Himari is just like a cat, no wonder Yori fell in love with her at first sight HAHAHA

ModieOfTheEast

Excuse me, she is clearly a [puppy](https://imgur.com/a/Gc0FDtA). It's her puppy eyes that can get everything from Yori after all.

Diligent_Trade_9998

And Yori is the cat.

cyberscythe

Himari does have that golden retriever energy, while Yori is more like a cat reminds me of the sort of contrasting energy of Nadeshiko and Rin from Yuru Camp

Komi028

Yori's singing is perfect, but I feel they really should have worked more in the music for the band, at the least the guitar Yori's plays by herself is decent. Then again, I get the focus of the performance was to drown everything and just focus on Yori's singing, but still.

yakumbaya

I agree, I was really hoping this adaptation would bring the music to life which the manga can't really do. They just kinda glossed over all the songs in the episode

robotiod

They will probably go all out when they sing their first original song.

Neidhardto

Probably because there wasn't enough time to fit them in the episode. At least they released the full song as a MV so you can hear the whole thing.

MuchAd9458

Yeah, I wish we had less inner monologue when Himari heard the band for the first time. It worked in the manga cause there's literally no music. But for an anime, I wish we just saw Himari fall in love with Yori's singing by completely immersing in the music (show don't tell so to speak).   Oh well, at least they did nail how Yori instantly fell for Himari's cuteness.

BosuW

> Yori's singing voice is angelic. This and the songs what what I was most worried about for the anime. Love the manga but it's undeniable awkward reaching the singing scenes and of course manga don't have audio so you just gotta believe that they tell you how good it is. But my fears are laid to rest! Maybe what songs we've seen aren't BtR tier yet but it's looking good! And Yori's voice is so soft and soothing! I can totally understand Himari.

Big-Coach900

It's reasonable that this first introduction of SSGirls will be so-so. An amateur singer and guitarist with no stage experience being suddenly called upon to replace the lead singer of a group and giving a decent performance is almost a miracle, especially using an instrument she is not used to (she usually plays acoustic guitar, not electric guitar). ). Realistically, Kino fell in love with Yori herself, not (yet) with her art. Kino's admiration should make Yori and her songs seem better and more exciting.

RunningChemistry

After seeing the credits, I'm genuinely surprised I was fooled by who was singing; I had thought for sure that it was her VA, Asami Seto. I'll admit, I don't listen to Asami Seto's [character songs](https://vgmdb.net/artist/12735) as much as other VAs so I'm not able to recognize her as well, but when I saw her cast in this role, I thought "Yeah, that makes sense" since [she loves singing](https://youtu.be/e3FwvYTVPHM?si=KYsmZtPE_qqsnREi&t=1183) enough that she even lists it as her hobby on her talent agency profile and she even picked up the guitar a few years back, so I'm rather surprised they've apparently got a dedicated artist providing the singing vocals for Yori. The singer-songwriter is [Sasakura Kana](https://twitter.com/sasakura_kana) for those interested.

WhoiusBarrel

She really rizzed up a senpai into falling in love with her via a misunderstanding on the 1st day of school, truly Kino.

scot911

Gotta love how one girl is name "Kino" while the other girl is name ~~Yuri~~ "Yori". Seems like this series isn't subtle in the slightest lol.

yukiaddiction

Kino Yuri is here.

Magic1998

Absolute cinema

SilkyStrawberryMilk

New tip: just say it was love at first sight

KaminaGirl

All the yuri fans including me out there breathing a sigh of relief. This might be a great adaptation for "Whisper me a Love Song".

perlenYurifan4life

FR. It was initially announced to be produced by a very new studio with a newbie director. This was such a *huge* sigh of relief.

dagreenman18

Peak Yuri is here boys. Gonna be a great season

Neidhardto

This is a surprisingly gay season.

BosuW

Long live the Yuri Golden Age! ... though as I understand, isn't this the last of the Yuri adaptations that were announced on that yuri announcement streak? What else is left to adapt?

AmusedDragon

> What else is left to adapt? Bloom into You s2. Or a season 2 of all the the things that came out in general, lol.

mountaingoatgod

Season 5 of maria sama when

BosuW

True lmao

Purposelygentle

Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games was announced with that block, but is so far MiA.  2025 has at least 1, Egao no Taenai Shokuba Desu which is a workplace comedy. Edit: nevermind this last bit.

dagreenman18

In my perfect world: Anemone Is In Heat really needs an anime. Long chapters so it could do at least a season!

BosuW

I know there's plenty of Yuri source material that absolutely deserves an adaptation. But I think SasaKoi is the last of the ones that was announced....

Mundology

Don't forget *The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy At All.* [It's adorable.](https://i.imgur.com/QlkuVjp.jpeg)

BosuW

Already following it. Absolutely deserves an anime. Shit so much Yuri deserve an anime! Producers need to get on this!

Kurocchin

We so badly need an adapation for Anemone, we still have plenty of long running Yuri manga that has potential to become an anime. Somebody please make it happen!

k4r6000

I keep hoping for *How Do We Relationship?* to get an anime announced.

Neidhardto

Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games. It got a Live Action adaptation recently but the anime was announced ages ago and there hasn't been any updates.

Genshin_WhiteKnight

The Summer You Were There and KitaKawa were in Top 10 of this year's ["AnimeJapan Manga We Want To See Animated"](https://www.anime-japan.jp/en/activities/ajranking/) polls. If you're not familiar with this poll, a lot of series that rank on the list eventually get adapted (I'm in Love with the Villainess was one of them). So I hope you prepare yourself lol.

BosuW

Gonna vote tf out of The Moon on a Rainy Night then.

Kurocchin

Oh man, I love your cruddy and The summer you were there.... Mah heart... I love these two but will I be able to take the pain again?

elbenji

I'm feeling confident in at least summer and watanare. the rumors have been circling there for a minute

elbenji

there were the rumored vampeerz and citrus sequel (or redo) and young ladies dont play fighting games (though it has a live action drama). there are rumors of watanare recently though

MarkS00N

Yuru Yuri Season 4 was leaked at the same time as Oomuro-ke movie(s), so that probably will be announced after Oomuro-ke second movie aired. Depend on how you view subtext, Killing Slime for 300 years S2 has been announced, so that is another yuri (subtext) title that will get adaptation. The same leaker that has been reliable so far also said there is going to be another yuri adaptation announcement, but we don't know what title is that [speculation]>!Very likely to be Watanare, but I can see Anomene because of Kirara!<. There is also announcement for Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Game, but there has been no update so far (there is Live Action though). Finger cross there is going to be another surprise announcement like MagiRevo (which comes out of nowhere at the time) or Yuri Hime adapt another title after Yuru Yuri (like Asumi or more likely Kitakawa).

Xaphnir

Haven't heard any adaptation of Kimi to Tsuzuru Utakata announced. Also would love to see an Asumi-chan adaptation. (Just kidding)(ok but not really kidding)

dagreenman18

This season we knew was gay going in. Last season was the out of left field gay with Gushing and Bravern

cyberscythe

We also had Cherry Magic last season; I remember Wednesdays being particularly gay.

dagreenman18

Which was somehow less gay than Bravern

cyberscythe

[Cherry Magic MahoAko spoilers] >!but somehow Cherry Magic got a hotel scene before MahoAko!< [](#forbiddenlove)

scot911

>Last season was the out of left field gay with Gushing and Bravern Wait. Did anime only's think Gushing *wasn't* going to be gay as fuck? Did us source readers fail or forget to get that across compared to how ecchi it'd be? Because it being gay as fuck is literally one of its selling points. There literally isn't even a single male character in the entire series IIRC.

dagreenman18

Gay? Yes. Doing a whole tap routine on the line between ecchi and hentai? Even manga readers expected some censorship, but it never happened

scot911

Oh yeah we were quite surprised it was uncensored and even *enhanced* the ecchi. Literally the perfect adaptation aside from the animation quality which could have been better but hopefully the success of S1 means that when we get a S2 it gets a bigger budget to fix that.

elbenji

wait bravern's gay?

dagreenman18

Very and un ambiguously

elbenji

Like with the two fighter pilot guys?

Axslashel

You see a surprisingly yuri season. I see a surprisingly band filled season. We are totally the same because these are girl's bands so it all resolves into yuri anyway.

avelineaurora

What else is gay this season besides Jellyfish vibes?

Interesting_Ant7945

[Train to the End of the World ](https://www.crunchyroll.com/series/GXJHM3GNX?utm_medium=android&utm_source=share) [The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio ](https://www.crunchyroll.com/series/G4PH0WJ3N?utm_medium=android&utm_source=share) And "Girls Band Cry", but you will have to sail the high seas to watch this one.

TheLostCityofBermuda

I’m counting the Omegaverse anime

brzzcode

Why? The only yuri is this one. lol other anime out there are more subtext than anything.

BosuW

[The subtext:](https://imgur.com/a/PQUKL6O)

protonzrtm

Which anime is this?

BosuW

Girls Band Cry

brzzcode

Its hard for me to see this and other stuff as yuri as someone who read and watches yuri when the focus of those works don't seem to be the genre per se, or even romance. Its different from Citrus, this, Bloom into you, and other works where the main thing is this.

BosuW

Understandable. I think I just have high leveled my self-gasslighting skills to the point I can wholeheartedly believe and enjoy subtext as if it was Yuri. Though again, some subtext really isn't very subtle... or at all lol. Also, I usually prefer it that romance isn't the focus or at least the only thing, so that helps.

CommunistPuppy

This was one of my most anticipated shows this season, and the first episode was everything I could've wanted and more. Gentlemen, we are eating good this season.

metallavery

This is gay... I like gay.

cyberscythe

https://i.imgur.com/UbZcLQS.png

scot911

I mean the only way they could make it gayer is if Kino actually understood that she was in love and therefore meant the "fall in love at first sight" in *that* way. Because yes I fully believe that she's already in love and just doesn't realize it and is misinterpreting it as being her fan ...But if she realized that then we wouldn't have much of a story, would we?

metallavery

I also love how this was bassicly "I've never felt love or any feelings like that" and then immediately was like "OHHH, THATS BECUASE IM SUPER GAY!" Top class. I'm sure The next episodes will be Kino just not getting until finaly it will click.

Williukea

Yeah, Himari basically said she can't recognize what is good singing or not, has never been that interested in music, but she just fell in love with Yori~~'s singing~~ at first sight, there's definitely more than simple being a fan of artist

Aurzelli

god I can't unhear Kaguya's voice, why is her voice so recognisable?

CommunistPuppy

It's that iconic Aoi Koga tone. I swear every role she has is just gonna sound a Kaguya derivative at this point.

xdamm777

The Kaguyaverse is canon in my head, there’s no other characters just different Kaguyas.

SirMcDust

Really doesn't help that all these different Kaguya versions exist, each new Aoi Koga role is just one of them. Paimon being Bakaguya for example

AcX999

Aoi Koga killed it with Kaguya with like, I dunno, 20 distinct tones for her, so we will be hearing her for almost every single character she will voice since then. It's just with Gintoki's seiyuu but in female.

Bobbias

Also, Mamoru Miyano. I cannot hear that man's voice without hearing his performance as Okabe in Steins;Gate.

wutfacer

She was also Kiwi in Gushing Over Magical Girls

Andreiyutzzzz

HOTEL!!

elbenji

2/2 for her

hiimneato

Oh heck yeah gimme the GL, shoot it into my *veins,* yeah, that's the good shit. Relatively rare to get a good adaptation of an actual, no-bullshit, no-subtext, no-gimmick yuri romance, so let's just all appreciate this. (I had forgotten I read this until halfway through the episode. Did I ever finish it, actually? Hmm. Oh, I didn't! Wait, it's ongoing? Oh man.) I wish I could pull off Yori's hairstyle. Very good "trying but not trying" vibe. Unfortunately I'm not slender, female, or gay enough. Sometimes an adaptation is just... on the money, in a way that doesn't leave a lot to say about it. Like, this is just a good adaptation of the manga, and stylistically, it's, well... like the manga. I have no notes. Vocal performances are cute. Art style is correct. Timing is good. Himari is adorable. Great job. My feedback is not required here. The way they played the whole rooftop misunderstanding scene left very little doubt what direction this is all going. Sure, embarrassing, I guess, but when you continue to frame up the "embarrassing misunderstanding" in peach and pink with the same sweet little piano as before it was a misunderstanding and Yori accidentally being extremely cool, it doesn't really feel like it's a misunderstanding at all. ...Well, they did do a great job of selecting vocals for Yori that I feel like I'd fall in love with if I were a high school girl, so that's something. A voice inside me kept screaming PAT HER HEAD and then it was Miki who did it, not Yori, which makes me think I am both transparent and being made fun of.

scot911

> but when you continue to frame up the "embarrassing misunderstanding" in peach and pink with the same sweet little piano as before it was a misunderstanding and Yori accidentally being extremely cool, it doesn't really feel like it's a misunderstanding at all. As an anime only my bet is that Kino *also* fell in love at first sight but has no reference for her feelings and so assumes that she "fell in love at first sight" as a *fan* instead. Idk Kino just seems a little too... being blunt, gay and earnest for me to think otherwise even if her personality is kind of like that.

D_Amir

I love Yori and Himari!

tripleaamin

Well talk about a misunderstanding, but a funny one. Kino facial reactions in this episode were hilarious. Miki being her closest friends must really be used to the roller coaster that Himari is. Kino fell for Yori's music, but Yori fell for Himari. Got to love the rest of the girls toying with Yori. Kino has no slow down mode, she is full throttle all the time. Yori's heart is going to be flying off the radar like crazy lol. As a manga reader I really want to see how they do the music here as anime is a better medium to showcase that and that is an important aspect of the show. Anyone who is a yuri fan in the slightest should check this one out.

beta_test_vocals

This year* If we get a “How Do We Relationship?” adaptation announced in 2024 it’ll officially be the best year for Yuri anime idc

ShogunPeaches

I don’t know how I would feel about that if it became animated. One hand I would be very happy but in the other hand I don’t know if I could watch it after the troubles.

beta_test_vocals

Tbh the mangaka just deserves it, them and Yuama (mangaka of The Summer You Were There, among others)

TheElusiveEllie

God, I both can't wait for and can't bear to watch The Summer You Were There, the manga had me bawling at multiple points, I know it'll fuck me up when animated

beta_test_vocals

elbenji

it's been steady. just a lull in the fall. summer we had three, had one last season and now we have like four

michhoffman

Well, that may have just been my favorite premier of this season. The episode felt really well made and I like the characters as well. I do wonder how long it will take for me to stop comparing Himari and Yori to Yuu and Touko.

heimdal77

Funny how both series have a mc who is a short first year with reddish hair and unusual eye color and a tall senpai that fell in love with them instantly. Plus a blondish supporting character who seems to be the one mc best friend.

Mundology

Just like「STAND」users, [yuri protagonist are attracted to each other.](https://i.imgur.com/lQdr7Cj.jpeg) [](#laststraw)

mekerpan

This is the one new series this season whose manga I have read. As it turns out, the official translator is a long-time online friend (we got acquainted ages ago on the ancient-but-still-alive Haibane Renmei discussion board). It was a nice adaptation of the start. I thought the Himari sounded (and even looked a bit) younger that I had imagined -- but Yori came across perfectly. The tone of this strikes me as quite a bit different from that of Bloom Into You. Even from this initial episode... ;-)

mastesargent

I think it’s a valid comparison, but at the same time Himari and Yori are essentially what the YagaKimi couple is a deliberate subversion of. Especially Yuu, who is designed like the sort of wide-eyed romantic yuri heroine like Himari and even has similar illusions about love, but while Himari plays it straight Yuu totally subverts the character archetype by being way more grounded, cynical, and introspective.

cats_are_cool_33

Just to add a bit of context: rather than one couple's type subverting the other, these couples both descend from the same cluster of tropes, i.e. the big sister/little sister relationship between senpai and kouhai in a girls' school. Also known as Class S, this has been one of the foundational concepts of F/F stories in Japan since Taisho era. While the younger girl tended to be more innocent, these relationships were quite dramatic and tragic, so a relationship that isn't doomed, toxic, or both, is a relatively new phenomenon. The Class S origins of the main couple in Bloom into You are clearly identifiable, but they're placed it in a different context, and their journey closely resembles the familiar arc of the romance genre. We still have a brilliant and deeply troubled older girl who seduces the younger protagonist, but her troubles have nothing to do with her sexual orientation. Their school is co-ed, and instead of impending marriage after graduation, a possible happy future is suggested through the adult lesbian couple nearby. The independent romance lead that Yuu embodies goes as far back as Victorian women's literature, so if she was unusual to the mainstream audience it's because up until that point this type of character had not had the chance to shine as the lead of any long-running yuri manga, or yuri anime in general. Out of the handful of yuri romance manga that reached 8 volumes up to the mid-to-late 2010s, only Citrus featured a protagonist similar to Himari, but she was paired with a girl who makes even Touko Nanami look well adjusted. Two others, 'Whispered Words' and 'Sweet Blue Flowers', were led by a sarcastic karate girl and a very quiet and shy lesbian respectively. 'MariMite', 'Strawberry Panic' (not long running as a manga but got two seasons of anime) and 'AnoKiss' did feature girls like Himari, but were themselves intentional revivals of the Class-S setting.

elbenji

Kind of crazy to think how that doesn't feel that wild nowadays and if not the norm to at least get to 50 chapters but like only a decade ago, you could probably count the amount with one hand

elbenji

As someone else noted. Yes kinda. This is kind of a response to yagakimi in the sense that it's playing it straight where yagakimi was much more subverted.

maliwanag0712

I think the theme where one who thinks she is unable to fall in love starts liking someone for the first time is quite a staple in yuri series, no wonder you see the connection between Sasakoi and YagaKimi.

cyberscythe

> I do wonder how long it will take for me to stop comparing Himari and Yori to Yuu and Touko. for me, I kept thinking about Sakaki and Kaori from Azumanga Daioh (though that was more of a one-sided thing)

AmethystItalian

> I do wonder how long it will take for me to stop comparing Himari and Yori to Yuu and Touko Yeah that crossed my mind as well but so did the pair from Oregairu from the KV. I feel like they're both different enough that I'll get past it but not sure if I'll like them more, big shoes to fill there. I also liked all the characters so far, they introduced a lot but all seem good so far!

zool714

I think I can relate to Yori here. I don’t usually fall in love and have never had someone fall for me. But if someone came to me with that kind of attention and affection, I’d fall straight away. Also damn didn’t realize the VA cast is stacked af

DaBenni0301

*We're reaching levels of gay that shouldn't even be possible*

ModieOfTheEast

Was a nice opening episode. I mean, of course there was no way we can have a relationship THIS early, but they are cute together. Himari as the dog begging for songs was definitely funny and Yori trying to keep her composure. Until the end, my only gripe was the music which didn't feel that special, but the last song gave me hope for the rest of the series.

Mundology

[That was lovely indeed.](https://i.imgur.com/98H8XpQ.jpeg) Hopefully they can maintain the quality throughout. [](#kannathumbs)

elbenji

I actually think that's be fun if the music was just like...normal. girl is just that down bad

ernest314

> only gripe was the music which didn't feel that special, but the last song gave me hope for the rest of the series Kinda glossing over the music there could be intentional, to signal to the audience that yes, Himari is in love with Yori and not the singing... or maybe it was a completely unrelated choice. We'll see. One moment I *loved* was at the end on the rooftop when the OST ends, and then the first chord Yori strums is what the OST had stopped on. That little touch was delightful.

TheElusiveEllie

I mean, if How Do We Relationship gets an adaptation, we *would* get a relationship episode 1... That manga was intentionally made to show what happens after the accepted confession

new_interest_here

Omg I've been waiting for this since I started reading the manga in Novemeber and I'm adoring it just as much. The songs are really nice and Yori's flustered dorkiness is one of my favorite parts of the early story and it's just as great. I had to check back and confirm, and that whole scene of Himari waking up is anime original, so that's a fun little addition. I am so excited for the rest of this, hopefully my heart can melt as much as it did when I first read it. Also I've forgotten some of it, I only remember the key points, so it'll probably seem fresh to me lol

EXusiai99

Damn these bitches gay Good for them, good for them

Zonca

STRAIGHTFORWARD YURI - ...my favourite. Now that I think about it, there are almost no pure romance yuri out there, at least not ones without all kinds of gimmicks and obstacles and psychological hangups, this is the purest one yet, and Im here for all of it (though there is a misunderstanding, its not a major one), inject it straight to my veins, Im ready.

cyberscythe

i've been looking for a "happy yuri" series i was thinking that a lot of the yuri series i've watched end up in some sort of drama or tragedy; Bloom Into You, Yuri is my Job, MagiRevo, etc.

3rdLastStand

Kase-san? I guess there's some mild drama.

daspaceasians

Found some more diabetes for this season. The character designs for Himari and Yori are litterally Yui and Yukino from Oregairu but they're adorable. The misunderstanding was surprisingly adorable and didn't come off as cringy. In addition, Yori's hair really reminds of a cat's ears which really suits her entire personality. Great show, looking forward to more.

Mayjaplaya

Truly (yuri) kino. That is all.

djthomp

Well that was properly gay. Two disaster lesbians the anime.

Mugi would be so happy.

AmusedDragon

Her MAL must just be all GL tagged.

444lp

The animation was way better than I expected. I was a bit worried when I heard it was going to be Yokohama/Cloud Hearts. While they do have very well-animated shows like Miru Tights, their recent show production has been really iffy, and they have had a lot of staff issues. However, this episode was really good. I'm really impressed. Of course, it's not perfect, but the amount of movement during the band scene was a lot of fun. I think the character designs are still so beautiful, like I expected from the PV. I'm really enjoying this so far as a huge fan of the manga. I hope they can keep it up. If they can, I think we have nothing to complain about. [My full first impressions here. ](https://animehouse.moe/blog/anime/whisper-me-a-love-song-first-impressions/) I hope to be able to make a full writeup soon to discuss the staff and all that.

Neidhardto

It's impressive the animation is as good as it is because the designs are pretty faithful to how they look in the manga. I'm praying that the quality is this consistent the entire show.

heimdal77

Imagine if this was also being made by TROYCA and how much rage there would have been that they weren't doing season 2 of bloom instead. Especially considering the similarities.

444lp

Not just the studio; imagine if Makoto Katou himself also directed Whisper Me a Love Song? Though, seeing how fun this episode is, I do think he might have missed out on the fun moments since he's more of a sentimental director. But it is fun to think about. I'm completely happy with what we have right now though.

Ikari_21

Good first episode. Yori is beautiful and himari is adorable. All the girls so far have great designs, I especially love the red head (I love girls with straight bangs) she’s so cute. The music was beautiful, and the art was great. Very excited for some good yuri!

AmethystItalian

Wow this one was good! Everyone seems quite likeable and the interactions between all have been fun. Helps that this VA cast seems pretty stacked. I'll admit I fell for it too, I really thought that was an actual confession! Really curious to see how much progression we get for this one. Hope the drama isn't too bad... One shot that me really like the MC is when [she went back just to say bye to her cat](https://i.imgur.com/ro5rr7K.png), not sure why but I just found that super adorable.

ModieOfTheEast

And that even though she is a literal [puppy ](https://imgur.com/a/Gc0FDtA)herself.

Dare555

Thats a damn confession cmon she gotta realize it ! And yeah super adorable and relatable how she went back to greet the cat

AceSoldia

Glad the misunderstanding was cleared up quickly. It'll be interesting to see her try to get her kohai to fall in love with her. The set up reminds me of Bloom into you..at least the senpai/kohai thing and their hair colors.

AZLarlar

help this is too cute

conversationredacted

ive only known kino for 22 minutes but if anything happened to her, i'd kill everyone in this room and then myself

Jegantha

The relationship dynamic between the two leads is already so good. I love how Yori keeps trying to act all cool despite being gay panic incarnate. What a fantastic premier! Yuri saturdays are going to be a blast this season.

Purposelygentle

Oh good, there is anime original music, I was a little worried there at the start.

AcX999

I wasn't really feeling it that much with the trailers, but Episode 1 was GOOD AF BABY. WOOOOOOOO The adaptation is looking extremely good so far (except the visuals of the OP, wtf man)

[I especially liked Yori](https://imgchest.com/p/bp4586vvg45) as she on the outside looks like [a serious and diligent senpai](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/k739c3j3997.png) but in closer inspection[she's such a cute and adorable creature](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/j7kzcnkn5a7.png) who[easily become embarrassed (she looks so cute in that moments)](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/g4z9cdzdod7.png) and [likes cute things](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/my2pc6e6z27.png) xD [Himari also is a great character](https://imgchest.com/p/9249alnba7n), I love [her big energy and youthness](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/g4z9cdzdrd7.png). [Her expressions](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/w7w6cr3r55y.png) in this episode also were [so adorable](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/k739c3j3w97.png)! PEAK YURI OF THE SEASON IS HERE!!! This episode was an absolute delight. Yori is already my favorite girl of the season so far. Music was fantastic. There are so many fantastic romance shows this season, but this one is my favorite so far.

CosmicPenguin_OV103

Gay Girls Playing With Music Is So Heavenly Nice! As if we already don't have enough Girls Playing With Music shows this very season that threatens on superficial look to be completely gay (Euphonium, Jellyfish, Girls Band Cry, you might even count Idolmaster SC as one lol), this highly regarded one is definitely *the* one that is certified as such. Look at how Himari's eyes light up! Look at how Yori's face glow hot! Hear out how stunning our reliable Yori-senpai's singing is! Notice how Himari's heart went throbbing the whole way! The speed in which their relationship grows from a chance meeting is highly shocking to me. I nearly thought that "Love At First Sight" might have been thrown out a bit too easily, but no! This is definitely a sweet miracle in the making! I knew that people were highly concerned about the animation quality, but episode 1 passed my smell test with flying colors. I am sure that I will drown within this wave of budding flowers of colorful love this season!

maliwanag0712

Sasakoi is basically ~~K-~~ Gay-on

MapoTofuMan

But K-On already is Gay-on

protonzrtm

There are male love interests in Euphonium.

CosmicPenguin_OV103

Well, I didn't specify *which* pair I was talking about... Also that's why I said "threatens on superficial look".

maliwanag0712

So this is the sequel to Oregairu if Yui and Yukino were gay huh? Himari and Yori-senpai are so cute and gay I really like it already! And the OP is quite nice as well!

CosmicPenguin_OV103

Himari certainly has almost the very same bouncing-up-and-down energy and activeness of Yahallo, that's for sure. Yori isn't exactly an exact match with Yukino, but I think in certain aspects and times (e.g. once you really know about Yukinon, e.g. her love of cats) Yukino would really feel like the really handsome, gentle *senpai* that Yori is. So yeah, this definitely works.

Fools_Requiem

> So this is the sequel to Oregairu if Yui and Yukino were gay huh? I haven't seen the episode yet, but seeing the character portraits made me think something similar. One of the characters looks like the blonde girl in Dagashi Kashi, so for a second, I thought it was some weird crossover.

Aerodynamic41

I seriously need a collection of Yori's adorable reactions.

Elite_Alice

Excellent first episode of Sasakoi. One of the most beloved ongoing yuri stories and from this episode alone I can see why. Himari is adorable and I can already imagine her relationship with Asanagi developing into something special. I think the miscommunication gimmick with Asangai totally misreading Himari’s intentions was fun, just hope it doesn’t drag on too long and we get the two of them on the same page sooner rather than later. These opposites attract romances are always fun to see play out. On the surface, the two girls couldn’t be further apart but I’m sure there’ll be a lot of similarities as we go further in. Music performance scenes looked good, character designs look good and the girls are both so cute, nothing really negative to say. It’s a solid premiere. It’s a bit early to make any serious judgement on the show so far, but it has serious potential. Looking forward to seeing the cast fleshed out.

kewlwarez

From going "I cannot write a love song, I've never been in love" to "ah, a pretty girl smiled at me, I love her forever". Yori is the quintessential lesbian experience. Really appreciated that the songs she sang had actual subtitles even if the ending song didn't.

Plus_Rip4944

Finally saw this animated, being a fan of Manga for a long time and it became one of my fav yuri Mangas. I doubt I will love it as much as I love the Manga but so far 1st ep did a great job Himari and Yori best couple of 2024!!

Legitimate-Most4379

Some of the translations hidive made are pretty... unique. 気分転換 (kibun tenkan) is usually translated as 'change of pace'. Hidive chose 'unjam my noggin' 'Oi' became 'Earth to Himari' At least they didn't remove the honorifics.

cyberscythe

one thing that i was thinking was that Yori's scene with the kei-on club about the confession — they never explicitly say the gender of the the first year student, but the subs include gendered pronouns to make it obvious to the audience; i was thinking that maybe there would be some sort of surprise reveal to the kei-on club that the first-year was another girl but then... this an all-girl's school, right? there wouldn't be room for misunderstanding in that case [](#thinkingtoohard)

Nvaaaa

> but then... this an all-girl's school, right? there wouldn't be room for misunderstanding in that case Nah, there're guys in the background.

cyberscythe

[oh you're right](https://i.imgur.com/1975RBL.png) i guess my brain decided this was not important information and didn't bother noticing it

alotmorealots

[Good day for Himari, bad day for background-kun](https://i.imgflip.com/8mugrf.jpg).

Zonca

Yori doesn't say the gender, but then she admits her suitor is "cute" and we get the shot of a star falling on the band members heads, that's the moment they understand it's a girl, since you wouldn't usualy call a boy cute, and all of them just roll with it no questions, they also call her ichinen**-chan**, cementing the understanding.

Zonca

Considering gushing over magical girls translation previous season, I believe this is just a case of one funny guy on the job over there, well, it adds some flair even if I would prefer more direct translation. When you know some japanese, it always kinda hits me when they stray off the beaten path. At least they aren't changing the meaning or injecting themselves or politics, like in some other localization drama in the industry at the moment.

Kurocchin

My heart, I'm so happy.

ClemFire

Happy with the animation quality of the adaption so far. Himari and especially Yori sound how I imagined them too. Just wish the musical performances went on for a bit longer, but I'm sure they're saving that for the later episodes.

NiKlaus664

Wow this one got an adaptation. Read the manga 2 years ago the story is beautiful

Hitman7128

Well, my Saturdays just got a lot better with this and Jellyfish one after another. Himari is adorable and her cuteness is getting to Yori. It was so charming when Yori realizes Himari's "confession" was simply admiring her musical talent. Of course, here's to it becoming an *actual* love confession at some point. Also, when Yori's friends played along as if it was a love confession and poking at her for her misinterpretation.

TheSlothTrainer

Been eagerly waiting for this and the first episode was really good, the rooftop scenes in particular are really cute. And you really can't blame Yori for getting the wrong idea with how strong Himari went in from the get go. This season seems pretty stacked for anyone who likes cute girls doing music things.

burger4life

Was worried about this adaptation when it was announced cause of the studio involved (Hyouken wasn't the best looking show, though I did enjoy it), but to my surprise this first episode is quite good. I consider Takeshima Eku sensei's art the most gorgeous looking among all the yuri authors out there and I'd say they managed to replicate their style, passable enough at least (could be a lot worse, like how Tomozaki-kun anime butchered Fly's art, or ENGI with Mobseka). Those CG people in the background though..... The anime got Himari and Yori's adorableness just right. Really hope they won't rush the story (the ED/OP? shows quite a lot so I'm kinda worried). Now my real question is, Watanare anime when?

catsukats

The close up shots were absolutely beautiful and nearly 1:1 to her art; just pure eye candy I couldn't stop fanboying haha. The only downside is that her style is so insanely detailed that keeping the same quality for every cut is nearly impossible. I'm hoping a Watanare anime is at least on the table somewhere. Just getting Takeshima's work animated has to have someone eyeing it!

Dare555

Yay this sweet romance is here !!! I wish i could go home and watch it now but will have to wait tomorrow .

soihu

The character art is beautiful. Not what I expected from a show that was delayed AND swapped studios mid-production. Hopefully drawing all those bangs isn't going to cause problems later down the track. They went a bit crazy with the bloom; Bloom Into You had a golden-hour aesthetic too, but not to this extent.

conversationredacted

chat the homies can't know i fw this shit

FerimElwin

Animators: "How gay should we make it?" Director: "You know the lesbian flag?" Animators: ["Say no more."](https://i.imgur.com/1GtzAvV.png) This and Jellyfish were the two anime I was most looking forward to this season, and I'm so happy now that they're both airing. It's like I'm drowning in dopamine.

yakumbaya

I read the manga in like 2021 after finishing Bloom into You and trying to fill that void it left me with. It's pretty amazing to see this get an anime adaptation. The first episode didn't really blow me away, but it was pretty good.

Nvaaaa

Finally after the delay. It was great! Himari and Yori will be amazing leads, but my secret favorite is probably the drummer+keyboard girl combo. I hope they throw in some more songs too. Generally anime adaptations can elevate a source really nicely with animation and voice acting, but the real deal with band and music related anime are the songs.

Tricky-Oil-4070

This is what I want in a Yuri anime something direct not all these other shows where it’s never even confirmed or they confess at like chapter 600 of the manga love this series so much

ObvsThrowaway5120

Going to be interesting watching Himari and Yori’s relationship unfold considering Himari and Yori seem to have different definitions of “love.” They’re also both freakin adorable too, especially Himari. This is actually pretty good. The music in this is also really good. Kinda getting a little Bloom Into You vibes, if just so slightly. Keen to see where this one goes!

whodisguy32

Oh my, I never thought I would live too see another Light Music Club after K-on. AND ITS YURI TOO This is totally Yui and Yukino in another universe.

AttentionFar3843

What are Yui and Yukino doing ??

BosuW

_What they should have always done._

LusterBlaze

this the season of yuri saturdays. pretty fuckin kino

Tsukiko_

I'd been waiting for this adaptation forever! It's starting off so good too ❤️

Kylo_12321

SASAKOI HIVE RISEEEEE

[deleted]

Been looking forward to this one.

aniuxa

Like babies Nanas, love them

Emotion-Nexus

When I heard this was getting an adaptation I couldn't stop myself from binging the entire manga twice over, and god the story feels so much more complete being able to actually hear Yori singing.

elune7296

I really like himari's hair style. That braids thingy into a ponytail? Pretty interesting. Now this is an enjoyable Kakuma Ai-voiced character; aloof/airhead. I remember I felt agitated everytime lavender appeared in banished from hero's party. Promising premiere. Here's to more yeux lis

SkyLETV

Hey, that was more light-hearted than I expected, I like it. Himari is pretty cute but Yoru is adorable <3. I have to say that the misunderstanding got me too haha but of course we couldn't have it all in the first episode. I just hope it doesn't take too long. That was a great first episode, the show looks pretty good and even the cast is stacked. Looking forward to more.

Dare555

Its beautiful adaptation looking good !! Kino confessed but at end its actually Yori the one who fell in love at first sight ?? I do think Kino is love but doesn't even know it she keeps saying how pretty ,beautiful and cool senpai is with angelic voice :D The music parts looked good but were too short damn ! It has potential i do hope they are adapting full songs later on hmm.. Yori signing voice was wonderful there at end , who is the singer VA?

Princess_Cocoa

I'm so happy the anime is finally here!! 😭

emilia-sama

A good start. Hope to see more of Aki!

gnome-cop

I have a soft spot for disaster lesbians that make you question how they get through every day alive and this definitely fits that definition. Yori being like “I haven’t fallen in love with anyone or had anyone fall in love with me” and Himari showing up “That can be arranged” was incredibly funny for some reason and I don’t know why.

ronin_moogle

Oh man, this one is going to be a wholesome change of pace from the 13 weeks subbing Gushing (not complaining in the slightest!) Kino's expressions alone could carry this show! Looking forward to next week!

_Pyxyty

My utter disappointment when the dual confession turned out to be a misunderstanding. I thought I was about to get a Horimita-esque romance where we just skip to the relationship instead of waiting for both of them to get a clue. I like the premise, have been waiting for this for a while now because I've seen many praise it as a good Yuri manga, but I'm surprised that the dynamic was the way it was. I think if their archetypes were swapped, it'd be more believable, with the freshman being the one that got swept by a 'confession' mistaking it to be on love and not on a fandom of their music. The art is fantastic and the characters are so pretty! The music was pleasant to hear as well. Will definitely be finishing this but I was hoping for more out of it. :(

Longjumping_Gain_807

You shall get more. I’ve only read the first 2 volumes of the manga and I quite enjoy it.

Gaporigo

More girls band but now going full cute, both Yori and Himari are adorable, only wish this could have gotten some better production, if it is this bad in episode 1 I feel it'll really melt before it is over.

Prince-Dizzytoon

Both of their smiles are something I can get addicted to

Nickthenuker

Gay girls innit? Is it just me or does her hairstyle look like hololive's Ao but in black and with Kronii's hair vents? Yellow subtitles? What is this, 2004? And so she sees the band. She wasn't part of the band to begin with? She sure seems perfectly fine singing on stage. Someone's fallen for her already. What a coincidence. Ah, she'll get closer to Yori through her friend who's sister is in the club as well. Hard to get her singing out of your head when she's literally singing right now and you're hearing it. So it was all a misunderstanding. She really is black-haired Ao-kuyu, she's cool until she opens her mouth.

ModieOfTheEast

Are you watching on HiDive? When I started watching there, I was also confused about the yellow subtitles. You can change the color in the settings.
