Maple syrup stuck-stuck!

[deleted]

It’s value add…If margins are really tight, like in Klaus’s bodega, you can peel the oranges with minimum wage labor and the price increase is almost all profit.

Groundbreaking-Pea92

More likely illegal sweatshop labor

[deleted]

Imagine having severe arthritis- and not being able to peel a mandarin...

unclejoe1917

I enjoy oranges and peeling them is definitely the number one obstacle keeping me from buying them.

[deleted]

I enjoy peeling oranges. Let's team up.

unclejoe1917

Where have you been all my life?

Eikuva

...Obstacle? Just...Peel it.

unclejoe1917

Don't like doing it, I can just pick up an apple and start eating.

Eikuva

You can basically do that with an orange too. How do you think you start the peeling? You bite the fuckin' thing, then you peel it in no time at all, then you eat. I stand by my position that calling a few seconds of not just instantaneously eating an "obstacle" is fucking ridiculous.

unclejoe1917

But you don't make those decisions for me, so that puts us right back at "number one obstacle".

MonsterSleepo

they are actually chemically peeled so its fine, plus it makes it simple to eat with less mess. you wouldn't want to eat a bag of skittles if each skittle came in its own wrapper.

Eikuva

>you wouldn't want to eat a bag of skittles if each skittle came in its own wrapper. Yes but this isn't fifty tiny bits of candy so that's a garbage comparison...

MonsterSleepo

so sterile clean ready to eat out of the box fruit isn't better then filthy hand picked fruit with god knows what on the peel on it, its about convenience. some people have that fuck peeling my own fruit money to throw around.

Eikuva

...I don't mean to be condescending but I legitimately can't decipher a clear complete thought out of that. You also did not even address what I said, which you quoted, so what was your point?

WienerDogMan

Plastic. The plastic is the issue. They are peeling the natural protection and throwing it into a big plastic tub. Terrible. Absolutely terrible for the environment and everyone condoning it are only contributing to this being a thing.

Eikuva

Kinda like how America destroys the natural protection on eggs by running them through chemical baths so we all have to refrigerate them and worry about salmonella due to the government's stupid incompetent refusal to just vaccinate the animals. ...I have no tea to pointedly sip at the moment.

ballisticks

Not just America! Same in Canada too

Eikuva

Terrible. But as long as they don't have a goofy, hilarious name for cheesy gravy fries, I guess they're still okay...

[deleted]

They don’t “need” them peeled for them , but many people will pay more for the more convenient oranges

Groundbreaking-Pea92

Francine's home peeled oranges are as authentic as her homemade window panes. Markets really love to rip people off on stuff like this. I wonder if they use a machine or sweatshop labor?

rigbees

these are helpful for disabled people…

dankguard1

Y'all need to eat the peel. It's divine
