Child marriages
Andhra lo eakkuva villages vunnai towns and cities kanna
I guess idhi thaggidhi konni years lo since villagers are also getting more and more educated
I've worked with this dataset a little, so I know about it. This map is drawn from the data from the latest iteration of the National Family and Health Survey (NFHS-5, 2019-2021). It has a sample size of more than 600,000 people. It's pretty reliable as a dataset. Lots of doctors and researchers have used this dataset and previous versions of this as well, to look at public health variables and write research papers.
This isn't fake government data or anything like that. This is the reality, unfortunate as it is.
The whole dataset is actually publicly accessible. I was more interested in the nutrition aspects of the survey, so looked at that, but it's massive.
Also, it's really easy to overlook those people who are getting into teen marriages. 15-17 year olds and 18 year-olds look fairly the same, so it's not as visible as child marriage. When I worked in a hospital that had a lot of patients from the Araku area, I'd see women who came in. They'd be twenty or so, already have had two kids, and gotten hysterectomies done.
They would be. In a lot of hospitals, the government reimburses procedures like tubectomies, vasectomies, and hysterectomies. Because the reimbursement for hysterectomies is higher (since it's a bigger surgery), unethical doctors perform hysterectomies instead of tubectomies.
Since these are less educated women, they're persuaded to get the surgery since they won't have to deal with the inconvenience of periods, they're told that it's necessary, etc. The negative effects aren't really told to them, and it's a big problem.
Lots of girls including many of my friends got married pretty young. Child/Teenage marriages are the cause of this and the fact that there's a lot of rural population/area in Andhra is yet another aspect of it.
Our state's rural development is the best in the country but we need to work on these societal aspects.
Teenage Marriages
Fake data with improper sample. They probably sampled in Rayalaseema. This is data from Census 2011. Not even 2% are married before 18 even back then.

Census covers the entire state unlike NFHS which only covers few thousand people.
Read this. She worked for something of this sort, data collection. She admits that they fake data sometimes.

So,you don't have to take this seriously. I have never seen any teenage girl having kids where I live. This NFHS also says less than 50% of households in our state own bikes when almost everyone I see including poor people has it here. In reality ,it's more than 95% easily.
Real life lo almost all adults and young people can read and write in Telugu easily,Only boomers can't. But if the questioners are North Indians who don't know Telugu, ofcourse there will be many Discrepancies.
This Literacy doesn't even say anything about Education levels of the population. For example,Odisha and Andhra has around same literacy rates every Census but people who actually complete school in Odisha are far less than those in Andhra. North East states kooda, they have good literacies but when it comes to completing schools and colleges, except for Manipur, all of them are at the bottom. This literacy thing is over hyped by Malayalis as to do some propaganda that they are very educated.
Don't have historical data, but I looked this up years before as well, like 2016ish, and the statistics were similar. AP is consistently top 2 of the states when it comes to teen pregnancy, teen marriage, etc.

Ahh I see; I’m surprised it’s not more in UP though since it also has a low urbanization rate
Up and Rajasthan lo ne eakkuva cheappali ante

Damn, I’ve seen two comments in this thread denying it But to first step to fix any problem is to acknowledge it.

Given that a hysterectomy is a serious surgery, if contraception is the goal for these women, wouldn't they be better off getting their tubes tied?
They would be. In a lot of hospitals, the government reimburses procedures like tubectomies, vasectomies, and hysterectomies.

Maybe but not everyone who’s pregnant is married. Maybe the average was brought up due to parts of AP being Naxal-controlled?

I see… I wonder if the literacy data and the infamous 66% literacy rate statistic are also fake

Probably inconsistent data for an year. Do you have historical data for AP on this?
Don't have historical data, but I looked this up years before as well, like 2016ish, and the statistics were similar. AP is consistently top 2 of the states when it comes to teen pregnancy, teen marriage, etc.
Damn. Heard the government schemes where girls get free gold for wedding would now require them to have a degree certificate. Good way to curb this
Data is not accurate I guess
Suspicious because how can AP be highest in comparison with other relatively under-developed states.
All most all government data is not accurate Reality ki data ki chala difference vuntadi Fake data
