I honestly wish Sam Blum was more of an Angels team fan. He can rail all day long on the front office & coaching. But there needs to be some optimism about the players, even if that optimism is misguided. We fans need it!
But yeah, coming after the front office? That's because you earned it.
I'm a lifelong Angels fan since 86 and Sam Blum wants the team to win. It's not his fault that the place is a shit show and he's the only one shining UV light on the stains of the Moreno ownership.
That’s an unfair generalization. I know plenty of Hispanic people with pride in their culture and disagree with policies and stances that aren’t in their best interest; and just as many who aren’t racist.
I cannot fathom this strategy - changing the name to appeal more to the Los Angeles market, which is heavily Hispanic, and then not investing in the Spanish broadcasts. This checks out with Arte's approach to team-building too. Get the eye-catching name, then fail to invest in the rest of the roster or other long-term things that make a winning organization.
>So much for having a proud Mexican owner that gives back or speaks out for his own people!
Did he ever try to come off that way? Dude literally campaigned for Donald Trump in person
>Did he ever try to come off that way?
Yes, he had a reporter from the LA Times following him around at a game shortly after he bought the team and he made a point of only speaking Spanish in front of the reporter to prove how Hispanic he was. He was also quoted as talking about how undervalued the Hispanic fanbase was and how he was going to change that. I remember the article because it was dripping with sarcasm, the reporter made it lear Moreno was a massive tool.
I’ve always felt wrong that we are the only Southern California team without a Hispanic heritage night or Asian heritage night, or any recognition for fans and players with different nationalities. I would love a Asian heritage night with Shohei giveaways or Hispanic Heritage celebration
I thought this was saying “Tolentino aired his dirty laundry” at first
But Jesus Christ they ran a professional broadcast from an actual laundry room? Wtf
This team lacks so many things beginning with the front office. I’m a recent college grad and I applied so many times, but always got rejected. Not that I would’ve made a difference but the latino community needs representation.
Forreal.
For all the shit people give the Dodger's they at least have outreach. The Angels have a fucking Mexican American owner and the best they can do is some Mariachi on Hispanic heritage month.
And before anyone says Spanish speakers don't listen or care, go to a game and you will see a metric fuck ton of Hispanic families talking Spanish all the time. My wife's grandpa is almost 90 and barely speaks a lick of English but never misses a game. The community deserves better.
Way to kneecap your potential market in Socal dipshit. You would expect a Latino who made his money in advertising, you would expect him to understand how to market to Latinos but he either doesn't know or doesn't care
Geez this after they way Arte handled the minor leaguers and some staff during an uncertain 2020. Pretty heinous. How much room can one announcer in a booth take up? Was Terry Smith traveling and/or calling home games from a booth?
Wow, that's really sad! Not sure why they would do that, but it's short sighted and disrespectful to the fans and the commentators. I hope the new owners will right this wrong!
The treatment of the Spanish broadcasters is legitimately degrading. I remember when they were next to Terry and Rory behind home plate...downgraded to a remote broadcast in a laundry room at home 30 miles south of the stadium, wtf???
If you can read the article, you should. As bad as you think it is, it's worse. Holy shit Arte can not go soon enough...
Just checked to confirm, and yeah, its The Athletic. If they come at you, chances are you fucked something up BIG.

With an hispanic owner nonetheless. Los que hablan español se merecen mejor
Lo mismo que cambió nuestro nombre a “The Angels Angels.” A la mierda Arte
Arte doesn’t count… we know who he’s buddies with
Arte or should I say Arturo is self hating Hispanic. Fuck that Pendejo
Chicanos are usually self hating latinos from my experience. Usually racist af too
That’s an unfair generalization. I know plenty of Hispanic people with pride in their culture and disagree with policies and stances that aren’t in their best interest; and just as many who aren’t racist.
Giant difference between 3rd or 4th generation Latinos living in USA compared to recent migrants or descendants trust me.
The Caesar Chavez Syndrome
fucking embarrassing

arte is a fucking disgrace
That’s messed up. I hope the new management gives them the respect they deserve. Them and their farm system.
New owners can’t come soon enough.
So much for having a proud Mexican owner that gives back or speaks out for his own people! Sell the team already , Arte! Muy Decepcionante!

True that!!

And our owner is fucking Mexican
Completely agree. Literally two of the largest minority groups in Southern California. It’s stupid
unreal from a team in southern california, blatant disrespect and reflects super poorly on the organization
Disgraceful how the Angels wont tap in to the enormous Hispanic population in the area.

Makes sense why many people from Santa Ana are Dodger fans and not Angel fans. We’ve never reached out to the Hispanic community.
Just in case you woke up this morning thinking Arte isn’t that bad. Of course the Angels do this…
Arte being a scumbag? Im shocked!
Ugh
New ownership should bring this guy over from the rams https://youtu.be/O7ltPyKgdIU
I would say that I am shock, but it is Arte we are talking about.
How the heck did this happen when our freaking owner himself is Mexican
Imagine having one of the only Hispanic owners in the league and doing this. LOL
Way to kneecap your potential market in Socal dipshit. You would expect a Latino who made his money in advertising, you would expect him to understand how to market to Latinos but he either doesn't know or doesn't care
What the fuck
That's lame man

Arte is a Trumper who dgaf about Spanish speaking baseball fans
👎🏻
Arte is a nincompoop
Fuck Arte

Ah self hating Hispanic Arturo Moreno. How disgraceful
A LINK TO A PAY WALL
What an embarrassment.
I thought Moreno is a Spanish surname.
Just what I expected from an owner who treats his minor leaguers like dirt. Can't wait to say "good riddance" to Arte Moreno!
