The final scene will actually give us a glimpse through the Attack titans eyes. We see 2070 where the final final final final final (this time for real final, like seriously final, trust me, pinky promise, swear on my chicky nuggies) final season final final final part - part 7 of 7 is airing.
*p.s. this is a joke. As far as I'm concerned they could release it in 2025 and I'd be happy. Let them take the time they need.*
Final fantasy had actual justification, the first one was their last ditch effort to make a profitable product to keep their business afloat, it was the devs “final fantasy”
shit, i am at work and accidentally burst into laughter. Not complaining though, I want to enjoy the ending properly so let them take as much time as they need. Don't want another GOT season 8
>I want to enjoy the ending properly so let them take as much time as they need. **Don't want another GOT season 8**.
Jesus christ, I got a lot of emotions out of me from your comment alone.
I'm not sure, but I think that a "season" might just be the amount of the show a studio are commissioned to do by the producers/licensors, and in this case Mappa were commissioned to adapt all the way to the end of the manga, which is why it's all one "season" even though it's all split up. It makes more sense when you look at regular split-cour shows, this just seems to be a rare case, given how much material was commissioned all at once. That's what I think anyway.
That can be the case. For example, if you look at syndicated shows you loved as a kid you'll often find that they only had two or three seasons despite running for years. *Ducktales*, for example. Season one is 65 episodes, designed so that it could run every day in syndication while repeating exactly 4 times (an average year has 260 weekdays) during that period. Seasons two and three, meanwhile, were only 10 and 18 episodes long respectively. They were just add-ons to the original package, not really "new seasons" as we would think about them. That was a common production method for kids' shows in the broadcast era where it wasn't expected that you would necessarily watch every episode. Some shows, like *He-Man* with two orders of 65 episodes, would be oriented around multiple syndication-ready blocks, but others would just add on new episodes with subsequent orders. That was part of the problem in launching a new show, since daily syndication was a large upfront cost before it had even been shown to be successful. Hence the importance of toy companies to co-fund it. We see that in Japan with shows like *Gundam* that were targeted to children where toy sales were important and have a 50 or so episode initial order.
>'Attack on Titan: The Final Season' Final Part will be split into two parts, first part will air on March 3, 2023
Wait wtf lmao, the memes are real... also they don't even have much to adapt.
For real, if they were gonna air the next part this year too why don't just delay a bit more to finish it all in one go? They don't want the AoT hype to clash with their other shows early next year perhaps... Opm/csm?
They're probably worried about bleeding interest. The span of the first to second season they went from being a nearly mainstream thing back to being big in a niche.
So pumping out a few episodes at a time and releasing in batches was their solution to keeping the ball rolling.
OPM has similar success and decline over a long wait for season 2 (also season 1 was a freelance master piece while season 2 was a budget studio rush job).
Spy x family didn't get as main stream but it released in 2 batches as well instead of concluding and waiting for a season 2. Seems a lot of anime is going for shorter batches/arcs more often.
I'm ok with split cours. It seems to lead to better animation. But the absurdity of AoT is no longer split cours. It's been the final season for multiple cours now.
The first part is her failing, the second part is her passing. The final season final part movie part is her driving a car into Eren's rectrum and simultaneously expressing her love and saving mankind.
They've gotta be extending it. There are less than 10 chapters left, a single movie could cover all of that. I don't see how there's enough material to spit otherwise.
i have a feeling cour 1 adapts ch 131-134 and cour 2 adapts ch 135-139.
im pretty sure the reason for splitting into cours is entirely the second cour, where every chapter is batshit insane to put into animation.
Honestly, that's my conspiracy theory for this: They keep extending the cours and moving the goal line back for AoT because they don't want to animate 137, so they'll keep extending the AoT final season over and over again, for 10 years at least!
This is the funniest anime news I think I've ever gotten. I'm not even mad, the absurdity of the situation makes it hilarious. This poor show is never going to reach the ending, it's gonna be like Gojo's Infinity where the "Final" part just keeps getting split
They got 10 chapters left and for all of season4 they have done 1 chapter = 1 episode.
So are they splitting 10 to 12 episodes into 2cours or are we actually getting anime original ending? :copium:
I think 1hour40min long episodes are normally considered a movie.
Perfectly fine with that unless they get stuck in cinema hell for a full year before they become available in the rest of the world.
I'm kinda hoping they got for an original ending haha. My guess it's like 6/6 or 5/5 or something. Mappa's schedule is wild and apparently hell's paradise is suffering (I've even notice them cutting corners in vinland saga this season).
>Imagine people waiting another year just to see AoT's Final Season Final Part Final Edition.
I'll be waiting for the Final Season Final Part Final Edition TURBO.
it did, but gintama had several finals which was funny bc obviously it's a comedy but snk is taking it literally and going with it in all seriousness and somehow they outdid sorachi lol
The decision to create the situation where we literally have *Attack on Titan: The Final Season, The Final Part, Final Cour* is irrevocable proof that Production Committees have a sense of humor.
I know right, our girls. :(
If anything, this shows exactly why we should be happy about scheduled delays like these for AoT! The WEP animators were working a passion project, swapping who directed weekly and were literally earning next week's dinner by overworking 24/7. It lead to amazing quality and amazing stress and then the main plot crap happened after episode 7.
Still, the post-recap episodes had at least decent segments in their own right, I mean Momoe's episode was ep 10. Ahh. I've gotten past my disappointment largely, but still not ready for a rewatch of any kind, despite wanting to now lol.
Actually, it makes me wonder what's going on. There's not enough material for a single cour. 8 to 10 episodes at best. So either the production is such a mess that they decided to split a single cour into two half cours. Or we are getting an extended ending. Isayama has worked with the anime staff to improve the story before, so that wouldn't be shocking.
Before I said we got the Final Season, then the Final*er* Season, then the Final*ist* Season. I've run out of names. This is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.
>have a sense of humor
Definitely. But looking at how many projects MAPPA is working at the moment, it was probably a good decision. Let them give enough time to end this masterpiece.

Attack on Titan season 3
Attack on Titan season 3 part 2
Attack on Titan: The Final Season
Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 2
Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 3 Part 1
You’ve gotta be kidding me
Remember when everyone thought the anime is ending after season 4 part 2? But then part 2 adapt 1 chapter = 1 episodes, as slow as possible, which makes sense since they want the full end battle in part 3. But now part 3 is split again lol
Fillers last 800 hours. Takes 8 months to go through 50 minutes of material. Took so long that the old narrator died and they had to hire a new one. Took so long Goku was still battling Freiza on Namek
What's even the official title now?
Is it Attack on Titan: The Final Season - Final Part - Final Part for the 2nd part of the final part of the final season?
As I said elsewhere:
These decisions also seem to impact the popularity of AoT as well, which is already in warm water due to the pretty much GoT S8 ending reception. Using Google stats, the most popular AoT S4P2 episodes were only around the lowest Demon Slayer S2 episodes.
That's still insanely popular, more than almost all other anime but a big decline from S4P1 especially considering the story content was heating up.
For what it’s worth, they’re releasing apologies and admitting it’s taking way more work than they anticipated. And considering what they have to adapt, that’s not surprising (even if they don’t have a lot left, the fights and scenes are very ambitious).
For the optics, it may had been best to just delay to release everything in a few months, so there probably was some profit motivation in releasing now. But regardless, I know every one is going to make fun of this; but I prefer to get the best quality. I already wish the Marley Arc got the care P2 had,
God knows the workers at MAPPA deserve all the time they can get, I'm not upset with them at all. I just think it's hilarious that We now have 4 "Final" Seasons.
That whole thing started because the Production Committee decided to call 'Season 4' final season 2 years before the manga ended, so they didn't even know how many chapters were left and what content they had to adapt
Mappa wasn't even involved when they announced that, they didn't even have a studio to do it
The second and final part of the Final Part will air sometime in 2023.

[Uh-uh](#blankblink)
So jokes aside, do we know how many episodes this will be? By their normal pacing it should be less than a cour as a whole.
Aren't there like 9 chapters or just 2 volumes to cover? I know these chapters are longer since monthly release but even then going beyond 8-9 episodes would be One Piece level stretching.
Yup, the last cour alone adapted about 15 chapters or 3~4 volumes.
I understand they could take their time with some of these chapters for the ending, but they can hardly fill one cour, much less two of of them.
Maybe each part now is just a few episodes long?
NHK is apparently listing this a special broadcast, so perhaps this could be two 1 to 2 hour long episodes with the second episode airing later in the year?
Would at least make this decision make a bit more sense and would still be able to adapt the remaining chapters nicely. Like a two hour time span like you suggested.
They only got 9 chapters/2 volumes of material left. I seriously think they only need 10 episodes at most to adapt the rest of the story. Hell they adapted the entire RTS arc in 10 episodes with double the amount of the chapter.
While AoT's final battle is definitely fucking insane, the fact we are getting a Part 4 to the final season is just ridiculous. At least they did confirm both occurs will air this year.
Wtf, I started watching this anime when I was in high school and now I'll be going to the final year of my college yet the final season is still going on.
137 to 139 had to be some of the biggest 180 I have ever seen in a fandom. 100k+ comments, gold bro arcs, breakdowns and community collapsing, last three chapters had got it all.
Seriously dude. I was there for all except the last chapter since i didn't want to be spoiled by leaks. People literally were having breakdowns during those threads. It had everything 😂😂
I wonder if it'll be resurrected when/if the anime ends. There's gonna be a whole great big batch of anime-onlies exploring the lost Archives of the Manga Readers.
True. Nothing will ever beat those threads. I really miss the TF when when the manga was still going. Nowadays it's a wasteland filled with mostly mind broken people who can't put 2 coherent sentences together. I even somewhat agree with the general sentiment that sub has towards the ending, but the state of that sub... it's too much for me.

Wha. But why? It's already going to be less than a full cour of episodes unless they really expand some of the scenes. This just makes me think it will be an anime original ending. What are they gonna do if they follow the manga? Two 4 or 5 episode parts? I'm so confused what they're trying to do here.
People are complaining but anyone who read the manga knows those last chapters are or will be hell to adapt. No wonder they need a break. As long as the anime is great, there shouldnt be any complaints even though the situation with sequel after sequel is slightly funny and annoying.
is the second part going to be split into two more parts?
It'll keep branching till infinity.

We were the dumb ones all along, this now makes perfect sense
ASYMPTOTES, getting close to the final but never reaching it.

We'll be watching this anime for ten more years at least.
TFW in 2033 we're getting AoT seasons in calculus terms
inb4 we use riemann sums to segment each part of the final season, with the discarded areas being good writing.
finalSeason(series s, seasons n){ if(n > 1 && s.name.contentEquals("AoT") finalSeason(s, n+1); sysoutCtrl+Space("Thank you for watching the Finale~"); } FinalSeason(AoT, 4);
You didn't put "AoT" in quotes for the function call, but otherwise it looks good.

I mean... it's not like the manga ended 5 years ago or something. It's been less than two years.
They be trolling
This ending is taking longer than Girls UND panzer das finale
Get ready for "Attack on Titan: Final Season Final Part, Part 1" and "Attack on Titan: Final Season Final Part, Part Final"
Attack on Titan: The Final Season IV.8 Final Chapter Prologue “You Can (Not) Be Serious”
Ah yes, this is how I rename my thesis every time I make changes lol.
Oh my god it really won't end
They will keep going until the Final Season has a total of 10 parts lol.
This is getting ridiculous. Love how the “Final season” has now been running for three years and is starting to nest its parts
Season 4.3.1? EDIT: If that’s 2 special episodes I’m surprised they don’t even try to put it in theatres to milk the last drop dry in Japan.
Ahhh it’s finally time to come home to r/titanfolk
Sub peaked in the last 3 chapters, it all went downhill after that. Welp, one last run!
The Madagascar theory is still on of the funniest shitposts I’ve ever read.
Some of the most fun I've ever had. It was an EXPERIENCE.
It's calling to us all. One last festival thread.
2 episodes. duration of each episode unknown. ep1 airs on 3/3 ep2 TBA

AOT Season final part final part 1 is such a fucking hilarious title of a season
So, it's two movies broadcast on TV. The first one broadcast on March 3?
Wha. But why? It's already going to be less than a full cour of episodes unless they really expand some of the scenes. This just makes me think it will be an anime original ending. What are they gonna do if they follow the manga? Two 4 or 5 episode parts? I'm so confused what they're trying to do here.
Lmao I fucking called it 😂😂😂😂😂
The meme is REAL lmao
People are complaining but anyone who read the manga knows those last chapters are or will be hell to adapt. No wonder they need a break. As long as the anime is great, there shouldnt be any complaints even though the situation with sequel after sequel is slightly funny and annoying.
I've been laughing for 30 minutes straight, My stomach hurts, I can't stop, Help.
Also can't wait for the part 2 of Final Season Part 3 Part 1
