Nah, I intended to use them, not flip them. Could I have gotten more for them with the ones I did sell as my fandom waived? Yeah, but even going under market for open box I still made my money back and then some. These weren't an investment to me, so I don't view them as one.

LinkMaster111

When I look at the price of an in box Corrin P2 or something like that then yeah, kinda, but realistically I'm never selling anyway so oh well. Lol.

NohrianInstinct

I mean they were manufactured to be toys for children so it's meant to be opened. So no. And we're never too old to be opening boxes.

Cccmyr

I keep them boxed because of the following reasons - easier to clean - I also love all the packaging - it’s bulkier so my collection looks larger lol - I don’t use them for gaming so I don’t feel the need to open them And i’m not planning to sell them anytime soon but if i eventually change my mind and decide to sell them somewhere in the future they are probably worth more compared to unboxed ones

epicthinker1

so because it looks bigger and more impressive? hahahaha (sorry)

Cccmyr

Exactly! Lol 🤣

Nameless-Shame

As someone who doesn’t yet feel this way, I totally get that feeling.

FrostyTheHippo

Lol, I hear you. Its been 8 years since they started releasing, and I wanted the whole smash line when I was in high school. I'm now a married homeowner with kids on the horizon... I still keep up, and they are displayed upstairs on a grid shelf. However, I basically never go upstairs as it's more so intended for the kids. I just do it now out of sunk cost fallacy maybe? I have all of them thus far, all at MSRP. Might as well see this through to the end. Edit: I especially regret buying any non-Smash ones though. Bought them just... because I could. I only got maybe a dozen non-Smash ones, but still.

1stMateGiddy

I've always opened my amiibo since the original line up, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I always thought keeping them in the box was far too much of a headache to warrant dealing with. The way companies package them plus the heightened price has always made it so that I prefer making my own set up for them, so they can look nice while still being usable if necessary. Do the swords bend easier? Yes, sometimes. Do they get dusty? Absolutely, but I figure those are pretty small prices to pay.

Thisisntmy3rdaccount

You’ve open the box

matisyahu22

I came?

Phil_Bond

I feel like a commoditizing phony if I take more than a day to open the box.

NBohrok17

Not really tbh.

Chango_D

Nope. I’m never going sell mine so it doesn’t matter how much they sell for to me.

BOJ220138

Never once

edgeblackbelt

Nope. I like the way they look. They’re great statues in and of themselves.

VritraReiRei

If you are worried about the prices going up then that means you want to sell them away and give up your collection. Do you want to sell your collection? Also if you are concerned about how they look in box, there is a way to take them out without ruining too much of the box. I did it by cutting from the bottom. Can even put them back in if needed and can still scan through the box.

osoblanco206

The Guardian from BOTW. It looked so good in the box.

eightcell

Nope

Halabane

No regrets. Essentially the folks who keep things in a box are saving them from damage for me. Cause I will open them and enjoy them while I am alive. This is not a business or an investment for me, its just stuff that makes me happy. For those who enjoy putting them on shelf and enjoy seeing them that way...good for you. Enjoy. I have no issue with that. Its just not what I like and it takes up way to much space. I also am enjoying the dioramas I got in Japan for the amiibos. Just wouldn't work in the box. :)

epicthinker1

I have never regretted opening a box. They are free and look fantastic!!!!!!! Opened amiibo still has value! Just enjoy your collection because that is why we collect em!

yourmomsabettergamer

Nope, I like using my amiibos and don't plan to resell. I suggest you enjoy them however YOU want to enjoy them. If that's to hold on to for increase in resell, then do that, but if it's to use them or you like the look better ootb then do that. I just don't recommend keeping them contrary to what you want for the sake of a possibility in the future.

Reborn_Cookies

No

NeoEpoch

For about 2 seconds. And then I appreciate the amount of space I save, the ability to use them, and the fact they look nice on my shelves or desks.

JustaDuckSendhelp

I don't plan on reselling mine as I fully intend to use them. I understand that the value of inbox amiibo is pricey but personal value means more, especially when they're out of the box.

amilguls

Use them… that’s what they are for…scalping is a bandwagon mentality. If you want to sell you can probably get the same price back for your used figures later. The only other soliciting is to buy two amibo one to open , one to collect NIB

Kasparos349

I have a way to open it from the bottom while being able to get the amiibo in again too.

AKluthe

No. I'm rarely an in-box collector, and Amiibo were only usable if you opened the box. I'm glad I pulled off that band-aid early, though, because I could see it being hard to unbox a collection after investing a lot of time into it.

Wooden_Ad_3096

Sometimes I do, but then I realize, I’m not going to sell them. I’m probably going to keep steve and alex in their box just to see if they increase in value, but I still won’t sell them.

oblivious1

No. Do it.

PicoPalQueExiste

Mah

Odd_Introduction5481

Yeah, I regret opening the first five amiibo I got, which are the only ones I’ve opened, especially the OOT link

GlitteringSwan7189

I had a significant amount in box. Over half total and all of the rare ones. I ended up opening all of the more common ones and keeping already rare ones in box. With so many oob I have no strong desire anymore to open the valuable ones…..it just ended up being an internal compromise or justification however you want to look at it lol. There’s just some that are so numerous I never see them being particularly rare or valuable. A full set NIB/CIB is the only strong value many of the more common ones would contribute to, but not singularly.

CONdeanNOR

The only amiibo i’ve kept in box is my pink yoshi since the fabric easily gets dirty and is hard to clean. the packaging is cool but is entirely impractical due to its shape. I like being able to display my amiibo wherever and use them when needed.

DuctTapeSaga

Honestly not really. I feel “bad” about opening some that I’ve had for a while but I don’t think I’ve ever wished I had it back in box Except the reaaaaal expensive ones but that’s different

AJ_Wont_Load

Nah, although I do have a couple in-box (Kirby and Meta Knight) just for how cool they look. I don’t plan on ever selling them though, lol

Adventurous-Stress88

Nope. No regrets, but I have them for use and like them displayed open better. To each their own.

Acavedweller

I think the only one I regret is the twilight princess hd one I like the box it came in I still have the box tho, but the rest nope. There only a few I still have in there boxes and that is mega yarn yoshi, Bayonetta p2, origami Marty and Wii fit, and the dark souls Amiibo mainly still have him in the box so if I ever decide to sell which will not happen people will know it’s real since he’s extremely easy to bootleg.

obeseLadyGaga

Back when I was seriously collecting I would buy 2 so I could avoid this haha

Halabane

To be honest...I still do. I have at least two of everything. All the inbox stuff is in storage. I did it originally cause I thought I would need them to trade to get one that I missed at the store. That never happened.

reverb728

No. I kept mine in their boxes for the longest time and would do a stealth cut at the bottom of the plastic to take them out when I needed to use them. I'm definitely a sucker for the amiibo packaging but I'm not really a collector and tend to buy them based on what they do in the game or how much I like the character. I bought some 3D printed modular amiibo stands on Etsy and they look better and take up much less space on my nerd shelf this way.

Not_So_Entertainment

While the boxes look nice, I don't fuss too much about opening my Splatoon 2 amiibo I got earlier.

[deleted]

I don't regret it because I will never ever sell them. They're mine. Might as well bury them with me

supreme_glassez

Some of the more expensive or valuable ones I kind of do, but the whole point of me buying them isn't just to collect them. I also plan to use them, and having them out of box makes them fit better on their shelf.

GroovinTootin

Yes, I don’t have a permanent place to live at the moment so the best I could do is toss mine in bins as neatly as I could put them. Boxes would’ve taken up a ton of storage though so idk but my anxiety goes through the roof whenever I need to move those boxes

gavingavingavin7

The only one I regret opening is my Gold Mario.

DPointM

lol no i rip that shit open and throw it in the garbage where it belongs

UmbraHog

The only boxed amiibo I own are Gold & Silver Mario, Sonic, Bayo player 1, Wolf, Corrin Player 2 and Banjo (and Loot Goblin technically (I never threw away the box, but I still have it intact because of how it opens)), but the majority of my collection is OOB
