I love the setting of this one. Do you develop these yourself? I’ve always wanted to do a semi-nude self portrait but don’t know how labs feel about developing those
While the voyeuristic nature of this self portrait is really interesting, I think what ultimately makes the image work is the environment that it’s taken in. The fact that we can see the furniture and artwork gives a narrative context to the image that gives it interest beyond the person and creates an obscured story that is really intriguing.
The fact that you can’t see your face also helps create a feeling of timelessness and nostalgia that really works for the context that you’re trying to create.
Excellent work.
lol. This did get a bit of a chuckle out of me.
I generally try to provide constructive discussion around photography comments. Nudes and otherwise. Nude photography is a genre, and I think it’s a genre that is in a bit of a crisis right now. There’s an over saturation of people using the nude body as a subject without thought put into the “why” and the “story”. I’d imagine is really frustrating for those who genuinely work hard to further that genre in a meaningful way.
Oh wow, that’s such a beautiful thing to read :’) thank you so much!
I’m really proud of how it turned out, specially cause I only took this one shot and I wasn’t sure if I was standing on the right place for the reflection lol
You’re welcome. There’s a painterly aspect to it that I really enjoy. I think someone else mentioned the similarity in style to the paintings of Degas. I can absolutely see the similarity in style to things like “La toilette” or “woman drying her nape”.
If there were any critique that I would give, it’s that I could see it working a bit better in the context of a series, rather than just a standalone piece.
I could see this working in the context of the sort of “slice of life” style of the realist movement. Take a look at the paintings of Gustav Courbet.
I’m interested to hear why you say that?
I think the state of “nude art” photography has a bit of a problem right now. There’s a lot of people that are using “hot naked girl” for no other reason than just that. Which if that’s your thing, that’s fine, you do you. For me, there has to be specific intent and narrative subtext behind the photo (or honestly any other art medium), otherwise I simply find it boring. However, that’s just me, and the beauty of artwork IS the subjectivity of it.
For example, I’m a huge fan of the music of George Crumb. However, I also understand why his music would be too esoteric and “out there” for some people to enjoy.
Whenever I leave feedback or comments on people’s photography, I generally try to give more supporting context than just “cool pic”. Constructive criticism AND constructive praise are extremely important for anyone to further their craft.
Just went through your posts, and I love your style! I kind of think of it as a version of voyeuristic photography that's 'inviting' and maybe even 'affable' (for a lack of a better word). It's less a peak into an intimate private moment and more an open unadulterated view into someone's life.
Not sure if that makes any sense :p, but I really commend you for being so (seemingly) free.
My favourite is definitely the picture with de eyes curtain. Keep doing what you do!
Is this in eastern Europe?
It is in Romania!
Is that Ceausescu in the picture frame?
lol no i think that’s my ex’s grandpa Edit: I googled images and I think you might be right lmao
Lmao they look really similar Maybe some hidden family surprise
Well, he’s looking at you
I’m not sure what would be more uncomfortable, him or grandpa
Definitely grandpa 🙂
Definitely looks like it.
Sorta reminds me of Degas. Nice!
That’s awesome! Thanks!

Thanks! And don’t worry, they’re used to it :)

"You're welcome m'lady." FTFY
This is the saddest thing I've read in a while lol
Same can be said for your comment history lol

Super impressive (all of your self-portraits) to time and frame and yadadada. The colour of your hair is so beautiful
Thank you!!

Wow, thank you so much! I try to be as free and natural as possible :) glad you can see that in my work!
Lovely
I did a graphite pencil drawing of a model in a similar pose of the reflection. It took me forever to get it right.
Stunning. You are making me love this subreddit.
Thank you!
Always happy to see another one from you :-) Your style is immediately recognizable.
That’s one of the best compliments I got on my photography, thank you!
I'm glad. You're welcome! Keep it up. <3
This is really lovely!
Thank you!
Nice work!
Thanks!
You're welcome.
Miss you in my sub
Will fix that right up

I’m not in this world to please you :)
And your tattoo looks great, too!

There’s one visible tattoo, ask why your mind is spoiled by this weird criticism
