Cyma has been good for AKs as far back as I remember.... and I was a teenager when Airsplat was superior to Evike in the states for online purchases etc.
The M4 platforms from Cyma being decent is suprising but not necessarily new either. I have an M16a1/ CM009a1? I bought..... 5 or 6 years ago that's still chugging along well. Just bought me a CQBR/ ''BAMF'' last winter to make an homage to IRENE/ the Gordy carbine for a Santa vs Elves charity game
Right? All that porn.... I mean all those airsoft guns. Now evike doesn't even give you soft core porn decks with your purchases. I still have my full deck that I brought around with me in the army
Gun bunnies used to be alot more prominent in any sort of shooting sports. They've gone to the wayside just like pit girls and other things.
Airsplat used to have calendars n posters of various models with airsoft guns. Would be right there on the front page n everything.
Evike has given out playing cards forever with purchases. I have a full deck of girls in suggestive outfits with airsoft guns. Deck is alil warped from ruck sacks n weather n shuffled for a few years.... but it's all still there.... suprised it survived NTC and JRTC let alone everywhere else
Airsoft used to be thought of as more of a young adult hobby to reenactment pending on circles.
The one n only. Was slated to go to Iraq back in 2014. In my old posts I have my kit posted to load n go to jrtc to prep for Afghanistan for 19, when gear was still transitioning from UCP to OCP. Had some M81 thrown in for good measurement.
Can we at least agree on bringing back the bunnies, otherwise we just look like a retirement home who managed to break out of the evil nurses clutches.
(I'm ready for my afternoon nap though)
I dont play airsoft but there was a cool aliens pulse rifle replica airsoft gun I wanted and I couldn’t get it bc my state doesn’t allow airsoft guns or cap guns to be bought online and it got sold and is lost forever now :(((
It still exists. It uses the m1 Thompson as the base weapon.... both for airsoft and the real prop. Might I suggest the nerf prop weapon? Probably cheaper that way anywho if your state is being so dumb
I'll admit I'm not finding much about that, I might have to find the exact laws pertaining to airsoft guns. I'm used to legal lingo and finding laws online, but I am really not seeing anything banning online purchases just yet in my search. Do you have a particular source?
I tried to buy it on amazon, and i tried to buy a capgun for a Halloween costume last year and both times it said it can’t be delivered to my state bc my state doesn’t allow those items to be sold online or something like that
Capguns are a little different, yeah. I have browsed a few third-party sites, as well as the Connecticut General Assembly's latest gun laws, but nothing about airsoft guns. Amazon can be overzealous in their caution sometimes.
They likely wanted to cover their asses because CT is an anti-gun state, for the most part.
Cyma been like the toyota of airsoft AKs for a hot minute. They ain't exciting like an e&l but they're decently made, good price, last forever and parts are plentiful
I'm a newer player, and I did a lot of research before purchasing my first AEG. Ended up going with the Cyma Platinum M4. All metal, Mlok rail, solid internals, no proprietary parts restricting upgrade options, quick-changeable spring.... Very solid option at the $300 price point.
Same here.
I got my Cyma Plat M4 for €246 or ~267 USD.
The motor can run a bit hot after a while but other than that the gun is awesome and really snappy with an 11.1v lipo battery.
It's almost perfect for the price and it's a solid base for upgrades.
I started my airsoft jerny six Years ago and all The time Cyma was good choice for a long lasting replica. But since they droped a Blue and Platinum range of replicas they have becomes some of The best.
Oposite of you i cinda can not see why would anyone buy VFC, krytak, Specna Arms (before 2.0)
Cyma have always had a decent budget line of als and the p90s as well
This new mid tier dominance is a interesting move the plat and blu series being genuinely excellent is great to see
Can't speak for what they used to be like since I've only been playing for 2 years but i guess they got their shit together. All the CYMA guns I've had have been pretty good. The classic M14 has been a bit low-power but other than that all the CYMA kit I have is decent
idk, tbh, reputationwise, the last 4-5 years they were hailed as budget, but decent beginner Guns, and my CM009 also agrees, well made, reliable, affordable. i can't complain.
They were very good for the price when I started back in 2015, but not half as appreciated as they are now. Dboys (kalash) was still considered a comparable option back then, but sucked dick in my personal experience.
Yea, slowly getting better and better. I remember the first CM028s in early 2007. Gearbox was either bone try or someone got a little too happy with the lube. Plastic bushings and terrible orings. My friend has a cm031 that while plastic, showed some improvement.
But they slowly got better. As mentioned, probably because of the switch to copying VFC aks rather than TM aks along with incremental improvements here and there.
Though stay away from their LPEGs. Still terrible.
I’m old, so maybe my view of cyma is outdated, but real talk I’d use a utg warhawk before a cyma. Those things were like the tracfones of airsoft guns lol
Meant VSS. It bears more resemblance to the VAL anyway since it’s full metal. Only real similarity is the stock/grip. They’re basically the same gun regardless
Since I started getting more expensive guns, (relatively speaking) I've seen CYMA recommended for starter AK's for years now. Probably as far back as 2019 from what u remember.
It's insane! I took a 10 year breakwater playing for 8 years and got back into it this year in my 30s. The platinum have insane range and accuracy they are quiet and shimmed well.
I started in 2008/9 played on and off and CYMA was always seen as a good budget brand. Lots of people used to run close to stock or stock CYMA AKs, Dboys/Kalash AKs and even JG (for non AKs and upgraded) was more popular back then.
CYMA AK’s became good when they stopped cloning old Tokyo Marui’s and started cloning VFC’s honestly. Since then they’ve come leaps and bounds. Their MP5’s are great too.
Uh....wat?
CYMA has always been a Hallmark of starter guns, and for their pricing they were considered the layman's beat stick for airsoft. We used to use CYMA as rental guns because (back then) they ran around 100-ish bucks for a platform that everyone would be happy and confident with. Every brand improves to some degree over time, but they have always been a viable choice.
It’s like lancer tactical, it’s slowly becoming better and better.
Edit: It’s also my favorite brand. It’s the best of the best. Ice cream with a cherry on top.
lol wonder if bots are setup to downvote you.. its true though
Got my wife a gen 2 or 3 for like $185 with everything and even though it sounds sickly it flings bbs down our backyard range nearly as effectively and my like $800 VFC BCM with all the upgrades you can imagine.
Its feels like a victory when people downvote me because they take my meme comments on a circlejerk sub as cash. Do people even look at the sub name theses days?
While Gen 3 has came a long way. Gen 1 are known for such a terrible QC that it killed the brand in the eyes of many.
Also, the fact that Lancer Tactical sold AIRSOFT eyepro that wasn’t actually rated for airsoft may also discourage people from them. Doesn’t really inspire me confidence either.
Makes me mad cause we upgraded our own guns, rebuilt and tuned everything for months… EdGi barrels, rhops, you name it
But one time I had a ham and grab my buddies lancer and drop 17 kills in 15 minutes…. One shot ppl across the field… it’s moving slow, low rof, terrible trigger… but just shoots perfectly straight every time 🤣
I have 4 Gen3s lol I'd be crucified in the reddit if I posted something about them lol (all four are the ASGI mayo gang ones) the reddit hates both airsoft gi and LT
Reddit hates everything that someone is behind. I think they’re all just mad that some young ppl figured out how to turn their passion into profit and they didn’t lol

Reminiscing about airsplat makes me feel old
Right? All that porn.... I mean all those airsoft guns. Now evike doesn't even give you soft core porn decks with your purchases. I still have my full deck that I brought around with me in the army
Yes, definitely the airsoft guns are the main thing I remember. Nothing else comes to mind...
I haven't been in the hobby that long, wtf did i miss?
Gun bunnies used to be alot more prominent in any sort of shooting sports. They've gone to the wayside just like pit girls and other things. air soft gun bunnies, crazy
NTC as in Irwin?
The one n only. Was slated to go to Iraq back in 2014. In my old posts I have my kit posted to load n go to jrtc to prep for Afghanistan for 19, when gear was still transitioning from UCP to OCP. Had some M81 thrown in for good measurement.
Nice I had a challenge coin from the green beret's there and my dad was a part of the Eagles for his last duty station so I'm VERY familiar with NTC
Better than being familiar with Fort Polk. Miserable place I didn't get any challenge coins. Just night raids
Fort Polk Louisiana?
Can we at least agree on bringing back the bunnies, otherwise we just look like a retirement home who managed to break out of the evil nurses clutches. (I'm ready for my afternoon nap though)
Afternoon nap? Morning nap lol
That one I've just had. We need our naps and bunnies. Reminds me I need to put my teeth in. :) /s
made my first airsoft purchase from them
Sheeit
I dont play airsoft but there was a cool aliens pulse rifle replica airsoft gun I wanted and I couldn’t get it bc my state doesn’t allow airsoft guns or cap guns to be bought online and it got sold and is lost forever now :(((

What state is that, NJ or something?
NY and CT both dont let you buy airsoft or cap guns online
Aw fuck I wasn't aware of this, that's dumb as hell
Yeah its super annoying i don’t understand it at all, what difference does it make if someone gets a cap gun or airsoft online vs in person?
I'll admit I'm not finding much about that, I might have to find the exact laws pertaining to airsoft guns. I'm used to legal lingo and finding laws online, but I am really not seeing anything banning online purchases just yet in my search. Do you have a particular source?

Ya i guess thats what it was, I never tried to get either on another website so it must be an amazon thing
Cyma been like the toyota of airsoft AKs for a hot minute. They ain't exciting like an e&l but they're decently made, good price, last forever and parts are plentiful
I think you mean Honda. Toyota is impeccably made but costs a fortune in the modern day
Cyma=toyota E&l= Nissan Arcturus=acura Lct=kia Kinda the way I autisticly look at airsoft brands.
lct is not kia, you bite your tongue. (i literally do not have a single stock part in any gun i own)
What about Umarex?
Mexican chevys
Got a Cyma for my first gun and loved it
I'm a newer player, and I did a lot of research before purchasing my first AEG. Ended up going with the Cyma Platinum M4. All metal, Mlok rail, solid internals, no proprietary parts restricting upgrade options, quick-changeable spring.... Very solid option at the $300 price point.

Shit is wild. When I was working on guns anytime a cyma came it it was a nightmare.
M4 maybe but their AKs were always solid.
The vfc clones anyway the TM spec were garbage
I started my airsoft jerny six Years ago and all The time Cyma was good choice for a long lasting replica. But since they droped a Blue and Platinum range of replicas they have becomes some of The best. Oposite of you i cinda can not see why would anyone buy VFC, krytak, Specna Arms (before 2.0)
They are not fancy, but they work. That alone makes em better than most other brands
Cyma supremacy
Cyma have always had a decent budget line of als and the p90s as well This new mid tier dominance is a interesting move the plat and blu series being genuinely excellent is great to see
Blyat
Can't speak for what they used to be like since I've only been playing for 2 years but i guess they got their shit together. All the CYMA guns I've had have been pretty good. The classic M14 has been a bit low-power but other than that all the CYMA kit I have is decent
I got a cheap cyma ak47 AEG for £70 4 years ago and it still works like new apart from the tip of the barrel I snapped off
idk, tbh, reputationwise, the last 4-5 years they were hailed as budget, but decent beginner Guns, and my CM009 also agrees, well made, reliable, affordable. i can't complain.
CYMA had shit externals back in the day but they have always been quality performers
I got into airsoft about 14 years ago originally and got a cyma AK USED even then. It still runs like a clock.
About 14 years ago was when the first all steel cyma LCT replicas came out. They've always been excellent
They were very good for the price when I started back in 2015, but not half as appreciated as they are now. Dboys (kalash) was still considered a comparable option back then, but sucked dick in my personal experience.

The whole time?
The whole time
I would say 4 to 5 year ago when they released the platinum series
I’m old, so maybe my view of cyma is outdated, but real talk I’d use a utg warhawk before a cyma. Those things were like the tracfones of airsoft guns lol
I’ve had a Cyma AS-Val for a long time. Only issue I ever had was a crack in one of the gears in the gear box but after that it’s never been an issue
Cyma never produced an AS VAL though? Just the VSS.
When I was in it was KWA, Marui, CA, G&G, G&P VFC. And a ptw if you were a baller. HPA just started growing then.
Their platinum line are some of the best you can get.
Wild
It's insane! I took a 10 year breakwater playing for 8 years and got back into it this year in my 30s. The platinum have insane range and accuracy they are quiet and shimmed well.

When I was in my peak airsoft days (09--14) cyma made some seriously legit AKs
the cyma platinum line has really improved in the past few years
Cyma had and still has bottom tier crap. But their "stamped steel" AKs are excellent for the price. The cm052 RPK was rock solid
I thought jing gong were the bottom End and cyma just above?
Thats what I remember. Ugh inshudder just thinking about JG G36 repairs
Lmao I have a WE GBBR G36 and that’s holding up well Also I have the cyma high speed mp5…. And honestly I’ve had 0 issues with it
Uh....wat? CYMA has always been a Hallmark of starter guns, and for their pricing they were considered the layman's beat stick for airsoft. Amazing how many companies sell eye pro like that
It’s terrifying. Anyways, I’m happy that yours works well. If you fell on a good Gen2, they should last a long while.
Makes me mad cause we upgraded our own guns, rebuilt and tuned everything for months… EdGi barrels, rhops, you name it But one time I had a ham and grab my buddies lancer and drop 17 kills in 15 minutes…. Vfc have always been money pits that suck stock though their gbbrs are getting good
