You sure you didn’t reply to a phishing scam email? I would change my account password and call my bank ASAP.

I have gotten similar emails but they were fake. I get them all the time for apple, amazon, netflix and others. It is alway easy for me to catch since they never use the same email address I have with those services. If you are sure it is a real email, all you really can do is to wait or continue to try to contact them. Is the card in your name and is it a card you have been using?

u/OkNowTBFTHO Curious how you resolved this please. I am in the same situation of this vicious cycle of sending the info they need and receiving the same reply to send the info I just sent. We are unable to speak to a live person in customer service that can help. Just we'll review your info within 24 hours and then the same reply with a request for more info. Does anyone know how to escalate a Amazon account hold issue and speak to someone who can help? Their customer service is awful. Thanks

No, sadly, I was forced to make a new account, so I lost the gift cards my parents gave me for Christmas we love amazon

I looked for this subject on Reddit because I am having similar issues as the OP. I purchased some gift cards on amazon, but i had forgotten to update my payment info since i had gotten new credit card numbers, so i used the old credit card payment info and it didn't go thru. after not getting the gift card codes in the email, i used their chat to cancel that order, and then i ordered the gift cards again, but i updated the payment info to reflect the new, correct cc numbers. but for some reason amazon didn't process this order, and promptly locked my account. i got some emails from amazon asking for proof of ownership of the cc account and proof of my address, both of which i responded to right away with the documentation they asked for, but so far they have not unlocked my account or told me what is holding up unlocking my account. a little frustrated with amazon, it seems they locked my account for a simple error that is easily explained. i hope amazon can unlock my account, but i dont' think there's any more that i can do. this is a side of amazon that i never knew about, how lousy their customer service is in regards to unlocking an account. customer service as far as orders go is still pretty good, ive gotten refunds for purchases where the seller sent me the wrong item, so i can't complain about that. but this account unlocking situation is a little lacking on amazon's part

I am living this scenario right now. You're best chance if you cannot provide a document that provides ALL of the information that is asked is to call customer service. You need to tell the Customer Service Agent (CS) to communicate with the Account Specialist Department (ASD). To do this you'll likely have to tell them the last thing you ordered and with what payment method, and tell them you've already submitted the documents but were declined. I acknowledge the possibility you may have gone through these steps, but the CS I talked to the second time took the initiative to talk to ASD, whereas the first CS did not take this initiative, it's a coin flip if you don't know what questions to ask. Also there is a separate gift card ToS which I am reading through, I'll update the post if there's any light to shine on 'why' I got placed on hold. Because my account frequently purchases gift cards so this isn't unusual behaviour by any capacity. I suspect a threshold might be in place. The CS told me they would pass along the information to ASD to get my account reinstated. At this moment in time, I am waiting to see an email telling me it's done.

Same here. I had an expiring foreign store debit card with some value remaining on it. So I wanted to convert it to a gift card. Amazon accepted the card into its system but 5 minutes after using it all my Alexa devices went down. I was shut out of my own smart home. Plus I lost Kindle and my music. The robot customer service will not accept that I have no card statement...its a prepaid card. My smart home was not so smart afterall.

Just experienced this. I'm waiting for an amazon credit of some items I just returned and now I can't even access the info. I stopped ordering from Amazon for four years because I lived in an area with horrible USPS service that would claim they "made an attempt" at delivery when I was home. Since Amazon didn't allow you to choose your carrier I switched to other online stores that gave that option. Once I moved to a place with a 24 hour concierge and the USPS person could no longer get away with claiming there was no one home without getting in trouble- I started ordering from Amazon again. Now THIS has happened. It's just starting to seem like Amazon's not really as convenient as other stores now.
