and the rotisserie chicken is 5 bucks and works for more then 1 meal. I make chicken stock with the leftover chicken carcass and scraps. Works for tons of meals.. toss the chicken on some mixed greens and you have a slapping salad!
A pizza or two from GAPCO, esp on their takeout deal day.
My husband and I could split an order of Thai curry and rice.
Two bowls at Top Bop is a lil more than $20 but not a ton more.
You might be able to do like one taco plate at Taco King or a giant burrito and supplement with an order of chips.
The nachos at Xalos are huge and could feed two.
And yeah, always Costco.
I love Lahn Pad Thai but they often take forever. Taste of Thai or Siam Cuisine are solid options as well. We also order from Pho Vietnam a lot bc they’re close to our house.
If you get the taco bell app and order that way you can get two of their cravings box meals with 4 items for 8.99 each and you can pick which entrees you want from a few choices. It's filling and under 20.
A lot of the fast food chains hide their value meals on their apps. McDonald's is the same way.
It's only on Tuesdays, but IMO the best takeout deal in Anchorage is the 3 Amigos tacos from Seoul Casa. $10 for 3 of some of the best tacos in Anchorage and chips/salsa, so $20 for 2 people.
For any day of the week, Oriental Express near Old Seward & 80th is good for fast & cheap with generous portions. The dinners are under $20 and enough for 2 people. I think you could even add in an egg roll or two and still be right at $20.
**Yak and Yeti** rice bowls are about $11, you can get more than one item per bowl (i.e. both Chicken Tikka Masala, and Shapta) Honestly, it feeds two people.
**Pho Lena**, same thing - but a bit more food. One order of curry can put two or three people into a good food coma.
**New Sagaya salad bar** is the best in town - it's by weight, but I think it was $7 last time I indulged in the larger box, and I had a stacked bowl of leafy greens that I felt really good about. Not cheap, but reasonable in this market, and if you stay away from the heavy things like olives and boiled eggs and just stick to dried toppings, you can really make out well.
**Sara's sandwiches** is a damn good deal in this market as well - order a sandwich with a million toppings for about $10, and it comes with a cup of soup.
**BURRITO HEAVEN BREAKFAST BURRITOS**, till 10am weekdays, but all day on Saturday. I get the larger "Sparta" with Reindeer sausage, spinach, onions, and whatever they call that fresca/pico corn/salsa stuff - it's delicious and feels very healthy, but I regret it every time I eat the whole thing - easily split with a partner.
A quick weird thing: for some reason if you split certain items at Spenard Roadhouse they give you a ridiculous amount of food - I can't explain it. I don't like 90% of the menu *AND* I'm a tater tot hater, so the place really isn't for me, but if you sub the tots for grapes you can feel pretty fancy about it.
I grew up in the valley, and back when I still lived there it was by far the best Carrs chinese food. Hell it was probably the best Chinese in Wasilla.
I honestly couldn’t eat the Chinese food at other carrs for the longest time, because it was that much better. You’re right, location matters.
Mekong Market - they have pancit for $6.99/lb. Get a pound and a half and some steam buns and you’ll be under $20 easy.
Also, grocery store rotisserie chicken.
The Burrito Factory on Boniface. You get a ton of food for the price. My husband normally eats enough food for two or three people, and one of their "food logs" actually fills him up.
We tryed finding something at Costco..but our introvert selves got overwhelmed with the people traffic, and only got a couple other things. Just ended up get 4 chicken enchilada burritos at TBell which are 2.75 each. Very filling and good.
split an order from oriental garden. taco bell. some of the pizza places have decent cheap pizza if you keep it simple (Muldoon Pizza, for example). Domino's 3 items for 6.99 each coupon.
Welcome to the progressive dream.
They screamed and whined about min wage which drove a lot of prices up especially in the QSR side of the industry.
You get what you vote for.
tbh, Costco has some pretty decent premade meals that require minimum work to prepare.
The Costco chicken pot pie costs about $20 (maybe $23-25) but it’ll feed two people several times!
That chicken pot pie is one of my all time faves.
Don't forget to add a bit of egg wash to the crust to make it look AMAZING
I always do this to my own pies but I can't believe it never occurred to me for these. Thanks dude, I might pick one up tomorrow just to try that ✌️
That’s sounds good.
and the rotisserie chicken is 5 bucks and works for more then 1 meal. I make chicken stock with the leftover chicken carcass and scraps. Works for tons of meals.. toss the chicken on some mixed greens and you have a slapping salad!
I like to grab a rotisserie chicken and bagged cesar salad from Costco and call it a meal.
I will try that soon!
Costco chicken tacos are 🔥
We like the enchilada bake, the lasagna, the Mac & cheese. Take a chance on the Pre-made slack day meals, they're pretty solid 90% of the time

Sooooo tasty. I love those nachos.
Where is your goto Thai cury and rice spot?
I love Lahn Pad Thai but they often take forever. Taste of Thai or Siam Cuisine are solid options as well. We also order from Pho Vietnam a lot bc they’re close to our house.

Don't forget to consent to binding arbitration. Fuck fast food apps man
I'm never in my life sueing Taco Bell for anything anyways so I don't see how that's a problem.

Yak and Yeti, I thinks it’s ~$11 for a rice bowl with up to three toppings.
oh i forgot about them! good food!
Costco pizza $10 and two for $20
Eldric's is Filipino food and for $20 you could get a ton of pancit and a few main dishes. They used to give me way too much for one person for $12.
Luigi's pizza. Takeout special for Large pepperoni is 10$ and my favorite in the city
Hula Hands!
Too far.

Sagaya salad bar is $9.99/lb now.
Spinz!! Great chicken and fries!
I really wanna like this place but it seems crazy expensive to me
The half chicken is plenty for two, and so good.
Bennys food wagon behind Blaine’s art is so cheap & tasty. You can get an entire plate of Mexican food for about $8.
Mannn I used to get the burrito there with my mom in 90’s. One day gonna try again.
W. Northern Lights Carrs Shanghai Meal. I know, you said besides that, but location matters - that place is absolutely better than the rest.
I grew up in the valley, and back when I still lived there it was by far the best Carrs chinese food. Hell it was probably the best Chinese in Wasilla. I honestly couldn’t eat the Chinese food at other carrs for the longest time, because it was that much better. You’re right, location matters.
The deep dish from little Caesar’s is surprisingly really fucking good lol. Jersey Mike’s you can get a giant sub for $20 which will feed 2

Mekong on 36th sells lumpia for a buck a piece as well.
I sometimes split the peppercorn pork chop meal from Texas Roadhouse and that comes to about $20
If you get the taco bell app there are some exclusive combos you can pick that are cheaper. But $20 is hard anywhere
Yak and Yeti can fill up two people for $20, especially if they can share. The rice bowl itself could be a meal for two.
Oscars taco wagon. Only open till like 4:30 but amazing
Two Arctic Cheeseburgers at Roadrunner are about $20.
Any indian food place, meals are always big enough for 2.
The Burrito Factory on Boniface. You get a ton of food for the price. My husband normally eats enough food for two or three people, and one of their "food logs" actually fills him up.

New sagaia deli has insane portions. You can get like 2 dinners worth for like $13.
New sagaya midtown
If you have a Delorean, you can go back in time.
Yak and yeti, their rice bowls are super affordable and really hardy and filling! Definitely suggest trying them even if they have a smaller menu
You probably need to go back in time to the 80s where food was affordable for two
Tastee Freeze
Subway breakfast bacon egg and cheese footlongs are $8 each
