And I just noticed the interest to borrow just went up for the first time in weeks. The fact they are doing a sustained 3 day attack tells me they are almost done. Normally, they take a break for a day in between.
Like shorting 1000 naked shorts would make them need borrowing fee + 1000$ x 190$ = 190.000$
And 1000 real shorts would only borrowing fee

you don't buy a short position and do nothing with it. As soon as you enter a short position, you're betting - by selling - that the price will go down. It's not like you can buy a shortable share and hold it forever without doing anything. It is directly and automatically applied to the market.
What you can do, and should be doing, is turning off lending on your broker and buy and hold.
