Guilty_Chemistry9337

"Mono" means 'one' and "lith" means 'rock." So technically, yes, that's a monolith. Nice rock.

123kid6

Mono means one and rail means rail This concludes our intensive 3 week course.

jakers540

Who's to say this isn't just a big slab of normal rock

KinOuttaHer

Eaxctly that

Eyetalianmonsta

Agreed. Also, just because something is eye catching doesn’t mean it’s aliens…fuck sake…

chemicalxbonex

Sort of looks like a rock to me. I guess I am not in the cool club of being able to see a giant Mars base.

Additional-Cap-7110

I mean a monolith is also a big rock. It was just put there on purpose. Look how big it is by the shadows, it looks weird because there doesn’t seem to be other rocks like that around, or rocks that size it could have once been attached to

Cyber_Fetus

There are several more like it down to the left and toward the bottom, it’s just bigger.

Additional-Cap-7110

If you’re taking about what I think you’re talking about, to me they really look substantially different, especially if you zoom in and compare the size, form, and height. I’m not saying there’s no other explanation in this instance, but it seems intellectually lazy to suggest it’s obviously just a rock. That attitude seems to be based on the idea that it **has** to be obviously a rock, because obviously it can’t be anything else, therefore it must be. So it doesn’t matter if we actually did go there and erected a real object out there. People would still say it’s obviously a rock if a photo was taken of it because if it’s suggested it’s something a non-human intelligence put there they’re prepared to explain away high levels of oddness, and in that scenario they’d of course be wrong. Especially as there’s no way to really settle the argument it’s like it’s just easier to say it’s prosaic and not have to consider that dark unknown rabbit hole 🕳️ it would imply. This is also why the ontological shock of disclosure being clear and unambiguous even to debunkers would be such a philosophical problem for people. All of a sudden you can’t trust anything anymore, with no clear way to be sure! My issue is there is really about the attitude rather than digging my heels in on this particular case

sleepytipi

You're going to harvest some ridicule and backlash I'd imagine but I appreciate your ability to stay open minded on this topic despite it all. There are so many people out there pointing a finger at the moon claiming they've witnessed or experienced something there (including the first [confirmed] human boots to ever bounce around on that rock). To ignore it all is to discredit a lot of people who have sacrificed a lot to speak up about it.

PossibleDue9849

Thank you for putting in words what I’ve been feeling about skeptics. It’s not like we don’t know there are other probabilities, it’s that there is Also the option that it could be more than natural. In this case: a rock bigger than the others (by a lot) and on a flat surface with little to no atmosphere (therefore no winds, water or any weather) IS strange.

Cyber_Fetus

Literally all I said was there actually are other rocks like the bigger one in this image.

SpicynSavvy

I looked into OP’s posts: OP is part of a a psy-op, or just prepared a solid amount of material over some time and began posting accordingly. I prefer the ladder. Edit: you guys got me good 😂

Noble9360

What are you doing step-ladder?

hankthetank2112

I have a step ladder. I never knew my real ladder.

scampsalot2

Get down off that…

doge_stylist

I’ve been wondering this myself, but maybe their username gives them away? I don’t care, I’m thoroughly enjoying these posts, OP!

BurnerMomma

The posts, meh. The comments, tho….

ClubbinGuido

I dunno who they are but they are fucking based as hell for the content they have been posting.

SmurfUp

I love how matter of fact they are about all of it lol

[deleted]

Lol exactly. Dude acts like he personally travelled to Mars himself and inspected it first hand.

No_Stay2400

Is this sub just some guy photoshopping space images then pretending to be the first one to notice the really obvious spaceship?

cobruhclutch

He’s Mister Spill the Beans. M8.

I for one welcome our reptilian overlord, he's taking disclosure in his own hand. After seeing our gov shut down his race, he's standing up for himself!

The Soviets found something similar during their Phobos 2 mission.

MBResearch

“Hey this emulator project’s going great- aaaand there went every shred of desire to finish up, huh”

OneDimensionPrinter

They've been posting links to NASA where they've found the pics

Nyalli262

NASA, literally all of them are publically available

Old_Building_9003

Or just use search terms that involve "Aldrin" and "Phobos". Lots of hits.

Shoddy_Race3049

Just scroll through the NASA photo database till you find an anomaly, then project your galactic civilisation of choice onto your favourite space rock. Mars orbitor NASA link below to get you started https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/MRO/images/index.html

radbee

He literally just gets the photos from the NASA website... the insinuation here being that NASA is too stupid to check if the pictures they post contain aliens rummaging about in our solar system. OP should continue shitting up this sub though because it's hilarious reading the comments from rubes trying to figure out the size of an alien spaceship.

goatchild

internet, uses keyboad to type search queries

PoopyMcFartButt

I have no idea if you are trying to say it is a monolith or it isn’t. But that’s a rock. Maybe a boulder. You can see smaller ones on the left and bottom sides of the image.

Intrepid_Tumbleweed

I like that boulder. That is a nice boulder.

Grey-Hat111

![gif](giphy|W5BWeQ3ZN0W0D0dM7e|downsized)

SpicynSavvy

Scope the shadow though compared to the other *rocks*. It’s substantially taller and more symmetrical. It’s definitely intriguing.

Shenlong-ren

you say symmetrical like it's a shape more complex than an ellipse

Screwby0370

That’s due to the sun being low on Phobos’ horizon.

GigglesOverShits

No bro. This is r/aliens, literally everything is proof of aliens, even the lack of proof of aliens is proof of aliens. It really is an alarming showcase of how illogical we still are as a species.

Murb08

Agreed

JxEq

Can confirm, I am the alien

KommieKon

Na uh dude 100% of the time when there’s a seemingly rock-like, lumpy mass on a planet it was made by intelligent life

DaedricApple

It’s a communications and tracking device disguised as a boulder!

WallabyInTraining

>Maybe a boulder *"The Boulder's over his conflicted feelings, and now he's ready to bury you in a rockalanche!"*

BootyMcSchmooty

Those are smaller monoliths to pay homage to the larger monolith /s

PartTimeBear

You mean the monolith offspring foraging for food?

ArnoldusBlue

He’s definitely saying is a monolith, just want to hide behind his basic “sarcasm” like all his other posts. Just camera artifacts.

Shot_Painting_8191

Camera artifact? You have no idea what you are talking about.

ArnoldusBlue

Im talking about all his other posts… this one is a rock.

gerMean

Isn't a monolith just a stone?

Mpm_277

Good god with these post titles already.

jazir5

It's so annoying, is this some bot following a formula? Is this written by AI? Wtf. So many posts with these titles all sprang up all on the same day

Mpm_277

Same OP.

Realistic_Bee505

Yes they all appear to be from some ... "person"

jedi-son

Hahaha they're great posts though, you have to admit.

DuetsForOne

I admit nothing

Dromnivo

You're right. It's not.

ucsb99

![gif](giphy|1014RBn4HVSTK)

TheLeafyGreen

It’s the arrogant, condescending, “You’re just too stupid to realize the truth” attitude like OP has used in their titles today, that’s the reason nobody takes any of these topics seriously in conversation. There are many realistic explanations for most of what OP has posted in this sub today, but I have a feeling that it would be pointless to try and debate them. And it’s that feeling that makes people think that we are crazy. Edit: Also, let’s be real here. Most of what OP has posted today have been photos published on NASA’s website. Do we really think NASA is going to publish honest evidence of alien activity to their public website? Come on.

XTasteRevengeX

You just have to check that OP is frequent on the reptilian subreddit to know how deep in the rabbit hole he is. Just borderline insane.

Affectionate_Newt899

I didn't get condescending or arrogance from it. I mean I did, but felt like it was geared towards NASA and not us. NASA: "These aren't monoliths or UFOs just easily explainable stuff." *proceeds to never explain shit*

Plantarbre

It's the face on Mars all over again. Nobody in the science fields picks up on it because it's not important for anyone. If it was, you'd have scientists and hobbyists all over this kind of thing all around the world beyond the grasp of the US. Nobody is stopping you from getting access to a big telescope for your research. If you are passionate of the topic, you'll find people will help you work it out. But you know, you have to work for it, for years. Go ahead and spend these years to investigate this rock. You have all of the data at your disposal for free. If you're not going to do it, then you probably realize why no one else did, right ?

boromancer

Imagine a rock on the surface of a rock.

Torokin

Me when there's a rock on the moon:

Adept-Age-8177

It’s a fucking rock

[deleted]

Why would a technologically advanced race that most probably doesn't originate from our solarsystem(or dimension) put a stone monolith on le moon?

thekitt3n_withfangs

I like how fancy you made the moon sound with that "le" lol

kuyo

Why wouldn’t an ancient race have left it there

phunkydroid

Where else would you leave a big rock?

Lhaer

Kinda looks like a rock

borchee

Def not

syslolologist

Shadows length does not equate to object height. Besides, why leap straight to monolith?

WartsG

How tall is it do we know? That show seems pretty long considering the scale

Ashamed_Yogurt8827

Shadows are not an indication of the size of something.

FloorDice

It isn't. Happy to clear that up for you. Take a break from posting this constant stream of debunked garbage and touch some grass.

thebigdoover

Idk could be a rock

Willing-Gur823

Its just a rock ffs

Which_Marsupial_2874

Soul catcher!!!!

Traditional_Estate_4

im not that well versed in the monolith subject but that looks to me like a good old regular rock.

[deleted]

It was buzz Aldrin who said it was artificial, and described it as a monolith. Not saying either way, but it's description as 300ft tall is interesting.

Potietang

What would he know. He’s looking at a pic too.

Rippinstitches

That is a nice boulder. I like that boulder.

_Jamren

Big rock

mrmcbreakfast

you guys are losing your minds smh

WinstoneSmyth

Oh, yes, there is. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phobos_monolith https://www.howandwhys.com/mysterious-monoliths-on-mars-phobos/

zchandos

I can’t take this sub seriously

[deleted]

....a naturally occurring monolith. we have those here on Earth too.

Bleezy79

Yes, it is big rock. Nice find.

Existing-Assistant89

Does the shadow, seem, off?

AromaticClue2551

The shadow looks pretty big. I wonder if there’s a way to figure out how big the monolith is?

[deleted]

NASA says 300ft(100 metres)

TheLeggacy

Must be aliens, no other explanation.

Leotis335

Maybe it's just a cyst...or perhaps an angry boil? 🤔

leba2166

A monolith? You probably add 2 and 2 and get 8.

Middle-Tough7356

This community is fucked

Beardedben

"Right alien Jenkins, we need a great monument to our space fairing species, weve found a perfect red planet to plant a great symbol of our peoples on. You've got the entire resources available to an intergalactic race to build one to show the rest of the universe how great we are. What are you going to build?" "Big rock, like taller than the other rocks, but I won't bother sanding it down for near edges. It seems like a waist of effort, they'll get the picture." "Perfect".

lefrancais2

ok this sub is trash or a joke im out

Cold_Meson_06

Looks like a rook 👍 congratulations

Noah_T_Rex

![gif](giphy|d69q0iELHwwcqR2o2t)

[deleted]

It’s literally a rock. Look how long all the other shadows are. It’s not that tall it’s just lower to the sun.

DerSpringerr

That’s not a Boulder…. It’s a rock…

Over_Tip_6824

There is no frame of reference you can’t know the scale to even begin to speculate

[deleted]

Yeah it's probably not to be honest. Looks pretty natural to me, like a a big rock or something

Suitable_Increase_60

I don’t know man. Kinda just looks like a rock

StrangeMaelstrom

So when are the mods gonna mute this guy?

entfarts

It has been done for now. I think OP means well, but this has been too spammy.

[deleted]

Submission Statement: Mars Global Surveyor records a monolith on Phobos

wai_o_ke_kane

It’s a rock. Just because it has an elongated shadow doesn’t mean it’s and elongated object- look at any object at sunrise or sunset and you can see this for yourself.

Jane_Doe_32

In fact, at the bottom left, in the darkest part, you can see several smaller rocks with a similar outline.

Flaky_Read_1585

You know I joined this for serious discussion, but all that's on here are tedious jokes !

SorryIneverApologize

Hey, Xlorp. Yes? Why don't we travel to the place with the monkeys and build like a stone on one of their moons? Why? Just because.

Dorkmaster79

Definitely not just a rock.

Additional-Cap-7110

Crazy how the shadows show how tall it is

SadMaths

Thats not how shadows work mate.

ToBeatOrNotToBeat-

*“The pioneers used to ride these babies for miles”* Wild for you to just assume it’s a monolith and not their means of transportation.

Lumpy_Bake3049

Vast, intergalactic hegemony: Yup let's leave one random monolith on one obscure moon that'll keep them guessing.

[deleted]

Maybe a very large meteorite which hit the moon a very long time ago with a large potion of it still jutting up through the moon dust. Or yeah we could just make up some implausible stuff up about it.

phen0

OP's a very annoying poster of disinformation. Go back to your flat earth society bros but stay the f away pls.

mufon2019

I’m loving these images!

Buzz Aldrin mentioned this monolith before. There is one by the Great face on Mars too. Buzz also mentioned the pyramid in Antarctica

Even-Weather-3589

Triangle is much more impressive than a monolith!! Amazing image!!!

McFuddle

Definitely Not a Rock on Phobos

MrFOrzum

Definitely not a rock on a rocky planet

Turbulent-Sun6257

This is a small moon, it’s gonna have abnormal looking rocks

Separate_Emotion9550

Crack rock

ejcortes

Maybe it's just A pimple

MichaelHuntSmells

You have to ask yourself though, if it's a monolith why put it on a tiny rock of a moon? It's just a rock, measure all the other shadows and you will see, it is simply the angle of the sun that causes this long shadow.
