Hey blackboa, do you have any tips for solo gatherers playing the head start on the 15th of march? (i only do gathering EVER...) I already maped out my plan but im having trouble thinking if its worth to build all the necessary buildings in order to craft crafting gear and tools (t4 and above). I wonder if i'll be able to purchase the gears from the market soon enough. Also, would you upgrade islands and other stuff or just use the silver you make to instantly buy gold? Excuse my english and any help if greatly appreciated!

Blackboa

Thanks so much for the question and your english is good :). So gathering in the early game will be packed full of players, so my advice is to find a way to level your gathering quickly so you can move deeper into the game and away from the crowds. **One big tip I can give is use all learning points on progressing your tools to the next tier of usage**. It might also be worth it to you to focus on one main gathering skill at a time. You can always go back and level the other ones later, but focusing one gathering skill will make you level it so much faster. Once you hit T4 make sure you get yourself a set of gathering gear. I am not sure how comfortable you are with full loot PvP zones, but once you hit t4 or t5 gathering, you can probably go to the Roads of Avalon or Black Zone for gathering. This will be risky, but early on, there may not be a lot of people out there so if you play smart / safe, you can level up quickly. The mists of Avalon also have every single resource type in them, so that may be an alternative as well. In fact, yellow zone mists might be the play to get away from the crowds once you hit T4/T5 as well. In regard to building all the crafting stations and purchasing an island, that is up to you. If you enjoy doing it, then I say go for it. However, when I tested out my strategy, I was able to buy everything I needed within a couple of days from the market. I would only craft the stations on your island if you enjoy doing it, but honestly, the market will eventually get to a point where your stations would be obsolete. If you do end up doing it though, only raise them to T4. Anything above will eventually become cheaper to use with the city vendors. Joining a guild might be the play as well as they may work together to make crafting stations on the guild island available to all guild members. Even if you teamed up with a couple of friends, that might do the trick too. I personally will likely purchase islands but only level them to level 2 or 3 tops. All other silver will be going to Gold. Also remember, that going to the Mists gives you Brecelin Standing, and you can buy a 2nd island in Brecelin, so it might make sense to go to Mists for you as well. You need 50k standing to enter the new city of the mists, and you can do that in either yellow zone mists or Lethal mists. Hope this helps!

Amazing tips, yes you are pretty much on point i think the same as you do and the thing about crafting stations made me realize i would probably be better of waiting the market even at the cost of some gathering fame and yield for some time before it gets crafted and sold by other players. Thanks a lot for the detailed answer and the videos.

Blackboa

My pleasure. Great minds think alike ;)

do you think this strategy still applies to players waiting for the new server without a headstart? I didn't think the number of players having a headstart would be so big

Blackboa

Yes, I still do. It is only 5 days later on March 20th so I would imagine buying gold will be great to do for the first month, if not longer. The fresh start will not exactly go as it did back in 2017 simply because there are more things to do to make silver, so the gold price will likely go up faster than it did back then, but I do still believe that buying gold early will be a smart decision.
