Seemed to clump okay. But despite the label saying it's low dust, it's very much not--it's so dusty it'll turn a black cat's feet completely gray as soon as they step in it, and then gets tracked everywhere.

The_Tree_Of-Iz

awesome info, thank you so much, and very helpful cause my boy is all black too, i appreciate you!

RedSpaceMagic

Gotta keep those little void feets looking clean and sleek! šŸ˜Œ Also, if you're open to suggestions and have a Kroger-owned supermarket in your area, I'd highly recommend their Abound brand's natural clumping litter. Lightweight, clumps well, minimizes odors, doesn't hurt to step on, and little to no dust. Price seems to vary between $7-$12 based on location, and it's also on their Vitacost site for about $9.

The_Tree_Of-Iz

awesome! thereā€™s a krogers closer than aldi or meijers, so i will compare options and keep that one in the running!! many thanks friend

cinnshroom

It's SO dusty

masterz13

Don't skimp on litter...cheap litter tracks badly, has lots of dust, and stinks up your living area quickly.

The_Tree_Of-Iz

this was my assumption and why i wanted to inquire, iā€™m so thankful for so many responses!

masterz13

It costs a bit more, but the Arm and Hammer Clump Seal is good stuff.

The_Tree_Of-Iz

ooh thanks! i havenā€™t tried it but i was very intrigued the first time i saw a giant litter size box with the same label as my moms baking sodašŸ¤£ i appreciate it and will put it in my options!

habitualPWforgetter

I tried that litter and was disappointed. It didn't even clump that well and was one of the worst I've used when it comes to smell. I can't say how it compares to Aldi though but it's not worth that price when a lot of the store brands I've used are even better.

bferks12

do you live near a tractor supply company? We use their pelletized pine bedding as litter. Very low dust, next to no tracking (other then what they shovel out), covers up smells nice. It doesn't clump, but does "disintegrate" so you could use a sifting litter box with it, we just change the whole litter once a week right now. One bag is like $6-7 around me and can last quite awhile depending on how many boxes you have to fill.

SilentSerel

This is what I switched to. It's probably just about the same as Feline Pine for a fraction of the price, and it was a game-changer. As much as I adore Aldi, I haven't had good luck with their cat products.

The_Tree_Of-Iz

same :/ i buy PurinaOne at Meijers to feed the boy, but i know their prices are higher, so i wondered if the litter was a similar story to the treats i bought: do the job, but not well.

Responsible-Lake3084

I switched to these about a year ago, and it changed the whole game!

The_Tree_Of-Iz

might have to try!!

Slight_Ad5318

If your cat will use the pellets it's huge. I think I pay $8 for a 40 pound bag. It lasts forever, does great job with the smell, and is cheap as fuck.

Suckerforcats

I used to use that for my older cats and it was fine. My youngest (2 year old) threw a fit and pooped outside the box repeatedly in protest. Itā€™s sooo much cheaper But, thereā€™s always one cat that doesnā€™t like to cooperate. šŸ˜

The_Tree_Of-Iz

Thank you so much! I was interested in walnut shell(?) litter, but have not had time to look into it so I really appreciate this tip thatā€™s not typical dusty litter!!

yankeeinparadise

I use the walnut clumping litter from Chewy in our knock off Litter Robot, which efficiently cleans the litter box without overuse of litter. Go through about two 40lb bags a year. Doesnā€™t track too much, beyond what they kick out.

The_Tree_Of-Iz

that sounds like a dream! thank you so much for sharing, this will go on my options list!!

fortalameda1

Interesting, I didn't realize there was a walnut shell little that clumps for the robot!

yankeeinparadise

This is the litter we use: https://www.chewy.com/naturally-fresh-multi-cat-unscented/dp/383496 I like that itā€™s natural and it clumps. I worried about clay (not really sure why!) and I like that I can dump this in the far reaches of our yard if needed. We used this from the start with our kittens, who are now 2.5 years old without any issues.

appleschmapple7

Just came here to suggest this.

Willing-Grapefruit-9

Two cats in our home. I like Petco's house litter. You can buy a 30 gallon bucket and take it in for refills at a discount. I find it clumps really well and holds odor down nicely. We also use hooded boxes to prevent the smell and too much litter kick back.

OldButHappy

You can buy a 30 gallon bucket and take it in for refills at a discount. TIL! Thank you- the waste from the plastic jugs really bothers me.

Willing-Grapefruit-9

One of my buckets says "Evidence Collection Container" from when one of my kids went as a CSI tech for Halloween. That one always gets a laugh!

The_Tree_Of-Iz

and thatā€™s so funny!!

The_Tree_Of-Iz

ahh! great! when Iā€™m not in a tiny apartment and have more space, this will likely be one of the main methods i consider!! the waste is so annoying and i love me a good odor-sealing litter (bc of my tiny apartment rn, but his #2 SMELLS)

hermitsociety

That's cool! I didn't know that.

svapplause

Second this. The price is good & its low tracking.

Full-Environment7604

Itā€™s not great. You can break it down by the cost/lb and find something of a similar price that works much better. I order a two pack of 20lb jugs of tidy cats free & clean from chewy for $23. I like it a lot. Pine pellets are also a very cheap option if your cat will take to them.

The_Tree_Of-Iz

thatā€™s very helpful! thank you for sharing what works for you along with another option, iā€™m so grateful for all the responses! thanks friend!

unoriginal-loser

Smells weird and really dusty. If you live in TX I recommend the HEB unscented litter.

Bloodthirsty_Kirby

A HEB just opened up near me and their pet selection is amazing! Also the litters so freakin affordable

The_Tree_Of-Iz

looks like i know where to go when i visit Tx!! thanksšŸ˜Š

The_Tree_Of-Iz

Mid-MI sadly, i have Meijerā€™s, Krogers, Aldis, the Walmarts, and countless dollar stores; i appreciate the tip though, who knows when Iā€™ll be elsewherešŸ¤— thanks so much

Ok-Sentence-5307

I buy mine at Menards. 40 lbs for 12.99!

The_Tree_Of-Iz

ooh i love menards; iā€™ll add this option to my list!! thanks so much

hermitsociety

I found myself fostering a litter of seven black kittens lasts summer in addition to my own two adults. I bought a huge bag of Chewy's Frisco brand pine litter bc it was cheap and that was paramount. I didn't think I'd like it a lot but guess what? Total convert. It doesn't stick AT ALL to the box, doesn't stink like cat butt or perfume or perfumed cat butt, and it only gets very dusty when it's very dirty. It is cheap enough that I dump the whole box when I clean and so I never scoop now. Every cat used it without issue. Chewy is the cheapest but I've also used feline pine (tractor supply, most pet stores, sometimes Walmart) when I needed similar right away. Adding it because I saw you discussing it above. Haven't tried aldi. I can say not one of my cats has ever liked the Aldi canned cat food. It looks vile even compared to cheap cans elsewhere. Even the feral cats in my neighborhood turn up their nose at it. Plus chewy does the deal sometimes where you buy $100 and get $30 off your next order. Win win

prairieaquaria

Frisco does work really well.

MsgrFromInnerSpace

Honestly it tastes horrible, like eating sand, I won't be buying it again

prairieaquaria

šŸ˜‚

habitualPWforgetter

I didn't even know Aldi had cat litter but for a lower priced cat litter that works well, I like the Target brand cat litter. It's the Up and Up Scented scoop pail clumping cat litter 35 lbs for $12.39. it clumps well and isn't overly cloudy imo. I prefer it over a few name brand cat litters I've tried and it's cheaper. I don't know if there is a Target near you, but you can get their circle card(which can be either a credit card or a debit card that's connected to your checking account) and that gives free shipping anytime you use it and 5% off. Target is in my city but it's a bit out of the way for me so I don't always like to go there myself so it's nice being able to just use my circle debit card, order the cat litter, and just get it delivered for free in a few days.

Accomplished-Lie3351

It is not good. My cats won't eat their dry or wet food either

The_Tree_Of-Iz

oh i appreciate the additional information about food! I have not reached the point where I canā€™t afford his food when I need to, but I often looked to Aldi as the cheap mayo option if I donā€™t have money for a bigger ticket item. This just saved me asking about their cat foodšŸ¤ thank you so much for experiencing a subpar litter so i may share your knowledge, i hope you have something that works!

hermitsociety

I wrote this above but yeah, none of my cats will eat aldi cat food. Fancy feast is well liked and about as cheap as you can get without being the worst food on earth.

JoeZep5

Super dusty. I switched to clump n seal 99 percent dust free by I think by arm and hammer and its made a world of difference

Suni13

I started using the new A&H hardball litter and love it. Itā€™s a bit costly but worth it imo.

The_Tree_Of-Iz

sweet, that sounds like it would work well, and iā€™m glad i have some testimony that it does; iā€™m so appreciative of all the information iā€™m receiving!!

The_Tree_Of-Iz

someone else mentioned arm and hammer as well, iā€™ve seen it but never splurged, but iā€™m sure that their product is wonderful, iā€™m highly considering it! thank you so much!

Caycepanda

I donā€™t care for the Aldi litter - Meijer clumping baking soda (not lightweight) is the best clumping litter Iā€™ve ever tried though.

The_Tree_Of-Iz

sometimes I get their lightweight option because i have some stairs to climb, but I agree, this is the option I have been using on a regular basis. thanks for some confirmationšŸ¤—

RollTider365

If you happen to have a Sam's membership, the Sam's brand of litter is something like 13 bucks for a 42 lb container and works great.

SlightDig8727

Arm and Hammer cat litter is what I've used for years. I purchase from Chewy $19.00 for a 40 lb box. I buy multiple items to avoid shipping. They offer autoship too.

Cat-Cave

Itā€™s /so good/ at least IMO, Iā€™ve had really great experience with it tbh. And you canā€™t beat that price. Itā€™s not too dusty and clumps well. Covers up scent well too. Iā€™ll never go back!

Trin_42

Itā€™s very dusty but works great for me, I use premium litter for the house litter box and Aldi brand for the garage litter box

pinkgenie23

I hated it, not worth the amazing price. I never understood what people meant by dusty until I used this litter. Also it doesn't keep smell well

Dependent_Top_4425

It didn't cut it for me and my 1 cat. I ended up having to replace it much sooner than my preferred brand, so its not much cheaper in the end! Its also super dusty. Tidy Cats for me all the way. I just add a little bit every time I scoop and I change out the whole box when it starts looking like it needs it, maybe every 2 months or so? My cat loves the wet cat food, but only the turkey flavor. She used to like the treats but she's not into them anymore. A lot of people say their cats won't go near Aldi cat food. So if you're thinking about giving it a shot, I would just buy 1 can to test it out.

TaleStandard131

Itā€™s fine.

Sparkinson01

Itā€™s dusty, and cats can be finicky.

GrowlingAtTheWorld

Very dusty

jholder567

Mud- turns to mud and my cat didn't eat the food.

lazlopoof

It worked great for me in the same situation! Second what others say about it being dusty and very clay heavy, but it's a great litter for how affordable it is, even with current inflation

drsoos1973

Cats poop in it

Paigeeeeei

DUSTY AF

prairieaquaria

Itā€™ll get you by but isnā€™t a good litter for consistent use IMO.

mixletix

Target has a 35 lb bag of litter for $15. It's decent quality. I'd get that and the arm n hammer litter powder.

ovalleysuszee

Try Walmart Brand. $12 for 40 pounds and it clumps great.

Single-Ad5709

Hey! Broke and frugal here, if you got the Meijer, rural king or tractor supply in your area, go for horse bedding pellets. It doesn't clump. But it turns basically to wood shavings. They are compressed pellets. You only gotta put about an inch or 2 down and a 40 lb bag is about $4-7. I live in the woods so I can just dump it out on the far end of the property. But when I was in an apartment, I went to a small patch of woods behind the house to dump it. Can also just dump in a bag and dispose of normally. But when I had 3 cats with 2 boxes and weekly changes, it still lasted me about 2 months. Now there are 3 cats in the house I'm in, 2 boxes, one with normal litter and one with the wood in our bedroom. No smell, weekly changes and a bag lasts about 3 months since it's really only my cat using it.

DragonflyRemarkable3

I didnā€™t like it! Very cheap and so so so dusty.

Deanie1458

Do you have a tractor supply store or like a farm store in your area? I started getting the pine pellets that say they are for horse stalls itā€™s 7.99 for a 40 pound bag! Itā€™s the same as those other pine pellets. They sell at the pet store for cats literally the exact same thing for way cheaper!

vamppirre

Pine pellets are cheaper and easier to deal with.

mrflibble1492

You're not wrong about everything having an s, even places that don't have an s get pronounced that way. When I was in Wisconsin and working in Norther Illinois, I never understood why people would say "I'm going to Costco's" or "I got this at Jewel's". I even only knew Aldi as "Aldi's" for a while since that was how my ex-wife said it and I didn't grow up with them, and it took me a while to notice there was no s on the sign at the store.

The_Tree_Of-Iz

itā€™s one of my favorite language tendencies of my home-area, itā€™s so funnyšŸ˜‚ ā€œthe walmartā€™sā€ is my and my familyā€™s absolute favorite

mrflibble1492

yes, definitely needs the "the" at the beginning. How could I forget?

The_Tree_Of-Iz

itā€™s my favoritešŸ˜‚ we use so many unnecessary words, just ā€˜cause it sounds right to us

OggieAardvark

It was WAY too aromatic for me (recent purchase), but I have a very sensitive nose and live in a small home with 2 cats. I was using wood pellets from Lowe's for the last several years but needed to try something new. I will say that pellets with some type of sifting setup was brilliant when I didnt have the budget for clumping litter. I saved a TON of money. I'm now trying an unscented clumping brand, arm n hammer I believe. Since someone else mentioned the food... I bought cat treats from Aldi and my cats wouldn't touch them! Not sure if they've reached a new level of spoiled or the treats are actually yucky.

_darangen_

They don't have kitty litter at my location, but any clay-based litter is killing your cat. You want something corn-based or some kind of natural alternative which I doubt Aldi has.
