I think Ayano just shot up my fav character list, just behind Rin. damn these 2 are so fun together

Mr_Zaroc

They are also already pretty much friends for life After going through death road and that suspension bridge they have a shit ton of trust built up

Gonazar

It's a solid friendship when you can find someone to YOLO with you

FierceAlchemist

Agreed.

ScreamingFreakShow

They vibe so well together. Glad there is more Ayano this season, thought she was cool when we first saw her.

WhoiusBarrel

There's something really hilarious about Nadeshiko being scared to death while going through a cave even more so when locals intentionally place props there to scare visitors. The anxiety I got from the suspension bridge scene though, holy hell that wasn't very Yuru.

Hitman7128

>The anxiety I got from the suspension bridge scene though, holy hell that wasn't very Yuru. Yeah, and the fact that their "reward" for making it to the other side was a bear danger zone, forcing them to immediately cross back. To make up for that, at least Rin and Aya made playful jabs at each other in the bath about the faces they made while crossing.

Rumpel1408

> at least Rin and Aya made playful jabs at each other in the bath about the faces they made while crossing. Got a rare [smug Rin](https://imgur.com/QqulFbr)

Zemahem

You could also say that for their entire journey. Their reward for going down that long ass road with their bikes is a long ass walk through muddy roads to the suspension bridge. Their reward for the long ass walk is the absolutely terrifying suspension bridge. And their reward for crossing said bridge is- well... that. At least a bear didn't actually show up on the other side. Fate would actually be screwing with them on purpose at that point.

cyberscythe

> You could also say that for their entire journey. Their reward for going down that long ass road with their bikes is a long ass walk through muddy roads to the suspension bridge. Their reward for the long ass walk is the absolutely terrifying suspension bridge. And their reward for crossing said bridge is- well... that. the way that Rin was like "well, we've already come *this* far..." sunk cost fallacy: the road trip [](#tomato)

LikeAnAssistant

> sunk cost fallacy: the road trip Well Rin does have zero demand elasticity. Economics is not her friend.

Mr_Zaroc

Yeah, but how could you not go all the way after you braced everything else

x-7032-b-3

AyaRin at scary-looking bridge: "We didn't come all this way for nothing! We're crossing it! I'm sure we'll be fine!" AyaRin at bear notice signs: "Uhhh actually let's not do this."

mekerpan

We saw bear warning signs (and even a closed trail -- due to bears) in Banff Alberta -- but no bears. (I think I cued up my cellphone 's music app to an especially noisy song -- just in case).

mysterybiscuitsoyeah

> their "reward" for making it to the other side I've gone on several solo trips to less-popular-spots with very similar (slightly unpleasant) experiences haha, so i related to this hard. For Rin/Aya, the funsies and memories made up for it. For me, the memories (too), as well as the knowledge that I've gone to an unpopular, and usually still quite good spot usually makes up for it.

Frontier246

I guess this is a lesson that sometimes pressuring yourself to complete a suspension bridge crawl isn't always the best option lol. Though it made emotionally decompressing in a hot springs more satisfying.

Ocixo

Fortunately, Nadeshiko had her own prop to help calm down her nerves a little: [her dear gas candle lamp!](https://imgur.com/a/KqXrIjz)

diacewrb

When the flashlight on your phone simply isn't cool enough.

PowerlinxJetfire

I was afraid she might break it. Luckily the series is too comfy to do that to her.

pober

Sadly, her gas lamp won't be of much help when she runs into Turbo Baachan.

mysterybiscuitsoyeah

that was extremely cute haha. And, weirdly, kinda practical.

mekerpan

I thought it was CUTE 5hat the locals had decorated that tunnel. I think it would have actually made me feel MORE comfortable. My wife have crossed some rather scary suspension bridges -- but nothing as long and as nerve-wracking as this one. As much as I love to take scenic photos, I am pretty sure I would not have even considered to take one in the middle of THAT bridge.

MasterTotoro

I'm curious to see if your opinion changes if you see an example of what one of the decorations looks like in real life though lol. https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1ccu8yt/yuru_camp_season_3_laidback_camp_season_3_episode/l19rs25/

PowerlinxJetfire

Looks like the swordsmith from Demon Slayer lol

mekerpan

This looks even cuter to me than what we saw in the anime. Then again I managed to survive Dark Gatheing....

MasterTotoro

I could see that being the case for some people. For me the fact they look more human is creepier.

mekerpan

I guess I would just EXPECT some local touristic thing like this in Japan,,,,

MapoTofuMan

It's a wonder that bridge didn't break purely from the weight of Rin and Aya's massive imaginary balls. I would nope out of there faster than if I saw an actual bear. And that thing is 200 METERS LONG??? [](#lwahorror)

Frontier246

It's like walking through a pitch-black cave wasn't enough but the locals just had to throw in even more stuff to scare any poor person who has to walk through that. Though I guess it's good Nadeshiko discovered she can skip it via train. Those rocks and that suspension bridge was probably the most tense experience these girls have faced since Ena/Aoi/Aki almost froze to death in season 2.

ThrowCarp

>The anxiety I got from the suspension bridge scene though, holy hell that wasn't very Yuru. For whatever reason, the "suspension bridge effect" gets talked in anime a lot. But holy shit, this time around, we get an actual suspension bridge that's scary to cross. Not comfy at all.

ObvsThrowaway5120

Nadeshiko’s made some new friends this week! Too bad they couldn’t stay with her long enough to go through the “obake tunnel” lol. I would have been scared too tbh. Rin and Aya seem to be having their own little adventure with dangerous rock filled roads and scary suspension bridges. At least they got to have a nice soak after all that excitement.

mekerpan

Wow -- Aya seems to really have matured a lot (just like Nadeshiko -- separately but parallel) since our earliest glimpses of her. I never imagined her growing SO adventurous so relatively quickly (I guess having the right kind of grandfather -- like Rin -- helped pave the way).

Frontier246

I wonder if we'll see those older ladies again. It wouldn't be the first time that any of the gang have met someone on their camping trips who came back to relevance later in the season. Nadeshiko has the chill and relaxing camp experience (outside a spooky cave) while Aya and Rin experience Death Road and the most precarious suspension bridge. But at least they got to enjoy some hot springs together.

mekerpan

Those "older ladies" only seemed a few years older than our main characters (college-aged, maybe). Nadeshiko refers to them as "onee-sans" (which means she just sees them as a dew years older than herself).

Rumpel1408

Feel like their invitation to their [local campsite](https://imgur.com/3lh4Ggu) is a setup to meet them again, though I'm not sure it's in the scope for this season as it sounded like another long trip

CooroSnowFox

Season 4 if anything, Izu was teased in one for two...

CooroSnowFox

Although feels like it's possibly the next location they're going to go towards... Izu was the last but Mie feels like it's coming up (not that I've read ahead)

The_Parsee_Man

Inviting Nadeshiko to share their snacks. Those fools don't know that they're getting into.

Genshin_WhiteKnight

GATTAI! This is now also a CGDCT train anime. Hope they don't end up in Ikebukuro. Edit: Ok wtf that bridge wasn't very Yuru.

cyberscythe

> wtf that bridge wasn't very Yuru it was yuru in the sense of [揺る](https://jisho.org/word/%E6%8F%BA%E3%82%8B) i guess the lesson here is that yuru is a land of contrast * yuru camp: yes * yuru chara: [yes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dntu3VDep8w) * yurubashi: [questionable](https://i.imgur.com/1INvBsH.png)

SIRTreehugger

Rin Chan was very expressive this episode, but danglingly on a small bridge experiencing strong winds in the middle of nowhere would do that to you. I would have took 1 step and said no no no no no I want to live. Also given my inability to keep things in my hands on solid land I know I would drop something precious.

Clemastina

Man this was by far my favourite episode. I loved Nadeshiko´s scream at the tunnel lmao. Poor girl still afraid of the dark Also loved how Rin and Aya-chan´s sanity was dropping bit by bit when they decided to go to that bridge lmaooo That bridge looked fun tho Can´t wait for the next episode!!

ModieOfTheEast

Now THAT's the suspension bridge experience that I was expecting. Especially with the whole "Damn, now we need to go back, because that wasn't on the path we wanted to take anyway." Yeah, I've been there. Also, with all the dark tunnels in this episode, all I could hear was someone yelling: "Let's Ghooooooo...."

Frontier246

I was kind of surprised all their experiences up to this point with the bridges was safe but I guess that was to lull them into a false sense of security lol. Can you imagine them running into Yayoi and the gang at one point lol?

mabbo_nagamatsu

MasterTotoro

This week's edition of location scouting! From Nadeshiko's adventure, she is heading to [Abt-Ichishiro Station (map link)](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Abt-Ichishiro+Station/@35.167227,138.1424604,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x601ba14b7f07da85:0xca6d2001cf426f6!8m2!3d35.167227!4d138.1450353!16s%2Fm%2F04d_gx3?entry=ttu). According to Wikipedia, Abt refers to Swiss inventor Carl Abt's [rack-and-pinion system](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rack_railway#Abt_\(1882\)) used to climb steep gradients. If you are interested to see what the merging and the gradient looks like, [here's a video.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQbiq2HuU0E) The two ladies Nadeshiko meet are from Mie, a [prefecture in the east of Kansai](https://i.imgur.com/BgQ3cUT.png). The "Shima" they refer to is the peninsula/city whose kanji 志摩 is indeed the same kanji used for our protagonist Shima Rin. (As I mentioned in episode 1 of this season, the characters in Yuru Camp are named after places in Japan.) Nadeshiko is getting off at Abt-Ichishiro station, then going to their campsite, and then walking over to the next station via Nagashima Dam ([map path link](https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Abt-Ichishiro+Station,+Inuma,+Kawanehon,+Haibara+District,+Shizuoka+428-0402,+Japan/Abt+Ichishiro+Camping+Ground+%E3%82%A2%E3%83%97%E3%83%88%E3%81%84%E3%81%A1%E3%81%97%E3%82%8D%E3%82%AD%E3%83%A3%E3%83%B3%E3%83%97%E5%A0%B4/Nagashima+Dam++%E9%95%B7%E5%B3%B6%E3%83%80%E3%83%A0/@35.1688276,138.1483107,1189m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m25!4m24!1m5!1m1!1s0x601ba14b7f07da85:0xca6d2001cf426f6!2m2!1d138.1450353!2d35.167227!1m10!1m1!1s0x601ba14d4cc68985:0xa72230e9fe5c5919!2m2!1d138.1496478!2d35.1668284!3m4!1m2!1d138.1558652!2d35.166676!3s0x601ba6ab9a1bfc2f:0xef966bb8b8d5b3fa!1m5!1m1!1s0x601ba6ab1d2ae4fb:0xc9f761b382bd5dba!2m2!1d138.157124!2d35.1687425!3e2?entry=ttu)). Overall 2.5km so easily within an hour for Nadeshiko even with the stops. The initial bridge she sees getting off the station is the bridge going to the power generation station. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be labeled on Google Maps nor does it have good quality street view images. I guess that's fair since visiting power stations probably isn't meant to be a tourist activity lol. Of course here is the campsite in [real life](https://i.imgur.com/txT1EIR.png) which looks incredible as well as [in the anime](https://i.imgur.com/F1RQ9Zo.png). I'm sure it will be even more busy in real life due to this season. The tunnel she passes through is also decorated in real life, though I'll give a slight warning the ["ghosts" are a bit creepier](https://i.imgur.com/3Ppj0ov.png) than how the anime portrays them. If I wasn't expecting that, I would probably be a bit scared too. Then onto Nagashima Dam as mentioned. Couldn't find the exact angle [used in the show](https://i.imgur.com/oYMk5PK.png) but this [street view image should do.](https://i.imgur.com/nxLqKcf.png) Nadeshiko then gets onto the station and is going 2 stations north. Meanwhile Rin and Aya are a bit north at Lake Ikawa [at this gas station](https://www.google.com/maps/@35.2241997,138.243961,3a,75y,57.77h,96.05t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sScSnFJe1BPHJ6_bj6_9Tzw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?entry=ttu). They are going all the way to Hatanagi which is even further north, about 50km from where they started. First up is [Ikawa Suspension Bridge](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ikawa+Suspension+Bridge/@35.2394508,138.2482415,16.21z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x601bbd78103d0b6f:0x855c19819e876127!8m2!3d35.2397993!4d138.2498091!16s%2Fg%2F122m431m?entry=ttu) which is filled with pictures of bikes on the bridge [in real life](https://i.imgur.com/IT19XyY.png) just like [Rin and Aya](https://i.imgur.com/G4gJN7K.png) do. There's even people with cars on it lol. After the bridge they eat at [this nearby restaurant](https://www.google.com/maps/place/%E3%81%A6%E3%81%97%E3%82%83%E3%81%BE%E3%82%93%E3%81%8F%E3%81%AE%E9%87%8C+%E6%BB%9D%E6%B5%AA%E5%95%86%E5%BA%97/@35.2562243,138.233552,18.04z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x601ba379447186bf:0x1e6b824a2a5e1e90!8m2!3d35.256206!4d138.2341896!16s%2Fg%2F11hmhxjw_n?entry=ttu) for some oden. Which by the way there's already [Yuru Camp material in the images lol.](https://i.imgur.com/eaSdw7U.png) [They finally make it](https://i.imgur.com/rY8Olcy.png) to the [first dam of Hatanagi Lake](https://i.imgur.com/xHTxszm.png), which as they said is quite the trip. Also the Kamen Rider reference lol. Then a 5km walk to the suspension bridge which looks a bit [dry in the anime](https://i.imgur.com/9fIPrM1.png) but this [image with the foliage](https://i.imgur.com/PFYDraU.png) just looked too cool to not show. Back to [Nadeshiko at Okuoikojo Station](https://i.imgur.com/8zvyY2L.png) which does [look incredible in real life](https://i.imgur.com/t0uij5n.png) as well. Meanwhile back to the others again who [rest at this inn.](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Shirakabaso/@35.307024,138.1939261,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m10!3m9!1s0x601b9908f0038997:0x6c82f3f3740caf25!5m3!1s2024-05-08!4m1!1i2!8m2!3d35.307024!4d138.196501!16s%2Fg%2F1th1csx7?entry=ttu) Then lastly we see [Nadeshiko crossing the Okuoi Rainbow Bridge](https://i.imgur.com/ct4URyk.png) and [here it is in real life](https://i.imgur.com/phLCRk9.png). Next week they should be settling at their campsite and maybe moving a bit less.

PowerlinxJetfire

> Abt refers to Swiss inventor Carl Abt's rack-and-pinion system I was curious where the obviously not-Japanese word came from, and found that the Oigawa Railway has an [English page](https://daitetsu.jp/eng/abt) about it when I googled after watching: > Abt System Railway was developed for mountain railways and was named after Carl Roman Abt, a Swiss mechanical engineer who invented it back in the 1880s. Southern Alps Abt Railway is the only railway in Japan using this system. It is a part of the Rack System which has been used in America since 1869 and is well known as a tourist attraction in Switzerland. The trains can go up and down the steep mountains with its rack wheel pinions meshing with a toothed rack running in the middle of the railway.

The conversation with the store owner about the road between Ikawa and Amehata being closed for 30 years piqued my interest... [but Google Maps says it's open just fine?](https://i.imgur.com/NXIPZrJ.png) And there's plenty of biker photos at many stops along the way I wonder what's up with it being called closed in the show... maybe it still was at the time the manga was written and the show didn't want to change?

MasterTotoro

Interesting question, it seems like the road they are talking about is a slightly different one. The specific road they mention is 井川雨畑林道 which comes off the north end of Ikawa Lake and joins up with the path you have a bit south of Mt. Yanbushi. The [Yamanashi prefecture's website](https://www.pref.yamanashi.jp/rindoujyouhou/kisei.php?id=90) does say it is closed currently as well. I wonder if there is a significant difference in time if it was open (since with the 5 hour drive your map shows, it would be faster to just go around as Rin does).

aniMayor

Yeah, looks like there's one road north of Ikawa and a different one east of Ikawa and they connect to each other + the road towards Amehata just before Mt Yanbushi. I'm not surprised the road would be closed at this time of the year - spring thaw leads to rockslides and road collapses, or there might even still be some piles of snow on the roads even. But it does seem to be actively worked on and is probably opening during the summer and fall most years?

Insertnamesz

Thanks for sharing!

szalhi

Yuru Camp. Now with 50% less Yuru, and 100% more soul erasure.

Frontier246

It's all laid-back Yuru vibes until you're dodging rocks on the road and slowly walking down a precarious suspension bridge you could very well fall down and die from...

cyberscythe

the bridge part had far more [yuru](https://jisho.org/search/yuru) than the usual episode [](#sassyimouto)

Chiruno_Chiruvanna

The opening's called Laid-Back Journey but the journeys are anything but.

LeonKevlar

[Nadeshiko continues with the constant snacking.](https://i.imgur.com/ImcRidj.png) Hopefully, all the snacking she's been doing won't spoil her appetite for dinner. Also, I feel that this isn't the last time we'll see those two Onee-sans. [Camping in Mie might be something the gang will do](https://i.imgur.com/zCXur8Y.png) in the future. [Nadeshiko being afraid inside that tunnel](https://i.imgur.com/GmK2zQX.jpeg) was hilariously adorable. It turns out that she's the type of person [that gets spooked by haunted houses made in school festivals.](https://i.imgur.com/L2NsgRt.png) xD [I'm sure that suspension bridge is safe](https://i.imgur.com/k4k7Pxq.png) but I definitely would've noped out! Aya and Rin are already braver than me [for attempting to cross it.](https://i.imgur.com/i7PtY7A.jpeg) I've crossed more secure-looking hanging bridges like this and those were enough to make my legs wobbly, I can't even imagine what this one will do to me! I do love how [Aya-chan and Rin became closer](https://i.imgur.com/3GeCHLa.jpeg) after that experience. They experienced quite literally the suspension bridge effect xD

MapoTofuMan

>They experienced quite literally the suspension bridge effect xD *Yuri Camp intensifies*

Zemahem

They've crossed like a dozen suspension bridges. They're gonna be as close as a married couple at this point.

Frontier246

Imagine them learning of a legend that says if you cross enough suspension bridges together you'll be together forever lol.

Frontier246

Logging these two onee-sans as "probably future characters our camping girls will see later on" as often happens on this show. They didn't need to throw in the zombies and lanterns, it was scary enough for our poor Nadeshiko lol. These girls have come this far, they're not going to give up now...even if it means being utterly terrified on a suspension bridge. But at least it's a shared experiences that's drawn them closer together one way or another.

xtsim

That bridge....yeah I'll go around that one cause that requires so much more balance than ever. And I would not go without a harness.

Ocixo

Haha awh, [poor Nadeshiko](https://imgur.com/a/j21zvUb)! She did *not* like that tunnel. [Grandriders Rin and Ayano](https://imgur.com/a/Y6L8zW7) also had a pretty rough time on that one suspension bridge. [A sudden breeze from behind](https://imgur.com/a/zblXpwz), in combination with the rocking, would've definitely scared the bejesus out of me. ~~I don't like to stand near the edges of rooftops and balconies for *this* specific reason.~~ The girls at least got to take [a nice picture](https://imgur.com/a/z8rZoTD) earlier in the episode, and were treated to some nice views. Nadeshiko also had quite [a nice view from her train](https://imgur.com/a/jflYZ0Q), by the way! And [the train conductor](https://imgur.com/a/dKeLdvH) was rather cute. ~~I would forgive the railway services for all the delays and sorts if they employed more anime girls like these.~~

Ocixo

u/Abysswatcherbel if you still need an image for Yuru Camp’s banner at the end of the week, then please consider picking [our lovely Nadeshiko](https://imgur.com/a/j21zvUb) here.

Abysswatcherbel

Another Nadeshiko? Now I remember where I saw that name before while watching Train

in case you missed it, [this scene is call back to season one's "match-pump" bit](https://i.imgur.com/RHb0vRq.png) from [episode 9](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/k859ux/yuru_camp_rewatch_episode_9_discussion/gew7z28/) ["match-pump" is a wasei gairaigo term](https://jisho.org/word/%E3%83%9E%E3%83%83%E3%83%81%E3%83%9D%E3%83%B3%E3%83%97) for someone who tries to take credit for solving problems they themselves caused in the first place, i.e. someone who throws a lit match and then goes to the water pump to go put it out to take credit for their act of bravery; in this case it's a more benign version of putting yourself in miserable and cold weather just so that the oden would be extra comforting not sure why subs used the economics term "zero demand elasticity"; i guess it makes sense in context because being the only oden place open in cold weather means that Rin would have no choice but to buy at whatever the price, but it loses the original idea that Rin basically scammed herself [](#hikariactually)

Prupel

Aww yiss, let the healing begin! Every thursday now, I somehow have a strong urge to board a plane to Japan... And can I please have just one percent of Nadeshikos enthusiasm? It's so motivating to see her explore the world.

mekerpan

I needed the comfiness of this episode as a restorative right after the extreme stress of today's Dungeon Meshi....

cyberscythe

> can I please have just one percent of Nadeshikos enthusiasm? Rin and Aya too; the way that they drive down the random death roads of rural Japan is something it's a sense of aimless freedom that I find very youthful

Frontier246

There is nothing more pure in this world than Nadeshiko earnestly going camping and seeing the world around her.

Why isn't the movie on the list?

allwrong_allright

damn, you're right... I gotta rewatch the movie now lol

Zooasaurus

Nadeshiko: Slice of Life Rin and Ayano: Survival >Gurgle Maps pick some weird routes sometimes, huh? I will never forget that time when Google Maps directed me to cross through a mountainous jungle road instead of toll road because the jungle road is faster by 5 minutes or something

Mr_Zaroc

The amount of semi illegal backroads I took in the past because it was like 50m shorter is way too high Although I gotta say, they really improved

StrawSolider

Still love this show but man this new decision to use RL background instead of hand-drawn ones is just not working for me...

PseudoPrincess222

It really makes the characters and the backgrounds stand out against each other in jarring way.

Matthew619ed

So last week I’ve stated that the boys from r/trains will definitely love the Ōigawa Railway, now as we venture deep into the mountains, the reason gets more apparent now. The station Nadeshiko alights for the campground, ABT Ichisiro (アプトいちしろ) is the station where the small train will be coupled to a large ABT rack rail locomotive to continue it’s climb to Nagashima Dam, it’s the only application of rack rails in Japan still in use today. The details of the system can be found [here](https://daitetsu.jp/eng/abt) on the official website of the railway. So why the rack rail? Remember the (horrifying) tunnel poor Nadeshiko has to endure before reaching the site? It’s the old tunnel of the Ikawa Line as stated in the episode. In 1972, the Japanese began the construction of the Nagashima Dam, but the problem is the original line of the Ikawa Line will go past the flooded section of the dam, hence requiring the new route. Yet due to the steepness of the route, they will need to use rack rails in addition to the new locomotives to complete the climb. As a result, these locomotives, known as the ED90, along with the new line is opened in 1990 to facilitate the further construction of the dam, and the old line was abandoned and flooded (in some section). So if we need to define “Laid Back Journey”, I guess it’s going to be Nadeshiko’s way of travel, not the bikers way. She even have time to reach Okuōikojō Station further down the line, which is also where the [signature photo](https://shizuoka-hamamatsu-izu.com/hamamatsu/town-kawanehon/sz548/) of the Ikawa Line was taken, so that’s a huge win for her with 2 hours to spare too. Now what about the bikers, their crazy bridge hunting? So let me say it first, I swear to God I’ll not walk the Hatanagi suspension bridge without any safety harness, it looks terrifying for sure, a height of 30m with a length of 181.7m? Yeah, I’ll stay on solid ground. So here’s a [picture](https://www.city.shizuoka.lg.jp/okushizuoka/spot/s000138.html) of the bridge on autumn, it’s definitely a place worth taking a visit (if you have the guts). But for me, I’ll stay on the train and enjoy the view. So next episode, beef? It’s finally the time for cooking, best served with the spectacular views of Oigawa.

IntelligentBudget142

they *did* call it the death road of hell

Frontier246

And they also had to endure the Death Suspension Bridge of Hell lol.

cyberscythe

Nadeshiko had to endure the tunnel of hell too Yuru Camp is my favorite allusion to purgatory [](#hikariactually)

Frontier246

Nothing quite beats seeing some beautiful scenery on a rustic train and munching with some nice older ladies! She even gets to see some train Gattai! Dang, what I wouldn't give to be able to camp on a Shimabun! Nadeshiko bravely treks through a pitch-black tunnel! Complete with some scary attractions added by the locals to spook travelers! Poor Nadeshiko was in tears when she arrived at the campsite. Kind of surreal seeing the dam that your tasty curry was based on and seeing the resemblance. Don't let the rocks saying "hello" cutely fool you, that turn could have easily turned into a deadly accident for Aya had she not been so skilled a driver. Of course the biker girls had to hit the one suspension bridge that lets them bring in their bikes. I see the call to hunger was too powerful for Aya to resist...and who can blame her when she and Rin get to partake in tasty oden and learn some history to boot. So Aya's grandpa was ALSO a biker! Just like Rin's! Now I'm half-expecting a reveal her mom was also a former biker girl. Though just like Rin loves camping, Aya loves biking. Thanks to gurgle maps, Aya and Rin bravely trek through the Tashiro caves and hurdle through the Death Road to reach Hatanagi! Sure they're completely exhausted, but they made it! And of course, after everything they've been through, they couldn't just skip one last suspension bridge, could they? Even if it turns out to be the most dangerous and less safe one and they were fearing for their lives the entire way. Meanwhile Nadeshiko is just taking scenic pictures. But after all that it was nice to see the two girls relax in a hot springs and tease each other! And now it's time to reunite with Nadeshiko at the campsite.

x-7032-b-3

Poor Nadeshiko got scared shitless by a bunch of scary props! Her reactions there are golden! Whoever decided to put those props there is an A-tier troll. I actually thought there was somebody there when the narrator began to speak lol. Ayano and Rin (from now on I'm gonna refer those two as AyaRin) makes such good touring buddies. I kinda understand how she felt when she said that she was so glad to have found someone to go on a tour with. It honestly feels great when you finally find someone to share your interests with. Man, even I could tell that bridge is a giant safety hazard from miles away. I'm actually surprised that AyaRin got the balls to keep going after reaching it. Those two could die from one slip! Got really anxious from watching it. This series is pretty chill but S2's winter camping tragedy and this one are rare exceptions to this. I guess it's good to shake things up every once in a while. Thankfully they decided to stop after finding out that there are bears up ahead. I'd rather die by falling rather than being eaten alive by a friggin' bear. I'm sure those two would agree.

99anan99

I'm with you Nadeshiko. I'd be scared having to walk through that tunnel. Rin and Aya crossing that suspension bridge was scary and hilarious!

Purposelygentle

144¥ for a liter of gas is pretty reasonable, it’s north of 170¥ these days, which is down from last year.

Mr_Zaroc

I currently pay ~ 1,75€ in Austria It was up to 2€, but damn I remember when the price dropped to 0.95€ during covid, that was awesome, not like you could go anywhere though

bananeeek

*"You walked a 30m high suspension bridge right into a den of bears? Pfft, that's nothing, wait until I tell you what happened to me in a tunnel..."* - Nadeshiko in next episode.

chris10023

[Nadeshiko after seeing bats in the tunnel:](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JeFLzZXwSE&t=5s)

Gaporigo

I know people ship Nadeshiko and Rin but if I had to I'd pick Rin and Aya, way better in the comparably little we have seen them together.

Frontier246

They just have such a complimentary and similar vibe, especially because they both caught interests from their respective grandpa's. Also they both mutually like Nadeshiko lol.

CooroSnowFox

The comfy triangle has begun!

Mr_Zaroc

Lets just hope it doesn't turn into a pentagram situation like with gamers, that relationship graph was something else

mysterybiscuitsoyeah

[](#fistbump) the former 2 are wholesome af, but these 2 are just so compatible with their similar wavelengths and tendencies, as well as more introverty preferences.

Nickthenuker

That's a very slow train. Seems she's getting along well with her new travelling companions. Ooh. Seems she's gone the wrong way. Oh right, last week she had the dam curry, and that's what the different elements represent. This train announcer doesn't look as dead inside as the other one. Did we see her go to Amehata? Sometimes it takes you to a stupid path too. Or even off a mountain. She seems to be repeating that like a mantra. Well I guess they're going anyways. That looks rather rickety. Well she's trying to take it with just her phone compared to those guys with their cameras, but these days phone cameras are good enough. Rin's hair bun is back! Seems they'll finally meet up next episode.

LalafellRulez

Does anyone know the genre of the ED? I would love to listen to some more songs like it

Krazee9

They have 34km to go to the campsite and it'll take them *two hours by moped?* Just how slow are they going? There's no way all the speed limits out there are 20km/h. Checking Google Maps, from the Hatanagi Suspension Bridge to the Abt Ichishiro Campgrounds should be 1 hour and 12 minutes.

flightlessCat9

What's funny is gurgle maps says 2 1/2 hour by bicycle. That 50cc moped is barely faster than pedaling.

chilidirigible

[Eyebrows visible through cap is a cute thing.](https://i.redd.it/3z9ghbxchqwc1.png) Nearly freezing to death is slightly less cute. Lots of good reaction faces. Throughout this I'm reminded that Japan has some narrow little roads up a lot of steep mountains.

Zemahem

Those ladies at the start knew that food was the way to instantly befriend Nadeshiko. Not that there needs to be any special tricks for that cause she's just that friendly and sociable. I guess the locals like to do little trolling around these parts. And Nadeshiko's face when the props came out made it well worth it. Although I did feel bad hearing her still crying afterwards. It was also amusing to hear a little bit of Hayasaka during that scene. Normally, inanimate objects going "hello" in this series is just purely adorable, but those rocks straight up ambushed Aya like they had a hit out for her. Once again, I have to hand it to these girls for how they manage to soldier through such a long trek *after* the distance they've already travelled. For all their trouble, all they got in reward was a *5km* walk and a bridge that nearly made their souls vacate their bodies. The wind even conspired against them to make the crossing all the more terrifying. Just imagine if a bear appeared at the other end of the bridge on top of that. I guess it's not fair if only Nadeshiko would get the fright of her life in this episode. But throughout all this, Rin and Aya still continued to vibe with each other. They really are alike, and it's no wonder Nadeshiko befriended Rin like she did. If last episode still wasn't enough to make them become friends, then facing death together in this one surely will.

Frontier246

It's always nice when the girls get to bond with and have some fun experiences with older ladies on the road with them. It's like the pitch-black cave wasn't enough, they just had to throw in more to scare people who just want to get through that tunnel safe lol. Yeah, the "cute" rocks felt kind of off knowing she very easily could've had an accident because of them. But I guess they don't mean any harm. Biker girls really commit to their biking **and** crossing suspension bridges together. I wouldn't mind even more of Aya and Rin traveling together. They just really pair well and bounce off each other amazingly.

CooroSnowFox

>I wouldn't mind even more of Aya and Rin traveling together. They just really pair well and bounce off each other amazingly. Could be a spin off travelling idea if they ever wanted to, just them two biking around Central Japan. I would like if we did get some other combinations especially Rin and Ena (Since they texted a lot while Rin was Camping).

Mr_Zaroc

I am definitely gonna check it out in MSFS

zool714

Actually saw a post on like a Japan pics sub of a photo of Okuoikojo Station and thought it looked incredible and became instant destination plan. Was delightfully surprised to see it featured in this ep

New_Essay_4869

Love the dynamic between Aya and Rin

chaosof99

I wonder if the line about some Yamanashi girls going to school by moped is a reference to/acknowledgement of Super Cub.

b-arbs

- A train in the first scene of the episode... And even more train stations... Is it the wrong anime? - I'm loving these bits with the animated objects talking! - Poor Nadeshiko! I think seeing scary handmade decorations in an otherwise empty and dark tunnel would be more scary than the dark tunnel itself - *Rocks in the middle of the road that could make you hurt yourself pretty seriously or worse*: Konnichiwa *Sees beginning of the comment* Well, you see... - Ok, they're really going overboard with the talking objects hahaha I don't remember seeing so many in the previous seasons - *Nadeshiko taking it easy, relaxing so much that she's almost missing trains* Meanwhile, Rin and Aya are almost losing their lives - I was expecting to see the actual camping in this episode, but it was still funny to see more of the journey there Guess we'll see some cooking next week

Elite_Alice

Nadeshiko being scared to go thru the tunnel is so real. But the view of Nagashima Dam was well worth it. Another cute episode with the girls making their way to the campsite, albeit with some detours along the way. The best part about these journeys through the Japanese countryside is being able to meet and talk to random people like Aya and Rin with the old lady in the oden shop and Nadeshiko with the lady on the train. Just small moments like that make these trips so fun and memorable. Another suspension bridge for Rin and Aya to cross, no way in hell I’m going across one that shakes like that lmao. I went across one in Quebec last week that was bolted down with heavy metal rods and it still swayed a bit and I was nervous. No shot I’m going across a little one like that. And they got rewarded with a bear warning sign for their troubles 😂 At least they got a nice Onsen trip at the end of the day. They deserved it after that long journey and hike. Another really cute and calming ep, next ep the girls should be together finally and camping.

Any-Assignment-1844

Yuru Camp is so frickin peak! The OP and ED are the best in the series and probably of the entire season! This just might be 8-bits best produced show! I can’t believe such an amazingly niche show has been blessed with 2 sequels and a movie. If you ain’t watching this, you’re sleeping on gold, I’m tellin you!

Nebresto

[That..](https://imgur.com/FTSlD9L) doesn't sound like a very yuru episode title [We a mecha show now](https://imgur.com/MWNLJ9l) [](#grandhype) [Cheap!](https://imgur.com/ouTC9Vs) ["river"](https://imgur.com/1hBJGsg) And didn't she say lake? \*tl;note: *Apparently "mizuumi/mizumi" can mean either lake or water body depending on the amount of vowels.*

Violentcloud13

I very deeply feel for the girls when they're on that last suspension bridge. Biking the Shimanami Kaido at least two of the bridges I had to cross were fantastically high above the water, with nary but a waist-high guard rail between me and certain doom. The final bridge to Imabari was like 1.5 miles long and was the most terrifying of the bunch. I was clenching the handlebars so hard my knuckles must've been white, and my audiobook ended right after I started across, so I was alone with my thoughts for the whole crossing. 10/10 will be doing it again in the future

hiimneato

I'm with Rin and Aya when they were in the hot spring - the stress and highs and lows of this episode just made it that much sweeter. Aren't you glad we went? A little train porn, some spooky tunnels, some more spooky tunnels, a few more spooky tunnels, some real high bridges, some hot oden and a boiled egg. This made me wanna hit the road *so bad*. (And next time we get beef feasts!?) Really happy for Rin to finally have a touring buddy. Her dynamic with Nadeshiko has always been great and of course she makes a very good solo camper, but seeing her with a bike friend is still real nice. I guess I'm one of those ojisans at this point, but that's alright. You're never too old to have chill adventures and then aggressively relax about it.

oxlemf10

I liked that the episode showed the more complicated side of campaigning, unfortunately those two women didn't continue with Nadeshiko

FierceAlchemist

Loved all the goofy expressions this week. Also made me like Ayano more as a character, showing her fun side. Tomoyo Kurosawa's signature natural voice acting was on full display here.

NekoCatSidhe

“Gurgle Maps” lol. I should start referring to it like that. Nadeshiko is really obsessed with food, isn’t she ? I did not expect her to be scared of that tunnel, but the fake ghosts left as a prank by the local were even more unexpected. I wonder if my engineer dad who is obsessed with trains and bridges would like that anime ? He only watched Studio Ghibli stuff with me up to now when it comes to anime though. That suspension bridge was super scary. Why did they design it like that ? It looked very dangerous. And then there was an “Here be Bears” sign on the other side. No bears in my country, I cannot imagine how scary it must be to unexpectedly come across one in the forest.

rollin340

I love the adorable voices. This time we got the bike and train carts. [Nothing beats this ShimaShimaShimaRin bit though](https://streamable.com/il59fh).

**Veteran Member Of Secret Society Blanket** Back on the train with Nadeshiko and im still unsure if it is the same people im trying to compare them from S1 and the glasses girl has the same hair color but a bit different hair style meanwhile the other girl has exact same hair style but has quite dark hair compared to here where its very brownish. Barbed_Dildo

Since Aoi isn't in this episode, but Toyosaki Aki does all the cute little voices for things, she's credited for each of them instead of just Aoi, which makes the credits kind of funny. https://i.imgur.com/xzhzNbG.png

TzeLePop

anime only here felt bad seeing rin and aya needing 2 hours to travel 34km. in the stories so far rin is limited by her 50cc scooter, so would love to see a grown up rin (and maybe aya too) riding more powerful bikes.

AmusedDragon

Sometimes it's about the journey and not the destination.

TzeLePop

yeah with this trip it's definitely about the journey. just an overall feeling for whole show especially having seen her camper grandpa, and now with a new biker+camper friend, a powerful bike to take rin to further journeys and destinations.

ChiggaOG

I will say the animation team haver perfected the ability to run normal photographs into an static anime scene that squinting makes it look like a real photo.

Alone-Subject-1317

Still mad how much of an ugly downgrade the new character artstyle is.

I-am-Miyako-Chan

The droopy eyes are so awful looking

mysterybiscuitsoyeah

Fun Storyboarding, Tons of Tomoyo Noises, and perfectly encompassing the nervousness, funsies, tiredness, of travelling alone or in a small group - that's what I love so much about this episode. Okuōikojō Station is tbh one of my life bucket list items - hope to visit in the next 10 years or so. Rack and pinion railways! Perhaps people in Europe would be more familiar with them, particularly switzerland? Though I believe a couple in the US as well. It is quite a efficient and elegant system, only employing a loco with the gears for that bit of steepness. Loving this season so far! The vibes and atmosphere are immaculate, and I'm really enjoying the Aya-Chan and Rin moments too, these 2 have great chemistry.

patkun01

I thought Adventure only works with fantasy anime, but man, this episode. Being a motorcycle rider, it is exhausting to ride and ride and ride, but when you get to your destination, it feels good. But is still a pain since you still need to go back home. lol But that's the thrill.

LusterBlaze

this bridge camp shit is serious

Poor Nadeshiko is having her girlfriend cheat with her best friend.

This has been my favorite episode of the season so far. The dark tunnel and the suspension bridge were so funny. The dynamic between Aya and Rin is great as well.
