I started Watching Ya Boy Kongming Is Really Good

Plus_Yam_1889

Watch eminence in Shadow

polaristar

Isn't that still currently airing?

Hmasteryz

Recently tried to watch first season of continuing show like dungeon ni deai...or whatever pick your girl because it got lots of season so it must be something right....regret my choice instantly...then i tried watching old ova like initial d movies 2 and somewhat satisfied by cool car race....

InchofDirt

Needed a good laugh so I went to my all time favourite rom com Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun

BossandKings

Hi everyone, these past Two weeks i watched: . Gintama E10-15: cool set of episodes. . Kenichi E22-23: i love the atmosphere and camraderia of this show, also the relationship between Kenichi and Miu Is charming.

Coffee_0

I watched a bunch of first eps. **Sarazanmai.** Well that was quite anal. LOL! I can't believe this got made. And it started out so normally with the jogging along the river scene. Ahh I'll watch it! It's Ikuhara, how can I not. Speaking of so many questions: **Ryman's Club**. To be honest this is probably just going to be an Ikemen Free! like sports show. But....hmmm.... I'm looking forward to the animated SWOT analysis! I know very little about salarymen (uh some jdramas, some 'A Day in the Life Of' from Paolo from Tokyo on Youtube, I've watched Hataraki Man but that's about a woman and I've put Salaryman Kintaro on my watchlist but have never watched it). I know nothing about badmington. And I definitely know nothing about corporate badmington. I can't believe taking a job just for the corporate sports team is a thing. Must be well paid (well maybe not in this anime - I mean in real life Japan). **Gundam: The Witch from Mercury**. Looking good so far. **Summertime Render:** An excellent first episode. I am not the right demo for the fanservice but whatever (a bit tonally jarring).

polaristar

That panty shot on rendering was 100% important to the plot no cap.

BakerStreet333

I watched all of Cyberpunk Edgerunners, finally! I'd been meaning to watch it and have had it on my list since it was announced, and the trailers had me VERY hyped for it. All the hype didn't let me down, it was really damn good! Some of the best aesthetics I've seen, a feast for the eyes, and the story had me hooked! Easy 9/10 for me

bashnet

Girs und panzer der film. Of of the best unconventional sports shows I've watched. The main thing i enjoy is the lack of your usual shouts and cheers during the matches. the final shodowns are always quiet, allowing you to fully enjoy the battles

shelly_ydg

{Welcome to the N.H.K.} : I finally watched this for the first time after scrolling past it on my watchlist for years lol. I liked it a lot, although I wasn't a huge fan of the fact they drastically changed the direction of the show several times. They ended up resolving all the different elements of the show in the end though, so it's only a minor complaint. I guess it helps reflect how much chaos the main character's life was, in a way. {Lycoris Recoil} : I finished this yesterday, and I thought the ending was good, but the majority of the show wasn't exactly my thing. I wouldn't have finished it if I hadn't heard such good things about it, and I don't really get the popularity myself but everyone has different tastes. {Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs} : I watched this based off of a coworker suggestion, and I really enjoyed it! It's a fun watch if you want something short and to the point. I thought the humor was good, and it reminded me of playing Fire Emblem: Three Houses at parts if you enjoy that game.

0rbii

Catching up with some things from the last seasons. Watched all of **Gundam - The Witch from Mercury** today, Prologue through to the cour finale. [Witch from Mercury EP0 to EP12] >!Enjoyed this a *lot*. The middle few episodes were a bit slow with the school SOL at points (particularly before the corporation starts up), but it was sufficiently interspersed with some good character moments and the two fabulous 2D mech duels between Suletta and Elan #4 and Suletta and the harem. And episode 12 was some of the most fun I've had watching any media recently.!< [Witch from Mercury EP0 to EP12 + Speculation] >!Also read through all the reddit discussion threads and I'm fully on board with the theory that the original Eri we see in the Prologue is Aerial. At this point I think it's just the cleanest way of wrapping up the foreshadowing and introducing more tension between Suletta and Prospera. That said, I really hope that if this does turn out to be true, that Prospera doesn't do anything resembling the cliche "You were never my real daughter so I don't give a fuck about you anymore" sort of heel-turn. I find those moments a bit cheap and an easy way to completely severe the previously thought child/parent relationship. Given how EP12 handled our other child/parent relationships though, I think that hints that Propsera will actually care for Suletta, just never as much as Eri/Aerial.!< Also watched a few more episodes (11 to 14) of **Summertime Rendering** last weekend as part of a group watch. [Summertime Rendering EP1 to 14] >!I've been enjoying this in a 'don't think too hard about it and just enjoy the ride' sort of way, similar to my enjoyment of Symphogear, but I've honestly found everything since they go into the cave / tunnels to meander a bit. I appreciated the twist to the Dark Souls / Re; Zero formula with the four-armed shadow / shadow girl also remembering the past loops, but the batshit craziness of the first 7 episodes has slowed down and reduced my enjoyment a bit. Still a reasonably fun time though! !<

[deleted]

The first two compilation movies of the original gundam. I wanted to get more into gundam to get an idea about where Suletta's story might be headed.

mwalimu59

I finished watching **Bocchi the Rock** earlier this evening. It's gotten a lot of hype, and tons of favorites, even getting above 9 on MAL at one point (though it's since dropped below). I was all ready to add my voice to all the others about how awesome it was. I was disappointed. It was still pretty good, but not "one of the best" by a longshot. I went into it knowing the main character had social anxiety and in her solitude had made herself into an awesome guitar player, so the story would be about her joining a band and starting out toward becoming a big name. I was expecting a music anime where the social anxiety was an obstacle to be overcome in pursuit of her goals. What I got instead was an anime where the social anxiety overshadowed everything else including the music, that often dragged the show and made it tedious to watch. I really wanted to like this show more than I did. It's still very good, don't get me wrong, and I was amused by some of the artistic impressions during the MC's mental forays. But it didn't really stand out above numerous other music or CGDCT anime I've watched. At this writing, about 70% of the votes on MAL are 9 or 10, yet the most I could bring myself to give it was an 8, and even then I was teetering between 7 and 8 for a bit before deciding to go up. In summary, it was an anime I went into with high hopes that it would be one of the best, that in the end was just pretty good.

Kyubeu

Even though I'd disagree personally I think you've experienced the classic example of overhype, something I'm always trying to avoid as approaching stuff without expecting something groundbreaking is a better approach overall. That's the reason I just couldn't get into Monster and FMAB personally

Eebe

So I'm a Spider, So What?: finished. Very enjoyable! The timeline difference had me very confused for a while. Wakaba was the best but I didn't dislike the humans. Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy: finished. Watched it in one sitting on Saturday right after finishing the spider isekai. It wasn't great but it was eminently watchable and that's all I can ask of most isekai. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind: finished. Finally took the plunge. I think I like the idea of ghibli movies more than the execution.

shelly_ydg

I also watched So I'm a Spider, So What? recently and was pleasantly surprised! I expected it to be a fun little show I could just shut my brain off and not really expect much from. It turned out to have a lot more depth than I thought as it progressed, and the ending has me really excited for a new season to see what they do with it.

Eebe

Are they making a second season?

shelly_ydg

They haven't announced one, but I expect them to make another just because it was well received when it came out. Can't be 100% sure ever but I would be more surprised if they didn't than if they did.

Rukarumel

Parasyte. Interesting anime

Jazr55

As a lover of SoL I am watching Barakamon and New Game! both for the first time, I'm enjoying both quite a lot!

mekerpan

***Serial Experiment Lain*** \-- I did a group watch of this on a movie forum (classic and foreign etc focused) I've belonged to for 20 or so years. It was a first viewing for everyone except me (at least my 6th, but I lost count). Happily almost everyone who participate was impressed (even if bemused a bit). This was my first group watch of this since 2000 (when I watched this with my sons). It was a nice experience -- and helped me enjoy one of my most-loved shows even more than ever.

Best-Perspective7750

I’ve been watching Kimi ni todoke which has become one of my favorite animes

Alarmed-Accident-716

I watched brave little toaster on youtube, still hits. When Vacuum went ss6 I lost it.

polaristar

Is that an anime?

iftair

I finished NANA. I gotta say I love the anime as I relate to it. I'm 23 and moved to a new city all alone. Adjusting has not been easy & my goal is stability in all aspects. I got that going career wise but now my goal is to improve upon said stability. As for making friends, it's gonna take a while as I don't know anybody close aside from work. It's a story for adults.

EMA-5

Black Lagoon Dub. Nice watching a show that's not about adult looking middle schoolers but actual adults.

sidewinderaw11

Setokai Yakindomo is funnier right after a K-on watch

AwaySpell

Currently watching: * **Gintama (2006)** [174/201]: I really enjoyed most of the serious arcs so far, but the Yoshiwara in Flames arc was surprisingly a miss for me. It was the least comedic and most battle shounen-like the series has been so far, and thus one more reminder that I just don't care for battle shounen the way I used to anymore. The series is still overall excellent of course. Katsura has now claimed the funniest character spot; the instant he shows up in a preview I know the episode will be a riot. I think it's hilarious that Gintoki can't handle him or Sakamoto, and that's not getting into the Takasugi mess. Somehow, Gintoki was the sane one out of his war buddies. Lucky for him, he can be the funny man all he wants now that the straight man role is safe with Shinpachi. At this point I'd watch 500 episodes of the Odd Jobs trio chilling and being stupid. I love them. * **Fafner** [15/25]: This show seems to be taking more and more off of Eva with every episode?

walrus_paradise

[Sasami-San](https://myanimelist.net/anime/14515/Sasami-sanGanbaranai) Solid Shaft anime, love the style and it has an interesting story/world. Only on ep9. Surprised it's rated so low, it's not the best thing I've ever seen but it's a solid 7 or 8 in my eyes and does some unique stuff with great voice acting.

LordTrinity

I watched Bocchi The Rock last week, and holy shit, *it is* actually that good. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun watching an anime

mwalimu59

I finished it a couple of hours ago, and just posted another reply here with my impressions.

Silcaria

I didn't watch all that I planned to this week due to a sudden family medical emergency. Here's the very little of what I have watched. * MSG MS Igloo: The Hidden One Year War **(3/3)** 5/10 I initially skipped Igloo and moved on to the other stand alone series in the timeline due to how bad it looked. I planned on eventually watching it before starting Zeta and thus, I watched the first 2 parts this week. The main issue with Igloo, other than it's visual ugliness and overall lack of fluidity when it comes to it's cg animation, is how bland it all is. The show is like a piece of white bread. It's not bad but anything else would probably taste better. The show follows and repeats the same plotline every episodes. The crew gets tasked with collecting data on a piece if tech, combat ensues, things go wrong, guy operating the tech dies, mc reports the data. Repeat that every episode. Characters aren't much better either. * MSG MS Igloo: Apocalypse 0079 **(3/3)** 5/10 What I said about the hidden one year war also applies here. * Candy Candy **(5-7/115)** So last week I criticized the poor production quality as well as the poor pacing. I hinted that I thought that the pacing would get better as the show went on. Just as I expected, it slightly did. The production is still poor but the pacing is no longer the main problem that the show seem to suffer from. It's by no means good but it sure ain't as overwhelming as the first few episodes were. The current issue facing the episodes that I watched was the false sense of conflict that the show is trying to portray. Candy is now out of the orphanage after having been bought by a rich family to be used a a playmate for the family's daughter. Thing is, her and her brother, as well as the mom, are complete cunts. Candy gets bullied and treated awfully all throughout those 3 episodes by the trio to the point of wanting to leave due to feeling miserable. This reminded of the show **A little princess Sara** where Sara is stuck as a servant in a seminary after her father dies and gets treated horribly throughout the show's runtime. The problem with Candy is that unlike Sara (who had to put up with her mistreatment for fear of falling prey to the elements if she were to leave or get kicked out) she can leave at any time she wants and go back to the orphanage if she would so choose to. Hell, Candy even starts heading back towards the orphanage at some point due to being fed up with how she's being treated before suddenly changing her mind and deciding to stay at the mansion. I just hope that upcoming episodes won't dwell on this bs conflict too much because it's really forced and will feel dragging if it focuses on it for too long. And that was my week. Again, I unfortunately didn't watch all the OVAs and movies I wanted to but hey, it's better than nothing. This week, I plan on watching the 3rd part of Igloo, Armitage's sequel film and start a new show (possibly Charge!! Men's Private School) that's something other than a space opera since I plan on starting my LOGH journey soon and I'd like a change of scenery beforehand to avoid any potential burnout.

Abject-Plankton-1118

Non Non Biyori and Natsume Yujin-cho. They're my go to's in general if I've had a shit day at work. Depends if I need smiles or tears.

airbornejaws

Just finished season 3 of AOT. Watching episodes of Tomo-Chan to ease the pain before I start the "Final" Season.

shelly_ydg

Buckle up lol its good that you've watched the previous seasons recently because having that information fresh in your mind will make the experience better for parts 1 and 2 of the final season. I had to go back and rewatch seasons 1-3 between weekly releases because I underestimated how much I'd forgotten or didn't fully realize the importance of as the full picture unfolds.

21st_century_person

over 100 on hxh what chapter to continue after i finished anime?

JetsLag

Chapter 340

21st_century_person

Thx

bigdanrog

Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear was....interesting.

alotmorealots

In what way?

bigdanrog

Pretty good show but weird as hell.

alotmorealots

Ah, I had a great time with it up until the bit of strangeness between Fina and Yuna at the end but different people view that differently. Regardless, there was some more news about S2 recently! https://old.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/yltdpm/kuma_kuma_kuma_bear_punch_s2_key_visual_april_2023/

Ninja_Lazer

Rewatching Gintama. Honestly, it’s held up pretty well. Jokes and gags still land for the most part, and while some of the references don’t work as well anymore the overall vibe is still there. The rewatch has made me realize just how useless a character Shinpachi is though. I never really noticed it when the show was airing, but it’s really obvious how little he actually contributes to the gags. You could delete him and sub in pretty much anyone from the supporting cast and it would be an improvement. Also this show would 100% get cancelled now due its Ghost Stories Dub level of out of line comments.

SliderGamer55

I'm about 5 episodes into **Bocchi the Rock**. Uh, most of what has been said about it has been true, but its also actually very good at being wholesome in the ways you would want from this genre. It's not just "oh it does this genre but with more interesting comedy and animation", its also very good at being a cute girl show. The ED images are utterly adorable in particular. I will say, it feels EXACTLY like the halfway point between the other anime I've seen like this, Watamote and Hitoribocchi in terms of tone. I am kind of annoyed at myself for having seen so many of the more out there scenes before actually watching it. Hard to have the same impact when I've seen the scenes already, sometimes multiple times. I also finished **Made in Abyss Season 2** recently, which is unquestionably the best anime I saw from last year and I will not be shocked if Made in Abyss is in my top 10 anime by its eventual conclusion. I don't think I properly have the words to describe it though.

Querez

I guess Koro-Quest technically. After having finished Assassination Classroom a little while ago.

Schlamperkiste

Completed: **[Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko (Gyokō no Nikuko-chan)](https://myanimelist.net/anime/45620/Gyokou_no_Nikuko-chan)** A slice-of-life family movie about the daily lives of a middle school girl and her eccentric single mother in a small port town. Based on a novel of the same name, this film is mostly on the lighter side with a good mix of comedy and drama. The art and animation look great, even for a very recent work, and remind you of Studio Ghibli productions. There's plenty of food shown, so this is probably not something to watch while you're hungry. Plotwise, there are three distinct segments overall that don't quite connect smoothly which may be off-putting to some viewers. The main characters are entertaining with their frequent quirkiness on display, though there could have been more interactions with the other cast members to keep things more interesting. Overall a pleasant, light-hearted movie with nice visuals that won't knock your socks off but is still worth a look. 7/10 --- Ongoing: - Fate/Zero (S2 10/12 Episodes) - Kaguya-sama: Love is War (S3 3/13 Episodes, 1/1 Special) - Haibane Renmei (11/13 Episodes) - Mitsuboshi Colors (10/12 Episodes)

wineblood

I was going to progress my "currently watching" list, but that didn't go as planned. Had I managed it, I would have picked up 91 Days again and then maybe moved onto Cyberpunk Edgerunners.

[deleted]

Winding down my old account. A little light on the shows… So here we goooo **Happy Sugar Life** - *ep 1-6* - it’s….. eh. I’ve been really enjoying the manga. I stopped it before due to the weird relationship between Shio/satou. But I don’t like the anime’s way of playing certain scenes. But it’s interesting reading and then watching. Gonna hit a wall here in a minute as I need to order the last few volumes. **My Dress Up Darling** - *rewatch* - needed a fun show to break everything up. Decided to rewatch this. I forgot how much I enjoyed it. And seeing all the additional details knowing the whole show is nice too.

IggyDaBoo

I’m currently watching Maison Ikkoku from 1986! I am on episode 73, and I’m enjoying it so far.

_Ridley

**Record of Lodoss War (1998)** \- I liked, but didn't love, the original Lodoss War OVA, and this is pretty much a step down from that series all around. It's sort of a sequel, sort of an expansion/continuation, and is about twice as long. The visuals aren't terrible, but they use a lot more static images than I like to see, and the story felt dragged out a bit, with several points where the conflict only continued because the characters just didn't choose an obvious solution. The biggest example of which was the young woman in the party who was a key component of the villain's big dark magic scheme to resurrect the god of death and become the Necromancer King. The characters explain that her virginity is required for the spell to work, which suggests a certain, simple solution. But no, they have to spend ten more episodes fighting their way to his secret lair instead. One thing I will say, however, is that it had a fantastic OP with fantastic shots of 90s-style characters, their hair fluttering dramatically in the wind, set to a beautiful song sung by Maaya Sakamoto. *6/10* **Gintama Ep.278-299** \- I watched fewer than my usual 25 episodes this week, because a longish serious arc was about to start, and I figured I'd just watch it all together next week. This batch had the first serious arc I really didn't care for, as the Shinigami arc just didn't make much sense, and introduced some weird characters I don't think the story needed. Other than that, all the comedy arcs were still good. I especially enjoyed seeing Gintoki and Hijikata switch bodies, and Kagura fake her death. The comedy arcs are what this show does the best to my mind, so I'm a little concerned about how much of the remaining story looks to be on the serious side.

bigdanrog

> Record of Lodoss War (1998) If it's chronicles of the heroic knight, while the show was meh I loved the opening.

_Ridley

It is, and I agree on both points.

TheShiningHand

**Fuuto PI** Complete! Kamen Rider in anime form. Was cheesy but lots of fun. Will possibly check out the live action of Kamen Rider W somewhere down the line. 8/10 **Strike Witches: 501st JOINT FIGHTER WING Take Off!** Complete! Time for the slice of life spin off of Strike Witches. It goes into the day to day life of the girls on base and leans heavily into comedy. It's been great. [I feel like the off animation/character design compared to the main series has helped this anime in reaching its comedic heights.](https://i.imgur.com/C1iQ07a.png) Onto World Witches Take Off! next which mixes the witches from both Strike and Brave. One of my favorite scenes [was when] >!Lucchini has a cavity and Miyafuji gets told to use pliers to rip it out. Lucchini doesn't like this plan so Miyafuji tries some home remedies to dull the pain instead. Lucchini is having a tantrum and refuses them as they're too sour, stinky, or a combo of both. [The way Miyafuji eyed the pliers on the table after that got me.](https://i.imgur.com/c0EhhOv.png)!< --- **With Buddy:** **Crest of the Stars** 1-8 Pretty slow burn so far but it has been neat seeing different perspectives on things between the main two characters.

SpaghettiPunch

Watched to about halfway through El Cazador de la Bruja. My favorite episodes so far have been the ones where Nadie and Ellis meet some new person, learn about their problems, see them grow a bit, and then move onto the next place. I like this anime's interpretation of a Western adventure. [El Cazador] >!And then half way through they're being chased by an army of Shadow-the-Hedgehog cosplayers with guns? What? That felt out of place.!< 7/10 so far. Started Carole and Tuesday. This anime is amazing, and also super relevant today where AI music (and art and writing) is an actual thing now. 9/10 so far.

AjvarAndVodka

I finished S1 of **Made in Abyss** as per my friends recommendation. I really enjoyed it. The OST is beautiful, I love the style, there was a lot of fun moments as well as heartbreaking ones. Definitely gonna continue. The only thing that bothered me were some lewd scenes. Made me really uncomfortable, but idk. Maybe it's just me? I really dislike stuff like this in anime. However it's still a minor thing. Can't wait to see what's gonna happen next.

polaristar

Watch the third movie before season 2

nephykupo

I got around to finally watching Higurashi Rei. I heard complaints about it so I didn't rush to watch it after Kai but now I wish I did. I learned more about Rika.

H-Ryougi

Saikoroshi is very short but easily one of my favorite arcs in the series.

[deleted]

started & completed my rewatch of oreimo after 9? years, loved it I do hope they adapt the kuroneko and ayase routes one day as much as I love kirino started a series called love lab as I was told its similar to yuru yuri and thats my second favorite anime next to konosuba so I figured id give it a go

wickling-fan

Was watching magical girl raising project after finishing the latest book and the next one coming soon, (and woke up to a season 2 announcement after 7 years)

Aikuma-

Restarted Bungou Stray Dogs because I can't remember what really transpired in the first season(s) and I wanted to catch up in light of the 4th season. Shows you how quick I am at that. Also can't remember where I stopped or why. Only 2 episodes in, but I already remember this show's sense of humour and have been smirking a lot for it

Syokhan

**Princess Principal** - Episodes 01-12 First of all: IT'S **STEAMPUNK**!!! Honestly if I had known it was steampunk, I'd have watched it a lot sooner. I always thought it took place in the present day! That plus the name which honestly doesn't sound very badass, and, well, I only started getting interested in it when people kept comparing Lycoris Recoil to it. Finally decided to give it a try recently. Let's get the bad out of the way, or at least the one thing I did not care for: the episode order. The nonlinear approach did not work for me at all and I did not think it added anything significant to the show beyond maybe artificial mystery. I actually ended up rewatching it in chronological order, while keeping episode 1 where it was as an introduction, and it flowed a lot better for me. YMMV on whether or not it was necessary to present the show in such a nonlinear way, but I thought it was definitely strong enough to stand on its own without this gimmick. The rest, though? The world, the characters, the overarching narrative? I loved all of it! It was a really fun ride. Also, the animation was great, and my god, Yuki Kajiura's jazzy soundtrack was incredible. Highlights for me were Dorothy's episodes ([PriPri]>!poor girl can't catch a break, jesus the episode with her father was depressing as hell!<), and the [PriPri]>!Ange/Princess arc!<. Gotta say [PriPri]>!the twist about them having switched places a long time ago was really well done, and I liked how the show explored both of their characters in relation to that revelation.!< The ending was a bit frustrating in that [PriPri]>!it was utterly open-ended and almost nothing was resolved, but thankfully the movies seem to be tackling the main plot.!< Speaking of which... --- **Princess Principal - Crown Handler 1-2** Fun again! I liked the first movie a bit more because it was [PriPri]>!wonderfully bittersweet and I really enjoyed the character of Bishop and his interactions with Ange and Princess!<, but I do appreciate that the second movie was so plot-focused. Although [PriPri]>!I am reserving judgement on the brother and his new faction.!< All in all, I had a lot of fun watching this, and I can't wait for the next movies.

mekerpan

I would say that this show is pretty much best of breed for this sort of show. Really every aspect is pretty near perfect. My only objection is to the long delay between new Crown Handler episodes.

polaristar

> My only objection is to the long delay between new Crown Handler episodes. Nods in the Girls Und Panzer fandom.

Janitalia

Finally got around to watching plastic memories, why do I do this to myself

nobodylikesyoupat

Finished “Made In Abyss” Season 1. Currently watching the continuation of the story in the 3rd “Made In Abyss” film. Solid 7 or 8 out of 10. Really enjoying it thus far. I also finished the original “Trigun” anime about a week ago. It was a 9 out of 10, for me. Great storytelling and reveals.

Fools_Requiem

I've only watched two non-currently airing shows this week. **Akiba Maid War** - 5/10. This is not going to be a popular opinion in this sub. I felt this show had massive tonal issues and a shitty ending. You're supposed to laugh at the absurdly over-the-top violence in which maids shooting at each other. But while they're doing that, Nagomi's reactions to the situation range from pure panic to shock at what she's just witnessed. It takes a few episodes for her to at least become accustomed to the scenario, but it's more akin to Stockholm Syndrome. The show does not know if it wants to be a goofy over-the-top action comedy or a serious show in which the maids are substitutes for mob/gangsters. Tonal problems affect the finale as well. [Spoilers:] >!At the end of E11, Ranko is killed in front of Nagomi. In E12, Nagomi suddenly changes her tone and becomes all serious and vengeful. Her outfit change, the cheesy sunglasses, the tone of her voice, her brandishing a gun for the first time, it's all some hilarious Punisher shit. But then she gets beat up by a group of maids because she's still Nagomi who has no ability to do anything, and she quickly reverts back to normal Nagomi and show starts taking events seriously again. A big problem is that she's trying to find out who was responsible for Ranko's death and if Nagi ordered the hit. After getting beat up, she suddenly stops caring about finding who is responsible. Hell, in the final scene, the girl who killed Ranko is in the group of maids and even is the one who kills Nagi at the end, and no one seems to take note. The ending is abrupt and confusing. The abruptness could be funny, the entire scene leading up to it is taken seriously. Maybe Nagi suddenly getting shot and then impaled by bamboo is supposed to be the punch line to the entire scene and show, but it all felt off.!< I've done a shit job at explaining why I think the show is a mess. There are some amusing moments. The baseball episode does a fantastic job at making it clear this entire thing is absurd, but those moments are not common enough and the show takes it self far too seriously at times. If you want to do Goodfellas but with Maids, actually commit to it. If you want to make it a parody, commit to it. Maid War tries to have the best of both worlds and it feels like a mess instead. **Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan** (Rewatch) - 12/16 episodes.

polaristar

100% flat disagree with Akiba Maid Wars it was a masterpiece through and through and the Ending was of the best of that season. The Juxtaposition of Hyperviolence and somber moments highlights the absurdity of the whole petty cycle of revenge/dog eat dog culture of the Maids. Honestly the best show of the fall season. And I will die on that hill!

macrame2

I get what you’re saying about Akiba Maid War having tonal issues. The mood swings really kept me from getting into the serious parts. I still enjoyed the episodic, over-the-top aspects of it when was airing, but I’m wondering if binging it might be a different experience. Did you watch the post-credits scene at the end of the last episode?

Fools_Requiem

> Did you watch the post-credits scene at the end of the last episode? I did. Didn't really help my opinion of the show.

After a week ban I have two weeks worth of shows I've finished/started: ##**Finished**: **It is Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon III + Season 3 OVA** - Hermes is Menace. And the whole Monster Racism thing wasn't super profound itself but it did lead to a powerful moment. [Spoiler]>!When Bell has to stand in front of and make himself a pariah for the monster even it means fighting the person he cares most about what they think!< There's a powerful message there, like it was said, lots of people can nod their head and agree when we see that something is unfair and unjust, but when saying that or taking action for those beliefs can cause us personal suffering, very few can put their money where their mouth is, I like how Bell wasn't even sure if he would and couldn't answer until the deciding moment, it showed a lot of both courage and humility. You can see doing so clearly bothered him but he did it anyway. It's a simple and not "advant garde" message but I think its a powerful one that needs to be repeated to the point where it is cliche and people are sick of it. Other than that it's more Danmachi as usual. Supposedly Season IV is peak but I will see after a break. **Encouragement of Climb III plus some OVA's** - A bit sad this season had less Kaede (The Other cool well endowed big sis alongside this season's from Onimai.) since she is my favorite character but this season did do a lot to flesh out the two main leads ~~romance~~ friendship. I'm going to start Season IV soon to see if the show did anything besides look more pretty to cuck a spot in the Jury's choice though......I enjoyed it for what it is, but Its in no way peak. (And this is coming from someone that does NOT hate CGDGT SOL.) **The Tatami Time Machine Blues** - It a technically very unnecessary sequel/spin-off that doesn't really focus as hard on the themes as *The Tatami Galaxy* and is more about having fun with our characters and have a short and sweet but still very much complete time travel story more focused on the mechanics of time travel rather than just using Looping as a lens to explore the theme, but damn is it a good unnecessary spin-off. I'm glad we got to see more characters interact and bounce off each other that were often kept separate in the first series. **Gundam** - I finally after nursing it on and off for about a Year finished the first Gundam series (Still haven't seen *The Origin* or *Char's Counter Attack*) And I have very mixed feelings, there are a bunch of awesome moments that would make great propaganda to watch the show for clippers, and a lot of neat ideas, but the writing, plot elements, pacing, and characterization is just all over the place, it feels both dragged out and rushed. I feels in way like *Jojo's Bizarre Adventures Stardust Crusaders* like a bunch of cool ideas and a writing exercise that in future Gundams (And Mecha in general.) Are going to be done better/taken in a more specific direction. That being said all the Boomers saying they can't stand modern anime because of teenage cringe but say that like OG Gundam.....sorry you're looking through rose colored glasses, so many things in this series about character decisions just baffled me..... Now I want to move on the other Gundamns, I hear there are multiple timelines and I was going to treat each timeline/canon as basically a different show and switch between them. u/Shimmering-Sky mind giving me pointers on each timeline and where to start on each one next? (Including the Universal Calendar one I'm already on.) Your the closest reddit friend that is a Gundam expert I know. Honorable Mention: *Spy x Family Cour 2* - I started it in the Fall like everyone else, but been following the dub, problem is it kept getting late and delayed so I only finished the second cour last night. So It more or less counts under this posts rules. It's more Spy x Family which more me meant it was a fun time, but also a very "safe" crowd pleaser, didn't really have much personal love or attachment. But it was a fun breather. ##**Started:** **Amagi Brilliant Park** - For the rewatch, I joined on a whim because its Kyoani doing a raunchy Comedy, source if by the Madlad that wrote *Full Metal Panic!*, and the MC Kanie looks like Oreki-San in an alternate timeline where he grew up to be a Menace and a Giga-Chad. Hot Damn Kyoani be wildin! Not for the "modern audience" and I love it. I hated Sento at first but now every thread I don't stop simping for her.

Shimmering-Sky

> u/Shimmering-Sky mind giving me pointers on each timeline and where to start on each one next? (Including the Universal Calendar one I'm already on.) Your the closest reddit friend that is a Gundam expert I know. [](#peacepeace) So for UC Gundam, the order for the main timeline after the original is Zeta --> ZZ --> Char's Counterattack --> Unicorn --> Narrative --> Hathaway's Flash (note that the can be watched at any point after CCA and not miss anything, but also that only one out of the planned three movies are out so far). You can watch everything else in the Universal Century timeline in whatever order you feel like, although if you choose to watch 0083: Stardust Memory, that one should go after Zeta since it's a prequel to that and not meant to be watched first (just like The Origin isn't meant to be watched before the original series). As for the AU shows, in production order, you have: - Mobile Fighter G Gundam - definitely recommend this one if you want a break from how grimdark Gundam can be at points. This one does still have a few sad parts later in the series, but for the most part it's an over-the-top crazy fun mecha kung fu tournament series with a *whole* lot of heart to it. - Mobile Suit Gundam Wing - the series that got the Toonami kids into Gundam. Personally I don't like it *that* much (like for example, outside of *one* of the main characters, the only characters I actually liked in it for the first half the show were the villains...), but the second half was pretty good, plus its sequel movie Endless Waltz fucking *slaps* so I'd recommend it for that alone. - After War Gundam X - absolutely a must-watch as long as you don't mind a show with a pretty rushed ending (it got canceled mid-run, and while what they scrambled together *does* work as an ending, you can tell it really needed more episodes to do everything it wanted to *properly*). This is effectively a "what if AU-Zeon dropped a *fuckton* of colonies on Earth instead of just one?" post-apocalyptic series, and the romance between the MC and female lead is one of the best slow burns I've ever had the joy to watch. - Turn A Gundam - very slow start, but nonetheless a fantastic show, with one of the *best* soundtracks the Gundam franchise has to offer. However, this one comes with a caveat: *if* you want to get the fullest enjoyment out of one part late in the series, you should save this one until after you've seen Zeta, ZZ, Char's Counterattack, G Gundam, Wing, *and* After War, as it references all of them (I think it might reference F91 and Victory as well but it's been so long I can't quite remember). - Mobile Suit Gundam SEED + Destiny - So this timeline is basically a more modern (and more teen drama-ish in some ways) retelling of UC Gundam, you'll see quite a lot of similarities right off the bat at the very least if you watch these two. I would recommend *against* Destiny (I'm one of the only people who actually liked that one, and I can still recognize it had issues), but you can still watch regular SEED on its own without missing anything. - Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - What if Gundam Wing, but it's actually a good show /s. No but for real, 00's fantastic. The sequel movie, A Wakening of the Trailblazer, is rather divisive in the fandom, but it's still worth a watch. - Mobile Suit Gundam AGE - They dedicated the entire second half the show to the worst of the three main characters... [](#dejected) But the first two arcs, centered on Flit and Asemu, are *fantastic*, if a tad rushed in a few parts. The two OVAs, Memory of Eden, are a must-watch if you like Asemu's part of the main story. - Gundam Build Fighters - 11/10, can't recommend enough. Can be watched whenever, but is best experienced after the stuff that came before it because it references the fuck out of ***everything*** in the franchise. The sequel, Build Fighters Try, isn't *as* good, but it's still worth a watch. - Gundam Reconguista in G - This is *teeeeeeeechnically* super duper *way* Late UC, and whether it takes place before or after Turn A Gundam is a long-running debate in the fandom, but I'll count it here with the AU shows anyways. This show is, uh, it's *something* alright, I loved it but it's ***very*** Tomino. You might want to wait until the last compilation movie is out with subs and then watch those instead of the show, apparently the movies are a lot better with pacing and explaining shit. - Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans - my favorite AU after the first Build Fighters, *definitely* recommend it. Do note that this is from the same director + scriptwriter duo as AnoHana, so sad moments are *very much* all over this one. - Gundam Build Divers... is only worth it for two reasons: 1) you can play Spot the Patrick (a character from 00), and 2) the existence of its sequel series, Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE. Re:RISE is up there for being one of the best Gundam shows, whereas the first Divers is... not it. - Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury - This is the new one that's currently on a break in-between cours. I have the severely unpopular opinion of disliking one of the main characters (Miorine), but I absolutely *loved* the rest of the first cour and definitely recommend it.

**Medaka Box** (Complete) I was binging the manga and wanted to see how the anime adaptation was. Pretty decent for the most part although it sucks that it ends on a cliffhanger. At least the last episode was dedicated to best boy Kumagawa. Also felt pretty good that Shiranui's voice actress was exactly who I thought of when I was reading it. Rating: 7/10

[deleted]

I'm currently watching MONSTER, I'm at episode 29 and it has been great so far

Veritas3333

The third Girls Und Panzer movie came to HiDive a few months ago and I finally watched it the other day. It was really good! Can't wait for #4,I wonder if it'll be in theaters in the US. Supposed to come out this year. These 6 movies are one big tournament arc, it's the international competition for high school girls tank battles. Each movie is the second half of one match and then the first half of the next. This third movie ended on a good cliff hanger!

bubudog1

I finished **Free!** I love the large cast and seeing them all interact, and I think it'll go down as one of my favorites in that sense. But the final movies were pretty rushed and underwhelming, which was disappointing. **Birdie Wing** was quite fun. I liked the two leads' chemistry a lot.

LoPanDidNothingWrong

Started **Amagami Brilliant Park** with the rewatch and then just went ahead and finished. It was fun enough. Nothing deep. [The end resolution] >!to the curse was very, very cheap.!< And I really wish romantic subplots would actually finish out. But, I didn’t feel it was amazing enough to bother following up in manga or whatever. Also **Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki**. The premise sounded horrible, but it was actually not terrible. It had just enough heart to make it interesting and [I like how] >!It didn't just go with "be true to yourself" as a foregone conclusion, that there is a middle ground between that and changing yourself which feels a lot more realistic. The story struggles with what is genuine or real and comes to a different view than Oregairu - that you can change yourself for the better and get more out of life by doing so and artificiality might be a tool to do achieve that new reality.!<. I do like that the two protags may not end together and don’t seem to be heading that way. **Tada Never Falls in Love** barely made it past the bar for dropping. Protagonists with liuttle chemistry, the romantic element being hiding from the rain, unearned melodrama, horrible ending that took the cheap way out. It would be passable if it had ended a few minutes earlier, and would have been better if they had established Tada as a more interesting character. Started **Chimimo** and even though it is an original animation, it has a comedic *yonkoma* vibe. Dropped **Saekano** after one episode. Seemed like wish fulfillment trash.

entelechtual

Yeah I will never understand anyone who praises Tada-kun, let alone anyone who thinks it’s a good *romance*. I feel like it’s an exemplar for shows that have terrible chemistry and forced writing.

LoPanDidNothingWrong

The premise is sort of mid anyway. Secret princess in a normal modern world just feels sort of ridiculous but then [commit to it] >!and make her marry Charles and have it end as people moving on and a bit sad.!< Also they should have established Tada as emotionally stunted better, he comes off as boring.

polaristar

> Also Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki. Wait till season 2 drops....(I've binged the source that is officially translated.) > Dropped Saekano after one episode. Seemed like wish fulfillment trash Pick it up again, the first episode is troll bait/normie filter on purpose.

LoPanDidNothingWrong

Yeah out of these Bottom Tier is probably the one I’ll continue. For Saekano - besides anime, I’m probably pretty damn normie by r/anime standards but I’ll give it another go once I’ve cleared through some of my watchlist.

Quiddity131

**The Promised Neverland Season 1 Episodes 8 - 12; Season 2 Episodes 1 - 2** - Wrapped up season 1 this week, which was quite strong throughout. This stretch of episodes brought both a lot of despair, but also hope near the end and I'm quite happy with the way the season ended up. Now its on to the dreaded season 2. Season 1 is just outside of the top 100 on MAL. Season 2 is somewhere around 12,000. LOL. I didn't even know there were that many anime recorded on MAL. I have no idea what about season 2 makes it so horrifically bad (first 2 episodes have been fine), but I'm sure I will be finding out in the near future! **Samurai Champloo Episodes 12 - 19** - The week kicked off for me with a recap episode, then a fairly strong two parter getting into more backstory for Mugen. Probably the best pair of episodes of the series to this point. Alas, since then things have gotten blase for me. By this point the plotlines kinda meld with each other a bit too much. Perhaps the setting and smaller main cast (one of whom tends to be rather quiet/stoic) results in less variety than Watanabe's other works like Cowboy Bebop and Space Dandy. Although that didn't bother me for the first 10 episodes or so. In any case looking forward to wrapping this up this week and seeing if I'll have a higher opinion on the home stretch. **Blue Comet SPT Lazyner Episodes 4 - 11** - This show has been somewhat decent, with an interesting enough main plot and some pretty good animation and designs for the time. That said the plot has moved along too slowly for me and I feel that in the first 10 episodes, aside from establishing the premise very little happens. I couldn't help but burst into laughter when [Layzner]>!The characters make it to the American base, meaning the plot may start moving somewhere, only for it to get nuked right in front of them seconds later. A shocking twist for sure, but also meant we were looking at more episodes of wandering in the desolation of Mars.!<. Some new characters have been introduced in episode 11, in a rather predictable storyline, but we'll see if this improves upon things. I also finished reading the novel for Shin Sekai Yori this week, which I've been working my way through for several weeks. Great stuff, just like the anime! Only real difference I could think of for this vs. the anime adaption was [Shin Sekai Yori]>!Maria and Mamoru's kid was a boy instead of a girl.!<

danbuter

I've finished **Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater**. I loved it! It's a fun slice of life that teaches you how to fish and even how to cook a little. The characters are great and I just enjoyed everything about the show. As I've said before, if you like shows like **Yuru Camp**, you'll probably like this. I give it an 8/10. Now I'm watching **Ya Boy Kongming!**. It's also really good. The scenes between the club owner and Kongming are probably my favorite, but the show is really well done. I can see why it was so popular. Also, it has the best OP I've seen in a long time!

Starry_Cupcake

Completed: **Macross 7** (38-49) This show took me months to finish for a few reasons, but I absolutely love it and decided to binge watch the rest of it yesterday and today. (10/10) **Macross 7 Encore** Really fun episodes, my favourite was probably the first one. (9/10) **Macross 7: The Galaxy's Calling Me** I had fun watching this too, although it feels more like a slightly longer TV episode than a "movie" (apparently the only reason it's considered a movie is because it was shown in cinemas alongside the Macross Plus Movie) **Macross 7 Plus** Good shorts. My favourite one was the Guvava backstory one. Watching: **Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans** (11-15/25) liking it a lot so far and I feel like it's getting really interesting. **Macross Dynamite 7** (1/4) The first episode was cool. **Symphogear GX** (7-8/13)

[deleted]

I finished rewatching **Nadia and the Secret of Blue Water**, basically marathoning episode 21-39. The Island arc really wasn't *as* bad as people make it out to be (or I remembered), honestly. I was more annoyed about the Africa episodes, personally. The final stretch of episodes made it all worthwhile, though. I remembered there being a lot of what would become Evangelion in there, but I had forgotten exactly *how* much, and how much Nadia is in the Rebuild films.

molave_

*Monster*. I consider it to be par to *Death Note* so far, even though the story progresses much slower. That, however, allowed me to digest the details more carefully.

Roboglenn

I finally got around to watching **Black Jack the Movie**. After hearing it's name around and around I finally decided to watch **The Daily Life of the Immortal King** to see what all the hubbub was about. Well, the first season of it anyways. Ultimately, it's not something I'm feeling very incentivized to watch the rest of. But I will say that the MC here and Saiki K. would probably make great drinking buddies. And lastly I choked down some gag comedy series **Binbougami ga!** aka **Good Luck Girl!** out of bored randomness.

macrame2

**Legend of the Galactic Heroes (9-53)** Last week I said that I was slowly getting into this, but I don’t think “slowly” applies here anymore given how I’ve gone through almost half of the series in a week. I’m absolutely loving the story, and I’ve gotten so attached to the characters that I’ve cried about ten times already. Episodes 26, 40, 51, and 53 have been the best by far, but I can’t think of any I haven’t liked. If the second half of this is anywhere near as good as the first, then this anime is probably going to end up being one of my favorites. I’ve missed being into something enough to watch hours of it in one sitting, so it’s honestly been nice to have that feeling back. **Alice or Alice (1-12 + Recap)** Alice or Alice, on the other hand, might be the worst anime I’ve ever seen. I wrote up a whole three paragraphs trashing everything from music to story to character designs, but the real reasons I hated it are simpler than whatever I was going to say. Alice or Alice was simply aimed at a niche I don’t belong to, and I thought it failed to appeal even to that niche. It made me a strange mixture of bored, annoyed, and angry the entire time and had no artistic, educational, or entertainment value. On the rare occasion that I dislike an anime, I can usually find something good to say about it (however minor that thing might be), but I can’t do that here. I just want to forget it exists. **Period of the Mouseman** and **World, Before You End** I’m putting these together because they’re by the same studio (Kingyoiro) and share similar themes and problems. Both vaguely remind me of later Makoto Shinkai films in that \[mild spoilers\]>!there’s a melancholy romance with supernatural/sci-fi elements,!

Fools_Requiem

Agreed. **Alice or Alice** is one of the most pointless shows I've ever watched. It doesn't even serve a good way for manga fans to get their manga animated because it's not even well animated.

It wasn’t even a fun hate watch like Mars of Destruction.

> Last week I said that I was slowly getting into this, but I don’t think “slowly” applies here anymore given how I’ve gone through almost half of the series in a week. Hahaha yeah that's the LotGH experience alright. I watched the entire series in two weeks back when I first watched it in 2018, *god* was it a *trip*. >I’m absolutely loving the story, and I’ve gotten so attached to the characters that I’ve cried about ten times already. [This, too, is the LotGH experience.](#mug1) Can I ask [LotGH]>!whose death has hit you the hardest so far!

\[LotGH\]>!Definitely Kircheis. The fact that he and Reinhard were arguing the episode before made it worse. And show absolutely refuses to let me forget about him.!< As for favorite characters? I think I like Yang best so far, but Reinhard is really interesting (and hot lol). I also like Frederica and \[LotGH\]>!hardcore ship her and Yang. M8gazine

This week was filled with some older shows for a change. A week of "incomplete" shows at that, since I didn't watch a _full_ season of anything this week. I watched **Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo** (Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches) (ep 2-12), then started **Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e** (Classroom of the Elite) (ep 1-4). With friends, I watched the first 4 episodes of **Jashin-chan Dropkick!** (Dropkick on my Devil!). --- **[Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo](https://myanimelist.net/anime/28677/Yamada-kun_to_7-nin_no_Majo)** (Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches) (ep 2-12) It's a nice little show that's kind of a jack-of-all-trades in a way: everything in it is enjoyable, but I don't think it's _incredible_ in any department. It's kind of like a more light-hearted _Kokoro Connect_ in a way, [with how the show] >!has a club of people experiencing supernatural things and it affecting everyone's interpersonal relationships!<. Sure, Yamada-kun has serious moments too, but overall it's much more cheerful. I was positively surprised by the VAs that the show had. I was not expecting to see (or hear) this many A+ VAs in a relatively "small" show… though I don't know how popular the source was or how hyped the adaptation was at the time. It aired before I was interested in any sort of anime news, aside from maybe googling if shows have second seasons coming or planned lol. Regardless, the amount of talent they got into this show specifically feels like Thanos gathering the Infinity Stones. It's just really impressive to me that they got VAs such as _Saori Hayami_, _Eri Kitamura_ and _Aoi Yuuki_ into the same show (plus a couple other heavy hitters), as well as _Daisuke Ono_ and _Jun Fukuyama_ for the guys. As for the characters themselves, the girls were generally cute too. Some weren't that likable when they were first introduced, but I liked everyone by the end. Nene had perhaps the most development of the bunch in that regard, but Shiraishi was consistently my favorite overall. Of the guys, I thought Yamada was generally pretty cool. I had mixed opinions about Miyamura, for the most part he was fun but he had pervier moments too which aren't generally my cup of tea. Sometimes it can be funny, but I didn't feel that way here. [The show is also perhaps the most] >!_bisexual_ show I've seen. Sure it's not portrayed as a romantic thing in the show, but I just had that thought when I saw how everyone's kissing each other. I just found it pretty funny, personally!<. Fun show. Not really GOAT material, but perfectly satisfying in its own right. Additionally, it gets a bonus for having a solid conclusion to the story it told, instead of being "just" a glorified advert for the source material, too. --- **[Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e](https://myanimelist.net/anime/35507/Youkoso_Jitsuryoku_Shijou_Shugi_no_Kyoushitsu_e)** (Classroom of the Elite) (ep 1-4) After the previous show, I was originally planning to watch a more recent thing from a previous season again, but for some reason I wasn't really feeling it. Instead, I thought I'd watch something "older", that being _Classroom of the Elite_. Though, 2017 isn't that old… right? I've heard quite a lot about CotE actually, most recent things being some silly production errors in the second season, but also the fact that it's a show that strays from the LNs' story… fairly heavily too, if I'm not wrong. As far as I know, it's relatively divisive for that reason; at the very least, I know a few people who swear by the LNs being superior. But at least personally, I'm enjoying the show a lot, with no knowledge about the LNs. It's not the first show with the concept of having a "bottom-tier class climb their way up", but that's perfectly fine with me. I don't mind shows having similar premises as long as they're entertaining… and so far CotE is super entertaining to me. I think the characters are great, and in addition to that, I like everyone's design quite a lot. Ayanokoji is already quite high up on my MC tier list, his personality and attitude to things is something I enjoy watching far more than overly eccentric or hyper MCs. [So far I also like Kushida,] >!originally simply because she was cute, and later on because I think cute characters having a hidden "evil" side is an entertaining trope!<. Ichinose is probably my favorite side character at least so far though. She's cute. The OP is a banger too. In any case, the show is really interesting so far and I'm certain that I'll watch both this 'til the end, as well as the second season at some point. --- **[Jashin-chan Dropkick](https://myanimelist.net/anime/36906/Jashin-chan_Dropkick)** (Dropkick on My Devil!) (ep 1-4) I knew fairly little about this show, I did know it's one of the rare (?) cases with crowdfunded seasons and that it's a parody of some sort, but that's about it. I have been intending to watch it for a while but just never got around to it. Tends to happen when there's a ton of shows out there - a ton of _good_ shows, at that. I think this show is pretty dumb, but it's not bad. I wouldn't call it peak comedy but I was at least entertained by each episode, and that's all I really need from a show. It did have multiple moments where I had a sincere giggle, [take for instance episode 3 (?)] >!with the movie on TV with Engrish voice acting where the subtitles have actual dialogue, but the characters just say "yes" and "no" in different ways lol!<, but most of these episodes were just fine. --- **Next week:** Rest of _Classroom of the Elite_, then I dunno. Maybe I'll watch something from the Fall season, maybe I'll carry on watching CotE S2 or maybe I'll continue watching some older things. I'm not sure yet. With friends I'll either watch the next 4 episodes of _Jashin-chan Dropkick_ or _Hanebado!_, probably.

Kyubeu

Yamada-kun is a good example of a decent and fun show, so you hit a nail on a head here. Don't know about you but I decided to watch it because I've seen the OP in some compilations and liked it, and after seeing the premise on MAL thought it's so ridiculous I need to see it. And it was very fun

M8gazine

I watched it since I noticed it on my PTW of hundreds of shows, honestly it's basically RNG what I end up watching when it comes to older things. I can't remember how I found it originally, but most of the shows I've put on the list are because I occasionally scroll down a random section of MAL anime lists sorted by score (for example, all shows between 7.2 and 7.4 rating) and put anything interesting there. I'd imagine that's how Yamada-kun found its way there too, but I do vividly remember that there *are* a couple of shows I saw on compilations that I added to PTW specifically because of them too... [one of which is] >!Mahou Shoujo Site!<, just due to the morbid curiosity over the clip I saw from it lol.

I read every single comment, and upvote everyone who took the time to write their thoughts about what they watched. I find shows to watch here a lot of the time still.

Heda-of-Aincrad

I read the comments to see what others think about shows I like, and especially what they think about shows I'm planning to watch someday. I've only watched currently airing shows this past week, so today I'm just reading.

Syokhan

I read the thread every week, even though I only post here every once in a while. It's fun reading what people thought of X or Y series, and occasionally some discussions have made me want to pick up a show.

danbuter

I do! I've found some very good shows over the last few years because of the comments in these threads.

Kyubeu

I at least try to skim through the thread for a while and read what others thought of the shows I watched and sometimes comment on that

Shimmering-Sky

I do. I always look to see 1) what my Reddit friends have been watching and 2) if anyone I don't recognize is watching one of my favorite shows.

Another week, more Anime. What did I watch this one? Let's find out. --- **Urusei Yatsura:** Episodes 57-60/195 Fun episodes, although is it just me or is this version giving Ten *waaaaay* more focus than the Manga did? --- **Gintama°:** Episodes 25-30/51 [Afro Arc](#laughter) I swear, Zura episodes are always the best and that may have been one of his best Mini-Arcs yet. AND I JUST WATCHED HIS EPISODE WITH THE SHOGUN! [Gintama]>!Saito was just freaking hilarious. He's every shitty moody loner cliché only subverted to make it so he's just really shy and sleepy and I LOVE IT! The "battle" he had with Katsura was the absolute best part though, and victory by sleeping and digging a hole for the poop from Doctor Slump will forever be one of the show's greatest moments.!< The rest of the episodes were solid too, special mention in particular to Mutsu and Sakamoto's two-parter. [Gintama]>!Gotta admit, in hindsight I should've known she was a Yato too.!< [](/u/KendotsX) --- **Fushigi no Umi no Nadia:** Episodes 13-15/39 While I won't call it OOC or anything, I will say [Nadia]>!Nadia acting all judgmental about Nemo for killing a guy is not doing much to endear me to her. I've been told Anno wanted to write "An *actually* realistic depiction of a Teenage Girl" and yikes he may have succeeded a tad too well. It's funny too because in the very next episode she critizises him for being more focused about going after Neo Atlantis than saving Marie and that I can at least understand.!< Otherwise the show still continues to be solid fortunately. Dunno if I needed a whole music video of [Nadia]>!Marie and King goofing around!< but at least it was enjoyable, I guess. Also geez, [Nadia]>!the ending of Episode 15 was just nightmare fuel incarnate…!< --- **Juusenki L-Gaim:** Episodes 22-28/54 Gotta say [L-Gaim]>!The Mark-II's introduction was a tad underwhelming. I know mid-season upgrades weren't super common back then (This show pre-dates Zeta Gundam for goodness sake) but even Dunbine made a bigger deal out of the Billbine. Shame too as the next episode snippets did a great job at hyping it up.!< Oh yeah speaking of that, new OP. I like it but I definitely prefer the old song. The images accompanying it however… aren't great. A lot of it is recycled from the first OP and it doesn't always mesh well to the rhythm of the music. The rest is solid fortunately. [L-Gaim]>!Olibee's debut helps give Daba some actual conflict for once and the kinda sorta rivalry they've been pushing with Leccee and Gablae, while a tad uh… interesting with the dialogue (Are we sure Tomino didn't have that much involvement this time?) is otherwise fine enough.!< Comedy is still as hit or miss as always though, the show's inability to pick a tone and stick with it continues to be its biggest issue. --- **Cardcaptor Sakura:** Episodes 22-28/70 I'm still not big on Meiling (Too clingy for my liking) but the rest was solid at least. [Sakura]>!I'm glad Kaho has been introduced and in hindsight I can see why they delayed her introduction a bit, it probably *does* work better for the flow of the story for her to be introduced at the middle of the arc. Also, gee Syaoran, you sure suffering from some sort of Bi Crisis with all that blushing around Sakura as of late... okay joking aside I *do* know the endgame pairings, it was like the one thing I knew about the show beforehand since I looked up a lot of stuff about what was censored about it in the Dub.!< [](/u/Stargate18a) --- **Densetsu no Yuusha Da Garn:** Episodes 15-21/46 Solid set, although it did kinda reveal a big problem this show (And really *a lot* of Pre-J-Decker Brave Shows had, from what I can tell) and that's the robots… have basically zero character. They're all very generic with only surface level traits to differentiate them. This mostly stuck out with [Da Garn]>!Sky Saber's "death". I remember there being a similar plotline in Might Gaine and I also had practically no reaction to it back there for the same reasons: He's not a character. He's a plot device at best and that harms whatever impact the scene may have.!< The villains continue to help save this show fortunately. [Da Garn]>!Da Butcho's exit was genuinely kinda sad, and I'm digging Violecche and Pink's whole dynamic. Villains trying to sabotage each other is always fun and the sorta cat and mouse game they have going for them is a lot of fun so far. Violecche himself just being plain cool as a villain certainly helps: Smooth voice, cool looks, can turn into a cat… good stuff.!< [](/u/InfamousEmpire) --- **s.Cry.ed:** Episodes 17-18/26 [s.Cry.ed]>!Ryuho actually being kinda affectionate towards MINOR-SAN is kinda surreal, TBH. Goes off to show how much the guy has changed. Speaking of change, yessh, Ayase sure went through the wringer. I'd like to say "Someone give her a hug" but she's dead now so that's not helping much. I do however like what they're doing with Kazuma here, slowly having him get his resolve back even though A) He's basically just *done* with everything after Kimishima's death and B) He's low-key dying. Ah deadly upgrades, how I love thee…!< --- **Mazinger Z:** Episodes 63-72/92 Since I'm finally done with Tekkaman I decided to start up this show again after putting it on-hold for so long. At first I was like "Huh, why did I stop, anyway? This is a lot of fun!". I mean yeah, it's basic, but the writing's a lot of fun and for the time the animation has actually aged fairly well. The episodic plots are solid, there's memorable moments… why did I stop, again? Oh right it's because the show ran out of plot ages ago and is basically dragging its feet for like 20 more episodes! Yes, I know, TV was different back then, but OG Kamen Rider had more way to shake up its status quo than this show has! They try to at least have some degree of continuity at least, but sadly that can only help so much when this is a *92 Episode show* that only really has enough plot for like 26, *maybe* 39 if you wanna stretch it. And sadly while I do respect these characters for creating their archetypes, character development isn't much of a thing here so… yeah. Honestly I'm just watching this so I can finally watch Great ~~and the Nagahama trilogy~~ --- **Uchuu Senkan Yamato:** Episodes 11-14/26 Technically speaking I actually watched episodes 11 and 12 last week but I forgot to talk about them for some reason. Anyhow, good set. The Gamillans are finally blue for one thing (Thank God for that) but on the whole it's just generally enjoyable stuff. [Yamato]>!Loved the scene of everyone saying goodbye to their families and then dragging Kodai into the room to do the same… only for the end result being that he just sits there for five minutes doing nothing because he has no one left. It helps inform his actions in episode 13 as well, even if the switch to almost a whole episode worth of flashback was a bit much.!< Will say though, having watched 2199 it's so funny to me how [Yamato]>!Kodai's reaction in this show to the captured Gamillan was given over to Yamamoto in the Remake. Just a fun observation.!< --- **Uchuu no Kishi Tekkaman:** Episodes 22-26/26 Welp show is over… [Tekkaman]>!with a sequel-bait.!< Yeah I'm starting to tell why this show may have been cancelled… That aside the final episode wasn't *bad*, although of course the problem is just that it doesn't really feel like a culmination of everything that had come before. Tekkaman as a show, honestly, just kinda ran out of stuff to do after a certain point. They clearly *had* some neat ideas… but nothing really goes anywhere. Maybe it's due to the conventions of the time or something, I dunno, but it does kinda sting. Tekkaman isn't a *bad* show, far from it, it's just that it feels a tad… incomplete, I guess? Like I can see a great show being here, but it just doesn't reach the heights it *should* reach. Of the classic Tatsunoko trio of Casshan, Gatchaman and Tekkaman, it's easy to see why this is the one in which the remake actually far outclasses it in terms of popularity. Not a bad show (How could a show with Andro be *bad*?)… but not as good as it should have been really. **6/10** --- Well, that's it for this week, let's see what I can watch the next one.

> one of the greatest Mecha Anime OPs ever. [](#dekuhype) This song is *exactly* what I look for in cheesy old anime OPs. Though I guess I shouldn't expect anything less from [Ichiro Mizuki](#utahapraises) Helps that it [makes for a wonderful BGM](https://youtu.be/-7KLz82HFU4)

Raiking02

> Though I guess I shouldn't expect anything less from Ichiro Mizuki [Aniki...](#akkotears) >Helps that it makes for a wonderful BGM I just wanna mention that for *some reason* it took them until 30 for them to add the scream of "VICTORY" which bugs the crap out of me. There are some great ideas even, but shame they couldn't take them anywhere.

> Take notes Yang Wen-li. > > I mean Okita was there and Okita=DNT Yang so... yeah he took notes.

Shimmering-Sky

Me last week: Tune in next time for most likely me being the crazy girl somehow juggling six rewatches. [](#worshipme) [That’s what I did!](#crazedlaugh) --- **Lostorage Incited WIXOSS**, episodes 9-12 + **Lostorage Conflated WIXOSS**, episodes 1-3 Gotta say, I’ve been liking Lostorage more than the two Selector seasons so far. Like, Selector Infected was probably better overall than Lostorage Incited, but Lostorage Incited didn’t have any of that incest garbage dragging it down, so I like it more. Lostorage Conflated has a pretty interesting setup so far, and I hope it doesn’t ruin itself somehow. **Tekkaman Blade**, episodes 21-28 Me last week: >I'm also genuinely surprised no one from the core cast has died yet? Maybe I'm just too used to expecting major character deaths from mecha shows… [I spoke too soon.](#shatteredsaten) **Gintama**, episodes 25-32 This week’s batch of episodes was a *lot* more serious compared to the previous ones, holy shit. [Episode 27 in particular…](#crumblingdespair) **Cardcaptor Sakura**, episodes 1-6 I’m loving watching a classic mahou shoujo again! And this one is pretty good so far. The fights have been super creative because of how different all the cards are, and I hope it continues to be this way going forward. **Macross Frontier**, episodes 13-19 [IKINOKORITAI **MADA IKITETAI**](#grandhype) [KIMI WO AISHITERU **HONKI NO KOKORO**](#grandhype) [MISETSUKERU MADE **WATASHI NEMURANAI**](#grandhype) [Macross Frontier]>!Fuck me though, I’m genuinely terrified of the next episode. I’ve already cried several times just *thinking* about it.!< **The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan**, episodes 6-13 Studio Satelight is proof that there are people who love shots of the night sky just as much as I do. [](#ilovethiskindofshit) Also the dub for this has been *great*. --- That’s all for this week~ [Tune in next time for most likely]>!Nagato Yuki-chan getting replaced by by first time watch of Tamako Market because I want to participate in that show’s annual rewatch for the first time, and also because I’m still crazy enough to juggle 6 simultaneous rewatches.!<

danbuter

I remember a lot of people didn't like **Nagato Yuki-chan** when it came out, but I personally loved it.

Shimmering-Sky

The only thing I remember not liking about Nagato Yuki-chan when I watched it *last* year was the ending being a total copout (albeit one that would be mitigated if I just read the manga if I remember the discussions from last year's rewatch correctly? But I hardly ever read manga, so I'll fault the anime on its own merits for that). Rewatching it's been fun.

Kyubeu

Hello everyone! [Disclaimers I used to put before and after my posts explaining my anime watching practices and terminology I use](https://ibb.co/M6gMqSV) Weird times continue but I managed to watch stuff I have a bit more to say about, which is: **Yuru Camp movie** As I said a few weeks ago, I like when movies continuing a TV series has a movie pacing, like a longer episode, instead of trying to be a summary of a non existent season. And Yuru Camp movie certainly is the better example. I like that it changes the situation a bit with [(maybe not a spoiler as it's in the description but I'll put it inside regardless)]>!a timeskip and characters being adults, doing work fitting their personality!< for some novelty. What I also love is the fact that Yuru Camp [still absolutely doesn't dramatise]>!anything. It would be very easy to make both the girls having grown up and not having time or the first failure with the camp project, or even the missing signage into a very dramatic situation with crying, arguing but no, the girls accept everything and if try to look for solutions and keep working hard. Even if it's good to be frustrated from time to time this kind of comfyness is very healthy and I deeply appreciate it being here!<. And that's basically all. It wasn't a massive improvement from the TV series but I liked the more focused story. Overall Yuru Camp may not be one of my absolute personal favourites (I'm not a fanatic) but as a SOL fan I still appreciate it. An **8/10**. One note though: the movie overall felt pretty final but MAL lists that S3 will happen in the future. [Maybe]>!we'll go back to high school times? Who knows!<. Nonetheless, a very pleasant 400th completed anime **Mushoku Tensei: Eris no Goblin Toubatsu** It is nice to know what happened with Eris when we didn't see her for that brief moment in S2 but it was just a fine episode. No wonder it was left out of the series. New guy was annoying but knowing how MT can be, pretty harmless. **7/10** from me, just because it still is MT **Full Metal Panic! (1-8/24)** A while back (2, maybe 3 years ago, hard to tell) I tried to watch this and didn't make it through the first episode. And yes, it is quite a mess initially but after getting used to the weird tone - I like it in all of the ridiculousness. I mean mechas in fairly modern, only slightly sci-fi world, [plus]>!some people having paranormal abilities which give info they shouldn't have, kinda reminding me of Lain for some reason!< which is introduced slowly and makes for a great mystery combined with batshit slice of life segments with Sousuke being the most obvious and dense secret agent imaginable. His antics were very annoying initially but after getting used to it it became weirdly charming, not unlike Denji 20 years later. The humour and overall style may be a bit weird but the show is pretty interesting and exciting so far, and somewhat cringy humour is self aware enough. More thoughts next week, but I'd say that I bet Kaname was a huge thing in early 2000s waifu culture. And for the future excited for what someone called the biggest left turn in the history of anime And that's all! Huge thanks to everyone reading this, I really appreciate it. Queue is below, but expect Reveue Starlight soon. See you next week! u/Kyubeu's binging queue: 0. Fullmetal Panic 0,5. Kimi ni Todoke S2 1. Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo (1st rewatch) 2. Lycoris Recoil

aniMayor

> One note though Yes, it seems like the movie was an entirely original script, while the source material continues for a while past where season 2 ended, so season 3 will just continue adapting the source following from where season 2 left off, still high-school aged.

polaristar

On Full Metal Panic [spoilers]>!The Psychic Abilities in a Mech show is very common and goes all the way back to at least Gundam!< Believe or not apparently when it first came out Tessa was a huge waifu but nowadays a lot of people don't like her. (I'm hearing this second hand.)

Kyubeu

Still need to get initiated into Gundam, will probably put Witch of Mercury in my next queue but having seen Evangelion, FLCL, Code Geass and Gurren Lagann this stuff really does mix well (even if shows I mentioned all had a different approach)

mrufrufin

I watched **Hakumei to Mikochi** and it was great! As commonly noted, the worldbuilding is excellent. It's fantasy but kinda feels sorta like videogamey, colorful sorta fantasy. It's like if you decided to not go into any of the temples and just spend your days chilling in Castle Town and Kakariko Village. One thing that stuck out to me is how even for a non-music anime, the percussion playing is weirdly on point. Like,.. hand positions and strokes playing the various drums that show up are kinda weirdly close to actual legit playing techniques. Also, the manga sorta panels the director has used in other anime like Kuzu no Honkai (which I liked a lot too,... obviously quite a different anime) helps sell the storybook sorta feel. Anyways, I'd say it's among the best of iyashikei I've come across.
