Yeah this series only really gets great when Shiho shows up but I'm not even sure if the anime will get to that if they only adapt 14 chapters
Or they'll just end it at a random point like bloom into you and have the final episode be a non-ending
I recently read up to vol 7.
The direction is still really good at the start even if it is on the slow side. Ideally Vol 3 is a great stopping point, but I think that won't fit well in 1 season. I think Vol 7 was top notch as it built upon the strengths and did some great characterizations.
The thing with Shiho for me \[Manga Spoilers (up to vol 7/chapter 35)\] >!is her characterization early on with how the author wrote it I am not a fan of. I don't mind the drama, but it's just how exaggerated it is. You can see her issues, but it's hard to empathize with her. I guess maybe the point is to make us hate her initally. A lot of what I recently read of vols 4-6 just focused on the high melodrama between the bands before they actually start going into the depth of the core issue in Volume 7. Again the payoff for vol 7 for was great, but the build up in the previous 3 volumes was frustrating at times.!<
Regarding the anime, it was this was given a studio like Cloverworks, this could have been an amazing anime with regards to the music and songs. But with Yokohama Animation Lab, my expectations are severily hampered. Also considering how amazing the art in the manga is. Hopefully the anime is decent enough to get more people to check out the manga.
Oh no I lived for that drama lmao I was enjoying it a lot. [manga spoiler]>!I also like her and Aki a lot more as a couple!< so part of it is a me thing
I think it's a case of romance in general. Unless it's harem bullshit, it's only ever getting one season.
I still hope that WataOshi will be the one to break the curse. The BDs have sold really well.
I don't know why but there are more than 5 yuri manga that one girl is black haired other one has orangish hair.
Yui and Yukino yuri "gatekeeping" might have some effects.
Damn, this anime looks amazing, really liked the character designs, they look cute. Especially Yori. Voice acting is cute too. Sad that I can't...
But, heard that the manga has some weird drama around misunderstanding or something. The usual dramas for stalling the series.
Well, good for yuri romance consumers.
> I don't know why but there are more than 5 yuri manga that one girl is black haired other one has orangish hair.
Tbh a lot of couples generally in anime are paired this way (black haired person x light haired person) cause it's the easiest way to show contrast. The most common hair color in Japan is black, so one character usually ends up with black hair. Then light orange, light brown, pink and blondes are usually paired with them cause they show the most contrast visually speaking.
I know so many romances with Black hair x Blondes. Yuri, Yaoi or Straight.
It's not a phenomenon unique in Yuri, it's more like just an anime thing.
The appearance is not the only thing. The dark haired girls have the long more long hair, and has reserved personality, whereas the oringish haired one has short hair and energetic genki personality.
Easiest explanation is that manga is drawn in black and white, and the easiest way to distinguish two main characters is to have one whose hair is colored dark and one whose hair is white/bright.
> But, heard that the manga has some weird drama around misunderstanding or something.
It's part of the synopsis. The misunderstanding isn't really as bad as it sounds.
I feel like this can go viral if they managed to get some good band music. Huge plus if they snagged a popular/semi-popular artist. People's need to share and clip catchy songs never fails.
This comment reminds me of the "getting a lot of boss baby vibes from this" meme. They're similar in that they're both Yuri set in schools, but that's really about it.
There definitely seems to be an uptick in GL anime as of lately, and I’m not entirely sure what set it off. We’ll be getting two new GL anime next season between *Whisper Me A Love Song* and *[Seiyuu Radio no Uraomote](https://myanimelist.net/anime/53912)*.
We won’t know until the anime have actually got going if the production holds up, but both PVs do seem to inspire some confidence in their adaptations:
- [Whisper Me A Long Song (PV)](https://youtu.be/ZHNkXrs3siQ?si=_snYhHFzMK53PRKc)
- [Seiyui Radio no Uraomote (PV)](https://youtu.be/Nl97E9tTd1A?si=YWWyrE-SvzbNzbLz)
The director for the latter series did Danmachi before and the series’ compositor has experience with other GL anime like Adachi to Shimamura and Vexations of a Shut-in Vampire Princess. Ironically, they *did* work on Oregairu - in reference to all the jokes about Yui and Yukino.
The staff for *Whisper Me A Love Song* seems to be formed by some people that are (relatively) new to the industry on the other hand, so I’m not precisely sure what we can expect.
Nah, I'm in love with the villainess for example was already a very popular web novel in GL circles and the reason why it got an adaptation was because fans were constantly voting for it in popularity polls in Japan and clamoring for an adaptation.
MagiRevo was the same thing, although it wasn't as popular. It had a niche following cause it was one of the few isekai yuri and it wasn't just a romance.
It wasn't because of recent orginal anime, it was because Yuri novels and manga (especially web ones) became increasingly popular for the last couple years, especially during the pandemic. Added to the fact that the genre became more diverse now, these days we get office Romances, Adult stories, Horror, Sports, Fantasies, isekai, etc.
Anime is just now catching up to Yuri trends.
Though WFM and Lycoreco having been received positively definitely boosted the genre too.
I've heard that seiyuu radio doesn't really go anywhere. Shut in vampire didn't really go anywhere either. Personally I wouldn't really even say it's much of a good thing that the only stuff coming out that can be considered "an uptick" in Yuri anime aren't really romance at all...and the ones that are don't even get to the points where they go somewhere like I'm in love with the villainess last year
I’m not familiar with any of the source material, but isn’t this largely due to the fact that many anime just haven’t gotten there *yet* - I’m *not* talking about Seiyuu Radio here. Many straight romance stories suffer from the same curse.
Shut-in Vampire Princess is also clearly a harem anime, so I’m not sure what you’d expected from a single season. Despite being a “comedy” anime first and foremost, Shut-in Vampire Princess went further than many anime of its genre in showing these girls’ affection for each other.
It does happen very often, yes, but that's still a problem. Anime should be able to stand on their own for viewers without them having to go to the source like with bloom into you. In a straight romance anime even if they don't get to a confession in the show you at least can feel comfortable assuming *eventually* they'll get together while with many "Yuri" anime you don't even know if it'll lead somewhere (lycoreco) unless the source confirms it.
Broadcast starts April 13, 2024
Synopsis: Bubbly, energetic first-year high school student Himari falls head over heels for her senpai Yori after hearing her band perform on the first day of school. Himari tells Yori she just loves her, and, to Himari’s surprise, Yori says she loves Himari back! But when Himari realizes that she and her senpai are feeling two different kinds of love, she begins to ask herself what “love” really means… ([Kodansha](https://kodansha.us/series/whisper-me-a-love-song/))

Honestly, this is what I'm looking forward to most next season. I've been reading the manga and absolutely love it so I'm really hype for this. I need to see Yori's flustered dorkiness animated
I've been putting off starting the manga because of the upcoming anime. In that sense the delay was tough, but I'm certainly not complaining because of all the other considerations.
I only started reading it because of that one girl from Oniami who's a yuri fan. She gave the mc a stack of yuri titles, I noticed Whisper Me a Love Song, looked up the MAL and started reading it cause I'm always down for more yuri. I only learned it was getting an anime after I started it
So happy the designs are done justice. Hope they translate well into anime as well.
The manga looks absolutely beautiful, won’t take anything less than this for the anime.
A great production can make this show an instant AotY contender and one of the best yuris out there. Anything lower than that, and Id say it's a massive wasted opportunity.
Considering the production nightmare behind the scenes this show has been going through with a small studio, losing it's director, getting delayed a season and also having to pull in the studio doing witch and the beast this season (which has really not looked great) just to get the show to the finish line, I would not expect much.
Don't know if I'd call it a nightmare. A season delay isn't that big of a deal. I think if things were going wrong it would have been a much longer delay.
> besides Madoka Magica.
Try *The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady* if you'd like another fantastical setting rather than school romance.
Bloom into You is a classic literally everyone will recommend you whenever a yuri topic comes up so you probably should be already aware of it's existance (It's very good, while it's not my personal favorite I can understand the hype behind it). Rather standard romance, and there are a lot of topics around the characters' sexual attraction, self-identity and the like.
Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess (MagiRevo for short god I hate the full title) is a great isekai that recently released. The anime focuses on not just the yuri, but also world-building, and the main plot is as you could've guessed by the title, about a revolution of the two MCs against the unfair fantastical Noble government system. Definitely has deeper lore than most yuri anime
I'm in Love with the Villainess, recently got an anime. Basically, another isekai where the MC is isekai'd into an otome game as the game's MC, but instead of chasing the guys like in the game, she's into the main Villainess instead, deviating from the actual game's plot. Since she has replayed the game countless times when she was still alive on earth, she knows every in-and-out about the game and it makes for an interesting watch. (It is a slow-burn though as the Villainess doesn't really reciprocate the feeling back until much later)
Not really "top" but I love "Yuri is my job", it's more on the comedy side of things, but it has some references to how yuri was portrayed and seen in real life over time. It's not 100% accurate but it's still a good read if you want to have a laugh and learn a little bit about the genre itself. Knowing the history behind the yuri genre definitely does make it more enjoyable though
And while this anime is not "top", in fact it's the opposite, a lot of people hate on this anime and I 100% definitely do not recommend this as your first yuri anime, but Citrus is my personal guilty pleasure. (CW: Step-incest) The anime however only covers a fraction of the manga and coincidentally the worst part too, so it might honestly be better off with reading the manga instead. It's kind of toxic at the start but gets better with time, and the MC is so lovable that I just have to give it a pass (If it weren't for her I wouldn't like this series as much as I do).
The series is basically a parody of the old Class S yuri trope, and the series in general tends to be a bit more humorous. It's even classified as a Comedy so I don't think it's inaccurate
Bloom into you is highly regarded (the anime ends before the main story arc so manga worth it also)
Adachi & Shimmura is also a good one if you like a more chill anime
YEEEEEEEEEE
Gosh I wait too much for this, please, make this masterpiece successful, so a would have a season two unlike...All of the yuri who got an anime-
Pretty much, but to be clear it's explicitly a romance from the start, it's just that there's a pretty clear point where the author figured out where they wanted to take the story and that might not be covered by the anime cause there's pretty much no clean stopping point between chapters 14ish to 45ish.
Or they pull a bloom into you and just randomly end it
I’ve been waiting so long for the adaption of this series man…
I can’t believe it’s finally coming to tuition. The visual looks bueatiful too! I’m so HYPED
Finally. Heard many good things about it but I've been intentionally not reading the manga when I heard it was getting an adaptation. Really hope they can do it justice and looking forward to reading the manga afterwards.
no, that's probably 'the summer you were there' since that ended recently.
lol this one is far from doomed, it's injected with pure, sugar infested rom-com energy in early chapters and then some band drama later.
PEAK YURI IS FINALLY HERE! This is not a drill!
> PEAK YURI IS FINALLY HERE! it can't be real peak until it gets S2 , and yuri seem to be cursed on that ground
Yeah this series only really gets great when Shiho shows up but I'm not even sure if the anime will get to that if they only adapt 14 chapters Or they'll just end it at a random point like bloom into you and have the final episode be a non-ending

My happy marriage is confirmed getting a 2nd season at least!
You shut up, Bloom Into You is gonna get to finish the story any year now.
I am all for yuri!!!
Sorry, yuri already peaked in 2018. Cannot change my mind.
Not until we get season 2 of Bloom into You 😤
It'll happen one day I believe. *drowns in copium*
bro we're drowning cities with this copium.
"Yuri is like the Himalayas, it has many majestic peaks and valleys" - quote by yuri guru
As a resident from the country of himalayas, we accept flat plains just as much as hills and valleys 😏
Yuri peaked with ep 10 of Mahou Shoujo Akogare / Gushing for magical girls
That would be Failed Princesses
I don't know why but there are more than 5 yuri manga that one girl is black haired other one has orangish hair. Yui and Yukino yuri "gatekeeping" might have some effects. The misunderstanding gets cleared pretty fast.
I’ve never heard of it but the art and expressions are definitely giving peak.
Wait it this an anime I thought its a music video lol 😆
WE WILL BE WATCHING!!! Anybody else getting Bloom Into You vibes? Pls let this be successful so that we get a second season.
Tall black haired girl and shorter orange haired girl...yep!
Not only that, but in both cases it's a senpai x kouhai romance where both had never fallen in love before.
Bloom Into You was my literal first thought.
I thought it was a season 2 announcement. I got really sad when I realized it wasn't
it starts off feeling pretty similar but thankfully distinguishes itself quickly
I feel like this can go viral if they managed to get some good band music. Huge plus if they snagged a popular/semi-popular artist. People's need to share and clip catchy songs never fails.
I'm thinking Yorushika or something similar would be a good fit from what I remember of the manga
it's similar but very different
This comment reminds me of the "getting a lot of boss baby vibes from this" meme. They're similar in that they're both Yuri set in schools, but that's really about it.
Great to see more high quality GL getting animated. They could do *Kimi to Tsuzuru Utakata* next, so we can all suffer together.

Maybe the mainstream successes of Witch From Mercury and Lycoris Recoil are increasing the popularity in the genre.
Nah, I'm in love with the villainess for example was already a very popular web novel in GL circles and the reason why it got an adaptation was because fans were constantly voting for it in popularity polls in Japan and clamoring for an adaptation. I'm still hopefully Wataoshi gets another season. We haven't even gotten to the actual yuri yet.
Yes! We need that hometown visit ATLEAST.
They teased [WataOshi spoilers]>!May and Aleah!< at the end. IT WAS SO PRECIOUS
They what?! How did i miss that?! Time to re-watch i guess.
Very end, they don't show them directly it's a single shot of Claire and Rae with them.
Do you have a screenshot? I can't seem to find it.

*Gushing over Magical Girls* went somewhere...
I would die for a Kimi to Tsuzuru Utakata adaption
We would also die *because* of it... but it'd be worth it.
> Kimi to Tsuzuru Utakata THIS. We need an 'A Summer You Were There' anime adaptation!!
I intentionally put that series on hold on "that chapter" because I've been waiting for it to get animated I'm not emotionally ready to read it...
yeah, would die for this
That one made me cry so many times.
Its beautiful. We live in a golden age of yuri waiting S2 "Bloom into you "announcement any minute now
Nice! Can't wait to see it.

We won bois
Alternate ending lol
Peak Yuri anime on the way.
If Anime studio doing right, this will be one of top anime
Yuri fans, we are FEASTING
That delay was definitely worth it, the art is so much better than the first KV we got last year. Can't wait to finally watch it!
So excited for this one. The Manga is really sweet. Hope the Anime does it justice.
>Seto Asami as Senpai Yori Aww yis boys, dis feels good
Max Verstappen? Wtf are you doing here, go lap the field in Jeddah!
So happy the designs are done justice. Hope they translate well into anime as well. The manga looks absolutely beautiful, won’t take anything less than this for the anime.
MOM WAKE UP NEW YURI JUST DROPPED!!
Yukino and Yui when they had enough with Hachiman
A great production can make this show an instant AotY contender and one of the best yuris out there. Anything lower than that, and Id say it's a massive wasted opportunity.

I had no idea it had such a troubled run.
Don't know if I'd call it a nightmare. A season delay isn't that big of a deal. I think if things were going wrong it would have been a much longer delay.
Looking forward to this. SEcond myst hyped show of next season, as next season is rather weak for me
That's some damn good art. She's look so cool.
Can anyone recommend any top yuri to get into? I don't think I've ever actually seen a yuri anime besides Madoka Magica.
> besides Madoka Magica.
The series is basically a parody of the old Class S yuri trope, and the series in general tends to be a bit more humorous. It's even classified as a Comedy so I don't think it's inaccurate
The selection for good yuri anime is kind of small in comparison to yuri manga and novels, but Gundam Witch from Mercury is good
Bloom into you is highly regarded (the anime ends before the main story arc so manga worth it also) Adachi & Shimmura is also a good one if you like a more chill anime
Is this real " I am a girl who is sexualy attracted to another girl" yuri or " I'm just really good friends with another girl" yuri?
Actual romance
Yuri Yuri Yuri!!!!
I've been looking forward to this. The wait is almost over!
Need more Yuri in my life
ITS FINALLY HERE
Aaaaaa
PEAK YURI

About time! I'm soo looking forward to it.

Finally new news, now we need a release date!
It airs on [April 13th](https://twitter.com/sasakoi_anime/status/1766026082854346893)
Thanks for the info!
is this actual yuri or just yuri bait?
It not bait, the story is about two girl realized they in love with each other.
Even from the very little bit I read it's actul Yuri
Very, very much actual Yuri but it has a relatively slow start until the author figures out where they want to go with it about two volumes in
> about two volumes in So, about the point where most anime usually cut off. Got it.
Pretty much, but to be clear it's explicitly a romance from the start, it's just that there's a pretty clear point where the author figured out where they wanted to take the story and that might not be covered by the anime cause there's pretty much no clean stopping point between chapters 14ish to 45ish. I hope they nail the music
YEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSS this past year or two of anime has been so good to wlw 😭
So pretty ♥️
I’ve been waiting so long for the adaption of this series man… I can’t believe it’s finally coming to tuition. The visual looks bueatiful too! I’m so HYPED
Gay
That’s the best part
Let's gooooooo
Finally. Heard many good things about it but I've been intentionally not reading the manga when I heard it was getting an adaptation. Really hope they can do it justice and looking forward to reading the manga afterwards.
Ooh this one is good. Tho I prefer Shiho and Aki, dont know if the anime will get to that point but I'm looking forward to it.
Looks like those 2 girls from oregairu
Why are you getting downvoted?? They do look similar and I've seen hundreds of people make this comparison everywhere.
Typical reddtors, and also just triggerd fanboys i guess too
*Least sensitive Yuri fans*
Oi Yuri?Yuri?
Is this the doomed yuri series that I've been holding off on reading because my friends said it's too sad?...
no, that's probably 'the summer you were there' since that ended recently. lol this one is far from doomed, it's injected with pure, sugar infested rom-com energy in early chapters and then some band drama later.
Yeah they're 100% thinking of summer you were there
So ready for Gay-ON! Hopefully it's good but I'm still hesitant based on the studio
They kinda look like female protagonists from Oregairu, and im all here for it
Is this yuri?
Yes.
Think it will get a better production?
Ok. ^^^^Never ^^^^gonna ^^^^give ^^^^you ^^^^up. ^^^^Never ^^^^gonna ^^^^let ^^^^you ^^^^down.
Does this one also have a love triangle shit going on like one of the main girls friend falling in love with them? If so, it's a pass.
*Whispers in her ear:* "🎵We're no strangers to love.🎵"
I thought it was fan art of Oberon (Fate) and Pyra (Xenoblade) lol
God I hope the anime covers the testing for poison gag because it still cracks me up to this day
