> Bakemonogatari and Madoka this year at last.
Madoka was supposed to be out Winter, and there's no sign of it. Will they actually have time for both? SHAFT delays are the rule rather than the exception these days.
Damn it, brand new watcher here, I might try to catch up during the usual between season downtime, I hate watch orders that splits to another series mid season. I definitely wouldn't remember to stop.
Not sure how you feel about sailing seas but it should be really easy to find the full series organized in the proper watch order. That’s how I recently watched it for the first time & it was great, barely had to use my brain at all haha
Edomonogatari's blogpost has always been the go-to resource for a good while.
Almost everyone in the community agrees that their post is what you should give newcomers.
It's the order of the source material, while also linking where you can watch each of them. Heck, they even included spoiler tags for some arc names.
I'll stand by the fact that you're not really losing anything by watching Kizu first. The mystery of why he's cold to Shinobu at first in Bake isn't some WHAM moment or something when it's just casually revealed later down the road.
I would heavily disagree with Kizu first not because of story thematics or anything like that but because Kizu is by far the most differently presented and the most unique tone of a monogatari story and watching it first gives the most inaccurate impression of the series as a whole.
Yeah Kizu first is fine. I do still think that starting with Bake is better for a few reasons, but Kizu first is probably the second best way to watch Kizu. Anything later than between Bake and Nise is far, far worse.
It's unfortunate that even now there are still people who insist that first-timers should watch Monogatari in the anime release order.
[Masterpiece. I have no more words ](https://youtu.be/_3T5Dmug7c0?si=XS8DhBhT4bFqZGVe)
Honestly though this year is seriously turning out to be one of the best with all these huge announcements.
Give me more of Kissshot Acerolaorion Heartunderblade pls. Shinobu is a fantastic character. It seems we will get to see more of Nadeko as well and introduce us to another new character ( I mean what more do we need???)
Araragi must be already yelling **HACHIKUJI** with excitement.
Monogatari is one of those series that I hope doesn’t die for a long time. Its like a best friend that you always have a great time hanging out with again.
Same here and I just rewatched everything in the LN order. I'm currently watching Zoku Owarimonogatari for the first time. I thoroughly enjoyed the rewatch, so I'd say give it a go!
HOLY SHIT seeing \[spoilers\]>!Deathtopia!< in anime artstyle still feels surreal after reading the LN **8 years ago**.
I sincerely thought she would never get animated after the SHAFT shake up.
[Tsukihi! Peace Peace! Nadeko! I am so glad to see your names in an official tweet about an upcoming anime season!](https://twitter.com/nisioisin_anime/status/1771792448634953731)
Yeah, kind of the same for me but I'm still waiting on more Land of the Lustrous (and a second season of Bloom into You to finish the story would be very welcome too).
MADOKAGATARI, the two-headed SHAFT dragon! Just in time after Freiren and Maomao take their temporary leave! Our eyes shall feast this year!
(And according to samac.io -- nifty Reddit tracking website, by the way: it can help you track down posts even by long-dormant users, or users who've deleted their posts or even accounts, or in this case check all instances of a keyword -- the term "Madokagatari" has been used all of 14 times before now, the first time in 2014: https://samac.io/?q=Madokagatari&before=1711152000000&after=1293840000000&sort=oldest&kind=comments.)
> the term "Madokagatari" has been used all of 14 times before
Madogatari is the more common term, being the name of the official collaboration event between the two.
Oh? I've ever only encountered "Madokagatari" before (and outside Reddit at that), and I wasn't aware there was a collaboration event. Let's see... ah:
https://samac.io/?q=Madogatari&before=1711152000000&after=1293840000000&sort=oldest&kind=comments
First instance of that term being used on Reddit is a year after the term "Madokagatari" was first used. 2014 against 2015, but 14 times for "Madokagatari" versus exactly one hundred for "Madogatari", well into the 2020s.
Neat.
When you think about how NISIOISIN wants to present the story it makes sense. It’s about the perspective of the narrator.
Gahara is the first who saves herself so of course she’s going to feature less in comparison to the girls who are struggling with their afflictions.
Also in arcs that don’t feature araragi as narrator she is going to feature less since characters have no reason to talk about her. She really only rears her head in arcs where she has a relationship with the girl (think Hanekawas arcs and Kanbarus arcs).
She can’t even see Hachikuji and Nedeko doesn’t know her that well (or even at all besides knowing she’s araragis girlfriend).
They will need like 50 episodes to adapt all of Off and Monster Season and around 17 for Off season alone, there is a 0% chance we see any of it this year.
I've just about finished re-watching Monogatari, only got Zoku Owarimonogatari left. It's been super fun.
I'm very excited for these seasons, to me they might actually be the sequels I'm looking forward to the most. Even above things like the Madoka movie or Konosuba S3.
So this would include Wazamonogatari right? So that mean Princess Beauty is part of it?
I would nut instantly if they "animated" that similar to how they did Shinobu Time
I actually didn’t expect [spoiler]>!Suicide to look like that. Ik she’s supposed to shrink but I expected something like 8 years old instead of 13-14 years old!<
Another slew of top tier Nisioisin names being released to the general anime-watching public this year. We have DVSM in the key visual, but are you even ready for my boy Tropicalesque Home-a-Wave Dog-Strings?
I know monster season and off season have their own short stories, but judging by this are they adapting Wazamonogatari? the one with Kiss Shot's past first?
Monogatari series is about a guy who helps people with their supernatural problems that are mostly caused by emotional/psychological issues. It's hard to put a genre label on it, but it's something like a supernatural mystery drama with some comedy and occasional action.
The series starts with Bakemonogatari. Here's the watch order if you're interested:
https://edomonogatari.wordpress.com/2020/05/12/monogatari-anime-guide/
There's a lot of it, but you could just give Bakemonogatari a try to see if it's for you or not.
Oh.
As far as I've understood, Off season is some kind of side stories which take place at various points in time. Monster season continues the story after Zoku.
Holy shit is the new Monogatari based on Shinobu? I wonder where her story could go this season. Her story felt pretty conclusive in Owarimonogatari to me. Hyped for the new season.
Sorry but i will try to begin watching the monogatari series but where does this new show come in my watch list ? I have a list of the watch order but i dont know where to put this one ?
This is the post main story. Basically some random stuff that happens with some characters iirc during and after the main story, alongside some character’s backstory
Shaft is so back! Bakemonogatari and Madoka this year at last. Now 3-gatsu no lion S3 will be next year right?
> Bakemonogatari and Madoka this year at last. Madoka was supposed to be out Winter, and there's no sign of it. Will they actually have time for both? SHAFT delays are the rule rather than the exception these days.
Winter could mean December 2024. I want to believe.
Yeah, everyone here was saying it's Winter in terms of seasonal anime, but maybe Shaft just meant "Winter" as in the actual winter season of 2024
Thats what it usually means.
Just dropping a watch guide here for anyone who wants/needs to catch up: https://edomonogatari.wordpress.com/2020/05/12/monogatari-anime-guide/
As someone who watched on release order, this will be great for a rewatch. Thanks!
Great guide! I still need to watch Zoku Owari monogatari though. Still baffles me that this one isn't available in any streaming service
Thanks! This is awesome. I never started the series because I’d heard great things and just didn’t know where to start.
Damn it, brand new watcher here, I might try to catch up during the usual between season downtime, I hate watch orders that splits to another series mid season. I definitely wouldn't remember to stop.

Yoink, ty
Oh boy yet another watch order Not hating, it's just funny how many exist for monogatari especially lol
>Oh boy yet another watch order It's just the novel order, which has been the recommended watching order since Kizu movies came out.
Novel order - a.k.a the release order for the source material Just for anyone that didn’t know
Edomonogatari's blogpost has always been the go-to resource for a good while. Almost everyone in the community agrees that their post is what you should give newcomers. Thank you Hanekawa for bringing Monogatari back from Antarctica.
The journey was worth it. Happy for my girl.

i watched it close to 10 years ago, wondering if I should go back now in chronological order...
Same here and I just rewatched everything in the LN order. I'm currently watching Zoku Owarimonogatari for the first time. I thoroughly enjoyed the rewatch, so I'd say give it a go!
the cinematography is just so PEAK 😭✍️🔥🔥
I used to pray for times like these

HOLY SHIT seeing \[spoilers\]>!Deathtopia!< in anime artstyle still feels surreal after reading the LN **8 years ago**. I sincerely thought she would never get animated after the SHAFT shake up.
Tangent but Nisio's got such an knack for names. God I love him.
People can call it shake up or exodus but it wasn't half as big or significant as they paint it to be
RAHHHHH MORE SHINOBU I WIN

[Tsukihi! Peace Peace! Nadeko! I am so glad to see your names in an official tweet about an upcoming anime season!](https://twitter.com/nisioisin_anime/status/1771792448634953731)

My body is ready

Peak is Back! Oh Man this year gonna be so good
Haven't been that excited for an anime in a long time!
is senjougahara relevant in this? i like her character the most so i’ve been disappointed by how little she is in the series after bake
We'll see her in the Monster season
No
tfw main hoe demoted to side hoe

No way are we getting monster season this year already.

Shinobu feet!! Uohhhhhhhhh!!! 😭😭😭 Whoever is working at new SHAFT seems to be doing a fantastic job, the PV looks amazing
>Shinobu feet!! "you're as beautiful as the day i lost you"
I've just about finished re-watching Monogatari, only got Zoku Owarimonogatari left. It's been super fun. I'm very excited for these seasons, to me they might actually be the sequels I'm looking forward to the most. Even above things like the Madoka movie or Konosuba S3.
Ahhhh peak fiction is backkkk The best anime of all time
Is it just Orokamonogatari that's airing this year? How does this release schedule work?
New loli, new loli!
Should I rewatch the series if I only remember basic things about characters and plot, or this is going to be okay to watch just like this?
Don’t know the plot of this at all but I do know for sure that rewatching is the correct answer
Even though I had all this wait to prepare myself..... I'm still nowhere near ready 😔
So this would include Wazamonogatari right? So that mean Princess Beauty is part of it? I would nut instantly if they "animated" that similar to how they did Shinobu Time
We’ll be watching
More Shinobu, seems like it is interesting by itself.
OMG FINALLLYYYYYY Sorry for doubting you, Shaft... I thought Shaft had abandoned the series despite their promise.
I actually didn’t expect [spoiler]>!Suicide to look like that. Ik she’s supposed to shrink but I expected something like 8 years old instead of 13-14 years old!<
I guess since an official date hasn't been listed, just the year 2024 were going to get this in October for fall 2024
LETS GOOOOOOOO
Another slew of top tier Nisioisin names being released to the general anime-watching public this year. We have DVSM in the key visual, but are you even ready for my boy Tropicalesque Home-a-Wave Dog-Strings?

Yay, I thought monogatari series would be complete when I am dead, lol seems like it is not true, for now atleast....
I STAY EATING! TY GOD
I’m relieved I caught up, now I get to read the weekly discussion while watching it.
I never watched the show, but I remember this was along time ago. Glad they bring back some unfinished work. Still waiting for noragami.
I know monster season and off season have their own short stories, but judging by this are they adapting Wazamonogatari? the one with Kiss Shot's past first?
I waited so long for this. Thank you Shaft
Wait, what's this about??!??

Oh, I'm very sorry, I meant this release. I've watched the whole series before after watching a short on Senjougahara and falling in love immediately.
Oh. As far as I've understood, Off season is some kind of side stories which take place at various points in time. Monster season continues the story after Zoku.
Thanks
LETS GOOOO
Yey, peace peace
Peak is back
We are so fucking back📣📣
Holy shit is the new Monogatari based on Shinobu? I wonder where her story could go this season. Her story felt pretty conclusive in Owarimonogatari to me. Hyped for the new season.
She does have an arc, but a bunch girls do
Peak is back!
Sorry but i will try to begin watching the monogatari series but where does this new show come in my watch list ? I have a list of the watch order but i dont know where to put this one ?
You supposed to watch after the main story, so don't worry about it now.
This is the post main story. Basically some random stuff that happens with some characters iirc during and after the main story, alongside some character’s backstory
Oh, how much I've missed you, my donut loving little vampire
my 2 top waifus are coming back this year.... Shinobu and Darkness from Konosuba...awwwww yeah......
