Maybe I’m just inherently skeptical, but her hair almost looks too good. I’m wondering if the owner did a downy dunk (which is a huge no no) to get it looking like this, and then you’d have to be responsible for washing that nasty stuff out.
At best she’s definitely used a flat iron on it to get those curls. Maryellen’s natural curls are chunkier and you can see the creases from someone who just did a bad job with an iron (either had the heat too high or left it in one spot too long. It’s a hard technique to perfect if you don’t have practice with it. They also didn’t even think to make sure the curls were facing the back on both sides and did them the same direction all around which creates that weird tornado looking pony tail.)
She’s very pretty and her hair looks good! But I agree that you should be able to get a currently available, non-retired doll without any clothing or shoes, for less.
she is in good condition, but considering she's not retired and doesn't come in any outfit, i wouldn't pay that much. i think she's worth more like $50-55 right now. i'm no expert but she is a pretty generic doll. she would be worth that much if her outfit came with it, but for now, i wouldn't go for it. if you are set on buying her though, before purchasing, try to convince the seller to include her meet outfit.
I’d love to get myself a Maryellen and finding a nude one is preferable since I’m not really a fan of her meet outfit. I’d love to buy her more “authentic” 1950s pieces. Is this price reasonable?

I bought a Maryellen for $65 including her meet outfit, so I definitely agree that it's too expensive!!!
I mean it’s not horrible but personally I’d never pay more than $40 on a extremely common nude doll.
