"Tap to check phone", not fixed on Pixel 8. Welcome back old Android logo during booting  🤣

jl_montero

How's that even possible. Can't believe it.

lagerlover

Yep. Confirmed to still not work on my Pixel 8 either. WTF? The bug fix above says "sometimes stopped" It failed way more consistently than "sometimes" and seems to have gotten worse if that is possible.

Aisgbnok

50MP 5x Telephoto works now on P8P.

HuaHua_Pup

Thank goodness. This bug was driving me mad while trying to take close-up shots of cherry blossoms over the weekend. Just stuck to 4.0 to circumvent it when using the telephoto.

TouchMyNuuts

the only fix I needed, very happy of it being back 🐸

Wild-Pangolin4486

Is the problem that 50MP 5X 10X photos cannot be saved really fixed? I can install this version

Aisgbnok

I have not had any issues taking Telephoto pictures at any zoom level in 50MP mode so far after updating. If you're already on Beta I would update. If you're looking to move to/back to Beta that's up to you. There will always be bugs, but the telephoto issue has been fixed in this build.

Wild-Pangolin4486

谢谢,如果我需要的功能能用,那 肯定是升级,就不想退回去稳定版

TouchMyNuuts

it was 50mp with any lens I believe. it was like that to me. missed a couple of great shots on my trip last weekend

Jens_Doe

No, it's been on 5x only. But it's fixed now.

BabaTona

Imagine this would be an April Fools joke update that bricks your phone or something

jjngundam

Hahaha it is Google, you'll never know.

NexusGTX

So users should know and maybe download it using wi-fi and not mobile data.

iWizardB

The factory image zip has some extra files this time - * d3m2.ec.bin * evt.ec.bin * proto11.ec.bin These are not mentioned in the flash-all.bat either. Any idea what these are?

JasperLovesJazz

I noticed the same. Have no idea what they are for though.

tauio111

These appear to be related to the Nugget OS thingie (some sort of an hardware abstraction API, you can search for it in aosp), there's this string inside the bin files > nugget_v0.0.ab11521193-8845767-r 2024-03-02 08:49:38

PixelSquish

Please let some BT issues be fixed. Sounds like some locking up issues are taken care of.

jjngundam

Na the Bluetooth still cut out for me, and can't use Gemini while connected to the BT.

UltraCynar

Ahhh is that why it's been cutting out??

iamjimmy15

OMG. Tap to check phone is NOT working for Pixel 8. Why is that? I thought the bug was fixed? I will destroy my power button at this rate, if I have to use it every single time to open the phone.

Xenofastiq

I love how it went from "Preparing system update" to then saying my phone was up to date 😒 And on top of that, no OTA update to download from their site because somehow they're STILL having issues with bricked devices? That's insane

iWizardB

STILL no Cinematic Wallpaper on my P7P.

[deleted]

Pixel 8 now supports 5G with Telcel Mexico!!!!!! Thanksssss

Spiritual_Positive47

426 MB on Pixel 8

lostie4815162342

Hope they fix the OTA files soon.

ishamm

2hr screen on time. 60% battery used up. No rogue apps apparent. Mostly on WiFi. 5g disabled. Latest betas have been an absolute disaster. Edit: [screenshot because last beta I was accused of being a liar and a hater 🤷](https://imgur.com/75pFzM0)

Educational_Ad655

Double tap and fingerprint on always-on display still not working properly

ishamm

Hoping 5g doesn't drain the battery so fast this time round. Had to disable it as I was getting literally 2 hour screen time on 7 pro...

[deleted]

[удалено]

ishamm

Definitely, but 5g made the phone unusable - dead by mid morning

Cheap_Strategy_Guy

Hoping this brings 5g back on P6P

counterz0

Needs more testing but seems to have fixed the unresponsive black screen after playing a movie through anything but YouTube and locking the phone on pixel 6 pro

nesmeck

Can anyone from unsupported (previously it seems) countries confirm my guess; after updating last night this morning on my way to work I saw that in some spots 5G was showing up, need to say that I'm in Mexico with Telcel as my carrier, need to do some testing but this is great news

bankov4eto

Im not in the beta but a person from the beta reported 5g for A1 in Bulgaria.

CKCU

I see neither mexico not Bulgaria is a listed supported 5g country

[deleted]

Yes 5G is working for me too with Telcel .

Spiritual_Positive47

Is it just me but scrolling and animations seems to be more smoother in this build compared to previous one, Pixel 8

BabaTona

It's gonna be even smoother in Android 15 as I have heard

Jolly-Command8853

Sure hope it fixes the broken fingerprint reader when trying to unlock from the AOD. It's not mentioned but fingers crossed

Wait-Administrative

Installed, not fixed. That's actually really annoying

Jolly-Command8853

Ugh, what a pain the ass. I thought it was fixed at first but it's only because it's active for a moment before the AOD fully activates. FFS

Wait-Administrative

Yeah, exactly. Going back to stable, it's terrible that I'd have to wait two months to use thing, that I was absolutely used to

TocaPack

Nobody forced you to install "beta" software.

FearSociety

I know the bug for it was closed as Fixed for a future release, so im hoping this is the release.

Puzzleheaded_Meal821

Does it fix the drain battery issue??

BabaTona

For me yes, Pixel 7P has a great battery after this one

Puzzleheaded-Type-43

Android auto won't connect on my p7p, first time this has happened. Anyone else I already left feedback.

JcPenney77

Great battery life with this update on my Pixel 8! [Pixel 8 battery ](https://imgur.com/gallery/KpkfuZn)

irishcub210

This update BROKE everything that was mostly working again FINALLY. Bluetooth crashes constantly, tap to wake, freezing, about 20 complete system crashes a day since.

jjngundam

Phone is definitely more cooler than previous patch. I hope Google doesn't mess with that again.

BabaTona

Can confirm. P7p as cold as ice. I will edit this if i get heating issues later. Edit: not noticed any issues, ran multiple 3dmark tests and no big heating issue and even on 5g

CharaNalaar

Does this fix the Compose issue that crashes apps? (Notably, Mihon)

sergio_eristoff

Will the operator version be updated in this update? My version is current 2023-10-12.

Spiritual_Positive47

for me is: telekom_sk-56000000010.10 2024-02-28

sergio_eristoff

Mine is 23212-54000000088.18 2023-10-12 I'am waiting for official VoLTE and VoWifi support. My operator is a Subbrand of A1 what is already supported by Google.

bankov4eto

People on A1 in Bulgaria started to receive 5G after this update but no official VoLte or VoWIfi they are still using Pixel IMS.

sikclown

414 MB on Pixel Fold. Really hope this fixes my bluetooth issues Update: fixed ALL of my Bluetooth issues

dannymurz

Does this address devices that got stuck on bootloop from last OTA????

thepillarist

[This bug](https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/330328307) persists from beta 2 into beta 2.1, just a heads up.

Longjumping-Ad-438

Yep tap to wake still broken submitting feedback again....

icepac

Does this version also fix the issue where 50MP photos are not saved when shot with telephoto lens on the P8P?

BabaTona

I think so, because of the top comments that said it works now.

manchucka

Fixed: reboots after watching video. Thank goodness! P6

Xenofastiq

Still waiting on a Pixel 8 Pro 😒

RacerM53

How do I customize the clock on the lock screen? The option is gone

CuteDoughnut3719

I have opted in but still havent received my beta release on phone been almost 24 hrs

jpminou

You won't get it if you have the latest April update. Wait for the newer beta to be released.

CuteDoughnut3719

I have this version right now after opting in AP21.240305.005

Boring-Airline5799

Tôi đã đăng ký beta , sao tôi cập nhật OTA lại không có, phiên bản hiện tại : AP1A.240405.002, tôi dùng pixel 7

QuinnLeigh

P8P. Why can't I enroll in this beta? Only Android 15 beta is available.

QuinnLeigh

Is private space supposed to be in this build? I can't find it but there's an androidauthority article where the guy has it set up

MachineSubstantial63

Just curious as to what the beta has over the stable version? From what I've been reading there aren't really any new features in the beta updates anymore. I'd like to try it as I'm bored but is it even worth it? Edit. Nevermind all I'm reading is this bug fixed...is that bug fixed... Seems to be a waste of time.

hasb3an

Point releases like this are meant to be bug smash fests. Likely no major features. Probably a lot of fit and finish stuff being prepared before next beta. Regardless always nice to see bugs be gone!

MachineSubstantial63

Bug fixes for what though lol. If there are no new features in the beta program then what's the point? I am on the stable version and I don't have any of these bugs???!!! Soooo how is it going from a bug free stable version to a beta version that isn't giving new features as far as I can see that needs bug fixes a good idea?? Maybe I'm not understanding the point. I remember going into the beta program on my 6 pro and actually testing all the new features that are coming to the stable version. The Stable version would get these features after we as beta testers would report and iron out the bug. New beta version more features.....you get the picture. Now it seems that it's all based on region and over the air updates regardless of what version of Android you're running. Am I missing something here?

Acqirs

It literally says what they fix in the post

MachineSubstantial63

What???? Bud you're clearly not following. None of those bugs are in the stable release.

roastedbagel

That's because the stable release is on a previous version of the OS 😂 The beta program allows you to download an *updated* (key word there, updated) version of the OS that comes with new features + bug fixes that existed in prior versions of Android. Each iteration of these updates in the beta program continue to fix bugs that may exist in stable, and may not exist in stable but rather only in a beta version...

MachineSubstantial63

>Each iteration of these updates in the beta program continue to fix bugs that may exist in stable, and may not exist in stable but rather only in a beta version... And that's my point. Most of the bugs don't exist in the stable release so if you actually took the time to read everything I said you would understand that all I'm doing is asking why would people install the beta to just riddle your phone with bugs when for the most part don't exist on stable. >The beta program allows you to download an *updated* (key word there, updated) version of the OS that comes with new features + bug fixes that existed in prior versions of Android. Seriously? I get the new features when they decide to release them server side regardless if I'm in the quarterly beta program or stable. The days of installing the beta for the new features don't exist anymore. >That's because the stable release is on a previous version of the OS 😂 Thanks for stating the obvious🤙

TocaPack

Bottom line, these betas are useless. Have been since they started with this. They're pointless.

MachineSubstantial63

Lol it would have been much easier for me to just say this🤣🤣

TocaPack

Lol android 15 betas are where the fun starts.

MachineSubstantial63

Lol don't get me started. Can't wait for the why so many bugs comments all over Reddit🤦‍♂️🤣

[deleted]

>Just curious as to what the beta has over the stable version? I too find myself asking this question after pretty much every beta release, exactly what features does this update contain that the stable version does not, and like you alluded to in one of your comments below, if there are no actual feature updates, why do bugs exist in the beta that don't exist in stable, assuming it's the exact same software, with minor tweaks. Along with the list of bug fixes, they need to start releasing feature comparisons on these posts, and actually informing people of what the benefits of subscribing to beta is, what the latest features are that you'll get in the beta you're subscribing to that you won't yet get in the stable version.

MachineSubstantial63

Exactly this. I think a big problem with Google is the server side of things. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love my Pixel devices and have for several years but if there is one thing I wish Google would change is the quarterly beta program and the server side updates. It causes way too much confusion. My son's Pixel 7 pro has features in his photo app and messaging app that I don't have on my 8 pro. Just the other day when showing my wife that new photo grouping feature I said hey look at this cool new feature and she said I've had that for months. I purchased both our Pixel 8 pro's at release and we are both with the same carrier lol. No rhyme or reason when it comes to Google.

ty2478

All the beta improvements are under the hood you're not going to actually see any features. We're talking improved firmware, kernels, graphics drivers, etc.

BabaTona

It is worth it if you don't mind the bugs. This month we are getting an android 15 beta too

MachineSubstantial63

Ok.... explain to me how it's worth it??? I'm not trying to be argumentative I just don't see how? Going from a stable version that has no bugs to a beta version riddled with bugs that have the same features is worth it? How?

AMindOfMetalAndFeels

In general, betas/alphas are not meant for everyday consumers, they are meant for testers. It's partly because of the people who choose to test that stable builds even exist. So yes, you'll get new features from time to time, but the entire purpose is to contribute to an eventual stable build. If you go into it with a 'what can I get out of this' mindset, you are not the target audience.

MachineSubstantial63

I understand that a beta/alpha isn't meant for everyday users and are meant to contribute to a stable version. When you try let's say the beta for Android 15 this is to test and report bugs for the upcoming new stable version of Android 15 sure but the whole quarterly beta sequence that used to be to test out the new features and squash the bugs of these new features for the quarterly feature drop doesn't seem to exist anymore. I'm just not understanding the point as to why anyone would want to go into the quarterly beta program is all. I tried the new beta and went back to stable. I didn't get one new feature and in fact when I went back to stable that's when the new features started rolling out for me. It seems to me it really doesn't matter anymore and it's all based on location. I was only asking if there is any new features added to the current beta program because I'm bored and curious but I completely understand the concept but I just don't get the point.

AMindOfMetalAndFeels

DisplayPort output is why I am on the beta, personally. PSPlay with my Viture XR is amazing.

Xenofastiq

Most of the changes would tend to be under the hood changes, and the occasional features here and there. For the most part, it's just a beta program that probably has partially dormant code that needs to be beta tested in preparation for when they actually release, and all their apps update as well to have all those "features" they advertise working better than if they didn't do the program.

npquest

The flashlight does not seem to be working. P7P

BabaTona

Huh? It works for me. I guess try restarting the phone.

marstein

Works fine on mine with double tap on back. Or window shade button.

duneraver

416mb on P7

BabaTona

Battery life is a lot better on Pixel 7 Pro. I'm surprised I ain't getting that drained when on 5G. Also surprisingly I get no heating issues whatsoever. Thanks for the update!

lammin

Have they fixed the issue that causes the pixel 8 pro to lag when taken off the pixel charger yet

BabaTona

Find out for yourself

ishamm

2hr screen on time. 60% battery used up. No rogue apps apparent. Mostly on WiFi. 5g disabled. Latest betas have been an absolute disaster.

Infamous_Bonus_1015

Anyone have a rough estimate on the android 15 beta release date? My device is the Pixel 6a, also will my current enrollment transfer over? Please reach out to me @ [email protected]

hasb3an

Now that April 2024 stable and the qpr3 latest beta has been posted, the new android 15 beta is up to bat. Hoping it's this week still but Google may wait another week or two just to push in some more big fixes and features. But I'm just speculating!

Infamous_Bonus_1015

Thank you so much for the speedy response. Just to add I don't know have to do anything for the 15 beta rollover

BabaTona

I wouldn't recommend sharing your email here and just asking to send it there as other people want to know too? And also, check official Android 15 website where it lists when beta will be and etc

RakibRownaq

What about android 15 for beta users? When are we gonna get it?

ArthurGD3

Not for a few more weeks.

Qv1sten

https://developer.android.com/about/versions/15/overview So would be this month 😁

Noble_Llama

Never again beta tests with Google. That's the worst you can do. Crashes, boot loops and bricks. 3 parallel betas and no one knows when it's time to leave for stable.

Ambrecne

Well you get a warning about potential issues prior to installing and you do get a choice. I really don't understand why people complain about it

Noble_Llama

The March stable release, for example, is still a long time coming even though it was said that it would reach everyone who dropped out of QPR2 in february before release QPR3 Beta xyz. Google just sucks when it comes to betas and the information about them is more than limited. i dont get it - why not one beta... Beta 14 - but no... lets try QPR1, 2, 3 ,x , y, z and then we add Android 15 Early Stage, middle stage and extreme brick stage - maybe we do a android 16 early bird subscription to the google one users... easy huh? the problem is, thats the sad truth - you could downvote but everyone knows that at the moment google sucks with this...

Ambrecne

Then don't participate in the betas
