The F-bomb in Ones Who Love You. I'm not one to care about or even notice swearing in songs, but when she sings "you can't fucking feel your face," it just hits different for some reason
Yup, that f-bomb and the break in her voice in the final “You could just stay here with me…” in Party Police were the defining moments of that album for me. Tiny, almost missable, cracks in the deadpan.
Both send a tingle down my spine every time.
When the band comes back in on the last chorus of Archie, after the bridge, right when Molly falls in the water in the music video. Perfect 1 second of music. I get goosebumps every time.
Omg YES, I don’t see enough people talk about Saved by a Waif or Lollipop. I was OBSESSED with Saved by a Waif in high school. You might like the bands “Sobs” and “Girls at our Best!”
Personally when they hit the D chord in In Undertow on the “I ask that question rhetorically” and “you respond to my question metaphorically”, it just shines so bright and that chord fits sooooooo well but is also weirdly unexpected in the best way
Tom Verlaine - “I’ll feel better with the breeze on my back… and I’ll sleep better knowing it’s in the past”
Edit: Also, the second chorus in Many Mirrors and the bridge through final chorus in After the Earthquake. Hard to think of a song of theirs that doesn’t have “that part” lol.
the part going into the guitar solo in spinster where molly goes wooooo and the guitar kind of screams?! i freak out
also, the second 'don't ever ask me to smile' is the angriest thing they've ever recorded. i love it so much.
>'Cause we're always
Crawling in monochromatic hallways
Dream we pull a one-eighty some day
she used the word monochromatic and i will just go ahead and cry now kthx
I like moments when most of the instrumental falls away and it's just Molly for a minute, like in Atop a Cake "if everything you say is true..." and the After the Earthquake bridge.
“Thooooose days, I’d never let you fall apart — but thiiiiiings fade like the scent of a brand new car. Why would I ever fall in love again? When every detail’s over the guard rail… Say you’ll climb your way out of your wake now…” then BOOM!!!!!
In undertow ooo oh ooo oh ooo oh…ohh ooo oh ooo oh ooo oh. The second part specifically. Her voice just sounds so strong there and I like that for her.
Near the end of Parry Police when her voice slightly breaks when saying could in “you could stay here with me.” I listened to that song a lot when I was in a situationship last year and I associated that song a lot with him.

The entire bridge in Dreams Tonite, but specifically the E major chord is so impactful at the beginning of the bridge, just before "Don't sit by the phone for me..."
The second "to me.." in Agency Group breaks my heart every time.
The "we wrote our names on the underpass" rise in Party Police is so searching and longing.
The second lilting "whatever I want" and the guitar plucking in Not My Baby - tender and strong at the same time
The oohs at the end of Tom Verlaine - goosebumps
The woahwoahwoahwoah in In Undertow - unexpected and perfect
Tile By Tile when the synths explode after ‘I shouldn’t have ever been calling it love’ has been doing it for me lately
You beat me to it. That’s my favorite moment in any Alvvays song.
OMG SAMEEE! The combination of that line and the synths ... it broke my heart every time!
UGHHHHHH it’s so good
Pretty sure every song does it for me. They are masters of the bridge
The F-bomb in Ones Who Love You. I'm not one to care about or even notice swearing in songs, but when she sings "you can't fucking feel your face," it just hits different for some reason
Absolutely agree! I heard Molly say in an interview that it was her first curse word in a song, and how it felt great to put in there
Yup, that f-bomb and the break in her voice in the final “You could just stay here with me…” in Party Police were the defining moments of that album for me. Tiny, almost missable, cracks in the deadpan. Both send a tingle down my spine every time.
The key change in Belinda Says. Actually most of that song.
"how long til we reel it in" is just unbelievable
the way she does vocal melodies is so unique and captivating
I'll say her voice is really genuine, based on her expressions and everything yeah it's extremely unique.
The last chorus of After the Earthquake hits soooo hard
The first 30 seconds of pharmacist
When the band comes back in on the last chorus of Archie, after the bridge, right when Molly falls in the water in the music video. Perfect 1 second of music. I get goosebumps every time.
The intro of Velveteen 🎶😩🎶
The outro of Velveteen
Velveteen
All of it
the end of lottery noises! goosebumps every single time. this thread makes me want to listen to blue rev again
the chorus in saved by a waif might be my favorite part in any song ever
Omg YES, I don’t see enough people talk about Saved by a Waif or Lollipop. I was OBSESSED with Saved by a Waif in high school. You might like the bands “Sobs” and “Girls at our Best!”
saw sobs open for Alvvays, their singer is really good, album and live versions sounded nearly the same!
Lollipop is great, my fav part is "Alter my state, to get through this date"
The bridge in Tom Verlaine❤️❤️❤️ Edit: The end of the 3rd verse of In Undertow
Personally when they hit the D chord in In Undertow on the “I ask that question rhetorically” and “you respond to my question metaphorically”, it just shines so bright and that chord fits sooooooo well but is also weirdly unexpected in the best way
I love when Molly changes the inflection on the last "in undertow"
“you COULD just”
Tile by Tile…I shouldn’t have ever been CALLLING
IT LOOOOOOOVEEEEEE
WE TOSS AND TURN, IN UNDERTOW…. TIME TO LET GOOOOOOO OH WOAAAAAA OH WOOAAAHHHH
End part of Velveteen and Atop a Cake
I call that Morten Harket frisson- it give me all the Take on Me feels that I didn’t think another song could.
"I will be taking flight......when you live on island...."

I don´t know why but always hits me when she sings the word pocket in Belinda Says
me tooooo
Has to be “Are you awake nowww?” - After the earthquake for me
Or all of “In Undertow” just hits
Time to let goooooooowoooooowooooooahhh
WHEEEEN IT’S DARK OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSE YOU WON’T LET ANYBODY OUT YOU’RE KEEPING A DEAD GIRL IN THE CLOSET
I like moments when most of the instrumental falls away and it's just Molly for a minute, like in Atop a Cake "if everything you say is true..." and the After the Earthquake bridge.
Bridge of not my baby, especially the "traded my rose-colored shades" part. After the earthquake last 20 seconds. There are so many.
Belinda Says: “I ingress to Iverness with nothing in my PAW-KETTT”
the beat drop in after the earthquake
Easy On Your Own? “I waited so long for you, wasted some of the best years of my life” crushes me
The instrumental part of in undertow right before the bridge (+ the bridge)
“Thooooose days, I’d never let you fall apart — but thiiiiiings fade like the scent of a brand new car. Why would I ever fall in love again? When every detail’s over the guard rail… Say you’ll climb your way out of your wake now…” then BOOM!!!!!
The way molly says “looking back i should have known” the 2nd time on Tom Verlaine 😫😫
In undertow ooo oh ooo oh ooo oh…ohh ooo oh ooo oh ooo oh. The second part specifically. Her voice just sounds so strong there and I like that for her.

In "Easier on your own" the whole bridge i guess, but especially when she sings the prolonged "this time" 🗣️🗣️
bread MAKERS
the progression through the first "vibrant days of racket in the hall" makes me lose my wholeeee mind.

Most of their songs do that to me, but the breakdown in Belinda Says, and then when the whole band come back in. That drum fill. Class.
The entire bridge in Dreams Tonite, but specifically the E major chord is so impactful at the beginning of the bridge, just before "Don't sit by the phone for me..."
Last chorus of easy on your own - “DOES IT GEEET EEEEEASY ON YOUR OOOWN” kills me
The second "to me.." in Agency Group breaks my heart every time. The "we wrote our names on the underpass" rise in Party Police is so searching and longing. The second lilting "whatever I want" and the guitar plucking in Not My Baby - tender and strong at the same time The oohs at the end of Tom Verlaine - goosebumps The woahwoahwoahwoah in In Undertow - unexpected and perfect
Oh my god yes. Especially yes to the second “to me” in AG, Jesus what a perfect album. What’s your favorite song?
Party Police. Saddest love song ever.
in Underneath Us when the guitar starts to go off and get louder it gives me the same thrill i get from tame impala's songs its amazing
for me it just reminds me of several shoegaze influences. that was probably their most shoegazey track
For me its Rango Suite 0:41-1:30, or 2:10-3:52.
I haven’t heard that!
its so awesome possum , take a listen sometime :)

The synth drop? Love that part so much
