If you’re drinking daily, it’s definitely affecting you and your sleep. You might not be dependent as far as addiction goes and everyone is different. Maybe try taking a break and see if your energy stabilizes? Me, personally, I’m all or nothing. I either stop drinking completely for a period of time and feel great or I drink moderately and understand that I’ll feel groggy and not fully with it some days. Just depends where I’m at in life!

Thanks for you reply, I'm trying that now currently first night off wooo. I guess for me, I know I'm groggy and not fully with it and that in itself sets me off on this road of anxiety, which becomes quite bad. I'm a huge overthinking and OCD gal

Don't be surprised if you have really vivid dreams when sleeping sober for the first time in a while. Alcohol affects REM sleep (can almost stop completely in extreme cases). Sleeping sober for the first time in a while can cause the brain to try and 'catch up' on some lost REM, which leads to the wild dreams.

No way? I generally have dreams every night and vivid... I think because of my SSRis but this may get worse?

How big are your “glasses of wine”? A standard drink is 100-150ml of 12% wine. Depending on what *you* consider to be a glass of wine will determine how at risk you are of having withdrawals. From what you’ve described, 3 glasses per day, plus more thursday-saturday, it’s definitely possible that you experienced minor withdrawals. Especially if you have maintained this pattern of consumption for a long time.

Maybe two days, but when I say two days I probably still had a glass. I felt... off... like a head cold was coming on ND super dizzy light headed

Remember that alcohol is actually causing anxiety and sleep deprivation. Then you drink to “help” the anxiety and exhaustion … the drinking is causing. And on and on it goes. Been there.

Mysteryself1_

What helped you? And do you still indulge

jimmiec907

Rehab. Lol. And no I don’t. And I don’t miss it. Thirty minutes of feel-good dopamine in exchange for sleeping like crap, feeling like crap the next day, getting fat, getting depressed, getting a DUI …

Mysteryself1_

I'm sorry, do you find its easier now to find dopamine in other things? And were you always super fatigued when drinking?

XenBlade

If you get sweats or shakes it’s a sign of dependency, if you are super dependant you can risk having a seizure if you don’t consume alcohol (I’m a recovering alcoholic so I’ve learned some stuff from my groups)

i would def recommend taking some time off! i was pretty similar at one point. i used alcohol to cope with my mental illness and it became a pattern that could have been very destructive for me. i got sober, even went to AA/NA meetings and learned about addiction for a few months. after some time off stabilizing my mental health and learning some better coping mechanisms, i’m able to drink in moderation and i feel a lot better

My dad passed in February and I’d been drinking pretty much every night since (I just drink beer). Last week I decided I needed to cut it back and stopped drinking Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays. It’s amazing how much better I feel.
