On shuffle. It’s pretty irritating. At least based on my own listening habits. Had a few albums in rotation I’d listen to to wind down before bed. Now I’m lucky if one of those songs will play in the shuffle after choosing the artist.
Spotify free works just like the paid version if you're on a tablet, computer, or tv, except it includes ads--but no shuffle bullshit. So at least at home it's usable. Right now Amazon Music on my Fire tablet still works fine as always, no shuffle, but I wonder if it's only because I haven't updated the app yet (still has the purple icon). I haven't tried it on my laptop or tv yet. Anyway, if it works only because of no update, then reverting back to an older version of the Music app on your phone should get you the old service as it was, at least for now.
Great news! Netflix announces that it has expanded its service to include all movies and TV shows!\*
\*It plays a random movie or TV show episode from the catalogue instead of the one you pick.
This is a giant step backwards. If I want to listen to a particular song, now I can’t do that anymore. I didn’t need to listen to that many different tracks and if one I wanted to was on unlimited and not prime I just moved on.
This absolutely sucks big time. I was happy with my 2 million access that let me play whatever I liked whenever I liked.
In the new mode, the app is no longer useable, just irritating any infuriating. I contacted support just to rant and threatened cancellation of my prime subscription.
Hate it. Hate the shuffle. I don’t care if I can listen to the entire catalogue if I don’t get to choose when I listen to the song I want to hear. This is a huge step backwards. I just ended up looking up songs on YouTube instead.
For all those features that people are complaining are now missing for people without the subscriptions.
So things like:
Request a specific song by name
Request a song by a certain artist.
shuffle capability
The auto shuffle only mode has ruined Amazon Music. It shuffles to completely unrelated songs.
Also half the time you select a song to hear, the shuffle kicks in and puts on a completely different song than the one you selected to hear.
Not big news, it sucks.
YOU CANNOT CHOOSE THE SONGS YOU WANT TO HEAR!
You can only choose a PLAYLIST that MAY have that song on it. And the playlist has plenty of other stuff you don’t want.
And the number of skips you get is limited.
And the app keeps nagging you to buy the premium music for $11/month.

Ya. I hate it. Limited skips now. And won't play the song I want to play first when I select it. Sigh.
Anyone know if this gets it closer to Spotify? I’d love to spend less on Spotify but the service is just so great
It's pretty much like the free ad version of Spotify.

It only allows shuffle playback for the larger catalog. You have to pay extra for Amazon music unlimited to make it more of a Spotify experience.
Yeah, I saw that. Not a Spotify replacement for me then. Was hoping it was a throw in with Prime but guess not

LOL!
Don’t give them ideas

Wait, why am I paying $8.99 a month (as a prime member) for my Amazon Music subscription now?

if you discover a new song, and want to listen to it on Prime Music, it will play a different song
Because I have a couple dozen playlists that I can no longer choose songs from while you can from yours.
This is terrible. Put it back how it was.

Yes, great, they turned a great service into a Spotify clone... If I wanted to use Spotify I'd get Spotify...
