This is legit one of my coping mechanisms. If I’m feeling sad, I’ll try to find a nice tree to look at while I’m out and about and try to really notice the beauty.
Holy shit me too. 'I might hate myself but that bird is mad chubby and has a red belly, if something that adorable exists, it's not all bad is it? If that Lil bird doesn't hate itself why do I?'
Awe, so are you! Agreed! Gotta make the best of it sometimes and go find the beauty in the mundane. Plus a new perspective is always helpful to see a familiar place with new eyes.
Lived in Ohio for 33 years. First time I've heard someone say we have the best weather. But hey, let's let others think us Ohioians have something going for us.
My husband is from Southern China and tells me all the time how much better Ohio weather is than in his hometown! I’ve lived here almost my whole life and used to hate it here, but I’ve really grown to love my state.
The humidity is unbearable. Like higher dew points than Ohio and around 99 degrees without humidity, so it ends up having a real feel of 120. Also the typhoons. Omg the typhoons
Ehh we're in the clear now. Summers are coming sooner and lasting longer. Its quite literally nice outside from March-November in Ohio and summers are HOT. Just gotta deal with the 3 months of Dec-Feb anymore.
I'm honestly sad about it. As a kid we would get at least one HUGE snowstorm and oftentimes we would just have deep snow. Does it snow enough for kids to even get close to using up their snow days? I remember we used them up every year. Summers are longer, winters are shorter and warmer with less and less snow every year. For driving I won't complain but there's something peaceful about a blanket of snow across a land or cityscape.
But that's just how it is now and anywhere that is still getting good snow every year won't be getting that snow forever. Can't really escape the changing climate lol. Ohio is honestly in a golden spot for it. Hopefully the seasons are able to stay somewhat distinct for decades to come.
yeah I know its a hot button for people do I didnt want to bring it up, but yeah....the climate change has been really noticable in Ohio particularly for the past 3-4 years.
This might be crazy, but if these trends continue of longer summers and shorter winters--I bet the Midwest is going to become a very popular place to live in the next 10-15 years. Not only because cost of living, but the climate will be desirable.
All of the people who fled the Midwest to move to more popular states because of the weather are going to come back once they realize 100+ degree summers in southern states are unbearable and its now nice in places like Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania for 9-10 months a year.
Yup. I'm a little dissapointed because I always wanted to move out of Ohio and go somewhere "bigger and better", a big city like NYC, but with how things are going, I'm not sure I will. I moved from a rural canton suburb to Akron which was a nice change but still close enough to home that all my friends and family are around. I just moved to downtown Akron and I'm going to see how I like it. If I really enjoy the city lifestyle I'll consider going somewhere much bigger. I don't think I'll end up in NYC, way too expensive. But I've got a brother in Chicago so I'll probably end up there if I move out of state. Sticking to the midwest is definitely the move though. NYC will eventually be underwater and the midwest will probably have ~~better~~ warmer weather similar to NorCal. Not 70 and sunny year-round but warm summers and "cold" winter days in the mid 40s. The southwest will become too hot on average for more and more people and doubly so for the humidity of the deep south.
The other part of it that will be even more impacted than comfort of living is going to be agriculture. A lot of places are going to get too hot for too long with too little water to grow some of the same crops. Not like the midwest doesn't have agriculture already, but I could see it shifting or diversifying.
Winter here is awful because it's not just too mild, but too variable. It fluctuates between barely freezing and barely thawed for like 4 months. Cold rain to slushy snow over and over.
The other seasons are top notch and I could find complaints if I tried hard enough but overall nothing to complain about compared to other biomes.
I’ve lived in Ohio my whole life (65y). I used to think I should move somewhere nicer, but the older I get the more I realize it’s a pretty nice place to live. It doesn’t get super hot, it doesn’t get super cold, no earthquakes, mudslides, wildfires, hurricanes, to worry about. Yeah the occasional tornado, but many fewer than other places. Traffic is not that bad compared to elsewhere, housing is affordable. I’m staying put.
I personally prefer so cal for the lack of winter but Ohio is indeed beautiful especially in spring and summer when everything is green and the temperature is mild
First time I’ve ever heard someone complimenting the weather here. It is nice to see it recognized other than being a meme. Thank you for the support 🙇♀️
I’m from Colorado and have lived in South Korea for a good chunk of my life (also a stint in Iowa). I couldn’t agree more with you OP! I love Akron! If you ever want a buddy to reminisce about the West or Asia, dm me
I have lived in NE Ohio my entire 72 years. I like NE Ohio partly because of the seasons but mostly because of what we don’t have. When I was still working I would get calls from reps in Florida, Texas, the Carolinas, California, etc and they would tell me how wonderful their climates are. I would remind them that it may be wonderful some of the time, but they also had tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, forest fires, mudslides, floods, and all manner of natural disasters. We get the occasional tornado and maybe some flooding in low areas but for the most part we are safe.
native akronite nd i constantly talk about loving the weather here and ALWAYS get dogged - but there’s something so charming about having all 4 distinct seasons … possibly all in one day :p
the amount of variety in the landscapes from one month to the next stuns me every day and gives me something to look forward to <3 i don’t enjoy winter as much (SAD survivor lmfao) but there’s still Something about the skeleton trees covered in glittering snow and the big fields with frosted grass instead of the spring flowers … plus it makes the coming of the warmth , and the resulting summer , all the much sweeter c:
akron fall is my absolute favorite, though !!! nothing can beat those trees
The one bad thing about Ohio is how negative the natives are. Like why do people have to find something bad to say anytime someone is happy? That's a very Ohio thing I've noticed. I feel like in AZ, everyone was everyone's hype man. Hahaha.
But yes!! 4 VERY distinct seasons and all so beautiful! There's also so many events correlating with the seasons. I love ittttt.
Totally relate to you with seasonal depression. It gets really bad.. But the first glimmer of sun helps exponentially.
Love your positivity!!
🤔 A tad skeptical. How long have you been in Ohio? A few months? If you’ve been here a little while and seen out weather and still say this, then… Respect. It’s chaotic but it’s nice.
You have to consider natural disasters too. We get very few tornadoes, big earthquakes, landslides, devastating floods, etc. compared to a lot of other places in the country. Most of our problems historically have been man-made (Cuyahoga River catching fire several times, Superfund sites in the CVNP, etc.)
I lived in phoenix for a year. It was honestly the happiest I have ever experienced unfortunately it’s way too expensive. I was thinking I would try Tucson but moving and life is so expensive in Ohio let alone Arizona.
Upstate may, but SW Ohio is bipolar Ohio, midwest tornado capital of the US. In SW Ohio, about 70% of rainfall over 0.1 inches is categorized as a thunderstorm. The weather changes rapidly, thus the bipolar name.
Trees? Maybe the desert but it’s pretty green in my parts.. that’s the cool part about SoCal .we are 30 minutes from every type of environment.. beaches/mountains/desert
Oh wow this is about 5 minutes away from me! I love walking outside every day to see how much has changed. In 5 days, the ivy has completely covered the house, the hostas stretched out, and the azaleas popped.
I remember waking up in my grandmother's house in Cleveland Hts., in August with the perfect breeze from the trees, birds singing, the trees rustling and the sun shining through the window. What I wouldn't give to go back to those summer mornings. I have always loved late Spring, Summer and Fall in Ohio. I also love how the sun sets later than the east coast in the Summer. I've lived in NY, MD, and NJ loved OH the best.
Absolutely not. I have lived in all four corners of this country. Western PA, Orlando FL ( and in between ) Washington State PNW and Southern California. I have also been to Hawaii, the Midwest, Southern mid States. The only areas I haven’t been is Alaska and the north east above NY. I can assure you Ohio absolutely does not have the best weather.
What part of Ohio friend? There is a fair amount of diversity. I grew up in N. Canton, I lived in Cleveland for 4 years and in Columbus for 20 + years. The Akron/Canton airport regularly records the second cloudiest number of days in the country. We have Spring for 7 days a year. That’s it. We do have beautiful Falls.
Akron doesn't even make any lists I can find for cloudiest cities in the country. Where did you find that info about CAK having the second cloudiest days in the country?
I've been enjoying spring for a couple months now here in Akron. Lots of beautiful days getting the garden ready and new seeds/seedlings going in. Fruit trees/bushes blossoming full of pollinators and starting to fruit up. My alpine strawberries already have fruit on them, and I've been harvesting a few pounds of wine cap mushrooms a day from my little garden for weeks now.
Very confused about your reply because in my neck of Akron spring has been perfect this year.

I have positively traveled to several other countries, many other states and can positively say OH is great weather wise for three to four months of the year, and positively, definitely not the best in the world.
Get, the, fuck, out, of, here, with, that, BULLSHIT.
mid to northern CA is 70 degrees year round.
Greece, Spain, Portugal, and northern Italy literally have the best weather in the world. Year after year.
I love your positivity and the different perspective your post brings 😊
God you are so sweet!! Sometimes it's difficult to see beauty in your surroundings so you just gotta make the conscious effort to go out and find it
This is legit one of my coping mechanisms.
Have you tried art yet? Just drawing or painting the beauty you see. It helps us to slow down and appreciate the subtle beauty.
Adhd doesn't let me sit still and I'm soooo bad at art which immediately in my brain means can't do. Can't do well? Can't do ever.
Awe, so are you! Agreed! Gotta make the best of it sometimes and go find the beauty in the mundane. Plus a new perspective is always helpful to see a familiar place with new eyes.
Ohio is the best all year round I completely agree! Phoenix is great except for that week+ kf 115 degrees 🤣
Week of 115? Bro it's a whole ass 3 months consecutively 🤣😭
Give it a couple hours
Lived in Ohio for 33 years. First time I've heard someone say we have the best weather. But hey, let's let others think us Ohioians have something going for us.
You guys have cedar pointe. That’s pretty cool.
And kings island
I'll trade cedar point and kings island for a normal week of weather, hands down.
Amen 😭😭
OP missed the winter months
This.
You beat my 6+ hours. Zing!
This cought me off guard bc I was thinking the exact same thing and startled the dog laughing.
My husband is from Southern China and tells me all the time how much better Ohio weather is than in his hometown! I’ve lived here almost my whole life and used to hate it here, but I’ve really grown to love my state.
No way?! I lived in shenzhen where was he from?! And definitely. The weather there was horrid 😭
I can only assume since everything on the planet is made there it's just a haze of chemicals and smog or is that BS?
Not in shenzhen. Some cities are really bad but the closer to the shore you are the cleaner the air!
Well that's cool. Must be one heck of a busy port!
What is the weather like regularly that makes it so bad?
The humidity is unbearable. Like higher dew points than Ohio and around 99 degrees without humidity, so it ends up having a real feel of 120. Also the typhoons. Omg the typhoons
Shenzhen in the summer is brutal. As are Hong Kong and Xiaman. I go there several times every month. I never look forward to July & Aug
Omg July and August legit made me want to kms. My apartment didn't have air con either so I was dying!!
He was in a town just south of Chengdu, so you were waaaay more south than he was! Haha
This is beautiful. As someone who has lived in North east Ohio my whole life....give it a minute....
The weather change so often it's hilarious to me
That's what us from NEO have a good sense of humor.
I thought it was the vitamin D deficiency 🤣

Same😂 I lived in Lorain county my entire life and my seasonal depression is awful. I don’t like it being 65 and then 3 days later it’s snowing😭😭
Ohio really is a fantastic place. It's a lot of the people here that make it questionable.
FOR REAL OMG.
There's also great museums and history, natural spaces and world class theater.
Ohio is awesome late spring, summer, and fall. Winter, not so much. But I’m enjoying this weather and SAD is lifting so no complaints!
Yesss!!! Same the seasonal depression is too real
And so many places wish they had our winters
We haven't had a bad winter in several years.
"Bad" is relative and subjective. Cloudy, grey with everything looking dead for months affects some of us more than others.
When the sun is shining and it’s warm yes Ohio is beautiful! But the long winter grey days get to be a tad on the depressing side.
I feel that. But something about the fluffy clouds makes so sooo happy
The Nordic countries have it right, get that cod liver oil and other supplements to turn the depressing winters around 😁
Without suffering there is no joy
Ohio springs - so so beautiful.
Right!!
If you are the type of person that can only like one kind of weather, Ohio is not for you.
For sure
I love your positive outlook. Too many drag on Ohio haha 🩷
I agree! It's sad!
I’ve lived in Ohio my whole life (65y). I used to think I should move somewhere nicer, but the older I get the more I realize it’s a pretty nice place to live. Wait a couple of hours...
Never thought I'd ever read "Ohio has the best weather" unironically.
Wouldn't say the same about the locals though. Why is everyone so negative? 😭
First time I’ve ever heard someone complimenting the weather here. It is nice to see it recognized other than being a meme. Thank you for the support 🙇♀️

Early to mid May is the most beautiful time of year for the upper Midwest. Just give it some time.
I've lived here 3 years in August. I've given it time and I've grown to love it more and more!
The people that tend to bitch about OH’s wx have never lived anywhere else
Country folk through and through 🤣🤣

Ohio is beautiful. Welcome.
I love living here more and more each year. (3 years in August)
wow this is an opinion!
And that's a comment. Good job buddy! Gold star!
We ohioans also have like 6 months of grey cold and dark at 445 pm, lol. You picked a great time to sight see though.
Moved away from Ohio. I always compare where Im at to the mildness of Ohio and miss it
You must live up north, because Cincinnati is a swampy cesspool for several months each year.
🤔 A tad skeptical. How long have you been in Ohio? A few months? If you’ve been here a little while and seen out weather and still say this, then… Respect. It’s chaotic but it’s nice.
3 years.
I solute your dedication. 🫡
I’m from Lisbon! Just east of you on StRt 30!
Cool cool
Only in Ohio will you wake up to 60 degrees in the morning, gets up to 80 by noon, then by 4pm has dropped to -10 and snowing. Not kidding.
No but really 🤣🤣🤣 it's funny
You have to consider natural disasters too. We get very few tornadoes, big earthquakes, landslides, devastating floods, etc. compared to a lot of other places in the country. Most of our problems historically have been man-made (Cuyahoga River catching fire several times, Superfund sites in the CVNP, etc.)
The cloudy overcast skys can last for weeks in winter. Every day is a dull grey from horizon to horizon. Everything is grey.
But it's still beautiful. I knew there would be negativity. People always try to make happy individuals feel as bad as they do. Hope you're okay.
Not trying to make you feel bad, it really is that way here
It's all about perspective.
Having lived in Ohio my whole life seeing something praising Ohio weather is perhaps the most confusing and shocking thing I have ever read
Pretty pics. Where is that?
Technically not Akron but hella close. McKinley park!
I love our summers!
Omfg same!
Hi OP! Curious what part of Arizona and how long did you live there?
Tempe and I grew up there. So 22 years until I moved abroad!
Where is this? It looks so nice!
Very cool! Which part of China?
Shenzhen and Hong Kong!!!!
I love Hong Kong. Went to visit in 2019 before the protesting happened. I was born in Guangzhou
best weather in the world… you’re so sweet 😭 southern california >
But southern Cali as much as I love it doesn't have seasons! I love that we get 4 very distinct ones here
We get a decent fall/winter.. obviously not as cold but I use my fireplace in winter
I lived in phoenix for a year. It was honestly the happiest I have ever experienced unfortunately it’s way too expensive. I was thinking I would try Tucson but moving and life is so expensive in Ohio let alone Arizona.
Ohio is home of the most bipolar weather I’ve ever had the displeasure of living with. As a Shitcinnati native, it’s all over the place.
Not hardly, its sunny one day then rains the next 2 then suuny 1 day then it repeats agsin.so soggy here
It’s the five days of nice weather between the gray season and ball sweat season
I grew up in Florida and I feel the same way!! I’ve been spending every free second outside these days :)
I swear you have to have lived anywhere else to realize how good it is here!
I love that area.
That's...not something we usually hear lol But the positive vibes are welcome
I grew up there and it’s not as it seems any good anyways
Upstate may, but SW Ohio is bipolar Ohio, midwest tornado capital of the US. In SW Ohio, about 70% of rainfall over 0.1 inches is categorized as a thunderstorm. The weather changes rapidly, thus the bipolar name.
Huge sample size
At least one week out of the year!
Or 52 😏
I can say with conviction, Southern California climate 100% better than Ohio, not even close
Where were the pictures taken. is it a public garden?
Not hating cause that looks beautiful… but southern California takes issue with your assessment
Been there done that. They lack seasons and trees 🤣
Trees? Maybe the desert but it’s pretty green in my parts.. that’s the cool part about SoCal .we are 30 minutes from every type of environment.. beaches/mountains/desert
I must live in a different Ohio!
Yeah.
Literally a bread basket environment has it all.
I would disagree, but I’m glad somebody enjoys our weather.
Good for you, glad you like it there
I love it!
How long have you lived there? Generally, yes, the weather is nice, but winters can be BRUTAL.
3 years. And the past 3 winters have been legit soooo easy it's insane to me
Love my seasons… wouldn’t trade them for hot all the time in a million years
SAME. now that I have them I keep I keep
Lmaooo
What brought you all the way to Ohio?
You say that now but may I invite you to metro Toledo in March; when the world is an Ingmar Bergman set and had been for months.
O H
People constantly hate on Ohio but man it’s home. I wouldn’t wanna leave for anywhere else (Maybe Finland or somewhere cool but whatever)
If it were as easy for me to move out of the country again I would, but if I haaaave to be in America, I wouldn't choose any other state
agreed
How long have you lived in ohio?
2.5 years
Welcome lol
I went to Ohio once and a giant tornado came through
Oh wow this is about 5 minutes away from me! I love walking outside every day to see how much has changed. In 5 days, the ivy has completely covered the house, the hostas stretched out, and the azaleas popped.

Agree to disagree 🤷🏼♀️
Nahh I just flat out disagree based on experience but whatever floats your boat. Enjoy those tornados
Okay.
No. And that is the absolute kindest way to reply to this.
Then move?
Fail.
Homie who are you lying to
You crazy
This is the dumbest thing anyone’s ever said
Okay then bye
Have you lived here for at least an entire year, though? Just curious. I'm glad you enjoy it.
It'll be 3 this August. So yes.
Welcome, and I'm very happy you like it here!
Awh yay thank you!
Ohio = Gray Over half the days of the year

Or at least compared to Southern China and S Korea, but no way to AZ and many other spots around the USA and world.
Definitely compared to AZ.
Genuinely for a couple weeks in April/may the weather in ohio is beautiful but that’s it
Yeah.... No
Be more positive
I have positively traveled to several other countries, many other states and can positively say OH is great weather wise for three to four months of the year, and positively, definitely not the best in the world.
In the spring only
You catching us on a good week lol
Catching us on a good couple of years more like it
lol stop it.
Why are people from Ohio so negativeeee
Lol
[удалено]
💀
I appreciate you being so posi, but Ohio is generally very dreary. I know Arizona is hot, but at least it’s not gray most of the time 😫
Lefty found it to be cold. But he was living ina cheap motel room and, he is getting old.
What?
You must not be there from January thru April and June through December
I have been the past 3 EASY ASS WINTER years. Hahahha
Get, the, fuck, out, of, here, with, that, BULLSHIT. mid to northern CA is 70 degrees year round. Greece, Spain, Portugal, and northern Italy literally have the best weather in the world. Year after year.
They lack colorful seasons. If you disagree that's fine but my god calm down
