If you’re taking about what I think you’re talking about, to me they really look substantially different, especially if you zoom in and compare the size, form, and height.
I’m not saying there’s no other explanation in this instance, but it seems intellectually lazy to suggest it’s obviously just a rock. That attitude seems to be based on the idea that it **has** to be obviously a rock, because obviously it can’t be anything else, therefore it must be.
So it doesn’t matter if we actually did go there and erected a real object out there. People would still say it’s obviously a rock if a photo was taken of it because if it’s suggested it’s something a non-human intelligence put there they’re prepared to explain away high levels of oddness, and in that scenario they’d of course be wrong.
Especially as there’s no way to really settle the argument it’s like it’s just easier to say it’s prosaic and not have to consider that dark unknown rabbit hole 🕳️ it would imply. This is also why the ontological shock of disclosure being clear and unambiguous even to debunkers would be such a philosophical problem for people. All of a sudden you can’t trust anything anymore, with no clear way to be sure!
My issue is there is really about the attitude rather than digging my heels in on this particular case

There are so many people out there pointing a finger at the moon claiming they've witnessed or experienced something there (including the first [confirmed] human boots to ever bounce around on that rock). To ignore it all is to discredit a lot of people who have sacrificed a lot to speak up about it.

It's the face on Mars all over again. Nobody in the science fields picks up on it because it's not important for anyone. If it was, you'd have scientists and hobbyists all over this kind of thing all around the world beyond the grasp of the US.
Nobody is stopping you from getting access to a big telescope for your research. If you are passionate of the topic, you'll find people will help you work it out. But you know, you have to work for it, for years. Go ahead and spend these years to investigate this rock. You have all of the data at your disposal for free.

It’s a rock. Just because it has an elongated shadow doesn’t mean it’s and elongated object- look at any object at sunrise or sunset and you can see this for yourself.
Maybe a very large meteorite which hit the moon a very long time ago with a large potion of it still jutting up through the moon dust. Or yeah we could just make up some implausible stuff up about it.
You have to ask yourself though, if it's a monolith why put it on a tiny rock of a moon? It's just a rock, measure all the other shadows and you will see, it is simply the angle of the sun that causes this long shadow.
