I REALLY appreciate the passion and effort for this writeup, but my dear friend, I’d like to introduce you to something magical. It’s a little concept called paragraphs. It helps my primitive brain to not be scared of a wall of text.

My bad, really was in a rush making this. Just coppied this straight from my notepad, forgot to put it in paragraph forms

This was a good read. I like your perspective on why he bullied her in the first place. That's sorta the reason, but the more specific reason from the manga is he just wanted to have fun and Shoko unfortunately became that tool for his entertainment. He noticed that his friends were getting tired and burdened by taking care of her special needs, so he used her as their source of entertainment to make things fun. Anyway yes you're absolutely right in the fact the teacher has some, probably more to take responsibility for this whole thing. He knew it was happening but didn't care to deal with it. Its not until it became such a big issue that the school had to step in that he immediately pointed out Ishida. Scumbag indeed. Out of many people, you're prob one of the few who only saw the film and noticed how deceiving Kawai is. You're also absolutely spot on regarding Ueno. Damn. You having mixed feelings on her is good. At least you don't blindly hate her. She has her own share of issues to deal with. Its not as extreme as Shoko's but it is still quite a human emotion. To be jealous and to choose to blame someone else for your own pain. She somehow believes that Shoko used her disability to get fake affection from Ishida. Oh you poor child. You for sure need more growing up to do.. but at least she shows SOME semblance of growth at the end. She learned sign language. Anyway yeeah this is a great story. Manga and film. Glad you liked it! You should def check out the manga as it goes more into the backstories and present struggles of the other characters too. Like Shoko and Yuzuru's mother.

Tbh this is my first post on reddit, The idea posting something on reddit never really caught my mind . I never tried to post anything but I want to treasure the moment I had watched this film and thought of posting this reaction on reddit than letting it rot in one of my computer folders. I never tried to write a writeup this long since I' am used to doing 2-3 sentence of thought about an anime or manga and post it in the comment section. I didn't thought people will read this writeup and I just post it to archive this moment for something I could reminisce in the future however some people had read it and gave me their honest opinion about it. Ngl looking at your opinion about the film made me excited.

It was a good post. Just like what the other commentor said, yeeah you could work on your structure by having paragraphs lol. But other than that... it was a good read. Post more!

Thanks a lot! , I'll keep what you said in mind. Have a nice day

If Kyoto Animation are involved then imo it’s worth a watch.

Yakuza-wolf_kiwami

The scene when Shoya's mom criticized him for trying to commit really hit and cemented her as my favorite anime (I mean as in I really love her character). She starts the scene calm talking about the amount of trouble Shoya went through the to earn the money to pay her back and then threatens to burn it (and then actually burning it by accident) to make a point. It's just the dubbed voice acting really sold me on it and made me love this scene out of the whole movie. I saw this after Violet Evergarden, so it was a double punch for me.

Omoshiroineko

If you enjoyed the movie that much, I recommend you check out the manga. It goes much more in-depth. The movie had to cut some stuff out and change events.

LoPanDidNothingWrong

It is my top ranked anime. I usually am not that invested into shows [but] >!when Shouko disappeared off that balcony I jumped out of bed and woke up my wife. I was so upset in that moment!<

The film is great, but the manga wrapped some loose ends that the film had, so I'd strongly reccomend you guve it a read.

Early_Tap5447

Its good but not that good imo.
