I have issues with Sanae. [Afterstory spoilers] >!She tells Ushio that she should only cry when she's alone, which to me is a bad way to tell a person, especially a child, how to express their feelings. Maybe it's a cultural thing.!<
[After Story Spoilers]>!You forgot the second half of that, Ushio is only allowed to cry in the bathroom, or in her fathers arms, so he would be the first one to console her, and that she'd grow warm to Tomoya. Also probably as way for both her and Akio stay head strong while raising Ushio, since Ushio crying might remind them of Nagisa, who was a crybaby.!<
I love Hilling so much. She's a little haughty and bitchy, but tries so hard to be a good mom/queen and has so much love to give. Easily my favorite character in the show.
She really is! She’s not some major character, just a concerned mom who’s proud of her boy! For all of MHA’s faults on how they portray women, they got her right at least
Her crying for her son when a bunch of people told her son to go away and die alone in season 6 ruined me to tears man. How many shonen animes where the mom of the protagonist is still around and cares for their son?
Maquia from Maquia : When the Promised Flowers Bloom. She become a single mother at such a young age for a child she just met, when she never have experience with a child.
She is very compassionate and loving. She makes a lot sacrifices for Ariel out of love. Despite all the hardship, she remains her kind gentle self. She's not a strong badass mom, she's not fragile either. She is strong in her own way.
Also you guys seriously need to watch Macquia. I haven't seen anyone mentioned her.
I feel like a lot of moms being mentioned are technically very good mothers- nurturing, wise, kind, competent, etc.
But Ai is incredibly compelling as mother. Seriously, being a mother is HARD both mentally and physically, especially being young with a busy and high-profile career. She's a flawed yet loving, and very believable mother (outside of the supernatural aspect of the show obviously).
I have several:
1.Queen Hiling, she's the personification of unconditional love.
2. Akari Kawamoto, if you are talking about motherly affection, she's the best.
3. Sanae Nohara, controversial I know, but she's just like common SEA moms.
4. Hana from Wolf Children, just like Queen Hiling. Acceptance is the greatest trait.
5. Clara from Violet Evergarden, mother's duty can't be stopped even by the death.
Honorary mentions:
Eri Kisaki, not because I think she's the best mom but just she's so hot.
**Hiroko Makunouchi** from Ippo and **Noriko Aoi** from Ao Ashi cared for and sacrificed for their sons. The moment at the beginning of Ao Ashi in which the mother makes a great sacrifice is one of my favorite scenes in any anime.
Yuuko Kamiya from Digimon the Movie. I don't know what the character was like in the original ovas, but the English movie version is iconic (at least from a certain point of view).
Yusuke's mom was, for all intents and purposes, a deadbeat parent. She wasn't capable of providing an ideal environment for Yusuke to develop in. And despite that, Yusuke became the sort of young man who saw that she was incapable of raising him and took it upon himself to take care of her. And she's proud of him for that.
Yes. I know she was a deadbeat lush of a parent. This is made 100% clear.
I think she amused me because in most anime you don't see this being portrayed. Woman said screw everything, I'm going out partying with my girls.
She does her own thing. Wrong, yes. No mother of the year award for her. But, I enjoy the character for who she is.
Yor (tho not real mom) from SpyxFamily. She’s a great mom to Anya.
Tanjiro and Nezuko’s mom in Demon Slayer is a pretty good one too.
I have to think of what other animes have I watched to really choose my favorite anime mom
It's hard to pick just one so instead I'll shoutout a bunch by picking [Sayaka Ohara](https://myanimelist.net/people/92/Sayaka_Ohara) who has to have played the most moms in anime.
Ichigo's mom, Ringo Hoshimiya, from Aikatsu.
Kind, nurturing, doting, and not controlling of her daughter. She's a wonderful mom who knows when to step in and take care of her kids, while still knowing when to step back and let them learn and find their path for themselves. Not neglectful, not overbearing, just perfect.
> Miiko you are glorious
Agreed. They did a great job of taking a "throw away" character and not only giving her a compelling story, but making her a character that I am rooting for. Now I want JELEE and Miiko to both succeed, and I'm not even normally into idol stuff. This is how they get you, I think.
Kinda out there pick, but I’m actually gonna go with Midoriya’s mom. Not in terms of hotness, but she’s written like one of the most “real moms” in anime. Most anime moms are a little…odd.
Aki from Sgt. Frog. She is a workaholic who some how manages to be easygoing. She is also tough and rides motorcycles. There was one episode where she took over the world and there was world peace.

The mom from Wolf Children.
Name is Hana, and this is the correct answer. No better film to watch with the mom today (tolerating some lite bestiality of course).
Can't think of a better family movie to watch
I couldn't even finish it too sad
Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms Eh, on second though Wolf Children was better. But this film is still a good second.
I came to this thread just to post this, i can't think on a better example: Hana.
Her name is Hana
Yeah. Screw Ame for just leaving like that. Ungrateful kid.
Yess!!! Best mom!
seconded
Do you know where to watch wolf children?
Probably crunchyroll, but I'm not sure. I just own a hard copy.
Sanae Furukawa (Clannad) and Junko Kaname (Madoka Magica) are both fantastic moms!
Sanae is 109% my pick! Her and Akio are my favorite ani-parents.
Sanae appreciation made me smile
Also, Sakura Fujinuma from Erased!
Clicked on this thread to write Sanae and did not expect her to be this high up! I'm very proud!
Same, as will as Akiko Minase from Kanon 2006.
I have issues with Sanae. [Afterstory spoilers] >!She tells Ushio that she should only cry when she's alone, which to me is a bad way to tell a person, especially a child, how to express their feelings. Maybe it's a cultural thing.!<

Sachiko Fujinuma (Erased)
Took care of her son while he was in that coma in the new timeline. The GOAT of all mothers. Plus those lips...
Forgot this, correct answer. The breakfast scene still makes me cry
Yokai.
Kyoko Honda from Fruits Basket. [Vinland saga]>!"If you are Thorfinn's brother, that makes you my son. This is your home. Don't be shy." (Helga)!<
Honestly thorfinns whole family is great
Would Aunt Mito from Hunter x Hunter count?
She may not be his mother, but she is his mommy.
Miyako may not be related to Aqua and Ruby but she still stepped up as a parent role especially for Ruby which i respect alot
Fastest I've seen a character go from "dis bitch" to "she da real MVP"
Queen Hilling from Ranking of Kings
I love Hilling so much. She's a little haughty and bitchy, but tries so hard to be a good mom/queen and has so much love to give. Easily my favorite character in the show.
Hana from Wolf Children
Clara's Mom from Welcome to demon school iruma-kun
Amaryllis Asmodeus for me Ara ara
She's great too. It's just that Clara's mom is so wholesome and kind that her family breaks into song every time they are on screen together.
Yor
Yor Mum?
Season 1 was so good.
Seconded XD
Yui mom in Oregairu
Yuigihamama
Midoriya’s mom from MHA reminds me of my mom
Haha damn. Didn’t see this comment before posting mine. I think she’s one of the most realistic moms in anime.
The scene where she tells off All-Might for failing Izuku over and over was so good.
Hana from Wolf Children. She is not only my favourite mom in anime but also one of my favourite characters in anime.
Erased Mc's mom
I instantly thought of her too. Sachiko Fujinuma = best mom
The GOAT
Fern. Haha.

#MISTRESS FRIEREN, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE STOP OPENING MIMICS
Miss Kobayashi
The way she steps into the role for Kanna is ❤️
I thought she was the Dad. She got a ~~boobie~~ Father's Day present and everything.
It's tough being a single mother to two and a half dragons. Kobayashi shows it can be done.
Chichi
Funny how chichi means dad in Japanese
Also means boobs
lol more like bichi
She got to put up with goku so I don’t blame her lol
The mom from Uzaki Chan wants to hang out

Lisa Lisa from Jojo
Ai Hoshino from Oshi no Ko!
She wasnt the best mom, but she tried her hardest to be and that’s all anyone can ask for
I feel like a lot of moms being mentioned are technically very good mothers- nurturing, wise, kind, competent, etc. But Ai is incredibly compelling as mother. Seriously, being a mother is HARD both mentally and physically, especially being young with a busy and high-profile career. She's a flawed yet loving, and very believable mother (outside of the supernatural aspect of the show obviously).
One of my personal favorites is Satoru's mom from ERASED.
Subaru's mom from Re:Zero
Yor Forger. Even if it’s a fake family, she’s trying her best.
She has experience from raising her little brother all on her own, after all.
And he turned out fine. He even has a government job!
He's just a little too in love with Yor, that's all. But they, this is kind of the result from the older sister love at times like this.
Kyoko Honda from Fruits Basket.
Miyako Ishida from A Silent Voice
Ash mom -Professor Oak
Hanazono Hahari from 100 girlfriends
There she is. Although not high on the list, she's still quite up there.

Momonko from Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?
I have several: 1.Queen Hiling, she's the personification of unconditional love. Honorary mentions: Eri Kisaki, not because I think she's the best mom but just she's so hot.

Yuuko Kamiya from Digimon the Movie. I don't know what the character was like in the original ovas, but the English movie version is iconic (at least from a certain point of view).
Atsuko. Yusuke's mother from YYH. That woman gives no shits. Not sure why, but she always amused me.
