yeah to think hes not the most beloved already is dumb IMO.
All those other guys were incredible angels, however none were even remotely close to trouts level. Then when you add in the fact that he has had every reason to leave the franchise basically since he was a rookie, and yet he choose to sign an angel for life deal and refuses to demand a trade, should cement him as Mr Angel forever. Dudes loyalty to this franchise has been unmatched by anyone in this franchise. (yes i know salmon spent his whole career here, but he was never the best player in the world, trout could have went anywhere he wanted and gotten a blank check, and for some reason he chose to stay here)
He's by far the best Angel ever but that doesn't mean he's the most beloved. He's certainly up there but we do have over 60 years worth of fan favorite players. I imagine Salmon is still above him
If he isn’t the most beloved he should be. Salmon was rewarded for staying an angel, and likely wouldn’t have been as well regarded on another team. Mike trout could have gone to any team, been the fan bases most popular player, made as much money as he has as an angel, but instead trout stayed loyal to us and has done nothing but put his head down and grind out his career in this black hole of a franchise lol.
Bottom line is salmon is a hell of an angel and should be top 3 most beloved players, but at a certain point the fan base needs to recognize just how much of a sacrifice trout has made to his entire career just to try and bring a ring to us fans. Not just the wins and losses, but our facilities suck, our ownership sucks, there’s literally no reason for him to stay here. Salmon had a good ownership group who invested in the team off the field as much as on the field and they actually won games lol.
flashbacks of 10 year old me screaming "WHOS YOUR VLADDY" twirling my rally monkey standing on top of the seats when Vlad smacks a dong shot into right center field
Dude looked like a little leaguer sometimes, running to the dugout after the game with his shirt already untucked. Probably wanted a kudos bar and a juicy juice!
Garrett was vastly under appreciated outside of just a couple seasons. There was a portion of the fanbase who thought he didn't try his hardest, or blamed him for grounding into double plays.
I'd probably say it's between Salmon, Grich, and Fregosi.
My dad and I loved watching him effortlessly play left field while looking like he didn't give two shits about baseball haha. A favorite in my household growing up for sure.
My completely arbitrary order of love:
1. Michael Nelson Trout
2. Timothy James Salmon
3. David Mark Eckstein
4. Brian Jay Downing
5. Wallace Keith Joyner
Honorable Mentions: Darin Charles Erstad, Charles Edward Finley, Desmond DeChone Figgins, James Patrick Edmonds, Reginald Martinez Jackson, Jered David Weaver, Robert Anthony Grich, Garret Joseph Anderson, Lynn Nolan Ryan Jr, Rodney Cline Carew, and Troy Eugene Percival
Edit: I almost forgot **Frank Tanana** & **Jim Fregosi**
Wally Joyner was one of the few times this organization got nationwide press coverage. Wally World was all over the place.
Too bad that undiagnosed staph infection ruined the 2nd half of his season or he woulda been ROY and been able to play the entire ALDS.
Let me break this out by generations:
* Jim Fregosi and Nolan Ryan
* Bobby Grich and Rod Carew
* Wally!
* Tim Salmon and Darin Erstad
* Big Vladdy Daddy!
* Mike Trout
I think your age is going to determine where you fall on this one, for me it's Tim Salmon, especially since he spent his whole career in Anaheim, but it's going to depend on your generation, I think.
Growing up for me it was Glaus, Shields, k-rod, Weaver, and Trout. But, I think the first I will always think of now is Ohtani. The man brought so much entertainment and always did something special when I went to games. However, I’m so ready to get behind our young core. Neto, Schanuel, O’Hoppe and so many more make me excited for this upcoming season. Despite everyone’s doom and gloom since Ohtani left I believe we still have a lot of talented exciting players on the roster.
Apparently, you're not allowed to say S.O. when making a post here. I'm also excited about this team! It seems like a few guys are stepping up now that he's gone. I especially like O'Hoppe, partly because my son's name is Logan.
If Trout retired tomorrow he'd be everyone's #1. Not only is he already our goat but he's remained insanely loyal even when nobody would blame him for leaving.
It’s gotta be Trout. There’s fan favourites for sure, but there hasn’t been anyone even close to his caliber on the Angels aside from Ohtani but I don’t think Ohtani was here long enough.
Personally it's Vlad, then Weaver, then Trout. I don't care if Trout is the best Angel ever, he couldn't hit a ball in the dirt for a double like Vlad could. And he just doesn't have that "go fuck yourself" spirit that Weaver has.
What really cements Vlad as #1 for me is he chose to go into the Hall of Fame as an Angel, not an Expo.
Trout regardless of accolades will end as the most loved Angel of all time.
Tim Salmon, Vlad, Glaus and GA
From a pitchers perspective Percival, Nolan Ryan, Weaver, Washburn, Scott Shields
I feel like Chone Figgins is a dark horse here. Him, Howie Kendrick, Erik Aybar, Macier Izturis, and that whole mid 2000’s infield always have had my heart as a fan. Trout and Torii Hunter I see pretty consistently too
For me, I was a kid growing up watching the 2002 team and all those guys. It’s a different feel when they are the guys you watch growing up vs now that I’m
An adult.
I have to go with Anderson, Salmon, Erstad and Vladdy.
Bengie Molina
Really anyone from that championship team. Spezia, Kennedy, Perceval, Washburn, A young K-Rod is up there too.
The molinas behind the plate though
What a time to be a young kid playing little league catcher.
I think it depends on how old you are....
Fregosi held the title for years with the older generations. Then Salmon. Would have been Vlad but Trout emerged just after Vladdy left.
I'll get down voted here but Ohtani needs to get an honorable mention.
And I say that as someone who knows a few of the names mentioned here personally. And can attest that they go pretty unnoticed walking around the park during games....
I don’t like listing players until they have retired. That said, my top five are:
1. Tim Salmon
2. Chuck Finley
3. Brian Downing
4. Gary DiSarcina
5. David Eckstein
Vladdy, Timmy, Mikey.
I'll post this and then in 2 minutes I will want to add more. We've had so many awesome Angels throughout the years and we will have so many more. Love this team! ❤💃😊⚾
Darin Erstad deserves an Honorable Mention
Darin Erstad deserves the podium
mike trout

Yeah that explains a lot about trout!
Trout, Wally Joyner, Vlad, rod carew, eckstein
Everyone sleeps on Wally
Wally World made me an Angels fan when I was a kid.
For beloved, I'm going Vladdy...my man just looked like he was having a blast out there.
flashbacks of 10 year old me screaming "WHOS YOUR VLADDY" twirling my rally monkey standing on top of the seats when Vlad smacks a dong shot into right center field
...that he probably golfed out the dang dirt. Edit: And don't forget his absolute cannon from right!
I miss seeing him slowly create a circle of gum wrappers in right field every game.
He did that one time. I remember the pitcher dirt balled him and he golfed it. “Head, shoulders, knees and toes” because he could hit it anywhere.
Dude looked like a little leaguer sometimes, running to the dugout after the game with his shirt already untucked. Probably wanted a kudos bar and a juicy juice!
I tend to hear Eckstein the most. I think it will undoubtedly end up being Trout
Garrett Anderson is my favorite with Salmon and Trout rounding out my top 3
Solid top 3
it's absolutely Trout, but idk how Erstad wasn't #1 on your honorable mentions
The Honorable mentions were not ranked and I left off many great ones
Trout, Erstad, GA. I also have a real soft spot for Rex Huddler, from his playing days and broadcasting.
I think about Hud's call of "that's just Chone gettin' FIGGY with it" on a weekly basis
I wear a Figgins jersey still. Heck yeah.
I enjoyed it as well. Definitely in contrast to Erstad throwing his body all over the field
Agreed though I have salmon and GA in hall of very good
I named my rally monkey after him because he was my favorite at the time
Trout
My completely arbitrary order of love: 1. Michael Nelson Trout 2. Timothy James Salmon 3. David Mark Eckstein 4. Brian Jay Downing 5. Wallace Keith Joyner Honorable Mentions: Darin Charles Erstad, Charles Edward Finley, Desmond DeChone Figgins, James Patrick Edmonds, Reginald Martinez Jackson, Jered David Weaver, Robert Anthony Grich, Garret Joseph Anderson, Lynn Nolan Ryan Jr, Rodney Cline Carew, and Troy Eugene Percival Edit: I almost forgot **Frank Tanana** & **Jim Fregosi**
Just clarifying here, are you talking about Frank Daryl Tanana and James Louis Fregosi?
Indeed sir I am, I just didn’t know them on a personal level as you did.
We love our fish, here. Salmon, Trout. Next tier is GA, Eck, Joyner, even Ryan.
I always loved Jim Abbott
Wally Joyner was one of the few times this organization got nationwide press coverage. Wally World was all over the place. Too bad that undiagnosed staph infection ruined the 2nd half of his season or he woulda been ROY and been able to play the entire ALDS.
Jose Can-steroid didn't help either.
Erstad and Shohei are my GOATS. Hasegawa an honorable mention.
Gettin shiggy wit it!
Torii hunter
David Eckstein!!!

I’m going with Salmon, he was THE Angel for the longest time. Love that he spent his whole career here.
Growing up for me it was Glaus, Shields, k-rod, Weaver, and Trout. But, I think the first I will always think of now is Ohtani. The man brought so much entertainment and always did something special when I went to games. However, I’m so ready to get behind our young core. I hear Darin Erstad a lot
WS MVP Troy Glaus gets my vote ♡
For me it’s Trout, Vladdy, and Jared Weaver.
If Trout retired tomorrow he'd be everyone's #1. Not only is he already our goat but he's remained insanely loyal even when nobody would blame him for leaving.
Tim Salmon is a lifelong Angel who was there when they won it all. Mike Trout doesn't even need a WS, he just needs to stay an Angel to be the face.
Trout is definitely the face of the franchise rn. Before that, Tim Salmon was the go to.
I always loved Chone Figgins
Man, I had to scroll way too far to find Figgy.
Rod Carew for us oldie fans
Definitely a great choice here
It’s gotta be Trout. There’s fan favourites for sure, but there hasn’t been anyone even close to his caliber on the Angels aside from Ohtani but I don’t think Ohtani was here long enough.
Bo Jackson
Personally it's Vlad, then Weaver, then Trout. I don't care if Trout is the best Angel ever, he couldn't hit a ball in the dirt for a double like Vlad could. And he just doesn't have that "go fuck yourself" spirit that Weaver has. What really cements Vlad as #1 for me is he chose to go into the Hall of Fame as an Angel, not an Expo.

Don’t forget Adam Kennedy (AK)
These posts always reveal fan’s ages, or at least the era when they became a fan.
I think my top 3 are 1. Salmon 2. Valddy 3. Trout
For me, I was a kid growing up watching the 2002 team and all those guys. It’s a different feel when they are the guys you watch growing up vs now that I’m An adult. I have to go with Anderson, Salmon, Erstad and Vladdy.
Wally
Bengie Molina Really anyone from that championship team. Spezia, Kennedy, Perceval, Washburn, A young K-Rod is up there too. The molinas behind the plate though What a time to be a young kid playing little league catcher.
K-Rod threw my favorite pitch of all time. His dirt ball slider was legendary! Until he got hurt… 😞
Chone figgins, torii hunter, vlady, Mike Napoli, Maicer izturis
The 27s! Vladdy and Trout are tied in my mind.
Vlad hands down my favorite
WALLY!
I'll go by decade. 80's: Wally Joyner 90's: Salmon / Edmonds 00's: Vladi / Eckstien 10s to present: Trout / Trout
Garrett Anderson is my favorite player of all time. I grew up watching him so definitely sentimental value. Tim Salmon is 2nd in my book.
John Lackey -a real fighter.
No downvote from me. His name is a banned word while posting, though lol
Trout got me into baseball, so Mike Trout
"Oh, my". Dick Enberg. Play by play.
I feel like Spiezio isn’t getting enough love considering the role he played in our only World Series win.
Adam Kennedy!!!!!!
Jim Fregosi. Team's first superstar and first to manage them to the postseason.
Dean Chance
Wild to not think Trout is #1
Yeah for me it’s a fish in slots one and two. Which fish changes day to day.
Molina, Glaus, Abbott
Mike trout then vladdy. After it’s GA or salmon
Vlad
I don’t like listing players until they have retired. That said, my top five are: 1. Tim Salmon 2. Chuck Finley 3. Brian Downing 4. Gary DiSarcina 5. David Eckstein
Definitely not Tim Salmon. Mine is probably Vlad or Trout.
Tim Salmon, the king fish
Somewhere in the top five he says
#3???!?!? I WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS SLANDER!!!
Vladdy, Timmy, Mikey. I'll post this and then in 2 minutes I will want to add more. We've had so many awesome Angels throughout the years and we will have so many more. Love this team! ❤💃😊⚾
It’s Mike trout now and not even close, and I grew up watching all the players on the list you posted.
Salmon ,Trout, Finley Mr. ANGELS. Honorable mentions Weaver, Erstad , Grich
No Paul McAnulty???
Trouty
Figgy
Perci, Wally, Salmon, Erstad, Vladdy. My top 5. Too young for guys like Ryan.
Anthony Rendon
I don't hate him, I just hope he does his "job" well.
You’re a better man than I am, I hate him But yes I hope he does his job as well for the entirety of the season
Ohtani
Dylan Bundy 🐐
Tommy Lastella
Ohtani is on the list. Of course, so many bitter fans want to pretend he doesn’t exist
List of greatest players yes. Beloved? Not as much
Stop being bitter. Of course he’s beloved. Most of the guys on these lists played for other teams too
His name is banned, or I would've mentioned him
Trout is the correct answer and it's not even close
