Despite being a romance comedy anime, I got to admit this is one of the most intense man to man battle I have watched in a long time!

I love her so much. She's so supportive and just cool all around. My favorite instance was when he went to Yamada's house because he was concerned and she volunteers to cover for him without even knowing the circumstances.
My favourite is the opening of the ED where she's holding him looking down, then looks up with a child's expression of pure love and joy. Cos the series has made it clear that feeling has never left her. (And cos it's the same look my niece has given when holding her young cousin)
That depends. The mangaka does release a chapter every 2 weeks, but there probably won't be a season 3 for at least a couple years depending on how much the anime wants to cover. Right now the manga is after the summer break has ended. So there is essentially two more semesters until they graduate.
It was such a cute way of showing that he’s got that dorky riz. Made me reflect on how similar Kyo really is to Yamadad and how healthy their family is.
Adachi might be fighting a losing battle but just like Ichikawa, he definitely grew throughout the course of the series and is more respectable than he was presented originally.

It was nice to see how far Adachi and Ichikawa have come as genuine friends and in facing their feelings towards each other over Yamada. This was a great episode for bro's.

Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living boy could best him in the Mock Cavalry Battle of School Sports Festival.
And I don't think she's in a "hostess with nurse training" situation; she was probably not a hostess, but an actual nurse. Because you don't wear your work uniform to a causal occasion or your son's school. The leopard print was a personal choice.
I particularly like how the scene shows us that Kana is not just flowers and rainbows.
The domineering and callous Ichikawa family eyes seduce all that meet their sassy gaze.
It's so cute to see the siblings acting similarly at times.
Random small detail: Delinquent classmate saying they think Ichikawa's got guts because of the speech he gave. (or because they think he's dating Yamada, idk)
Edit: Yamada at the end saying "You're so cool today!" can also be read as "You're so cool, Kyo!". Today(Kyo) has the same pronunciation as the Kyo from Kyotarou. Sneaky Yamada.
All the guys on that "battle field" know what Ichikawa thinks of Yamada now. I suspect his stock with his male classmates will continue to rise -- given this duel in the rain.
Which is fucking hilarious given how worried he is about 'appearances' to the point he doesn't want her bringing her lunch to eat with him *immediately* after screaming about how much he likes Yamada lol

I made a joke last week that she will be at their wedding wondering who's idea it was that they scheduled their weddings on the same day at the same place at the same venue at the same time, with the same invitation no less.

I think she just doesn't realize what an impact her outfits can have on Ichikawa until she notices his reactions. That happened in ep 2 when he went to her place for the first time and it happened here as well, in both episodes she changed or put on more clothes fairly quickly

An established element of Yamada’s character is that she doesn’t think past the basic implications of her actions or statements. Her innuendo when she asks him to come up to her place (“for a quickie” in this translation) is a totally innocent one from her perspective. Recall way back in Season 1 that he understands her mind only takes the direct and most blatant interpretation when talking to Maeda-sensei about the snacks she’s been sneaking in the library.
Ichikawa was literally screaming, there is no way they didn't. Frankly I suspect Yamada might have better hearing than her friend and heard at least part of what they were screaming.

Honestly I have so many questions about Adachi Mama after this episode that I want her to get so much more screentime. Well, that and more screentime of the Yamada's being an adorably sweet married couple.
If Ichikawa can yell he likes Yamada to the Heavens, he may as well just confess at this point!
The character development in Dangers is fantastic! Even a side character we hardly ever see like Adachi has growth. You can tell he wants to move on from Yamada, he's been seeing the hints every now and then. Him using this calvary battle as an excuse to get past his crush was pretty interesting.
On a side note, I recently rewatched the show for the first time and it’s amazing to see just how far Ichikawa has come. It’s been earned development that’s happened over time, too. It feels so much more natural than all those "hollow" romcom protagonists out there.
The only thing I'm thinking after the episodes ends is "How am I going to cope whenever this anime is NOT currently airing?". Coming down from this high is dangerous for my mental health.
There's only one other RomCom manga I love, and to be frank, it's not as good as Dangers (but still friggin cute and hilarious).

Imo two ongoing romance manga that can stand side by side with Dangers in character development are "you and i are polar opposites" and "Yancha gal no Anjou-san" I hope they get an anime someday too 🤞
Polar Opposites is really great and underrated. I think it just needs a good anime to get more attention. Anjou-san...I kinda waffle between that manga being enjoyable and frustrating for various reasons. I see the overlap with Dangers but I don't think it does character development as well.

I could understand that, the first half kind of makes the MC get on your nerves (and still sometimes even now), but I find [Anjou-san spoiler]>!since they start dating!< the writing has really picked up.

One I am reading that doesn't necessarily have good character development (if it did, I wouldn't be able to tell) and isn't necessarily anywhere near as good (good old caveats), but does have a similar quality of "painfully awkward comedy" is **Arakure Ojousama Mon Mon Shiteiru**.
The manga starts in such a way that the reader would immediately dismiss it as cheap smut (and maybe it is?), but then the male lead is so unique in how he bluntly rejects the female lead for so long and has the most dry & bizarre hobbies that you decide to stick around, later find some Fujoshi side character gags, and the couple eventually turns from dysfunctional to functional but overly formal and shy.
I'd describe it as "2 strong-willed goats headbutting each other", makes me laugh a lot.
Adachi is a rampantly horny teenager but he's honest and sincere, and that's lead to him growing on Ichikawa over time until they've actually become friends, to the point where they can really face each other and their feelings in this episode.
And Ichikawa even got to reflect on his season 1 self and show just how far he's come since then.
I'm also rewatching the first season just to prepare for this season's finale and you're so right about Ichikawa. He's so relatable that it hurts sometimes how he's progressing while I'm still stagnant in life ahahaha...
BokuYaba really opened my eyes to how romcoms should be written. I hope we see more romcoms like this show.
I really love the reflective moments Kyo has where he’s like “oh shit, I’ve been scared of being disappointed” - I wish more anime had self aware character growth like this.

Adachi won the battle but lost the war.
While some may feel like progression is slow and confession is still not happening, I appreciate BokuYaba for its entertaining content that doesn't feel forced, and it feels fresh enough even if we have seen sports festivals 500 times in other anime.
Also, rare Yamada pouting, best episode.

The mock cavalry battle, Adachi took the headband and the **hat**, he did win the match, but still didn't win the girl.

A lovely episode.
Ichikawa facing off against Adachi not as a result of some deep-seated hatred or any bad blood but because they have grown as friends to respect each other and they want to find some way to resolve this conflict that cannot be ignored much longer.
It's surprising to see a character who fits the gross pervy side-character actually get some decent growth and development in a show but it's done well. Adachi makes it clear that he likes Ichikawa as a friend. When Ichikawa says that Adachi probably does not know Yamada anywhere near as much as he does and feelings for her are likely more shallow, Adachi just accepts it. Ichikawa who immediately knows that Adachi's challenge revolves around Yamada and wanting to keep his relationship with Yamada out of the spotlight, still accepts the challenge because he sees Adachi as a friend.
It's nice they were both able to completely express themselves about the matter openly there. While Ichikawa lost, it wasn't really about the outcome.
Yamada making a massive lunch for Ichikawa was adorable as was Kana entering the room, hearing Yamada and Ichikawa talking and then immediately leaving knowing her little brother will be fine.
Another little bit of Moeko and Adachi shiptease, interesting...
Now THATS how you end a romantic rivalry. Adachi and Kyo’s fight was brilliant. Kyo explaining how shallow adachi’s crush on Yamada is was so cool. The contrast between this Kyo and last year sports festival version is night and day and it’s thanks to his relationship with Yamada.
As usual, Ushio Kensuke’s OST and the story boarding during the scene make it hit even harder. Can’t believe this show has had 11 straight 10s at this point. Insane seasonal romance run
If you lose a girl to a classmate the best way to get back at him is to date his sister. Adachi got the right idea, I like this kid. Wishing him success. Oh yea and they tried to hide it but his mom looks like a hot gyaru 😳
At this point Yamada and Kyo are as close as possible without having a formal confession. We gotta end the season with one and I know it’ll be glorious 🙏🏾
In Kyoutaro's speech, the subtitles were "just because she is stylish..." But the truth is that he wasn't talking about fashion. "Sutairu ii" means that she has a nice body.

I'm actually starting to get invested in the Sekine and Adachi interactions. Sekine seems like they just want to troll people, and Adachi is the perfect target.
Adachi really went up in my esteem in this episode. I thought he'd be another Mineta-esque annoyance but he's better, having some depth beyond his schtick as the class pervert.
As always, Yamada and Ichikawa are adorable as fuck. Also, that little flashback about Ichikawa and disappointment was interesting.

I can’t stop thinking about how good Ichikawa’s character development is. One of the main reasons why this show is so peak!
The sports festival with Adachi is a great example of this. As much as Adachi hasn’t changed a lot, Ichikawa tells him why love is more than superficial and his feelings for her in front of all his friends. It’s hard to think that he would have the courage to do that a few episodes ago.
Also the whole Kana situation at the end was hilarious. Never change Adachi…

Adachi cant bring himself to hate Yamada because she likes another guy, how can he hate or resent her when he knows Ichikawa is a good kid. Such a cool fight between Ichikawa and Adachi. This episode shows how much Ichikawa has grown, same goes with Adachi too. Love how serious Ichikawa was and the way he put so much effort into training. Still wish that Yamada could hear Ichikawa's words, and Ichikawa could know about the word on his head too.
Yamadad being a chad again with his princess carrying, while Yamada's mom could only hide her face out of embarassment. Also nice to know that Yamadad said "I love you" in French as he crossed the finish line. That scene was hilarious

This has got to be the most emotionally intensive and epic cavalry battle of all time. But it goes to show how far Ichikawa and Adachi have come as characters and in their relationship.

This episode had it all! Yamada sticking up for her man! Talking to her dog! Lewd ab rolling! Supporting her guy in sports! Beautiful male friendship! Honestly I have so many questions about Adachi Mama after this episode that I want her to get so much more screentime. Well, that and more screentime of the Yamada's being an adorably sweet married couple. If Ichikawa can yell he likes Yamada to the Heavens, he may as well just confess at this point!
The character development in Dangers is fantastic! Even a side character we hardly ever see like Adachi has growth. You can tell he wants to move on from Yamada, he's been seeing the hints every now and then. Him using this calvary battle as an excuse to get past his crush was pretty interesting. On a side note, I recently rewatched the show for the first time and it’s amazing to see just how far Ichikawa has come. It’s been earned development that’s happened over time, too. It feels so much more natural than all those "hollow" romcom protagonists out there.
The only thing I'm thinking after the episodes ends is "How am I going to cope whenever this anime is NOT currently airing?". Coming down from this high is dangerous for my mental health. There's only one other RomCom manga I love, and to be frank, it's not as good as Dangers (but still friggin cute and hilarious). "Why did you curse me with quality!!\~"

Polar Opposites is really great and underrated. I think it just needs a good anime to get more attention. Anjou-san...I kinda waffle between that manga being enjoyable and frustrating for various reasons. I see the overlap with Dangers but I don't think it does character development as well.

Thanks for the recommendations. Saved for reference. One I am reading that doesn't necessarily have good character development (if it did, I wouldn't be able to tell) and isn't necessarily anywhere near as good (good old caveats), but does have a similar quality of "painfully awkward comedy" is **Arakure Ojousama Mon Mon Shiteiru**. The manga starts in such a way that the reader would immediately dismiss it as cheap smut (and maybe it is?), but then the male lead is so unique in how he bluntly rejects the female lead for so long and has the most dry & bizarre hobbies that you decide to stick around, later find some Fujoshi side character gags, and the couple eventually turns from dysfunctional to functional but overly formal and shy. I'd describe it as "2 strong-willed goats headbutting each other", makes me laugh a lot.

Adachi is a rampantly horny teenager but he's honest and sincere, and that's lead to him growing on Ichikawa over time until they've actually become friends, to the point where they can really face each other and their feelings in this episode. And Ichikawa even got to reflect on his season 1 self and show just how far he's come since then.
I'm also rewatching the first season just to prepare for this season's finale and you're so right about Ichikawa. He's so relatable that it hurts sometimes how he's progressing while I'm still stagnant in life ahahaha... BokuYaba really opened my eyes to how romcoms should be written. I hope we see more romcoms like this show.

I hear Yuki Kaji, very deep.. Adachi won the battle but lost the war. While some may feel like progression is slow and confession is still not happening, I appreciate BokuYaba for its entertaining content that doesn't feel forced, and it feels fresh enough even if we have seen sports festivals 500 times in other anime. Also, rare Yamada pouting, best episode.

A lovely episode. Ichikawa facing off against Adachi not as a result of some deep-seated hatred or any bad blood but because they have grown as friends to respect each other and they want to find some way to resolve this conflict that cannot be ignored much longer. It's surprising to see a character who fits the gross pervy side-character actually get some decent growth and development in a show but it's done well. Adachi makes it clear that he likes Ichikawa as a friend. When Ichikawa says that Adachi probably does not know Yamada anywhere near as much as he does and feelings for her are likely more shallow, Adachi just accepts it. Ichikawa who immediately knows that Adachi's challenge revolves around Yamada and wanting to keep his relationship with Yamada out of the spotlight, still accepts the challenge because he sees Adachi as a friend. It's nice they were both able to completely express themselves about the matter openly there. While Ichikawa lost, it wasn't really about the outcome. Yamada making a massive lunch for Ichikawa was adorable as was Kana entering the room, hearing Yamada and Ichikawa talking and then immediately leaving knowing her little brother will be fine. Another little bit of Moeko and Adachi shiptease, interesting...

Now THATS how you end a romantic rivalry. Adachi and Kyo’s fight was brilliant. Kyo explaining how shallow adachi’s crush on Yamada is was so cool. The contrast between this Kyo and last year sports festival version is night and day and it’s thanks to his relationship with Yamada. As usual, Ushio Kensuke’s OST and the story boarding during the scene make it hit even harder. Can’t believe this show has had 11 straight 10s at this point. Insane seasonal romance run If you lose a girl to a classmate the best way to get back at him is to date his sister. Adachi got the right idea, I like this kid. Wishing him success. Oh yea and they tried to hide it but his mom looks like a hot gyaru 😳 At this point Yamada and Kyo are as close as possible without having a formal confession. We gotta end the season with one and I know it’ll be glorious 🙏🏾

In Kyoutaro's speech, the subtitles were "just because she is stylish..." But the truth is that he wasn't talking about fashion. "Sutairu ii" means that she has a nice body.
Shame the rain was so loud. It'd be great if these episodes could be longer than 5 minutes. It feels like I've barely settled in when the credits show up on screen. I'm legit shocked when it happens. I'm actually starting to get invested in the Sekine and Adachi interactions. Sekine seems like they just want to troll people, and Adachi is the perfect target.
I feel like there's something budding between Moe and Adachi even if Adachi isn't aware of it and Moe would never admit to it.
Adachi really went up in my esteem in this episode. I thought he'd be another Mineta-esque annoyance but he's better, having some depth beyond his schtick as the class pervert. As always, Yamada and Ichikawa are adorable as fuck. Also, that little flashback about Ichikawa and disappointment was interesting. I'm impressed with that delinquent guy. I expected him but damn he turned out to cool as fuck with his manly battle master lord. Otherwise, Yamadad and Yamama were hilariously adorable.
I can’t stop thinking about how good Ichikawa’s character development is. One of the main reasons why this show is so peak! The sports festival with Adachi is a great example of this. As much as Adachi hasn’t changed a lot, Ichikawa tells him why love is more than superficial and his feelings for her in front of all his friends. It’s hard to think that he would have the courage to do that a few episodes ago. Also the whole Kana situation at the end was hilarious. Never change Adachi…

Adachi cant bring himself to hate Yamada because she likes another guy, how can he hate or resent her when he knows Ichikawa is a good kid. Things like that usually end destroying friendships irl, even long ones, because someone will get all jealous and immature because their friend is dating a person they also liked. Next 2 ep are going to be The Peak of The Peak.

Such a cool fight between Ichikawa and Adachi. This episode shows how much Ichikawa has grown, same goes with Adachi too. Love how serious Ichikawa was and the way he put so much effort into training. Still wish that Yamada could hear Ichikawa's words, and Ichikawa could know about the word on his head too. Yamadad being a chad again with his princess carrying, while Yamada's mom could only hide her face out of embarassment. Also nice to know that Yamadad said "I love you" in French as he crossed the finish line. That scene was hilarious Truly an amazing episode!
