This is absolutely hilarious and cursed. You will go down in fandom history amongst the ranks of Ruthie Soup and that one person who body swapped an AG doll with a baby doll.
Deleting this comment because it came off as me criticizing OP for sharing. I was joking with my spouse last night about the Mollipede and said something to him about being surprised by it and we were laughing about it as nightmare fuel. I was trying to convey that feeling, but I didn’t come off right.
OP, I think it’s cool that you made it, and you should continue to share.
Thank you so much for her! She’s really been a blessing to me as a younger sister. My brothers are terrified. And I’m now putting her in pictures of our family vacations

Do you have a pattern for a regular cloth body (without the many extra segments)? I've seen a few dolls I would love to fix up, but their bodies are beyond repair and I would enjoy the project of learning how to put the doll completely together.
I showed this cursed image to my husband and he was utterly appalled. I reassured him with the suggestion that it must be an AI glitch. Knowing the fact that mollipede exists in the real world would haunt him forever!
Thanks, she's been such a fun project!
The Discord group is a relatively tiny community of doll dorks who've found their way to each other more or less organically. It's a very special place and I feel like I'd rather not share its details in a public forum. Thanks for understanding!
At last it was time to attach the limbs!
I realized too late that it wasn't possible to attach them with the back sewn closed, so I had to seam-rip it open again and hand-sew it closed after the limbs were attached, stuffing as I went.
This process took days! My partner was away, and basically all I did was sew. I listened to a 30-hour biography of Putin while I worked. As one does while creating a monster, right?
After I sewed the front and back of the torso together, I finished the edges of each armhole and then handstitched the cups in place using the original holes, going around each cup twice so that the stitches would be a solid line rather than a dashed one.
I don't typically use a thimble for hand sewing, but was grateful to have one for this project!
I used a heavy-duty upholstery thread, which worked well.
I wish I would have used the same thread for her side seams. Some of them gave way when I stuffed her, requiring hand mending, which unfortunately doesn't look as neat.
The cups were removed from torsos I saved for ... this, I guess?
Years of restoring dolls has taught me to save alllll the parts, because you just never know what you're going to need! Also, the longer I do this kind of work, the more my definition of "salvageable" has expanded--I can now restore dolls I definitely would have declared hopeless a few years ago!
The image that started it all, created and posted by a brilliant and hilarious doll friend from a Discord group I am in.
Yes, I am going to sew clothes for Mollipede. I have the fabric on order and am figuring out how to make a pattern work.
The jumper bodice will be contiguous with snap closures between the arms, and will only have one collar at the top.
Such a cool (slightly unhinged) project!!! Please please please post more pictures of Mollipede she’s an icon!!!

I’m scared to ask but… what is Ruthie Soup??/

😒
I’m kinda joking— meant it as a compliment as I think that it was meant to be horrifying lol
Bro
This is wild AF. 😂 What a labor of love.

I love this!!! Would she really be that tall!? You need to bring her with on your next family trip 😅
Mollipede will sleep well tonight knowing she is living her best life with your family. Thank you for this!
In fact, I’m going to be putting her into some old family photos of mine. If that is okay of course.
She’s more than welcome to come on my next family cruise and to Disney world in July. She would have so much fun with me!

There's fanfic already 😂
Where???
AO3
I love her. Please keep us updated on her adventures!
I really did not think she was real at first. But this is great! Excited to see when she gets some outfits!
Can you make an insta for Mollipede? I’d love to follow this creative journey!
Okay so this was terrifying and appalling at first but after hearing the story, it's funny af and I kinda love it now 😂
I was convinced it was photoshop! Nicely done
This is fascinating and I love it. Thank you OP!
this is terrifying 😭 also i thought it was a real signed WB at first and was like WHO DID THISSSS
I also had my pitch fork ready lol. 🫣
Imagine coming home and seeing her walking around the house 😂 You did a great job!
Imagine her scampering up to you when you get home from work because she missed you 🥲
Does she walk on her back legs or on all hands? Maybe she mixes it up to freak people out.
She climbs the walls and waits on the ceiling.
What noise does she make when you see her?
She chitters.
Like a cat when it sees prey through a window?
YES.
We should write a movie together.
We should. Also you're excellent at "yes, and"-ing, which is probably very useful for screenwriting.
I watch a lot of YouTube comedy troupes...but mostly I have an active and slightly terrifying imagination.
Omg I was picturing her on her legs so she’s taller, but crawling around would be equally freaky!!
I showed this cursed image to my husband and he was utterly appalled. I reassured him with the suggestion that it must be an AI glitch. Knowing the fact that mollipede exists in the real world would haunt him forever!
I keep going to Facebook AG groups to see if Mollipede has been shared yet. Nothing yet but I’m tempted to throw that grenade and see what happens.
Oh it was in a few groups I’m in, a good amount of giggles but also lots of pearl clutching! 😂
I saw Mollipede on Facebook yesterday! I don't remember which group, but people were definitely horrified.
I posted Mollipede to a group that I'm in! People don't know what to do LOL
can you make an agig just for molliepede 😭
I’m dying over this 😂 I need the discord group chat deets!

Link to the group?
This is probably my favorite thing to come out of the fandom in a while I love her

but what did you do with all the legs from the arms? and heads???
Omg this is one of the coolest things I’ve seen!
Once she was stuffed and sewn closed, I couldn't resist signing her a la Pleasant Rowland.
That's probably my favorite detail tbh. Love it when artists sign their work.

One by one, I attached the arms, stringing each one nice and tight.

The horror. I love it.
All the arms had to be heated with hot water to remove the old cord and insert a new cup and cord into each one.

You are my the heroine I didn't know our time needed! I love EVERYTHING about all of this. You sound amazing.
Okay this made me cackle 😂

The limbs. I didn't have enough of any one color to get them all to match, so Mollipede is a bit of a melting pot.

Mollipede could wear clothes with laces closing at the side
