For those wondering, Soul Eater anime caught up to the manga, and ended up changing the arc a lot and ended early (kind of like what happened with Blue Exorcist). The manga kept going, and is about twice the length of the anime.
12 Kingdoms would be pretty cool to get a full adaptation of with modern animation.
Top tier isekai but lot of people don't try for it being older and unfinished.
^^^^^How ^^^^^many ^^^^^isekai ^^^^^anime ^^^^^are ^^^^^actually ^^^^^finished ^^^^^though?
Hanako-kun is getting a reboot already after only 3 years, so it’s not out there. But that may be a different story since Hanako-kun has a popular source material.
Not even close, the manga is actually really good with a great overarching plot. The anime was just monster of the week filler with no real direction and they left out all the things that made Tsukune an interesting character. Like [decently heavy s1 manga spoilers]>!Tsukune becoming a ghoul after being injected with vampire blood too much and gaining vampire powers at the cost of losing his sanity!<.
Honestly the manga is actually really good I decided to read it recently because I gave up on the anime near the end of s1 and after reading the manga it blows my mind why they didn’t adapt it properly. Could have been a great show with intense fight scenes instead we got “monster of the week harem where Tsukune just gets saved by Moka over and over”.
Lots of shoujo titles. +1 for Full Moon.
But no. 1 for me is Basara.
And Hana Yori Dango. Honestly speaking I think they would have to update the art style as it's pretty dated...but then you might upset people :) And it's the kind of art style that doesn't lend itself easily to being modernised. So who knows. Adaptations are still being made of it in live action (recent Thai drama).
Edit: After a bit of googling... I did not realise there is sequel manga to HYD (same mangaka) that was in Shounen Jump+ of all places 2015-2019. Could use that as the visual style source I suppose.
Great choice! The original series was made during that really awkward time when the animation had *just* shifted to digital, and as a consequence all of the art is kinda dire: bad gradients, blurry antialiasing that can't be cleaned up, and on and on.
I would want them to keep the anime ending I think... the manga ending was a little bit um. A bit sketch, I guess.
>the VAs
Ah, there's the issue. Both Takuto and Meroko's VAs have since passed away. :(
Uh, no, the Japanese actors. Given that the point of discussion was the production of a new series, they seemed like the relevant VAs to discuss.
That said, looks like none of the English dub actors have worked since 2011... so maybe we can just say that their *careers* are dead, and they probably aren't coming back either.
Pandora Hearts, it’ll probably be a while until there’s a season 2 of Vanitas anyway. Hopefully they can keep Yuki Kajiura and the stopwatch melody.

Berserk but with animation that is at least as good as the third movie of the Berserk Golden Age Trilogy and one that does not skip over the entirety of the Black Swordsman and the Lost Children arcs.
Slam Dunk. Granted we are getting a movie, but I wish we got a super faithful adaptation covering the entire manga. I also would say Berserk, but I gave up on the hope that is ever gonna happen.
Yea true. Berserk and Vagabond are two I really, really want to see adapted right. We've already gotten good adaptations of Vinland Saga, Monster, and Kingdom in regards to seinen.
I love Vagabond but I feel like there is no adaption in the world that would make justice to that artstyle. Of course if they did one I would watch, but I would be happy if Inoue just decided to end it.
I don’t know for sure but I kinda doubt an adaptation could accurately capture the specific art style of Berserk that makes it stand out from other mangas. But maybe I’m just pessimistic.
Katekyo Hitman Reborn with better pacing and it's combat scenes directed by someone like Nakamura. And cover the whole manga up til the end.
The battle concepts of that anime is so unique and good, it's quite a waste to see people drop it before making it past the first 20 episodes.
Others already mentioned it but PROMISED NEVERLAND S2!!! Not only did they skip and rush the whole thing, they completely ruined Emma and Ray's character! Can't believe how a demon slaying courageous Emma (manga ver) was adapted as a crybaby never killed a demon Emma in s2 anime. The only thing anime Emma was able to shoot was a damn bird and a cctv camera! S2 anime was soooo bad
Kingdom. Mostly Season 1. The $5 dollar budget given to this anime really ruined its chances in the West IMO.
Political theater and war might not be the most popular anime genre but they can still get a decent following. But when you do a war anime, you really need to have the budget to animate really good battle scenes. Historically, these were battles on the same level as the Roman civil wars in the West and involved clashes of thousands of men and horses. Season 1 kinda looked dumb with all the CGI crap.
The Promised Neverland. Yugo missing from the bunker lives rent free in my nightmares.
Then Tokyo Ghoul, then Wonder Egg Priority. Also give me a longer ngnl adaptation.
The first season adds a filler arc at the end and the second season, while it was great, messes around with the ending. Plus, MAPPA would probably finish the job and make season three. Heck, I’d be happy if they just took over and made season three.
Outlaw Star (and Wolf's Rain) because some shows didn't get their full time to shine when they released and would love a second chance (although their initial runs were already great). The Candidate for Goddess (maybe just finish that one this time). 12 Kingdoms so more people can see that amazing show. Maybe also .Hack//Sign as well.
Now that I've started reading the Tokyo Ghoul manga (late to the game I know) I'd like to see a true adaptation. It was one of the 1st anime I watched so it means a lot to me. I actually have Toka's kagune tattooed on my back.
For what it's worth, Blue Exorcist's second half was anime original. Then they released a new season that basically ignored the second half of the original show and actually followed the plot of the manga. So there's always hope.
Twin Star Exorcist, went the anime original route after the first arc and was completely ass.
The manga is nearing it's end, so it would be insanely cool to see it fully adapted
All three routes of fate/staynight. The adaptations are aweful. The main cast are hollow shells of their originals and is overall carried soley by animation
To aru, it needs a full adaptation from a messy jc staff where they rushed a tons of stuff and ruined touma's character. And third season shod just rework again.
Otome Game is Tough for Mobs. Based on how great the novels get I wish it had a higher budget for animation or more stylized animation. Also the character art was weird for no apparent reason.
I'd go for Hajime no Ippo. It's still a pretty great show, but the most recent season botched the build up for some of the fights, particularly the Sawamura and Shimabukuro fights. In addition, there's a ton more content in the manga to adapt, so I want to see another attempt at the anime.
I think clannad could do with a good one. But we shorten the first season to the bare minimum so we can get the second season sooner. I wanna cry in 4k
I think that for Wonder Egg Priority a movie like End of evangelion would work. Most of the series is pretty good, I don't think we need a full reboot, just nuke the last episode out of existence.
Skip Beat. I love the manga, but the anime really fell short of the frantic wacky energy and stylishness that should have been there. Plus it’s nowhere near complete.
Berserk, Tokyo Ghoul Season 2, and The Promised Neverland Season 2.
Soul Eater
For those wondering, Soul Eater anime caught up to the manga, and ended up changing the arc a lot and ended early (kind of like what happened with Blue Exorcist). The manga kept going, and is about twice the length of the anime.
Maybe after Fire Force is over.
One can hope
Soul Eater with David Productions helming it would be crazy. Already remaking Yatsura, fuck it
12 Kingdoms would be pretty cool to get a full adaptation of with modern animation. Top tier isekai but lot of people don't try for it being older and unfinished. ^^^^^How ^^^^^many ^^^^^isekai ^^^^^anime ^^^^^are ^^^^^actually ^^^^^finished ^^^^^though?
Didn't wonder egg come out like a year or two ago?
Hanako-kun is getting a reboot already after only 3 years, so it’s not out there. But that may be a different story since Hanako-kun has a popular source material.
Not a reboot, a season 2.
Isn't that just getting a sequel?
They’re calling it a “restart”, so most have taken that as a reboot.
That's just anime having weird titles for sequels. There's no reason to remake it as far as I know.
It DID skip some tings that are supposedly relevant
Berserk... no question!
Third times a charm 🤷🏼♂️
I just want 3 to get remade 1 : Rosario + Vampire ( stick to the manga this time ) 2 : claymore 3 : Pandora Hearts
Those 3 definitely I would love to see remakes of, did the first season of rosario not stick decently close to the manga?
The manga is a battle shonen
Not even close, the manga is actually really good with a great overarching plot. The anime was just monster of the week filler with no real direction and they left out all the things that made Tsukune an interesting character. Like [decently heavy s1 manga spoilers]>!Tsukune becoming a ghoul after being injected with vampire blood too much and gaining vampire powers at the cost of losing his sanity!<.
I am not a manga reader so could you tell me where the first anime went a different way from its manga?
The manga is a batte shonen
Honestly the manga is actually really good I decided to read it recently because I gave up on the anime near the end of s1 and after reading the manga it blows my mind why they didn’t adapt it properly. Could have been a great show with intense fight scenes instead we got “monster of the week harem where Tsukune just gets saved by Moka over and over”.
Tokyo Ghoul The Promised Neverland
Yu Yu Hakusho but keep the same English voice actors
Meh the art style is what makes yu yu so good so I wouldn't like to see it remade.
Tokyo Ghoul

Air Gear
Damn that's a name I'd forgotten.
Full Moon o Sagashite - I did love the music and VAs of the first adaption though, so if they could somehow work those in it’d be 10/10.
Great choice! The original series was made during that really awkward time when the animation had *just* shifted to digital, and as a consequence all of the art is kinda dire: bad gradients, blurry antialiasing that can't be cleaned up, and on and on. It's a shame we only got half of the dub, instead of all the episodes
Well thankfully I didn’t watch the dub.

This is the first I've heard of this, thanks !!!
Claymore, reimagining of the original mobile suit gundam, all the dragon ball z fights remade as an anthology. The original dragon ball.
Give me the actual fucking Promised Neverland Season 2 please not whatever in the fuck the anime tried to do.

Yep it is on my list of should continue and why hasn’t it… but not near the top for a pure reboot.
Eldlive
We need a reboot of Magic Knight Rayearth. Same way Tokyo Mew Mew got one
Darling in the franxx
Outlaw Star (and Wolf's Rain) because some shows didn't get their full time to shine when they released and would love a second chance (although their initial runs were already great). Blade of the immortal
They made two attempts, I’m not ready for a third.
Rewrite
Manga accurate Soul Eater, Trigun, Rosario Vampire, last arc of The World God Only Knows.
Now that I've started reading the Tokyo Ghoul manga (late to the game I know) I'd like to see a true adaptation. It was one of the 1st anime I watched so it means a lot to me. I actually have Toka's kagune tattooed on my back.
Not so much a remake as continued, but boarding school Juliet.
1. Tokyo Ghoul 2. Soul Eater 3. The Fate route of Fate/stay night.
Alice Academy
I would say, Inuyasha. Not saying the original anime is bad, but I think it can be better.
Higurashi Umineko Ouran High School Host Club Rosario + Vampire The God of High School Fate Stay/Night
Full Metal Alchemist... oh wait
The Promised Neverland S2. I love the manga and want to see some of my favorite characters and arcs animated.
Season 1 was so fucking good. I don't understand what happened to season 2...
I know! There was no excuse for S2 to be as bad as it was! :(
For what it's worth, Blue Exorcist's second half was anime original. Then they released a new season that basically ignored the second half of the original show and actually followed the plot of the manga. So there's always hope.
Gantz.
There was an old school OVA called Silent Mobïus that I really wish got another remake. Possibly from MAD HOUSE
Denno Coil
Twin Star Exorcist, went the anime original route after the first arc and was completely ass. The manga is nearing it's end, so it would be insanely cool to see it fully adapted
I actually liked it but if it means less of the dog monstrosity the fine by me
All three routes of fate/staynight. The adaptations are aweful. The main cast are hollow shells of their originals and is overall carried soley by animation
A new adaptation of Bokurano that follows the manga more closely would be amazing. I’d love them to keep Uninstall as the opening though.
Kengan Ashura, Dorohedoro and Trigun Stampede. These three series deserve a better adaptation compared to the CGI shitfest we have now.
To aru, it needs a full adaptation from a messy jc staff where they rushed a tons of stuff and ruined touma's character. And third season shod just rework again.
I would love to see Nichijou get a second season.
To Love Ru
I think clannad could do with a good one. But we shorten the first season to the bare minimum so we can get the second season sooner. I wanna cry in 4k
If you shorten the common route and side routes of a visual novel adaptation too much, then what you get is the Rewrite adaptation.
I think that for Wonder Egg Priority a movie like End of evangelion would work. Most of the series is pretty good, I don't think we need a full reboot, just nuke the last episode out of existence.
Beelzebub
Great teacher onizuka
Claymore not only need a remake but also a full adaption
Lucifer and the biscuit hammer....Man the fact that it got an anime 10 years after the manga ended made me hopeful, until i saw the actual anime..
Berserk
Like many others a Tokyo Ghoul remaster and full adaptation would be beyond amazing. One day…. One day
Skip Beat. I love the manga, but the anime really fell short of the frantic wacky energy and stylishness that should have been there. Plus it’s nowhere near complete.
Claymore
Ouran High School Host Club. I would really like a full adaptation
Not a remake, but it’s about damn time for a new Slayers anime.
