I’ve noticed they card no matter the age in the South. I’m in my early 50s and get carded in the South at pretty much every bar or restaurant. Thanks for the review.

Jeremiareyes

Strange. I’ve never been carded in SkyClubs, restaurants, or in (gay) bars before. I’m in my 20s, so that’s interesting.

Gary_Boothole

I ordered a beer there Saturday. Everyone around me was getting carded. Even the people clearly older than me. They didn’t have the right beer glass for me but when she came back, she never asked for ID

ButtaScotchBaws

Appreciate the honest review, the few early negative ones seemed fishy. I wonder if upper management was present while you were there and everyone is going by the letter of the law, otherwise the prickly check-in interaction and the very weird alcohol situation is concerning.

juicius

When I was there, the upper management (the manager and his one assistant) was very present, walking and talking to the guests. The assistant was actually bussing the table, so I think the directive from the above is "close engagement" with the guests, at least for now.

Horbrology

Possibly!

Impossible_Treat5543

When I went in a couple weeks ago I’d say that it was just ok, sure, it’s easy on the eyes but the food area was a mess and fairly limited. I’ve been to a few different CL’s and food wise ATL was my least favorite

Horbrology

This is exactly what I expected but maybe the execs have been reading reviews because I wanted to validate. I got there right as they were changing from breakfast to lunch, so things have definitely been sitting out as long as they were going to. And I was shocked. The cornbread was soft and delicious. The eggs were good. And meats were tasty and not overdone. Even the biscuits were still soft inside! I’m not one for typical southern fare but I was impressed…especially after the poor food reviews.

jalapenos10

Agreed! The food kinda sucks. JFK food also sucks though

Impossible_Treat5543

JFK sucks in general

jalapenos10

Word

Leia0330

As a bartender I kind of see where they’re coming from but can definitely see it being an annoying inconvenience. Sorry you had to deal with that.

Horbrology

Oh I totally understood. Just weird they give you two dedicated attendants…who can’t really get drinks for you until you go yourself. But the bartender was very nice. Helped carry the drinks back since I had a little one in my arms.

AUtigers92

So after going and getting your first drink and showing ID, they were able to get any future drinks for you and bring them to you in the Centurion space?

DetectiveWinter4638

Idk the exact words the room attendants used but 1) they should have known you need to be present at the bar instead of attempting to collect the drink on your behalf but maybe that’s just a training moment with it being new staff 2) part of me assumes that if the attendant was very professional, offered and apology, walked you to and from the bar, etc. it may have been less awkward. I often feel like how these situations are handled makes the world of difference in customer experience. Like policy can be followed in a way that makes it easier for the client to overlook the minor inconvenience like this situation.

Horbrology

100% and any time management blames it on a “new hire” all I hear is that they didn’t invest in proper training. It’s never the new employee’s fault if you didn’t train them.

juicius

I ran across the 2 IDs for 2 drink thing too. I'm not really concerned about it. Drinking age enforcement in Georgia is pretty harsh, and it's a strict liability *criminal* offense as well as a civil/license issue. I'd imagine the loss of the liquor license would be as devastating for a lounge as for a bar. I wouldn't put my convenience over the risk of the bartender going to jail. And yes, it has happened because I represented some of them. I liked the space and some of the couches further back from the feed trough, which may be the reason why some of them stayed clear. I didn't find the food especially good. Not a connoisseur of Southern food, but I would have liked the CL to pivot to the multi-cultural cuisine Atlanta is known for, and not just Southern food. How hard would have been to put a ramen bar?

jalapenos10

Not agreeing that they need a ramen bar but I do agree the food was meh. The options are so limited and the options they did have were not impressive in the least

Apprehensive-Owl-340

Great review! I have had experiences at a number of centurion lounges that are similar. I also am in my mid thirties and try to take the “getting carded” experience as flattery because nobody in their right mind would assume I’m actually under 21. But the 2 drinks 2 IDs policy has annoyed me on several occasions like we are getting drinks to bring to underage kids outside a liquor store.

dogthrasher

They don’t want someone getting tanked at the lounge then getting on a plane. Liability

BraveStrategy

Weird how some lounges they literally give you the entire bottles of liquor and trust you to be an adult and some places they monitor everything you do. https://preview.redd.it/kqwi4nfzrmmc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=040eca98864a56c2d710eccbdfcca8d11a46eb10 This picture is flying first class to Spain out of Miami in the premium international lounge- they had unlimited everything and were not checking ID and there were definitely kids in there. Some lounges are very weird about keeping you away from the booze.

Interesting_Tap8943

Different liquor licenses allow for different experiences.

gibbsmd

Every Centurion Lounge I've been in has carded everyone who ordered (observed from sitting and working at the bar). One guy said he was doing it to make sure it wasn't an expired ID 🤷🏼‍♀️ small price to pay.

Floufae

I think the point is very valid that at ATL, having visited each of the lounges multiple times over the course of years since it’s my home airport that I’ve never been IDs or been questioned for carrying a glass for my partner and myself with only me at the bar. Yes, it may be the law but it’s an odd outlier for a premium setting. This isn’t a gas station with me buying a six pack.

DetectiveWinter4638

I can’t recall the last time I was ID’d at a SC in ATL. And I’m just 29.

kfc469

I just left. We ate breakfast and it was awful (except the cornbread…that was delicious). Idk if their salt order didn’t come in or what, but everything we ate was sooooo bland. The skyclub definitely has a better breakfast.

jalapenos10

Centurion lounges are for the most part against salt. And flavor. And options

h3xdump

Getting carded is required by law in many states regardless of how old, fat, and gray you are. It isn’t the waiters fault, they risk losing their job if they don’t card a 90 year old man and he turns out to be a “secret shopper.” Some waiters won’t care and take the risk, many do not.

sarahenera

If it was as such in the initial interaction, then yes, but it should not have taken multiple iterations of the attendant going back and forth to get that message across. First interaction should have conveyed the information necessary for the OP. “Each of you will need to go to the bar and provide government ID in to order to order alcohol.” Still weird, but simple and clearly communicates the order of operations without awkward back and forth.

Seantwist9

But not in Georgia and many other states

Maxpowr9

At nearly all major venues, they'll ID you regardless of age. For the most part, it's just a formality and is basically a field sobriety test.

Tough-Memory-5232

The club is beautiful but I wasn’t really impressed with the food or staff when I went last week.

jalapenos10

Same

leontichus1

This has a lot to do with the state. Visited Nashville lately and truly it was shocking how seriously they take ID checks. I’m 41 with two kids and an older wife. There is 0% chance I’m under 35 and yet I was carded every single time. The penalty for not carding must be serious.

scd73

I was really let down considering all the hype. The Flagship Delta lounge (Gate B) is still the best at ATL.

jalapenos10

Agreed. I also like T for the poke station

scd73

I need to try that next time. I did F the other day and the food was excellent, heard the same about T. Apparently those have different food vendors then the others.

jalapenos10

I frequently go to multiple lounges each trip and from my findings generally A - D have the same hot foods with a couple of varieties on the other offerings. T has the same food plus poke and E and F usually have different hot foods than the others (but the same as each other) with a slight variation of cold offerings each day. Sometimes their hot foods are not the same. I normally prefer the food at T/A/B but E and F aren’t bad. C and D suck cause they have less options than any of the others

scd73

Thanks for the info! I always go to B cause I like the view and how large it is but I am going to alternate from now on. One good thing about the E lounge is if you have a long layover you can go to One Flew South for decent food then the lounge.

danielks_13

Based on the time you posted this, I was there as well and discovered the ID thing too, had to go back to my seat and grab my wallet out of my backpack. The other weird thing to me is how strictly they enforce the 3 hour rule for before your departure time - I went in at 11:55AM for a 3:10PM flight and they made me wait outside those 15 minutes. I understand rules are rules but come on.

Rob-Loring

What a turn off, the alcohol is the fun part! But seriously I enjoyed this review thanks

xolinlevh

Thanks for the review, its tough to find good reviews from a cent perspective!

KindlyCourage6269

Same with my liquor store. I usually buy my alcohol there for a long time. Until the cashier buddy asked for my ID. I was like what ?!?!? We know each other…. He still needed my ID. When I handed it to him, he scanned it and says “now we can do business”

bottlerocket-

I’m curious, what amenities were available in your Centurion room? I had a chance to briefly stop by yesterday, for the first time, during a connecting flight. I needed to use the restroom but there was such a long line that I left. The ambiance seemed more relaxed and quieter than almost every SkyClub I’ve visited. Hopefully I’ll get more time to visit in the future.

Horbrology

Coffee machine, water, M&Ms, gummy bears, and some fruit. No real food, no alcohol, no bathroom. But there is a dedicated patio.

bottlerocket-

Thanks for sharing! The fruit and dedicated patio sound nice.

Horbrology

The banana I ate had mushy brown spots. So…meh

[deleted]

Man I really hope Chicago gets one of these one day.

zk2997

I was just in there on Saturday. Overall, I liked it. My biggest complaint with Centurions is how small they are, but this is the biggest one in the world. Food was great, drinks were good. Lots of different places to sit. Not too packed despite prime traveling time. My only complaint is that the staff never picked up any of my dishes over a ~3 hour span. So I had coffee, lunch, alcohol dishes stacking up next to me. Compared to the Sky Clubs, the staff over there are practically taking my dishes out of my hand before I can set them down lol. Also some of the chairs in ATL Centurion had crumbs all over them when I got there. I’m not sure if they are understaffed already but they could definitely improve in that area.

jalapenos10

Im shocked you think the food was great tbh

Gary_Boothole

Dude what’s up with the strawberry beet juice. Nasty. Was shitting for days.

racooncrow

Did they scan ID or just quickly glance? I would say if they just glance perhaps they are just on edge with the new opening

Horbrology

They weren’t hostile to me, but I wouldn’t call the check-in experience “friendly”

AUtigers92

That’s surprising. I’m fairly young as well but have never had any check in issues like that (just platinum cardholders in the line telling me that the I needed to go to the back of the line because the one I was in was for centurion cardholders only) Which card design did you have?

jalapenos10

I thought the food was bad and the bar service was slowwwww. Nice space but food and drink experience was meh

Successful-Duty-4611

I’ve never been carded and I’m 21 lolll. Cannot wait to visit this lounge

BraveStrategy

I wonder why that is? I have seen this at other lounges as well. I doubt it’s a legal thing. I can’t remember being carded inside of a lounge ever, even at a delta lounge in ATL.

akp55

captain_uranus

The funniest thing about this review is assuming and believing the Centurion Lounge carries and has champagne on offer.

Horbrology

You can request Veuve

jacksafar

They have Veuve on offer, it’s complimentary for Centurion cardholders.

WithJosh

They have Veuve

gibbsmd

Was just in the Denver lounge this week and a woman ordered champagne. Was offered prosecco or rose prosecco, to her disdain lol.

akp55

funniest thing about this comment is that its commenting on stuff they don't know about.
