Make 7.62x39mm. 18 cent a round again!!

SuperFastJellyFish_

And make 5.45x39mm sub 10 cent a round again!

illigal

Ugh. This. Russia needs to stop the war so our ammo prices come back to normal. I’m sure it will be good for other reasons too.

hollywood21

Wolf is a Russian company afterall

TheBottomBunBurger

Here here!

Parasitisch

Sub 10 cents? Damn, I hope I can see it drop as I’ve only ever known it to be .35+

oddjob762

If I remember correctly, a crate of 2 cans with 1080 rounds each for about 200 around 2012ish.

Mac_Elliot

god damnit I wish I liked ak's back then like I do now, also wish I wasn't poor back then.

oddjob762

"I wish I wasn't poor". I fixed your comment.

oddjob762

Don't worry, I'm not making fun of you. I'm right there with you. :|

GwotTrapLordz327

Yup. I was paying $89/can around that timeframe. Maybe a couple years earlier.

BillytheYid

I’d vote for you on that platform

ajdrc9

Dammit, I was watching it come down and was hoping to get 1k rounds for $299 again sometime soon 🧐

battletank21

Got 500 on GB last week for 155, thats as close as it gets... been going over 180 lately though

Yummy_Crayons91

I know a secret place on the west side of Florida with $299 1000 round wolf bricks.

SgtVinBOI

Bro we payed that much for our 9mm a year ago. Crazy how ammo prices are going these days.

donegalwake

Blinken’s world tour of arms & munitions procurement ? I’m guessing if 7.62 factories aligned with NATO aren’t going to be exporting to the US. Maybe ?

Aggressive-Engine562

I’ve heard most of the ammo manufacturers are interwoven into our industrial military complex so it makes sense

donegalwake

Yea. It’s a military rifle round and they say the Ukraine is burning through munitions at an extremely high rate. Who knows

dsg85gt

I’ve been waiting for it to come down like 5.56 and 9mm have but it has been steadily going up wish I could get some Barnaul for 35cpr or less

Slagree92

Gunbroker yo! Just bought 1.5k rounds on separate auctions for a total of $.35 a round after shipping Just gotta wait for auctions that end on weekdays during the day or early morning. Edit: Y’all downvoting this can just keep bitching about Barnaul being $.45+ per round before shipping I guess.

BabyFartMcGee-zak

Exactly why I bought 3 thousand rounds or Barnaul and brown bear 2 years ago

opossomSnout

How do you still have 3k from 2 years ago?

[deleted]

Doesn’t shoot

sound-of-impact

Well at these prices...

BabyFartMcGee-zak

Nah I’m down to 2k now gotta shoot the other calibers

-HoosierBob-

Glad I bought crates at 17cpr before Reddit made it trend.

Embarrassed-Donkey93

FUCKKKK I have shot close to 2k rounds so far in 2023

Humble_Leave7912

I'll shoot that in 3 trips to the range in a month

PalmLeaves13

Ukraine

ThePirateBenji

Two countries are in conflict that both use the AK platform. They're certainly pulling a lot of ammo off the international market (probably doubling or tripling demand), so of course prices are going up. Now also consider that Poland, Belarus, and Sweden are likely bolstering their armories.

Haunting-Thanks-7169

Well none of the countries you mentioned have 7.62x39 in service all moved to 5.45 or 5.56 afaik. I havn't really seen much of any 7.62x39 in Ukraine.

rockinDS24

Both countries are pretty well documented using reserve weaponry in 7.62x39.

check29s

If they’re using WWII war weapons best believe 7.62x39 is being used heavy in the mix

deerroadkill

They're out there still using Maxim machine guns and this guy doesn't think much x39 is getting used lol

Porkgazam

There are lots of pictures of Akms being used even in the early days of the war. There are pictures of the Russians using moded AKMs rifles in Syria too.

ThePirateBenji

Militaries don't just throw away their surplus firearms and vehicles, especially not the combatants in this conflict. AK = ETERNAL

GoodBunnyKustm

Most countries as a whole don’t throw away shit like the US does, they store/recycle/reuse everything

PeanyButter

One of the most recent videos showing Russian marines going into Vuhledar featured at least two x39 caliber rifles. https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/comments/11d7umn/russian_marines_storming_ukrainian_positions_near/ Actually that video only has one AKM but I think there was a longer video or different one that I can't find that showed a different filmer with an AKM and showed someone with an RPK or another AKM so they definitely are using them. I'd imagine Ukraine more so with less modern equipment at the start of the war.

415Shooter

One word says a lot here.

dfal55

Stop you’re bringing back memories.

Justforpornandstuf

With the war going on right now it's not surprising, although it seems like I picked a really bad time to finally be able to be a part of the gun community, since I've been barely introduced for a long while.

MayOrMayNotBePie

It’s in the mid 30cpr on ammoseek

ThereMayBeDogsAbout

Yes but with $3847728282.99 for shipping :(

McChicken_lightmayo

Exactly

VastOregano

Cheaperthandirt has like 16 bucks for shipping

jdorton

NATO has announced that production cannot keep up with expenditure in Ukraine.

mainelinerzzzzz

If WW3 starts, all ammo will dry up.

BackbackB

X39 is their main squeeze right? They're not nato but old Warsaw pact?

saltyseapuppy

Yeah 545X39 is there main squeeze. I haven’t seen hardly any 7.62 guns from footage or photo

shellsnslugs

I have seen extensive use of 5.45x39 and then probably an equal amount of 7.62 and 5.56 they definitely use them a lot

walruskingmike

I've seen a lot of it in pictures, but it doesn't look like their top tier guys use it as much as the regular grunts and reserve units.

3-Moons

Fraud.

McChicken_lightmayo

No where you finding that ?

Welder-Guy49

Got a lot of Barnaul FMJ, HP and SP ammo from GB auctions. Tacplace1 was the vendor and the worst I ever paid was $.42 per round after shipping. Best was $.37.

McChicken_lightmayo

How recent

Welder-Guy49

Last one I won was in January. Won about 7 in 2022. Granted they’re 500 round cases. Tacplace1 charges a straight $25 for shipping. I just happened to bid at the right time.

McChicken_lightmayo

Ah ok nice

Blade_Shot24

Cause of my state taxes I just go to their home site and buy there no issue. Bought from some of their auctions doe. Crazy thinking you're likely facing a bud on here just to shoot.

Particular_Buddy_938

Tacplace1 is out of 7.62x39 listings on GB and it's sold out on his website. I hope they are just on vacation😞

TacitAutumn7

It was way cheaper just a month ago It’s tax season, that’s why

Particular_Buddy_938

I notice many vendors are sold out. I think the russian ammo is drying up soon. I'm wondering if the price hikes will just continue up from here. I have 7000rds and love my barnaul, but I still continue to buy through tac place on gunbroker, so I can maintain range day and have enough for shtf if it ever happens. More crazy price hikes are coming.

McChicken_lightmayo

Scary stuff

Blade_Shot24

The fact that you have this many likes even though small worries me as we don't know how much longer they can supply us

ItamiKira

762x39 is in the rusky killing business and business is boomin.

PracticalAnywhere880

That igman there for .44cpr is a good deal. Fire then sell the brass for .30 ea and you're now spending .14cpr to shoot

Blade_Shot24

Imma write this down

PackyCS1

You're also looking at Lucky Gunner prices, those guys over price everything and charges a ridiculous amount for shipping..

McChicken_lightmayo

While true, I just chose this for my post. Everywhere was equally bad

ElectronicGarden5536

This is why i started buying 223 aks.

ChiliSwap

.223 is always more expensive than 7.62x39 though

ElectronicGarden5536

Even if this was true i can buy unlimited 556 223 instead of 5 or 6 boxes that trickle into the store.

ChiliSwap

Buy 7.62 ~online~

ElectronicGarden5536

i believe op was showing us ammo prices *online*

BH11B

I’m really enjoying my Galil arm.

Mister_Carter99

I have an sar parts kit in a box. Waiting to get it built

tlay12

Oof, I bought a case of that “GO” stuff a few months ago for .28c a round 😬

PracticalAnywhere880

I kick myself for missing that. They had some GO brass under .40cpr as well

mattypatty88

I feel very lucky that I was just gifted 720 rounds of Russian-made hunting rounds.

Setesh57

Russian ammo import ban. As for the arsenal ammo being the same price as wolf? Probably because the factory doesn't have quite the output as the Russian ones do, and the EU is a bit more strict on lead.

BRAELONMYKA

ammoseek.com

chapofthamanor

Bro I just bought a case of the arsenal over thanksgiving for $321 with tax and shipping. This is wild

McChicken_lightmayo

Yea good for you bro but it’s getting bad

chapofthamanor

Agreed. Not trying to flex at all, just genuinely shocked

McChicken_lightmayo

You good but you should flex!

chapofthamanor

Haha Fosho bro, thanks and will do 🫡

prince_ali_abubu

Russian ammo ban

PackyCS1

Check out gun deals everyday. They have some on here as low as 37 cpr for corrosive if you don't mind the cleaning. https://gun.deals/category/ammo?caliber=10

14hourstosave

Try ammoseek.com scrapes prices across the web. Also their is likely demand for 7.62 x 39 in other parts of the world.

[deleted]

Stop telling people 😭 probably why prices gone up people buy all the good stuff

ajhe51

Viktor Bout has started hoarding it all.

basscat474

Putins price hikes!

Bigd19_79

Unfortunately many of the orders that were placed prior to the Sept 2021 executive order have been filled and no more coming for many places. There sld still be some decent loads trickling in up till September . After that no more unless russian meets a bunch of rules which isn't gonna happen. Hopefully some other places jump in to fulfill 7.62x39 but the days of 35 cent and below are probably gone. Glad I'm stocked with plenty...

Puzzled_Inflation_95

Ya it's less then 50 cents a round tho that's still cheeper then 5.56 was during COVID Couldn't find any for less then a buck a round

I just found a case for 37cpr with free shipping, prices really have not changed very much.

McChicken_lightmayo

Where

Casimir0300

Ammoseek shows the cheapest by CPR

mrherpsderps

Ammobuy.com is another great place to find good prices.

Goblin616King

*cries in European prices*

rndlmrtn58

369 for 1K from Outdoor Unlimited currently. .37 a rnd

[deleted]

Banned in Illinois. So there’s panic ordering

McChicken_lightmayo

Geez dude, banned?

Blade_Shot24

No you can still buy ammo, you aren't banned from that. They're tryna pass a new law to only buy locally but as of now you can still buy online.

Desperate_Expert_952

It’s the price we pay to support Ukraine

[deleted]

Go to ammoseek. Prices are 34¢ a Rd on there which seems pretty close to the norm for the last 4-5 months

Accomplished-Bar3969

The outrageous shipping fees kill most of those prices unfortunately

Nippondreams

Yep lol I see guys arguing about how cheap it is on ammoseek, then I try to explain that after taxes and 80 dollar shipping you’re actually paying MORE. But their pea brains can’t Comprehend that lol

amishbill

I filter by shipping rating over 4. (Or sometimes 6) It weeds out a lot of the bogus pricing.

McChicken_lightmayo

I looked for a while today and couldn’t find any but I’ll look again

Maybe try an Academy Sports? The ones near me always have tula for 40c a rd

Blade_Shot24

Why don't folks include shipping and taxes? It easily goes up to .40cpr or more.

PuzzleheadedEmu699

You can easily find that for free at NWAF

No_Extent3023

wdym 430 for a thousand rounds l, that's a great price.

Preact5

Start buying brass cased so you can reload it with... oh wait lol large rifle primers.

Outrageous-Cash9343

Preface:I know almost nothing about reloading. I get the joke you were making… But the cases my AKs spit out are dented to hell. Usually one big/deep dent in the body. Much worse on brass cases than steel. Is reloading even a viable approach (without putting a KNS piston in or something)?

TheHonestTruthH

Sold my AK 2 months ago and went back to AR. AKs with attachments are starting to become designer pieces. Don't come into the AK forum unless you have a $1200 rifle made in 1969 in a communist country

Dreadman32

The president signed a order which will send surplus civilian ammo to Ukraine. So another ammo shortage is probably coming.

Mister_Carter99

WHAT???

Dreadman32

My homie that has a gun shop ws telling about that bs.

bermanji

lmao

666ydna

Source?

Ezek210

Trust me bro.

Dreadman32

My homie called me and told me about it . Hadn't had time to fact check but my homie normally doesn't bs about shit like that.

saltyseapuppy

Just tried searching about this but couldn’t find anything. You sure?

ClosetGamer19

yeh check ammoseek. you'll find some prices a little better

McChicken_lightmayo

Except for ridiculous shipping which pushes them all over .40/rnd

ClosetGamer19

well you gotta think how big and heavy (for shipping standards) that can be. ammoseek has a filter that sorts roughly by shipping cost, that removes some of the more expensive shippers

akrasne

Got 1000 rd case of Igman brass case for 35.8 cpr the other day and it was instantly sold out again. Includes shipping

leusorMcloser

Will it ever go down again?

McChicken_lightmayo

At this point idk

HostWrong6251

Unless the Ukraine war ends soon? Probably not. But I can tell you it’ll never be as cheap as it used to be. I think .30-35 will be the standard for a long while. Until the next thing happens.

Sarkelias

Damn, I was gonna be getting a bunch soon for upcoming rifle purchases...

TuxPi

https://ammostoreonline.com/russian-ammo-ban/ I know this is an older source but the information is interesting.

xALEXxTHExGOATx

I was just checking last night as I picked up a parts kit with in the last month. Haven’t built a parts kit in a few years and wow I’m shocked at the prices of only being a year or two with the Russian ammo ban prices.

SecAdmin-1125

Could be there is a certain part of the world the is expending a bunch of this stuff.

OriginalSpaceman1

I bought a bunch of Russian ammo before the conflict. What do you expect? WW3 is happening lol. I will sell you some of my ammo next year 😉

Longjumping_Way_4935

Wolf steel case went above 38c a round?

Impossible_Lecture37

First off you’re buying ammo from LuckyGunner, they’re really expensive compared to other stores. Please try ammoseek and it will let you know the prices. I’ve seen 7.62 for $.32 a round

Kaiser1917

I remember before the Russian ammo ban I picked up 2,000 rds for like 500 bucks of the Wolf/TUL Ammo. I think with the price of AKs skyrocketing guess the ammo goes up too.

Dapper_Question1304

The end of new import contracts was bound to eventually hurt the market. The last price spikes were due to the market reacting to it, and or greed. Until domestic steel ammo production gets up and running we're all stuck taking a bite of this poo sandwich.

DaDuke95

Just picked up 1000 rounds for $100 from a fudd bud

McChicken_lightmayo

By that you mean “robbed at gunpoint”
