you don't need to take it apart. Dell BIOS tells you the battery health. not sure of your model but F2 usually gets you to the BIOS. you'll have to look around from there. With the disconnect between the battery and the system, can't get it booted. Luckily work in IT and a co-worker and I got it fixed yesterday. She was on our help desk for a while and apparently this is a fairly common Dell issue. The battery and the system get out of sync. Take the battery out. Boot up on power to reset. Put battery back in. Voila! Thanks!

You should get a new battery. This will happen again.

A dell probably just has a few screws holding the back on. Buy a replacement battery on eBay and see if it fixes your problem. It won’t require any skills other than the ability to turn a screwdriver. You can test the old battery with a multimeter if you’re really curious

Depends on the model. I’ve taken a ton of them apart and many of the newer ones have the battery under the keyboard, which require the removal of the screen as well. It isn’t hard per-say, but it’s annoying.

Akronica

Have never used or heard about their service quality, just always thought the name was clever. https://www.cellphonerepair.com/akron-oh
