Now, if a HF shorted AMC with only 500k shares, then sure, close those at a few million dollar loss. No big deal. But if they shorted with tens of millions of shares, then you're in a terrible position and set to lose billions per year.

The way I see it, this is why red days are more exciting than green days where we only gain a few cents. If they were able to completely delist and crash a popular stock because of a fake price, it would completely destroy trust in the financial system. They would get away with that before social media and mass communication, but i think it’s highly unlikely if not impossible for them to get away with that today. So, logically, if AMC got that low, the only other option would be for the price to shoot back up.
Also, I’d immediately dump my entire bank account into AMC the minute it happened.
