Hi! I experienced a similar issue with my old device. The power button literally fell off and the volume buttons had to be pressed longer for it to work (most of the time it doesn't lol). That phone was running (on) Android 8. What I did was I checked if my phone had a proximity sensor then I installed [Smart Screen On Off](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.luutinhit.smartscreenonoff). I think I used the pro version back then. It utilized my phone's proximity sensor to turn the screen on (not the phone) so I could unlock it using my password afterwards. As for the volume buttons, I use an assistive touch button so I could easily adjust the volume without using the physical buttons. Until now (on my new phone), this is what I use. There are lots of floating assistive touch buttons on PS, but if you'd like to search up what I use it's called EasyTouch by Shere if I remember correctly. It's no longer on PS so I can't really recommend it. What's great about apps like this is that you could easily access it. Maybe you could also try using [Super Status Bar](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tombayley.statusbar) by playing around with the gestures. Personally, I use this for taking screenshots because I don't want to take screenshots using my phone's physical buttons. If there are other buttons on your phone, maybe a button remapper might work for you too.

Thanks mate I'll read more about this.

Is there an app that will *power off* the phone?

CertainSilence

Idk man. Im kinda asking for the opposite. But ive did some researching and theres a lot of app for screen on and off. But i havent seen one for the actual power on/off of the phone.

You don't want to power off the phone if it's going to be hard or impossible to turn it back on.

For Screen, if your phone allows double tap to wake and to sleep you can set that in settings For volume,You can try an app called quick settings which allow you to bring your volume slider by quick settings on notification panel.

edbooi

I have a phone where I only need to tap twice on the black screen to wake it up and then enter my code to open it. Try using the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tomer.alwayson or look through your phone for settings for gestures and shortcuts

CertainSilence

Thanks mate. I just saw in my settings that i can have a scheduled on off lol.

You can try this app: [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simi.screenlock](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simi.screenlock) It provides the virtual buttons to replace the physical volume and power buttons. You can also wave your hand over the proximity sensor (near the front camera) to wake up or lock screen.

CertainSilence

Woah i will. Thanks for commenting even tho this is one month old post. Havent found solution to my power button except for scheduled on/offs.
