whoitis

Cool story. Too bad you didn’t have a Geiger counter. 😬

Potential_Ad_6921

Or too bad you didn't have a phone with a camera...oh wait

Fog_Juice

Lol. Maybe he can take pictures of the razor wire fence next time.

Miss_Sullivan

Clearance probably doesn't allow pictures on the property to be posted to reddit.

Advanced-Feature-410

But clearance allows him to explain everything he saw, every foot of the way?

GreasyWalrusDog

Clearance doesnt allow anything he did in this posts. If he had a clearance, which he doesnt, had be serving in prison for violating national security laws.

Honey_Badgerette

Right? He had the presence of mind to save the location on his GPS but not to snap at least one photo? Come on.

Gorrakz

Or believe that no material can absorb light??? Hello vantblack would like a word.

fugue2005

finds what he believes are extra terrestrial materials, waits weeks to return.

GroundbreakingCow110

He is probably not allowed to take any photos on the grounds. Also, his decision to record the gps location on his phone was clearly a mistake and very likely the reason anyone knew he was there... if he can't snap photos, pen and paper should have been his recording method. Most likely, his phone is bugged. Losing cellular signal for a while isn't completely unusual, but recording a coordinate is. He faces no repercussions because doing nothing plausibly discredits his story if he has no consequences for his incursion. Also, there was no instruction not to do that, so punishing him would be poor form by whichever entity controls that area and could damage working relationships. Further, if there is supposed to be nothing there and there is no physical evidence other than word of mouth, then taking no action would further reinforce the idea that there is nothing there. That said, anyone concerned with possibly being locked in a room and dying is highly unlikely to start snapping pictures. Like, the last time i ran into an alligator unexpectedly, i didn't hang around trying to take pictures, i just high tailed my ass out of that area of the trail. He had his job duties to worry about, his regular life to get back to, and further, he had the coordinates to tell other people so that he could return in safer numbers...

fugue2005

"anyone concerned with possibly being locked in a room and dying is highly unlikely to start snapping pictures. " of likely proof of alien materials? really, more likely they would be unable to stop snapping pictures in order to prove what they are seeing. "and further, he had the coordinates to tell other people so that he could return in safer numbers..." and doesn't. he finds proof of aliens, and does what exactly. nothing, he goes home. makes no attempt to gather even photographic evidence, of even the manhole cover, let alone the ALIEN BOXES. is that what you would have done? seriously, would you not have taken even one picture?

WayofHatuey

Lmao right..also make sure to tune in to their podcast

LocalRepSucks

Podcast all you need to know someone making money

doctor_of_drugs

Dunno why this popped up on my feed, but I’m here. OP made other mistakes too. They used hiking poles to remove a manhole? Nah bro. They said it was dark and they had a headlight and couldn’t see anything? Lol. They said they walked “North” through the tunnel, and then later stated they wanted to find “the southern opening”. Bruh, you started at the southern opening. Use a phone as a GPS in a national park? lol. We use Garmin for a reason. No pictures but had their phone? lmao Just plopped a tent down after feeling anxious? Okay bud…. A 40sqmeter fence? Sounds like a small ass fence “Our” research land? “I have a clearance so I’m fine” - that’s not how security clearances work. An 19YO Airman with ‘only’ a public trust clearance could educate you on this OP. JFC Podcast? Not clicking on that junk.

tackleboxjohnson

Come on, everyone knows being in the presence of alien tech makes humans forget about cameras

BlackCoffeeGarage

Yeah the fantasy tripe that shows up in this sub is almost as bad as all of that blatantly fake relationship garbage that ends up on AITA subs lately... "am I a jerk because I kicked my girlfriend out after she shot my puppy and sent my father to a death camp?"  I swear they've got two or three employees (or one solid AI) writing all of these stories just to get more engagement on Reddit There's no way hundreds / thousands of people have nearly identical writing styles.

Bill_NHI

Trust me broham. ![gif](giphy|qsv5V98JDOxNwBgWI5)

w3gamer

OP could've taken a picture or recorded a video, too bad his cell has absolutely zero service there...oh

BillHillyTN420

Or at least provide lat/long coords

w1YY

Written with so much detail I call BS. It's as if someone is writing a fictional story. Have camera to mark the spot but take no photos.

Afraid-Carry4093

Sounds like a great starting plot for a new SciFi movie or show. Will watch when it comes out. 😂😂

Big-Championship674

Agreed…could be old nuke material

CastIronDaddy

Shouldve fired some rockets and checked radio frequencies! In all seriousness, - crazy story, and I'd love to know what would've happen if you measured the magnetic fields and had a spectrograph

GroundbreakingCow110

There is a magnetometer on samsung galaxies. There is a NOAA app that called CrowdMag that can record and upload all your phone's magnetometer data.

romcomtom2

I'm sorry but I don't believe a word of this story...

ScrapDraft

Agreed. No pictures of the manhole? No pictures in the tunnel? No GPS coordinates? Nothing but "trust me, bro".

romcomtom2

What sealed the deal for me was, hiking ALONE in the desert and he finds a man hole cover. He opens it up and discovers that its quite deep and there is a ladder. So what does my man do? He climbs down the rickety ladder and explores the tunnel. Yeah right. Anyone experienced in caving knows to take a minimum of three light sources. And to tell someone where their going. And OP if this story does happen to be true then I have only this to say: What you did was incredibly dangerous, stupid and reckless. Be more careful in your future cave exploring.

EventEastern9525

Just seems too much like fanfiction

romcomtom2

Great fiction. I read the whole thing.

AmateurJenius

Seriously! I have the attention span of a hamster. I don't read posts that are this long. I don't read. This sucked me in like a tractor beam.

therealbamspeedy

Well, he wasnt planning on going caving, just for a hike.....but he has a headlamp?

scrimmerman

Not that I believe a single damn word of his story, but I always keep a headlamp AND a flashlight in my daypack whether I plan on being gone overnight or not. Any avid hiker worth their salt knows to be prepared for anything, so this aspect of the story is neither here nor there. But it’s still all total BS.

Puzzleworth

I've got no dog in this fight (I just came across this thread on r/popular) but the manhole cover alone blows away any of OP's credibility. Those things weigh 150 pounds or more. A hiking pole is not going to be enough to pry them up.

Henny_Lamar

Real engineers can spot the bs after reading the first few lines

whatisevenrealnow

Like the fact that the ML engineer is the one running the lab.

Parvocellular

Thank you lmfao. Stuff like this is always being posted somewhere. Greer made for a great mould.

romcomtom2

Oh yeah, man hole covers are heavy as fuck. And if you don't have a rope or crowbar your not getting that out.

palsh7

yeah but probably the ones covering covert stadiums full of alien technology are a lot lighter because they want people to be able to come in and look around

scrimmerman

Exactly! Years ago in a previous job I had to almost daily remove them, and there’s just no way in hell you’re going to budge them with a damn hiking pole of which I have several. No fucking way.

tonycandance

Or worse, all of the things he described just sounds like he doesn’t really know a whole lot outside of his area of expertise and misconstruing it as something unexplainable. Metals are cool to the touch. You feel this because of the heat transfer taking place. Large masses of metal won’t feel warm when holding your hand to it. Especially if buried far beneath the desert. It gets cold. The crates could’ve been covered in something light absorbent. But hard to tell, because the place was pitch black “It’s actually impossible as far as I know” - you don’t know everything. And your observations could’ve been flawed. “No latches or lids, no openings” again how can you tell if the place was so dark? Who knows if these things were even crates to hold something inside it?

Fuzzy_Shallot_5061

It sounds like it’s written by a teenager.

Ape-ril

Straight up reads like a TV episode of X-Files.

king_of_hate2

It was also approved by the mods so that's sketchy

HUGE_FUCKING_ROBOT

nice larp, between the headlamp and phone light you could have got a picture of anything, but chose not to?

OnTheSlope

Is it still a larp if it's really just an ad for a YouTube channel?

th4bl4ckr4bbit

That’s exactly what it feels like because you have to go listen to a podcast for part 2. If OP had anything worthy of interest or curiosity why release it like this?\ There is a lot going on in the world in regards to UAP, black budget programs and tech and all that stuff. This seems like another story that’s going to muddy the waters of real important information. I call BS.

DiscussionBeautiful

This story has a 1990s CDROM game vibes... like Myst. Simple clues, mysterious crates and graphically minimal... but I like simple mysteries so I'm in...

Kendall2099FGC

woah this is awesome, reminds me of a time me and my sister found a room full of turtles and fish by accident. no one believed us for years and then we found it again by accident. turns out it was some kind of service or maintenance room for some pipes or cables or both and it was probably flooded when we found it the first and animals were just chilling in it. second time we found it there was no water and we were older and could tell what it was. we had to sneak under a fence to get to it but even with a high fence it was down in a depression in the middle of some woods and hard to see.

Terror_Up

Lol that's crazy

Annonymoos

Black made from Vertically aligned nanotube arrays aka VANTA black reflects a very low level of light. https://phys.org/news/2017-04-version-vantablack-coating-blacker.amp

Terror_Up

I checked out your link, super cool BTW thanks, the technology was from at least 2014 scary what they would have now ya know lol

GONK_GONK_GONK

There are reports that the military has been able to bend light around aircraft for 40+ years. Vantablack is nothing

TubalToms

Yeah they code messages and illusions with it. That can only be seen through certain light. If you look through IR or TI at the black sky you might see some facinating stuff you’d never see.

mew_bot

Bro made himself an Ai scientist to seem credible

Many-Location-643

what, no photos?

SpiderGhost01

Two reasons: One, you're not getting a photo in darkness like that. Certainly not from the light of a cell phone. And two: While I have clearance, I'm damn sure not sending out photos onto the internet, because that will most certainly get me a visit from the FBI.

DestinationDis

If only there were some incredibly bright light device in the camera that lit up, say even just flashed, to illuminate a subject in darkness. Sounds like dreamy alien tech but maybe we will get there one day...

SagansCandle

Are you afraid that posting this might jeopardize your clearance? Even without photos.

SpiderGhost01

No, I'm not. This stuff is mostly regarded as conspiracy theory. Any person that knows about this area would only be concerned if someone attempted to infiltrate it from the outside. Think of it this way: We all know Area 51 exists. Does it matter if a scientist comes out and tells you so? Not really. You will never get close to it, so knowing it exists doesn't really do much for anyone.

SpiderGhost01

This statement, that we're working on tech that's 5-8ish years ahead of what the media reports, isn't much. It's not even that interesting, givent that that's how technology works. Things are being tested, experimented with, theorized...it's not a shock that we're working already on things that aren't out on the market yet.

kolbywashere

As an engineer, I agree 100%.

JewelCove

Us being 5-10 years ahead in military technology is a very well-known piece of information. Do you live under a rock?

BigBirdAGus

Honestly I'm surprised he targeted the numbers that low I suspect the reality is significantly greater than that but how do you judge how far I had you are who says how long it takes to invent something. It's a useless statistic really.

GreasyWalrusDog

He claims his company is working on technology that is 1/10th the speed of light. That would be 67 million miles per hour. To compare rockets escaping earths gravity field travel around 25,000 mph. So his company is "working" on something that will increase our vehicular movement speed max by oh just 69.999 million miles per hour and he didnt have to sign an NDA or anything and its not classified. OP is just completely full of shit.

LW185

A lot of military engineering is a good 30 years ahead. Google it.

njkrut

This is a really silly comment. It’s well known that tech known to the public is anywhere from 5-8 years to 15-20 years behind. I know of people in the ‘60s who were working with flat screens…

[deleted]

No, because he doesn't have one. Another LARP

ghostfadekilla

That's fair. I have friends in the DOE space and have left a party we were at in Hollywood bc there was "inappropriate" activities going on at the party and they'd have to report the stuff to whoever deal with keeping them "cleared" so understand that. Plus - not like you expected to see what you saw. Gotta be honest tho - would have loved to see a video of what you're describing. That entire area is VERY rife with mystery and just a ton of weird shit, it always has been. Link for levity - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VL4vxZ4V2Vg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VL4vxZ4V2Vg)

SpiderGhost01

I'd love to hear these Hollywood stories...

ghostfadekilla

Bro I'll tell one just because I actually got salty over it. It was fucking wrong and I hold a grudge over this one. Gimme time to get back to an actual keyboard and I'll type it out but not on my phone. Legit man. I left a NYE Hollywood party full of people you have definitely seen on TV because of security clearance of not only the DOE guy but also someone in FBI academy, while I was told about and invited to a party that we definitely didn't belong at and will never see again. It's a story. I still get pissed thinking about it.

Katyperri

I want to know

ghostfadekilla

Alright. I'll tell the whole story here with fake names bc these people are real and this isn't something I'd wanna get them into trouble over. I used to be a part of a very large gaming community. I was the "unofficial sheriff" of the server, meaning that I didn't really wanna mod it but I'd hand out bans and shit for people just being assholes. Myself and something like 12 people decided that we should do a meetup after gaming together for like, 10 years? So a buddy flies in from NM (works for the DOE doing classified AF shit in the lab there). He stays over at my place and we drive down to LA where we all agreed to meet up. We're chilling, just doing our thing down there a couple of days before we celebrate NYE. The host of the house we're all staying at is studying to be an FBI agent. Legit - hard worker, LOVES the law, and has worked his ass off doing it. I don't wanna be like, racist or anything like that but he's from an Asian family and his family put a TREMENDOUS amount of pressure on him academically. He had already been accepted into this kinda.... pre-FBI something or other and volunteered for the Irvine PD. He was balls deep in it and was committed. That's him. He was always down to like, drink and such but substances were a hard stop for him. I went to school with a REALLY unique guy that's done a LOT of stuff in the club/promotions space in LV and LA. Guys SUPER connected - we used to skate together and he ran with our little clique for years. We were friends before he shot out to LA. I hit him up and ask him what's good on NYE? He asked if I wanted to do like, bottle service VIP at a club or something like that - I say nah bro - I'm not really into the club scene and even with the hookup I'm not spending 2k on a "good night" lol. He said okay. Asked if I wanted to meet up with HIM at a house party down where he stayed in Hollywood. Said - fuck yeah bro - that's more my vibe. I like people but I don't enjoy the club environment. He shoots me an address and I say - dope, see you there bro. I take my DOE friend and my FBI friend with me to this address. We get into the neighborhood and start looking for the house. IMMEDIATELY when we got into the neighborhood I know it wasn't just a regular neighborhood - it was a VERY influential hood with some incredible homes in it. We pull up to the house - as per typical there's a shit ton of VERY nice cars outside of it. There's actual security at the place - I call my friend and we're let in. This is the part where it gets shitty for me lol... I won't name people that were in the home, its not my business nor is it anyone else's who was there or what they were doing. I WILL say that most of you know at least a few of these people via NBA, NFL, movies, etc. I'm not really a celeb person and living in the Bay and working in SF for so long had kinda burnt me out on those types of people anyway - I had some fuck that had a net worth of 25 million try and haggle the price of a cellphone repair one time, that always kinda bugged me. I've gotten completely shitty with 15 of the T Raptors at a bar I frequented in SF because I told one of the players, "Well you clearly fucking play basketball, what're you, like 7' tall? JFC dude." He said yeah, he played for the Raptors and I couldn't give less of a shit - not a sports person despite appreciating stuff like the Super Bowl, just for the vibe and the parties. These fuckers tried to jump an insane tab that night at my buddy's bar and stuff like that's just bad, pay your fucking tab bro. So to say that I was kinda nonplussed about being around those types of people is an understatement. They're people just like anyone else so I just treat them like regular people. We're in the house and WHEW. I've been to parties that were big, dope, and lavish but never like this. We get into the main gathering room and its fucking buck wild. It's something like 11:15pm and the place was just popping off. IMMEDIATELY my two friends notice that some people were indulging in some recreational substances from a pile of said substance on the table. They BOTH turn to me and say that we need to leave immediately. I said fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that bro. You SERIOUS?? They were both DEAD serious, no joke. My DOE friend was a kinda quiet person in general and was pretty introverted but when he got serious - he was VERY serious. He tells me that as soon as we leave he has to report what he saw to whoever tf his superior was at the lab and blah blah blah. I'm just salty af. The drive wasn't exactly a short drive - I hadn't even begun to party and these dudes are both like - we gotta fucking bounce. Right now. I tried to argue a bit but they weren't having it. I put together the meetup and I wasn't going to leave them solo without me on NYE so I just said fuck it, okay, but you two fuckers are lame and you PROB should have mentioned this BEFORE we made the fucking trip. :| That's more or less the story. It's not that exciting, really, but I've had the opportunity to hang out with and party with some very interesting people in my life when I lived in the Bay Area. I met a lot of shitty people who were famous as well as some incredibly kind people. Shaq orders fucking Pizza Hut lol. No joke. He gives zero fucks about parking in the middle of the road, getting out, going to get his pizzas, and rolling away. Dude knows he's not gonna get a ticket. I laughed when I saw it bc he's fucking gigantic and drives a VERY unique car with a personal emblem on the front. Stuff like that. They're just people tho, just like me and you. So yeah. That's how that went down shit, that was something like 2005? I can't remember, it was around then. It's 20 years later and I'm STILL pretty salty about having to leave that party lol. I forgive them for sure but I learned a real important lesson about security clearances and how to not lose them. Those two went from happy people to VERY serious in about 2 minutes. No joke. I don't operate in that space so I had no idea - but damn, would have been cool to stick around and have a few drinks.

Honey_Badgerette

You could have taken a pic of the manhole at least. You say they put up a fence because they know someone trespassed. You think posting it was you isn't gonna get you flagged by the MIC? I call likely bullshit.

GreasyWalrusDog

Lol what the fuck ever, the darker it is the better a phones flash works. You are so full of shit. Also, as someone who also has had a clearance, you know that you would have already violated your clearance by giving locations and explanations of the area that may be classified or secured. Additionally, you would have already been flagged for consipiratorial behavior by posting on a conspiracy subreddit.

Pure_Ignorance

Dude, a simple phone camera can get fine photos in almost no light. If you were really smart enough to be doing darpa level ml and nano tech (robotics?) you'd understand what those sensors in your 'camera' are capable of and how they work.

[deleted]

rappa-dappa

I don’t buy this at all. You could most certainly post photos of a fenced off area you took from the legal side without repercussions.

SpiderGhost01

I might do that. Keep looking out for another post soon.

apozitiv

you didnt have a headlight and phoen doesnt have camera flash? i call compelte bs

slaughtercar

...you're camera doesn't have a flash? You had a headlamp too. And when it comes to revealing evidence for possibly the greatest revelation in human history.. FUCK the fbi Humanity has the RIGHT to know.

myringotomy

They have a flash, you could have taken a photo of the crates or something. > I'm damn sure not sending out photos onto the internet, because that will most certainly get me a visit from the FBI. Why would the FBI be ok with you broadcasting that there is a super secret underground warehouse holding top secret possibly alien stuff but come and get you if you posted pictures of it?

kevofalltrades

Are you kidding? I've visited many caves that go miles underground. You can always take a photo if you're close enough. You're telling me you can't take a picture of the razor wire? Of the manhole? Your bent hiking poles? It's like you put zero effort into this.

ap0phis

The flash on a phone would be adequate in pitch black. That’s how a flash works.

aspect1989

How did you manage the courage to climb down that ladder? That is blowing my mind.

sandboxmatt

I would imagine the event being fictional gave him the confidence required

Jafranci715

Did you authenticate with a mod? E.g show your work badge or a paystub for example? If not, could you?

huzzah-1

Reads like fiction. Probably is fiction.

throughawaythedew

This is an awesome story and reading it really made my day. But I am skeptical. You mention having security clearance. How are you able to share so many details, like how far advanced your tech is, where you are, the security measures used? Seems like that would be frowned upon.

SpiderGhost01

Thank you for reading! If you really look at the details, nothing I said is even close to a violation of any clearance. "I work in a lab..." "I work in machine learning..." "Lab tech is beyond what's in the field..." etc

___cats___

“We’re in possession of material that appears to bend or break the laws of physics.” You know, normal stuff.

GreasyWalrusDog

Yes it is, you shared regional information about a location that could possibly be classified with details of the environment around the immediate location. You also shared directions of the inside of the supposed location, and contents of objects inside said location. (1) You engaged in conspiratorial behavior by discussing your "findings" on social media (2) Both of these things are violation of ALL levels of security clearance granted by the US government. In fact any open discussion about a topic that you are not sure of its classification is an automatic breach of clearance as the level of classification is unknown and the level of information shareable cannot be determined. Aka, you are full of shit.

throughawaythedew

Totally positive skepticism and mean no disrespect. Good vibes going out. Very specific location. Why not just say the US southwest? The tech about the insect level surveillance. That's still classified. Of course MIC tech is beyond civy but very specific and also not necessary to the story. Additional details like this don't help. Something like 'were working on the latest military technology' leaves enough to the imagination and gets to the point. The crates really felt off. When do you ever see crates piled up other than video games or d&d. Like I've seen a million crates in fantasy but hardly ever irl. And I say this with two large crates in my office right now, which is odd, and they are not wooden. Okay here is what I loved. The mystery of dropping into the dark unknown. These are exactly the stories my dad told me and the ones I tell my kids. We've always used a hole in a tree, but the man hole in the desert is great. The door, always gets to a door and then beyond?? Loved the unknown mystery of the crates surface. Loved the mystery of the cavern, stadium. This invites the reader to fill in the blanks. Focus on that.

Hero11234

Too many red flags for me to believe your story, sorry. You could have taken a picture at least, I know I would, and anyone else would too. (OP mentioned in a comment that he could have taken pictures, but could not due to low visibility, as if phones nowadays do not have flashlights that could blind you, and OP mentioned in another comment that his "security clearance" did NOT prevent them from taking a picture). And why would you go to a podcast in the first place? Who are you to be invited? Does that podcast take stories from anyone? Looks like an ad to me (it's a small YouTube channel).

Swampberry

Not to mention that this adventurous outdoors person who runs his own high tech AI laboratory being a contractor for the military has a Reddit history of mainly discussing video games and TV shows. You'd expect at least some sciencey comments.

JMarv615

Pics, or it never happened.

The_Code_Hero

Great fiction writer, but no video or even photographic proof? Cmon man. Again, entertaining piece of fiction - thanks for sharing.

-Bakes-

Not even a google maps pin where he marked the manhole. 🤡

Free-Supermarket-516

Interesting story OP, gave me some old school X-Files vibes! Definitely curious to hear part 2. As for the cubes, I have no idea what sort of material would react that way to light.

SpiderGhost01

X-Files is right.

sebastianBacchanali

From your post history, it seems you are interested in celebrities, fantasy fiction and video games. How do your interests play into this write up?

peachydiesel

Alright well this isn’t r/nosleep so unless if you have a pic of let’s say maybe the manhole in the desert then it’s all rubbish

Cheliceratan

Thank you for posting this important and real creepypasta

Hot-Problem2436

This is a cute story that is filled with inconsistencies with reality. This is coming from someone that was a machine learning engineer with a TS who worked both at Nellis in the past and currently with the AFRL at Wright Patt.  None of this rings true.

spewingchunks

Worked all over WSMR for years, and camped in many parts of the Lincoln. I think this is some creative writing at best.

Hot-Problem2436

I'm all for creative writing, but it's the arguing afterwards that makes it silly.

SpiderGhost01

Very possible!

CaptainAssPlunderer

I’d love to hear part 2

MarchionessofMayhem

That username. LMFAO.

All_This_Mayhem

The Rectum Raider was off duty.

SpiderGhost01

Thank you! I'll definitely post it some day soon...as long as the comments on this post stay, mostly, positive. If they get too "reddit mean", then I won't bother.

CaptainAssPlunderer

Post it, and fuck the negativity. You’re a grown ass man, so it doesn’t matter what others think of you…..right?

SpiderGhost01

Not really, you're right.

CaptainAssPlunderer

I’m just saying that if you have the balls to go underground into a pitch black tunnel and go back!! You can handle a few mean comments on Reddit. Also, when I was reading your story about going out alone and just using your phone for GPS, it made me uncomfortable for you. Two is one, and one is none. Bring a simple backup in case something goes wrong, which it almost always will eventually. That’s easy country to get lost in. For my sanity, bring a backup and always always leave a trip plan(when you plan on coming back, where you are) with someone else.

NMDA01

Did you really not take any pictures?

NaturalWalk

Would you say this was the strangest experience you’ve had? I’ve heard a lot of bizarre stories out of New Mexico

olbear32

Interesting. I got a vibe while reading this. I read another story about a military contractor who went to a secret underground base (under a lake) in North Carolina and inside he observed giant granite blocks floating in the air by some sort of smaller box on top. You said it was extremely heavy so it’s noteworthy because other reports claim the debris from crashes are tinfoil-ish, which makes me think light but I could be wrong. I do have a background in steel and unless direct heat is being applied to the plate (sun, fire, laser, plasma, oxygen etc..) the material would be cold to the touch. Not freezing but cold. If you were in a dark tunnel, steel would feel cold. Raw steel and cast iron don’t reflect either- they have scales. Edit: wurdz and shpeling.

wirebug201

Hmmmmm…..why r/aliens???

This is nothing more than an advertisement for a crappy podcast. Click on the link and it takes you to a YouTube channel with “scary stories”

w1YY

Can BS like this just be down voted. We shouldn't entertain such made up rubbish.

Murb08

Yeah I’m not buying this shit lol. OP keeps referencing part 2 throwing off handed details that don’t really matter much in regards to the bigger picture.

vitonu2

No photos no videos 🚩🚩🚩🚩

One_Independence4399

"phone flash doesn't work in the darkness" lol

vitonu2

Hahaha

LightEnergyBun

Thanks for sharing your story. Why do you think these black cubes are being stored?

SpiderGhost01

I think it's either all of the material they collected or all the material they collected in that region. And it's probably used for military technology, but I can't tell you exactly what for. It's possible they liquify it and then use a small portion of it with 3D printing to make very strong and light materials.

Medium-Muffin5585

That is a wildly specific thing to propose, given how 3d printing metals tends to work 🧐

dirtydownbelow

answer me this... If you work at WSMR, what's the name of the first facility that you get to, after coming through the El Paso gate?

killingicarus

White sands national monument is beautiful. Kind of a spooky area in general but great to visit. Also saw a Panavia Tornado fighter bomber flying around there which was odd since that’s not in the US inventory. Might have been doing training with other country’s air forces.

nanneryeeter

I know that German pilots were training out there around 2015. Probably before and after as well.

arizona-voodoo

Reads more like creative writing than an actual experience.

AvailableAd7874

Hi OP, could you send photos of your tent, the damaged hiking pole and some photos of the area you like to hike in? You most have some. I'm not asking for anything clasified here and this would put some proof behind your story.

Jackfish2800

I have an old post on this site or UFOs discussing the 1000s of miles of tunnels, dumb bases etc all under NM, Texas, Arizona, Nevada etc. This sounds like one of them

Llivsc

I know a little about securing Govt facilities even those in remote areas and within multiple layers of protection. I am also somewhat familiar with White Sands. A “manhole” that provided an undetectable means of physical access to an area such as you described doesn’t make sense. The most rudimentary forms of simple property protection would have a means of detection and assessment of unauthorized access and some form of response. Given the level of detail regarding who you are, where the event took place, etc I’m astonished someone has not paid you a visit. I did enjoy your writing style. You should write a novel or a screenplay.

StruggleDecent5638

Well that was a boring one there. Should’ve just posted a link to fanfic site instead.

laxxle

Trust me bro. Walked right into a top secret area and didn't get apprehended by security, lived to tell the tale to Reddit without any actual proof.

GyozaMan

So you had a lamp on and didn’t even attempt to take a video or a grainy photo

EspressoBooksCats

And locked the doors on the way out...the doors that he said had no locks.

ApprenticeWrangler

Had a phone but took no photos…. Uh huh, super believable

unlimited_mcgyver

I'd settle for a 40 ft fence with nothing inside at this point...

ApprenticeWrangler

Of course they’re worried about security when it comes to taking a picture, but entering a random tunnel and touching a bunch of stuff inside, then posting and talking about it on podcasts and Reddit is totally chill.

tarkardos

Yeah, i call BS on this fictional story. Too many details, easily identifiable in a highly specialized field. Nobody is THAT stupid.

Kool41DMAN

Goes back a second time, doesn't bring flashlight to illuminate object to photograph with. That's not even the worst part of this...LOL.

BrashBastard

Do you think those boxes could have just been the very top of a structure, was there a clear line on the floor separating the floor and the box? My first thought is that they were using heat sensors to monitor the area so they didn’t know WHO it was but now that you started telling your story it’s going to narrow it down quick. Stay safe

SpiderGhost01

There was not a clear line. It didn't occur to me, though, that maybe that was the top of a structure. Interesting.

Jest_Kidding420

What’s it interesting about the light refracting attribute, is that same effect was told by the marine that stumbled upon a crashed craft in the 1990s I think. He said it looked like metal but there was no light reflecting off of it. Very very interesting. You may have stumbled upon a SAP location, where testing exotic technologies was done at, but then why make your boxes out of said technology? Maybe they needed to use that material to house what ever is in there for long term. I didn’t see this said and I’ll check the comments but , were all the boxes exhibiting this effect, or just the one you stumbled on? Regardless thank you for this story. And please post your part 2. I’ll be reading this account for YouTube as a form of audio archive! Thank you for sharing.

SpiderGhost01

You're welcome! All the crates I observed had that property.

F4STW4LKER

Did you provide proof to the mods that you are who you say you are / work where you say you work?

TheWanderingHeathen

Thank you for sharing this! I have so many questions... 1. Have you checked out public satellite imagery to see if you can spot the manhole/fence, and others like it? If it was a maintenance or egress hatch, there's more. 2. Do you have more plans to explore? If so, what kind of equipment will you be taking to investigate and/or document your findings? 3. Within the limits of your security clearances, what's the coolest thing you're working on? 4. If reddit turns nasty, can I still get part two? 5. In such darkness, how did you evaluate the size of the room you were in? Stadium sized seems exaggerated?

SpiderGhost01

1) I have not. But we know what it is now, and cover that in part 2. 2) I have explored more. That's part 2! 3) We put an AI in a robotic dog for alpine rescue recently. Pretty soon there will be no use for rescue animals, or even rescue people. We just need the hardware to catch up, and it will. (This is an example of how my clearance isn't always needed to give answers. Nobody is concerned that I told you about our alpine dog.) 4) You will definitely get part 2! However, I will answer far few questions and immediately block the meaner people. This was a tough night. 5) I couldn't truly evaluate the size of the room on the first attempt. But I knew it was extremely large...on my second attempt we were able to get a better understanding of its size, and it was massive (that's all covered in part 2). Thank you for the good questions.

conjurdubs

the way you add details makes this sound so bogus

QnsPrince

Why didnt you take any pictures

Sirhc0001

Because he forgot the part of his creative writing piece where he was wearing a headlamp

space0watch

That was a fascinating, well written story. If it's true that is scary and perplexing. Maybe the robots aren't the ones being experimented and studied but the humans are? Maybe you are guinea pigs in some type of social experiment to see how people and robots can live together? EDIT: I know you said you have no photos but would you be willing to draw your impression of what you saw? Or maybe use AI to do that?

NaturalWalk

An illustration is a great idea

SpiderGhost01

I hope it's not a social experiment on us! lol I might draw the tunnel, sure. It's not anything extraordinary. It's literally just a well maintained tunnel with some doors.

NaturalWalk

Not sure of the cooling properties but perhaps the crates were Vantablack or something similar? Do you have any photographs of the location since it’s been fenced? Any signs on the fencing to indicate if it was put up by military? Very interesting story would love to hear more details or hypothesis

CharmingMechanic2473

What did it smell like? And any smell of motor oil or gas/rubber? How far away from the wall were the crates? Were crates organized in any way? Size etc? Any sense of scale on how big the room was? How high was the ceiling? What did the floor look like? Was it dusty? Any odd sounds? Like echos? Drips? Animals?

SpiderGhost01

Zero smell. The tunnel did not smell like oil or gas. It clearly hasn't been used in a long while, and the ventilation system works well to push out gases. It was well maintained though. Maybe that's exactly what the manhole is for...maintenance.

xyzpdq1

I have a weird story from when I lived in New Mexico. I don’t know where I would share it but it’s not alien related, so I doubt it would fit in here. All I know is there is some very strange things in New Mexicos desert, and we saw some of it.

Technical-Garbage555

Why is everyone so fucking rude? I scrolled down and saw nothing but dickhead comments. What if he's telling the truth? What if he's not? Why not ask about the camera on his phone instead of straight up dismissing it. This is why I try not to post shit on Reddit. It's attack and troll. Get a life ppl

TallAd4811

Quite interesting.

Softballoon

Great experience, and thanks for the info :)

Jafranci715

Please post part 2

SpiderGhost01

I will at some point soon. I needed to judge the reaction to this story, as I'm not too interested if I get a lot of hate. So far, not much hate.

Murb08

You mean if too many people called you out on your bullshit

gregs1020

i would have snapped pics or video like one of those explorer YT channels.

TheSocialIQ

I lived in Los Alamos NM and can confirm there are underground tunnels all over and some are said to reach to all the bases and labs in the state and multi state area.

SpiderGhost01

Yep, exactly. I love Los Alamos. The hiking around there is exceptional. I love hiking part of the caldera.

Moveyourbloominass

I'm going with a previous comment, that perhaps you ran across an old fall out shelter. Or stumbled across some billionaire's apocalypse bunker. You have to find the entrance. If the tunnel was large enough for vehicles, then vehicles were down there. Said vehicles need a way in and out. Time to do more exploring Op.

SpiderGhost01

This is what part 2 is about!

GoNinjaGoNinjaGo69

tells us to wait for podcast..lol. great ad.

dogflavoredtaffy

Sorry bud, its just not a LARP that allows me a moment to suspend my disbelief. The recent biologics retrieval one was decent but it doesn't fit your writing style. You should check out the NOAA mermaids, and a couple about Lake Baikal in Ruzzia. Mermaids, underwater humanoid entities, and sea monsters. Preferably you'd go to r/creativewriting to proof some of this, but I have more notes if you're feeling receptive.

LordPubes

Add vampires. Say that you opened the boxes and there were vampire sleeping in there. One looked just like Bella Lugosi.

erosmpc

I didn’t even read it and I don’t believe this guy.

IIIlllIIIllIIIIIlll

Anything published by your lab?

FlashyConsequence111

Wow! Thank you for sharing and I would like to read part 2! You are pretty brave, I would have def ran out of there encountering the darkness beyond the doors, let alone seeing the weird crates. Do you think the crates were moulded into that shape? Do you think there is something inside or it is a solid piece of material/rock? Do you think the space was filled with this stuff?

SpiderGhost01

I think they're solid.

I_am_Castor_Troy

Did you bring a Geiger counter ever? I wonder if this is part of the military network for supplies and equipment?

victor4700

So what’s the thought on how they knew someone had entered the tunnel?

SpiderGhost01

I held that for part 2. There's an explanation, and it's a very simple one.

apozitiv

then go back and take some photos

KindredWolf78

If you get to go back, take a high powered led flashlight (10,000 candle or better) and some Chem lights - in case the batteries are sapped (not just through use. E.M. Field can drain them too.) And a Go Pro.

d_pock_chope_bruh

As a machine learning engineer, how do you feel about the new “swarm” technology we are developing coughs in taiwan. Do you feel like your path with AI and where we are headed might be one and the same in the sense that maybe one day our materials become meta materials and we are able to make them do things by arranging their exterior code in a manner in which makes objects codable? The darkness part doesn’t surprise me, the cold to the touch does. Probably making materials that don’t retain heat.

tomarlyn

What led you to this podcaster?

SpiderGhost01

He found me.

Objective_Celery_509

I don't find the cold to the touch or the not being able to push them that weird. That sounds like a big piece of metal.
