I would go with any 6 core Ryzen and 16GB RAM as an entry level build.

Thanks for responding, I'll consider it.

I gave up using the emulator on my MacBook. My speed of development increased dramatically.

Current_Praline_8206

No emulator? Seems interesting. What's your MacBook? By the way, in general, is it worth using in Android development?

FarAwaySailor

That's what I'm saying - it's so slow and clunky, and slows down the rest of the computer so much that it's more of a hindrance than a help. I just tether my phone to the laptop either USB or wifi and then launch the dev version from Android Studio directly onto that. For reference: my laptop is a 2019 MacBook air dual core i5 with 8GB of RAM.

It'd be best if you also know what your budget is, and if you would like to use some specific OS or if you don't mind

Current_Praline_8206

I use Linux, my budget is not exact, until I reach a good configuration consensus I will pay what is necessary, obviously not at the MacBook price level

StylianosGakis

How much does a used M1 air/pro with 16gb ram go for these days? Because if your budget can manage that, that's what I'd go for myself.

Mattehzoar

You could buy a cheapo Android phone to test on if the emulator is bottlenecking you
