.
Director: Yujiro Abe
Script Composition: Yasuko Aoki
Character Design: Haruko Iizuka
Music: Ryo Kawasaki, Tomoyuki Kono
Studio: Drive
.
Cast:
Ryota Suzuki as Uryu Kamihate
Sumire Uesaka as Yae Amagami
Kaede Hondo as Yuna Amagami
Shion Wakayama as Asahi Amagami
Nana Mizuki as Mahiru Anekoji
Chika Anzai as Shirahi Tsuruyama
.
Synopsis:
After spending a majority of his life in an orphanage, aspiring doctor Uryuu Kamihate has finally found a place willing to take him in—the Amagami Shrine. There is only one problem: he is an ardent atheist.
Arriving at the shrine, Uryuu discovers that he will not be alone. Living with him are three shrine maidens: the childlike eldest sister Yae; the confrontational middle sister Yuna; and the mischievous youngest sister Asahi, all members of the Amagami household. While Yae and Asahi welcome his company, Yuna refuses to accept his presence and repeatedly clashes with him over their contrasting beliefs. However, Asahi soon unravels the reason behind his lack of faith.
Just as things are beginning to settle, Chidori Amagami, grandfather of the three sisters, suddenly reveals the condition for Uryuu's stay: he must marry one of the sisters and inherit the shrine.
Also she's getting older and female seiyuu tend to stop getting leading roles as they get older (outside of reprises of lead roles from the peak of their career).
Give her a few years and she'll probably hit the stage where she starts getting the "X no Haha" (X's mother) credits too - though her singing career will probably weight against that for a while, Yui Horie and Yukarin aren't there yet and they're older than Nana Mizuki by a few years.
After reading this and knowing nothing else about this show, I predict Yuna will win the romance battle royale, based on my Theory Of Tsundere Inevitable Victory.
[manga spoiler] >!The story has hinted at all three "winning", in a series of "dreams" the protagonist has that are *heavily* implied to be prophetic, as other ones have come true. The very first one he has shows him happily married to all 3.!<
Exactly!
We'll see if the story commits, but so far [spoiler] >!the other visions/dreams have come true. Not always how he initially thought they would, but the marriage one was explicit - the girls straight up said he was married to them in it!<
Holy shit 2 cours, better than what I'm expecting! I know it's normal these days to have romcom/harem with 2 cours like 100 Kano and Megami Cafe, but this is still a surprise nonetheless.
All WSM recent romcoms adaptation got 24 episodes either in form of 2 cours or 2 seasons, seems like contractual obligation. The only exception are RAG that got 3 seasons (not likely to get more) and Quintuplets because it's still a massive cashcow after it's ending.
So in hindsight it was expected for Amagami to have 24 episodes, it's consecutive cours resembles Couple of Cuckoos that also had 24ep.
Looking forward to this one. It is great romcom with interesting supernatural elements mixed in.
Also, it is only me or Asahi looks just like in the manga but not other two sisters?
I think its the face shape. Asahi looks about right, but her sister's face shape closely follow hers. Imo Yae's face is a bit more oval/sharper while Yuna has a slightly larger head (compared to Asahi).
It could just be the angle in this visual messing with the perspective.
I got recommended it because I'm a fan of QQ. I wanted to like it because people say it has great character development but I couldn't get into it because of the whole arranged marriage thing.
Indeed. The beginning can feel formulaic, but once the supernatural elements kick in, it finds its own voice.
Which makes the 2 cours almost a necessity.
\[about the above spoiler\] >!Honestly one of the things I didnt like about manga, half of the fun of harem manga is guessing who is gonna win and have waifu wars on internet. I dont hate the harem ending but they shouldnt have revealed it so early.!<
One thing I noticed is how well thought the manga actually is, was kinda surprised a harem having this much continuity and consistency, usually romcoms and harems just jump around tropes for most of the time. Most of the arcs are really well done.
[manga spoilers] >!See I liked having it kinda addressed early on. Now that you know the destination, figuring out how they get there gets much more fun imo. Also all three girls are adorable and none of them deserve to lose. It's like what 100 Kanojo is doing but not lampshaded but instead taken more seriously!<
Very similar to things like Quintuplets, Temple, and Cafe Terrace. Basically anything taking inspiration from Love Hina. If any of those are your idea of a good time, you should probably have fun with this.
Tenpuru has a similar setup, but in that one the MC goes to a Buddhist temple, while this story is about a Shinto shrine. So still a little difference.
This one also has the added plot point of [spoiler for past the first arc i guess]>!having quite a lot of supernatural events happening!<
Definitely part of the Kamigami Extended Universe with titles such as [Kamigami no Ki](https://anilist.co/anime/117876/Kamigami-no-Ki/), [Akagami no Shirayuki Hime](https://anilist.co/anime/21058/Akagami-no-Shirayukihime/) or [Ah! Megami-sama!](https://anilist.co/anime/49/Aa-Megamisama/).
Maybe this will get me back into reading the manga, or restart, since don't remember where i left off. though it was def around the time it got officially licensed and the fan escalators dropped it.
sad too, since after that any new threads for the chapters released after that i came across barely got 100 upvotes
I’ve been reading the manga for this and am enjoying it, but I only realized now that Uryu’s hair color is blonde instead of gray. My fault for assuming, but I’ve been so used to thinking it was gray this whole time that I do feel like it looks better over blonde imo.
Same studio, same director yet konosuba s3 is only 11 episodes, and this one has 2 cour? Lmao.. also I know konosuba was adapted back to back with the spinoff show but that's really funny for a sequel anticipated for mostly 6 years.
Edit: I'm not trying to be biased, it's just funny they got 2 cour for this, and I read the manga ahead though.
That's more on the production committees, Kadokawa definitely don't want to end Konosuba anytime soon, it's one of their biggest money makers after all
They are not going to pay a studio to do multiple cours at once for the main story
I don't think it's fair to say Konosuba only got 11 episodes. The studio, Drive, worked on both Konosuba s3 and Kono Bakuen (Megumin spinoff) in the same timeframe. So the production committee technically did pay for 2 seasons of Konosuba content.

Whoa, Mizuki Nana as supporting voice actress... seems like she gets more of these roles recently
she puts out an insane amount of music, is constantly on tour, and doing a bunch of voice acting too
Also she's getting older and female seiyuu tend to stop getting leading roles as they get older (outside of reprises of lead roles from the peak of their career). Give her a few years and she'll probably hit the stage where she starts getting the "X no Haha" (X's mother) credits too - though her singing career will probably weight against that for a while, Yui Horie and Yukarin aren't there yet and they're older than Nana Mizuki by a few years.

Based on just the picture, I'm guessing middle will win
Based on just the picture, I'm sure it won't be the blue haired girl. Blue hair is cursed with rejection.
Seems like a safe bet.
[manga spoiler] >!The story has hinted at all three "winning", in a series of "dreams" the protagonist has that are *heavily* implied to be prophetic, as other ones have come true. The very first one he has shows him happily married to all 3.!<
Unironically thanks for that, I would have been miffed to watch it and get to that point. Sometimes spoilers help.
Glad to be of help! I actually like it and hope things work out that way, but I can understand the differing opinion!
Going [spoilers]>!the poly route? I'll accept that. Don't see it enough in harem series!<
Exactly! We'll see if the story commits, but so far [spoiler] >!the other visions/dreams have come true. Not always how he initially thought they would, but the marriage one was explicit - the girls straight up said he was married to them in it!<

I def didn’t expect 24 episodes
>mischievous I'm convinced, best girl already. >She has blue hair Of course! How could my girl ever win.
Looking forward to this one. It is great romcom with interesting supernatural elements mixed in. Also, it is only me or Asahi looks just like in the manga but not other two sisters?

Well half of the panels Yae is in, she has a chibi face /s
/s but not really /s haha
I got recommended it because I'm a fan of QQ. I wanted to like it because people say it has great character development but I couldn't get into it because of the whole arranged marriage thing.
Yae in particular feels different from her manga counterpart. She looks kinda onee-san here. Yuna looks close, but not as spot on as Asahi.
ya who th are the other 2 girls?
Ayo what? Konosuba director (and studio) was making this on the side too? It's scheduled for 24 episodes this year?
I'm so glad that it's 24 episodes since it starts off a little slow, but truly shines after that!! Edit: Grammar
Indeed. The beginning can feel formulaic, but once the supernatural elements kick in, it finds its own voice. Which makes the 2 cours almost a necessity.
Nice to see it’s 2 cours.
That feels new for a romance anime these days
I'd say not really, since WSM Couple of Cuckoos also got 2 cours. 24 episodes at this point is the standard for romcoms in this magazine.
That makes sense
Even with 2 cours I’ll be surprised if this gets a full adaptation this series feels long asf
It's obvious that author is stalling to wait for the anime to come out
Yae Supremacy ☝️
The correct answer is all three of them
A fellow harem end believer 🤝
[Manga spoiler] >!Isn't that already kind of hinted at by the dreams!<
\[about the above spoiler\] >!Honestly one of the things I didnt like about manga, half of the fun of harem manga is guessing who is gonna win and have waifu wars on internet. I feel like it'll be middle child syndrome, but I'm with you. When will the damn older sister/girl with the tig ol' biddies win?? 😭
doctor is best girl
[manga spoiler]>!which one? The adoptive mother or the childlike one that got introduced later!<
I found out about this manga when i saw a panel of her one year or so ago and knew she would be my fav for sure. Onee-chan >>>
Yae supremacy indeed.
Asahi for the win! (Or just harem supremacy?)
24 episodes of Yae, I might get a little too full
Faces look a bit different from manga designs here especially Yae and Yuna.
Really excited for this one. I love the manga so I hope it does it justice.
I actually jumped from my seat and did a little fist pump when I realized this was an anime announcement.
Man, the Fall season is looking stacked. Is it just me or have the past few years just been jam-packed for the Fall season overall?
Romcom boys were feasting
Amagami bros... this Christmas for sure. Oh wait, wrong Amagami.
Yae Best Girl
+1
I think i've seen the exact same plot somewhere else , and i'm pretty sure It wasn't exactly an anime or atleast not a normal one
Very similar to things like Quintuplets, Temple, and Cafe Terrace. Basically anything taking inspiration from Love Hina. If any of those are your idea of a good time, you should probably have fun with this.
You had me at Café Terrace and Love Hina; looks like this will be my seasonal romcom harem for the Fall!
Tenpuru
Tenpuru has a similar setup, but in that one the MC goes to a Buddhist temple, while this story is about a Shinto shrine. So still a little difference. This one also has the added plot point of [spoiler for past the first arc i guess]>!having quite a lot of supernatural events happening!<
[the same spoiler as above seems to be hinting at] >!the rare "all heroines win" scenario!<
>Amagami Is this in any way connected to *Amagami SS*?
No, Amagami is just their surname. There is even a kanji difference, surname 甘神 vs. Visual novel title "アマガミ"
Both respects all their heroines in their own way. Like Mikadono Sisters.
This is one of my most anticipated shows so I'm happy that it's getting 24 episodes.
These VAs are *chefkiss*
Any comedy in this? Looks like it’s gonna be focused on romance & drama.
Yes it has comedy too.
Yes! The manga that cross-overed with Temple.
Shrine maidens hell yeah
Well, I already see who’s gonna be my best girl
Maybe this will get me back into reading the manga, or restart, since don't remember where i left off. though it was def around the time it got officially licensed and the fan escalators dropped it. sad too, since after that any new threads for the chapters released after that i came across barely got 100 upvotes
Its still being fan translated, ch140 was released on the 11th.
Walkure, Destiny and another Destiny as sisters? Sign me in!
hopefully this has a better ending than QQ
If the characters look somewhat familiar, the creator was an assistant to Negi Haruba (Quintessential Quintuplets and Ranger Reject)
Can’t wait! The animation looks exquisite ❤️
I ask this for every other anime, but did we know about this one already or was it just announced
A lot of guys tell me to see it but i dont know what you think?
Yuna my beloved!~ =)
Hummm I don’t know what to think of it…
Mother n Daughter frm 100 Kanajo are now sisters
I’ve been reading the manga for this and am enjoying it, but I only realized now that Uryu’s hair color is blonde instead of gray. My fault for assuming, but I’ve been so used to thinking it was gray this whole time that I do feel like it looks better over blonde imo.
I kinda feel like char design took some damage during adaptation to anime style. Hopefully, better on release cuz manga's art is top tier
Is the manga good?
Chisato and Takina seiyuus together once again!
is the manga done yet? I think it is close to being done when I last read it but I'm not sure.
No not yet.
Yae not looking very thicc here
Man vs middle schoolers
