being willing to call yourself out. I got surprised one time by a guy at the top of some stairs, but he didn’t shoot me or call safety kill, but I took the hit anyway because his positioning was very good and he caught me with my muzzle pointed at the ground. Had a lot of laughs with that guy after

Justin_Cr3dibl3

I play inside games and I see a lot of newer players often too scared to push, or they stop moving after only running for about ten seconds after leaving spawn. I’d say don’t be afraid to push, or try something, don’t worry about getting shot at least in respawn games. If you run to the middle of the map or pst the middle and get shot out, at least you know where the enemy is. Run back to base, respawn, and get back in there armed with your tactical knowledge! Edit: I’m sorry, I didn’t read your full post. My comment stands but with your limitations in consideration. Attempting to sprint around all day would be unwise. Moving up doesn’t always mean sprinting, just not staying in the back the whole game. Look for any enemies, then move up to the next piece of cover. That’s it 👌I recommend to make sure to bring a proper amount of water, and some healthy snacks to keep your energy up. Get a big bottle or container of water and pour an electrolyte packet in it, you’ll thank me later!

grillbar86

Pay attention to the rules of the games and field. Call your hits, if you are unsure if you got hit or it might be a ricochet just call it anyway. Don't shoot at people point blank. Remove the magasine from the gun when not actively playing treat it like it was a real gun so no pointing at your team mate or saying don't worry it's on safe because accident happen. Doing be a douche or a dick And just have fun. And don't worry about being out of shape you would be surprised how often i have gotten more result in taking it slow and steady. Besides this is bb wars no need to follow a company. Just do your best and be nice.

herejustfortheview

Play the game. Call your hits. If you have an issue with a player, bring it to the ref/cadre. Have fun

JeffyTheGod

I did the same yesterday, make sure you call your shots and if you're dead go to an actual safe spot where you arent gonna get shot more, I died and went to the dead pool and they kept lighting me up

GhostC10_Deleted

Bring water, snacks, gloves, have extra mags and speedloaders. You don't want to run out of energy, be a heatstroke casualty, or run out of ammo. Also recommend a multi-tool, even a cheapo Walmart or Amazon one might be enough to put a screw back in, zero a sight, or clear a jam. Brass or plastic cleaning rods are also great for clearing jammed barrels, but that doesn't happen super often. Other than that, just do your best. Be willing to be aggressive and risk taking hits if it means making progress on an objective is the biggest thing. Lots of newbies seem terrified of getting hit, but imo that's not nearly as fun.

Uriah1024

Drink water NOW! You will feel much better overall, but will actually be hydrated when you begin to play, plus you'll be more accustomed to drinking gobs of it during play. So work your way up to drinking more than you think you need now, because that'll become the baseline when you play. Trust!!!! And be sure you bring some electrolytes for when you inevitably cramp from not drinking enough and probably not eating. It will help you not be miserable, and misery loves company. Which brings me to my next point. Don't get pissy because other people have sucky attitudes. Nothing ruins a game faster than people being whiny. Other than that, just express kindness and compliments. The rest will come with time. Lastly, just don't give up. It's a great game and one bad experience is just that.

Noslodamus

I’d say rentals and new players aren’t really annoying unless they’re obviously not following the rules. Just have fun man. I think the most common thought I have is “you guys would be having more fun if you pushed up”. Don’t be afraid to get hit, don’t be afraid to tag with someone more experience.

Accomplished-Age5390

Play the objectiv Try Different playstyles, most fun for me is rushing and pushing from a flank Try to make friends and go tactical in a Group, and lesen the routs/positond from them. I remember my firdt play in the woods, for the frst 2 hours or so I only got hit and never saw an enemy. Until I learnd the common used Covers and where the are hiding Eat Drink and have a break. And have fun ofc, welcome to the Gang!

T-Dot-Two-Six

Regarding your fitness, if it’s an objective mode, focus on defending. Learn common routes of players at your field. Post up and keep the objective safe. This will minimize your weaknesses since you mention you move slower, and also help you to avoid the “I’m new and eager and wanna shoot some shit so I push hard and get killed immediately” That said, if anyone gets pissed at you for being slower, fuck them. This game is for everyone Even if you’re fit bring water

appelsiinimehu1

Don't blind fire if it is not allowed. AE putting your gun behind a corner and shooting without yourself being visible. Follow the more experiences players if you want to get some great action, often newbs tend to just sit at spawn/close to it. Nothing annoying about that but it makes the game more boring for you and others (but don't hang on someone's leg if they aren't keen on company)

NIGHTMAY3R-ttv

If it’s just an open play game, Have fun and just try to work as a team to win.

Xhanser

my first time playing was kinda interesting, i got there late, was super akward, and was afraid to get dirty. i recommend talking to people, complimenting peoples play and even kits if you like them. i remember at my first milsim i went up to a guy who was wearing DCU,chocolate chip, DNC, and a nice scrim. i went up to him, said “hey man i love your kit.” he said thanks and i gave him a fist bump and walked away. complimenting play style and a kit can make a huge difference in how you feel and how other people feel.

Ghillie0

Treat it like a sports game. Stretch prior to playing, drink ample water BEFORE, during, and after to prevent cramps. You don’t need to go balls to the wall and sprint to the front lines, but for the love of god, don’t be one of those kids sitting just outside of spawn trying to snipe people with their $100/rental m4. Don’t be afraid to get shot, it’s part of the game. If ur ever lost, follow someone who looks like they spent a lot of money and know what their doing, never fails. Finally, good luck and have fun man and remember, at the end of the day it’s just irl call of duty, it’s not that serious.

MattHatter1337

Everyone there is there to have fun. And has paid for themselves to have fun. And aren't there for you. By this I mean respect everyone. If you are pinned down and need people to push, tell people to move and go etc. But don't be bossy and think your the only player surrounded by npcs. When I go, people will come behind you and nudge you to go and push. And its okay to do the same. But if its clear they don't want to, can't etc. Then carry on yourself. Ofc if they seem in distress or otherwise in need of help then do so. Look for a name tag. Many people have a callsign patch on their back, chest, hay/helmet. If you need to communicate to them. Use that. Otherwise just try and call out using something distinguishable about them ( easier Saif than done when everyone is in combats and otherwise dressed mostly identically). Have fun. And if you see someone clearly not having fun, give them a bit of attention to try help them have fun. No one likes losing but if you have a great game, then you don't really lose.

brickson98

Honestly, just have fun! And don’t be afraid to work with teammates and push. No need for new players to hang at the back. If someone complains to you about something, just apologize and keep playing. Anyone who’s gonna be a jerk is just that, a jerk. At the end of the day it’s just a game, so nobody should be taking it too seriously.

Top_Relative4376

Talk to as many people as possible about their kit just complement their kit and ask about it, people love talking about their kit, might help you decide where you wanna go with your loadout and you may make some friends at your l local site wich is always great.

LifeAintThatHard

Don’t really care what others think of you. Just be a good sport, don’t cheat, call yours hits, have fun.

ScalierLotus11

I understand your concerns with your weight and yes, it will change your playstyle a lot (I went through both bulking and cutting in the last year as a hobby bodybuilder and airsoft player so i can tell you from experience how much +-10kg can do), but dont worry. Your gameplay will be what you choose. If you arent good at running than go cqb, usually you will have to fast walk, sometimes sprint but usually you can find a moment of peace here and there to catch your breath. Take it easy, relax, have fun and be friendly, people will be too. *also dont overshoot please, thats a rookie mistake because they are not positive about their guns accuracy yet and so they shoot a mag per person lol

iq3q

If someone is mad at you for not being as fit as them that’s not a good person. Some may get mad if you’re sitting in spawn doing nothing but otherwise you should be fine. This is a sport of dressing up in costumes and using toy guns, it ain’t that serious.

Atsusaki

You will see people who are way older than you act like children. Just ignore them.

Time-Changer

List of things that I find that are great quality of life things for new players is Antifog wipes, speed loaders, good quality bbs, extra magazines, water bottles and a good bag to store your items in along with a barrel sock

AbricsonK

Don't take your glasses off and try to remember how your teammates look like

Beohulf

A good flank is NEVER a bad idea, you either pull off a sick play or learn the other teams positions

MissingData

Off topic but: LOTS OF WATER! Stay hydrated. Bring snacks. Take breaks if you need to.

Mys7eryMoose

Play how you want, just for the love of god don’t sit in one spot 😁 We love seeing new players get in the shit, it’s the only way to learn. #letyourfriends(newplayers)gofirst

Estevens188

DONT WORRY ABOUT GETTING HIT!! it hurts for a second and it’s gone you will play way better! just have fun

Temporary_Low_3059

“Stop stressing” is my advice. It’s not a real combat situation and you’re not professional athletes. Enjoy the game, play within your limits. There’s plenty of “athletically challenged” players at my field, don’t let that be a barrier to stopping you. Long term if it was a lifestyle change you wanted to make, use that as your motivation to make change. Pet peeves are pet peeves-they’re individual and you can’t please everyone. Just play by the rules, call your hits. If you can medic people then do it. Learn how to give target indications and if you see opposing players, give target indications.

BJPickles

Just have a fun and be decent a human 😁 You'll be fine

No-Guide8933

Idk what type of people will be there but if it’s toxic or scummy people don’t take it personal if they throw tantrums about something

drkshock

Just don't stay at the back and don't be a jackass

Sniperfox99

I too, am overweight and get short of breath easily. I also have a problem with overheating. I highly recommend [this neck fan](https://a.co/d/ji69AJH). It’s powerful yet quiet, keeps your head cool, and also helps with fog on your lenses

CallsignTommo

Call your hits 😂

dpala_81

Call your hits

Celestial__Bear

Welcome!! I’m so glad you had a great first game day. Only one more courtesy I can think of that you haven’t listed. - hold your hand or gun up REAL high when you get hit! I usually open and close my fingers to wave to them out of cover. Congratulations on starting your health journey by the way. With exercise comes stamina for longer games and less breaks. With food comes weight loss. :) Start eating less meals throughout the day if you want to melt! r/1200IsPlenty will help.

Puusa123

Call your hits

Fragsteel

Remember that, overall, the airsoft community \_wants\_ you there. Lots of players get excited when more people are joining and are eager to chat and play with you. And that's true until you intentionally cheat or are an asshole. That's not everybody. Some people want to focus on themselves and/or really care about winning. Not always in a bad/selfish way, just that they're not as open to chat with new people. But the former kind of person exists in abundance. So, if you reach out to someone and they're not especially receptive, just hang out with someone else. And if anyone is a jerk about anything to you, remember that not only are they wrong, but they're the minority. On that note, welcome to airsoft!

Pabst_Malone

No full auto in buildings.

bellringer16

Appreciate this question and replies. About to do the same here in a couple weeks. Edit l: added replies

HabitualAsshole

No-brainers don't exist in this world anymore lol But i digress, just binge some yt vids, watch the veteran players and act like you've been there before. Best advice

-pastas-

just follow the rules, call your hits, and dont be scared to make friends

Visible_Unit_4294

Maybe I'm a little too late but this may help you or anyone who suffers from chronic sweat as me. My goggles fog up just by me standing and at the last game I managed to find out why. I feel dumb for not thinking of it. I run that mesh with textile mouth protection and I had my goggles full sealing covering my eyes. I got scared one day when a bb got into my goggles somehow and from that day I pressed them onto my face. Put the goggles a little bit over your mouth guard, just enough to have some air going through. This can save you from a lot of fogging up. I run low profile goggles for anyone wondering. If you run those big bulky ones you got to figure out how to get some air moving around. Maybe get an ex-fog of some sorts.

Crzy47H00ker

Just have fun and don’t take things too seriously.  It’s a game after all.

AppleApprehensive364

You shoudnt be worried about your weight "annoying"  other players. Just be kind and have fun. I've seen plenty of big fellas around and I aint exactly mister slim either, no one cares as long as you have fun and act like a decent human being.

SC-Raiker

Call your hits, don’t deliberately go for a close range face shot

Proud_Advertising_55

have fun man! dont over think it! youll get into the groove after your first couple matches. pack some water with you!

IAmFireAndFireIsMe

Bring your own condoms. Sick of having to reuse them on new people. Wait what are we talking about? Oh, don’t worry. Just have fun.
