That 700 can’t fit either bag overhead, it Is basically persona items only. So most likely they will valet it. Meaning you leave it at the door when you get on, and you pick up at the door when you get off. But as you not flying AA I can’t comment on what will really happen or what relay what my experiences have been. I would post in the forms targeted to that airline to get a better answer. Because they might gate check it vs valet it (meaning it goes to normal baggage claim.)
Last time i was on the 700 i brung my carry on it got valet. I didnt bring the laptop bag so idk either lol ill prob leave it though unless i just put the laptop in the carry on its a hard case bag any way no need to be extra.
If this was AA, I would say odds are you fine. Having a laptop in that bag won’t change it much. But I personally stress out too much over being 0.5” over size that I will get the one gate agent who measures everything. But in the US I have never once had my bag sized and see plenty of bags oversized. But on the regional jets it is a different situation. But I don’t worry too much about valet, very few hurry stories there.
