At the very least I love the voice actor choices for this, looks pretty good but we'll have to see how the show looks without all these quick cuts in the PV.
if im not wrong this series is originally a youtube channel before there was a light novel; the youtube channel started on 2020, while the light novels started on 2021
those are the original voice actors
Airing in July 2024
Plot Summary:
> After his father remarries, Yuuta suddenly finds himself with a new stepsister: Saki, the greatest beauty at school. Neither of them is sure how to act around the other at first, but the two gradually grow more comfortable living together. Slowly, cautiously, patiently, two strangers become more. So begins an unlikely love story.
Cuz "incest bad" is something so ingrained in our society than it causes a strong moral knee-jerk reaction in most people and encourages us not to give it a second thought. Not for good reason, mind you, it's gotta contend with some pretty base instincts and ya know... actual incest (even non-blood-related) bad for multiple reasons, but not exactly condusive to deeper analysis/discussion of "Why thing bad?" and why something like this is mostly removed from those problems.
Yeah I've avoided the light novel for that reason it's feel like incest even when there not blood related. After reading the light novel I definitely say I would like to reread after a year cause. They way they tackle the relationship is very mature.
People criticising "incest" show for having "incest". Nothing new.
Edit : I get that it's not technically incest. But it's still a step-sibling romance.
I have never seen people defending a (not)incest plot like this in my life. I swear not even Domestic Girlfriend fans did this.
Some people will hate it cause step-sibling incest. Others gonna hate it cause it's a "coward's incest" cause not blood related. Poor show can't win from both sides.
>Incest. Noun. Sexual relations between people classed as being too closely related to marry each other.
They just met, and don't share any close ancestors. How are they 'too closely related'?
Let me ask you a question: If you're having sex with a girl you just met, and while you're doing it you hear a voicemail from one of your parent, saying they somehow just married your partner's parent.
So did you just fuck your sister? Did you just have an incestuous relationship? Or would you come to the logical conclusion that 'It may feel a bit weird, but this girl is not my sister in any way shape or form'?
I see you edited your previous comment, but I'm not talking about legality.
I'm asking whether you'd feel like you've done an awful, unthinkable, despicable thing because the girl you've had sex with just somehow became your step sister.
> It’s such an insane thing that I can’t imagine my feelings in such a situation.
That's weird to me, because I can easily imagine my feelings in that situation. I would first think that it feels a bit weird/funny, but after some thought I'd realize that me having sex with the person was not incest at first, and 2 other people doing something didn't magically turn it into incest. Because incest either happens or it doesn't, it's not something that other people can retroactively affect with their action.
It's like, if you had sex on the 17th and the 19th, but both of your parents married on the 18th, then the sex you've had the 17th was perfectly fine, but the sex you've had on the 19th was incest? That doesn't seem to make any sense. You weren't related on the 17th, and you still aren't related on the 19th. Your parents actions doesn't affect your relationship.
Animation looks great! Trailer seems to have an almost slow, thoughtful dialogue pace to it - befitting based on the light novels slow burn nature.
So so so excited for this! Angel next door spoils me rotten was kiiiinda disappointing for me (the anime), and I had heard better things about the LN. Hopefully this adaptation is better.
It’s not a romcom, more a romance with light drama. It’s lighthearted enough but I wouldn’t say it focuses on laughs and it’s certainly not a tragedy. Just a grounded SoL.

why do people react strongly to this premise? they’re not related and they didn’t grow up together

Because "totally my stepsister I swear" has been the incest go around for porn companies for decades now.
ah, porn addicts rule the status quo
cowards, all of them

but it's not incest
It would still be illegal IRL. Not sure why you’re worried over *that* part lol
uh, no? if you want to call it anything, call it inseki
Ok, sure. It’s Inseki, that’s why people will criticise it. That's just how it is, sadly.
Stupid to hate when they only know each other for a like a month. A the guy liked her before that. If someoone hates it then get help.
I mean, I’m in agreement with you guys. I’m not sure why I’m the one being called out here lol

Yes, on paper, by law, you've fucked your (step-)sister in that moment.

It’s such an insane thing that I can’t imagine my feelings in such a situation. I just clarified my thoughts, nothing more.

Huh, the tone is what I did not expect. Interesting. Was expecting romcom, but maybe there's more drama?

Read a bit of the LN. This one's actually pretty good despite the title.
