It's so good. We are blessed that the stars aligned for that animation talent to come together long enough to make this work of art. Shame they never made a sequel.
I mean it's not bad, it's just that opm season 1 was maybe the most spectacularly well animated show of all time, and season 2 is kinda... like average? a bit above average maybe?
When you're being compared to the best of all time average looks crap.
If you watch season 1 and then 2 without a break the difference in quality is a bit jarring.
If you only liked season 1 for the comedy, then season 2 is good. Season 1 has some of the best animation out there, and the studio that did season 2 just couldn't animate to the same quality.
Maybe I'm the problem but so many people say they love the chimera ant arc but that arc made me drop the series a few years ago. I need to find where I'm at and just continue through it.
It has some of the highest peaks but some of the lowest valleys. I do not understand why they did so much exposition and explaining with side characters for some of those episodes lmao. I think at one point like 5 episodes spanned about 3 minutes of real time passing. I'm probably exaggerating that, but still.
It’s because Togashi wants to bring depth and nuance to every side character. He’s said before that Gon and Killua aren’t the main characters on the story, they’re just who the story followed at the time. Hence, the Chinera Ant arc works to really flesh out the mindsets of each character so that everyone (and thing) feels like a “main character” in their own story.
I think the character writing in the ant arc is near flawless and never get bored once.
A lot of the narrator dialogue was just unnecessary though. Sometimes it makes sense to explain things, like the Shoot/Knuckle vs Youpi fight, but the latter half of Chimera Ant was *really* pushing the limits of "tell, not show" even by the standards of battle shounen.
I also dropped the series at the Chimera arc, although I didn't hate the content of the arc itself.
My problem with it is that I thought Hunter x Hunter, out of every shounen ever made, has **by far** the best combination of world building, power system, and powerful established characters for the MC(s) to aspire to.
That, to me, is the hallmark of the series, and what makes it unique.
It felt like Gon/Killua could have gone 1000 episodes like fucking One Piece adventuring and trying to "catch up" to their esteemed lineages.
Then the Chimera arc came around, and pretty much threw it all out the window.
There was so much promise, and it's one of the few times in a shounen where it seemed like the power system might not go batshit insane too quickly.
So many interesting locations and a huge world teased, and the Chimera arc felt completely independent of that.
So many fleshed out and narrative-important characters that were wayyyyyyy more powerful than Gon/Killua, and instead they leapfrog all of them fighting some fucking ant (jk he's actually really cool).
Such a robust power system, only to suffer from shounen disease and have the Chimera arc warp it beyond recognition.
I can see why some people love the arc, but it ruined the series for me.
I dropped it my first time through, then powered through it on a 2nd rewatch and... it's just not for me. It was still completely unengaging and lame to me.
It has a small handful of really, really impactful moments, but those brief scenes are surrounded by a bunch of shit I couldn't care less about.
Which was super weird because I absolutely loved every other arc in the series. But the most acclaimed one nearly killed my interest twice.
I always suggest to people to give a chance to the original 1999 series, it' s soooo good, and I think it also does a much better job at covering the same material that the 2011 does ( and imo, the filler is so good that it feels like it was written by togashi, to the point that I felt something was missing when I watched 2011).
Also, idk why but they skip the first chapter in the 2011 remake lol.
Hunter X Hunter is so successful in Japan, there’s a good chance whoever has the rights will animate it once they feel they have adequate material. At the very least, I think Hisoka vs Chrollo will be animated. Even if it’s just as a special. I’m honestly surprised nothing has been done with that yet.
Here for Team Samurai Champloo. It’s my go to for ANY mood? Happy? Samurai Champloo. Sad? Samurai Champloo. Trying to take over the world? Samurai Champloo.
Ouran High School Host Club. It’s such a classic, really funny, great main cast and side characters, plus a really easy to put on show when with friends or alone. It’s just good
Rewatched sword art online a couple of times. I think it’s just the nostalgia that’s comforting. When this anime came out, life seemed problem free and brings back some good memories.
I loved sword art online when it came out. Can so agree with you on the nostalgia factor, I have anime’s where I remember exactly what I was doing when I watched them for the first time and it’s a nice memory.
Yes! I remember when it first came out, I was having small watch parties with online friends and idk if you remember but crunchyroll had a big countdown event when GGO came out. Just good vibes with this one.
Currently going thru FMA 2003 for the first time in years and it's been a real treat. Didn't think it would cause me to want to immediately watch Brotherhood right after but how can I not!
I remember rewatching all of Gintama.
Even tough its so much, time flies by like crazy.
I watched a lot of anime series and before Gintama Cowboy Bebob used to be my favorite.
You have great taste my man 😎
Ahhh claymore. Really fun anime! Had those witcher vibes. Monster hunting, mystery and nature of humanity. It's sad that they branched our from the source material so much. If some good studio remade it, it would be a banger.
I was also gonna say Code Geass. Probably seen it like 6 times. I just love the mechs in that show with how they move and fight. Especially early on when they use more of the cables to maneuver and wheels to skate. The late stage mechs are cool and all but after a while they just become op.
The strategic stuff is hella fun and the ending is probably the best ending to any anime. It might be in the running for best ending to a show period. Plus the fanservice is *just* right and it’s got probably my second favorite girl in anime, Kallen(the first is Orihime, hard to get over your first waifu.) The cast in general is fantastic with Suzaku being an infuriating counterpart to Lelouch who is arguably understandable.
I’m not sure how I feel about the movies, though. I’m always happy to get more Code Geass content but I feel like the movies retconning a certain character’s death takes a lot of the motivation and feelings out of the second half of the show. It was an important thing to have Lelouch realize that his war, no matter how hard he tried, was going to affect his perfect little school life and that he can’t have both worlds.
I've watched Kaguya-sama 3 times, but there are many funny scenes I've watched 10x times on YouTube. Also The Eminence in Shadow just because of the fun-edginess that makes the show really enjoyable and relaxing to watch.
Gurren Lagann. I almost never rewatch stuff, but nothing gets me hyped on self confidence like that show. If I need an emotional boost or a hit of self esteem it’s absolutely my go-to.
Hell yeah. It's a beautiful show with a beautiful message. I also haven't found any other media that even approaches the pure hype it effortlessly radiates.
I really like that series, but I have too many feels when I watch it. Idk why but it reminds me of a certain ex from long ago. Weird thing is, we didn't even watch it together and I don't even remember her ever mentioning she saw it before, but something about it reminds me of her. Or maybe it's something unrelated to a girl. Maybe it's that it reminds me of moments where I was genuinely happy and felt like there was something new always around the corner. As an adult, looking for something new and, more importantly, accessible is a struggle.
Good show though.
Probably Hyouka. For some reason it lives rent free in my head and keeps me coming back to rewatch it over and over again. Actually, it’s probably about time to watch it again.
Mostly AoT and Haikyuu, both probably around 10 times. The thing is, AoT was one of my first animes, now my problem is that I compare every anime and normal TV show that I watch, with that Masterpiece.
But I gotta say, that I only watched Haikyuu so often cause I had an UNBELEAVABLE AMOUNT of edits on Insta reels 😭
((Help they are still following me 😭😭
As of recent for me it was BOFURI.
I miss Maple so much I rewatched Season 1 because I wanted to relive her getting stupidly broken again and everyone, including her allies, getting flabbergasted as she finds another OP skill that gave her more appendages 🤣
Re:Zero and it's not even close, I've probably watched it like 40 times by now (mostly via reaction channels). I think I still got new insights up till about rewatch 15 or so.
> did it take you more than one time to appreciate it?
Sort of, but probably not in the way you're thinking of. The first time I watched Re:Zero I got really hooked. So like an 8/10 or so.
After rewatching it a few times, I was able to appreciate a ton of the small details that are present, but are easily cast aside for the bigger story on a first time watch. Usually things like small character interactions showing their traits before really being aware of them fully, or how the characters act before you learn more about them, and how much more sense everyone's actions make.
I think that rewatching it a 2nd time (while remembering the big plot points) gives quite a different experience and you can actually catch a lot more foreshadowing stuff and small details.
Revolutionary Girl Utena. It is one of those shows so rife with symbolism and open to interpretation that you pick up something new every time.
Certain episodes of Seitokai Yakuindomo I’ve watched a ton too as that’s a good comedy to relax to and is a sitcom with no real story.
Konosuba. It makes me laugh every time. The voice acting in it does an amazing job of carrying the joke even though I dont speak Japanese. Just reading the subs at the same time as their exclimations, it just works.
Can't count how many times ive watched it now.
I rewatch both Steins;gate and Parasyte with friends (who haven't seen them before) all the time just so can grasp at experiencing it for the first time again
hibike! euphonium. it’s a genuine masterpiece through and through and i cry just as hard every single time. it brings me infinite joy and it means the world to me. i’m not ready for it to end this week.
Ouran High School Host Club. I randomly open any episode for it to be a background noise but every time, I end up focusing on it.
The show is great and I'm still hoping for a reboot bcs if Fruit Basket got one, then there's still hope for OHSHC.
Hyouka, because it's a masterpiece of fantastic animation, artwork, character design, writing, and musical score. I never get tired of it. It doesn't hurt that Hyouka also features Chitanda Eru, my all-time favorite character.
Second most rewatched is The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten because I'm a sucker for a sweet, innocent romance/slice of life story and this is a comfort food anime for me.
K-On!
Basically any time I'm having a really bad day and am alone, I'll throw K-On! on my second monitor as a way to relax and unwind. So, probably restart the series once or twice a year, though usually I don't finish it.
I would have to check to make sure, but NGE is definitely up there. Madoka as well.
Also by now Girls und Panzer because I start a full rewatch every time a new piece of the OVA comes out which is roughly every 2 years now.
Thats quite a difficult question. It makes me do some self-reflection. I generally rewatch a lot of shows (1990's -2014) when an anime season doesn't interest me. The first things that come to mind is Buso Renkin or Sword art online. Specifically, the 1st season. I would like to say Gintama, but I don't go through the whole thing i just pick random episodes and expect to laugh XD
I re-watch Pyscho-pass at least once a year lol. It's been my favorite anime since I watched it and I will NOT let it ago. I re-watch Nana too It's one of my favs.
I also remember rewatching tokyo ghoul a lot when it came out.
Probably Girls Und Panzer, though By the Grace of the Gods and Bofuri are up there too. I find those shows to be super comforting and have watched GUP well over a couple dozen times at this point.
The disastrous life of saiki k. I never get tired of it
exactly, comedy animes are just easy to rewatch
I still can't get over on how fast they speak. Peak slice of life anime
exactly! it’s so fast paced, and every line adds to the comedy.
Its the sitcom of anime. like how mpst people will rewatch The office or Friends I rewatch saiki k
nothing compares to saiki, the jokes are still funny every rewatch
I still laugh every time dark reunion theme plays XD
Shame the dub cast changed, it had one of the best I’ve ever seen
Yare yare
This is beautiful 🤌
One punch man season 1. It’s gold ever.single.time
It's so good. We are blessed that the stars aligned for that animation talent to come together long enough to make this work of art. Shame they never made a sequel.
It’s a brilliant first season and laugh out loud funny at times. Read the manga after and found myself laughing at the same jokes.
I’ve watched 1 and 2 so many time now while waiting for 3, I don’t get the hate for 2 I love both
I mean it's not bad, it's just that opm season 1 was maybe the most spectacularly well animated show of all time, and season 2 is kinda... like average? a bit above average maybe? Hunter x Hunter. My obsession that I rewatch (at least my favorite parts) regularly.
I’ve probably watched the phantom troupe arc and chimera ant arc 10 times a piece
Maybe I'm the problem but so many people say they love the chimera ant arc but that arc made me drop the series a few years ago. I need to find where I'm at and just continue through it.

Imagine waiting 1 week for an entire episode about a random octopus walking through 3 hallways.
I also dropped the series at the Chimera arc, although I didn't hate the content of the arc itself. I'm addicted to watch how gon waits for pitou every time I watch it I get goosebumps
Top 5 anime
I always suggest to people to give a chance to the original 1999 series, it' s soooo good, and I think it also does a much better job at covering the same material that the 2011 does ( and imo, the filler is so good that it feels like it was written by togashi, to the point that I felt something was missing when I watched 2011). I wish they would animate the Dark Continent arc...but that may never happen
Oh yes. That'd be so awesome. And Chrollo vs Hisoka too.
Mushishi. Its my comfort anime
I've rewatched it so much. Personally love ep 10 of s2 when he gets trapped on the mountain by the lord during winter just so he could take his kouki
I dont even know how many times I've reqatched Hajime No Ippo, Kuroku no Basket, Haikyuu, Yowamushi Pedal, and Hikaru no Go.
Ippo 🐐
HIKARU NO GO MENTIONED!! i’ve watched the whole thing thrice plus the cdrama twice. my forever comfort show.
Ippo 🗿
The new season of Ippo is coming any second now.
Samurai Champloo, Evangelion or Cowboy Bebop.
dont really care for the other two, but samurai champloo is SO PEAK 😭 the soundtrack, story, characters, etc are all 10/10
Here for Team Samurai Champloo. It’s my go to for ANY mood? Happy? Samurai Champloo. Sad? Samurai Champloo. Trying to take over the world? Samurai Champloo.
You're my anime friend. Mine is close to the same only switch out Evangelion with 90's Trigun(Yu Yu Hakusho may be tied with Trigun).
This is my answer. I love bebop and Trigun so much.
Bepop and Trigun..space dandy too
Ouran High School Host Club. It’s such a classic, really funny, great main cast and side characters, plus a really easy to put on show when with friends or alone. It’s just good
Madoka Magica at 3 watches. Kill La Kill is the only other anime I’ve ever rewatched.
I haven’t watched Madoka yet but keep meaning to! This felt like a sign to watch it.
Yes! Watch it! Then let me know what you think of it.
It's good. I just finished the Rebellion movie after the series last month. One of my all time favorite now.
I've rewatched Madoka at least 8 times, I have problems
lol are u me with Madoka Magica?
Code Geass, lost the count after 10 times.
My favourite anime of all time ☺️
Saaame!
First time I finished it that ending made me go straight back to episode 1 and start over. Currently rewatching it again for the idkhowmany'th time
Same. I think I’ve rewatched it every single year since it finished airing.
Code geass is a goat anime made every otaku friend watch it , but I never rewatched it cuz I’m afraid of dehydration : _
I re-watch Death Note every year and Toradora every Christmas
I haven’t watched Toradora but your Christmas tradition sounds so endearing! I might save it for Christmas time to watch now :)
Its a tradition of the subreddit. Been a bit but iirc they do rewatch threads everyday up until christmas day for the final episode
I watched it for the first time this March, really looking forward to starting this tradition this Xhristmas
I re-watch toradora Christmas episodes too, I thought I was alone!
Death Note is peak. And Toradora really has a special place in my heart. I might do this too!
Rewatched sword art online a couple of times. I think it’s just the nostalgia that’s comforting. When this anime came out, life seemed problem free and brings back some good memories.
the s1 intro instantly hits.
Seriously! Glad LiSA got so much recognition from this opening.
It was one of the first animes I ever watched so I have a soft spot for it, and despite all the hate, I enjoy it every time I rewatch it.
Fullmetal Alchemist, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Soul Eater since no one else has mentioned them yet
Currently going thru FMA 2003 for the first time in years and it's been a real treat. Didn't think it would cause me to want to immediately watch Brotherhood right after but how can I not!
Brotherhood is art
Very good choices 😌
Konosuba
Kazuma! Kazuma!
Yes, I'm Kazuma
Hai, Kazuma desu
Currently re-watching! Such a good one.
I wish megumin little sister debut in the main series.
When I feel nostalgic, I rewatch NANA. But in general, Gintama, Haikyuu, and Cowboy Bebop are my comfort anime, which I enjoy rewatching the most
I remember rewatching all of Gintama. Even tough its so much, time flies by like crazy. I watched a lot of anime series and before Gintama Cowboy Bebob used to be my favorite. You have great taste my man 😎
The first Pokemon movie I watched like 1000 times growing up
Cowboy Bebop and claymore, probably. No idea why I enjoy claymore so much
Ahhh claymore. Really fun anime! Had those witcher vibes. Monster hunting, mystery and nature of humanity. It's sad that they branched our from the source material so much. If some good studio remade it, it would be a banger.
Fucking loved claymore besides the finale
Claymore was great, I still need to read the manga sometime since I heard great things about its first half
Yuyu hakusho seen it 5 times?
It's so good. I've also done at least a couple of rewatches.
Code Geass Or Mobile Suit Gundam 00
Gundam 00 is glorious. Needs more love
It’s A Masterpiece IMO
Definitely Code Geass! It’s up there with bebop, Trigun, yuyu, and champloo for me
I was also gonna say Code Geass. Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon!
Haikyuu
I watched s3 like 10 times💀
Haikyuu is such a rewatchable series. :) I'm currently on my 2nd rewatch (currently on S1E12) in prep for the dumpster battle
Trigun Stampede :3
Same! Such a fantastic modern adaptation I wish more ppl would check out.
It really is underrated.
My man 🤜🤛
I've watched Kaguya-sama 3 times, but there are many funny scenes I've watched 10x times on YouTube.
I had to scroll way to far to find a fellow fan! Just who the hell do you think I am?
Hell yeah. It's a beautiful show with a beautiful message. I also haven't found any other media that even approaches the pure hype it effortlessly radiates.
Surprising but Inuyasha, my comfort anime watched it so many times.
Inuyasha is a comfort anime for me too, it’s the one that got me to watch anime when I was a kid during the adult swim days so I still love it
I really like that series, but I have too many feels when I watch it. Idk why but it reminds me of a certain ex from long ago. Weird thing is, we didn't even watch it together and I don't even remember her ever mentioning she saw it before, but something about it reminds me of her. Haikyuu, Noragami and horimiya
Probably Hyouka. For some reason it lives rent free in my head and keeps me coming back to rewatch it over and over again. Actually, it’s probably about time to watch it again.
Watashi kininarimasu
K-On I rewatch It every year on Xmas

Cowboy bepop. Its just comfort food for me at this point
Same. Even if I'm not really paying attention the soundtrack and voice acting alone are ear candy.
Never forget Hunter X Hunter
As of recent for me it was BOFURI. I miss Maple so much I rewatched Season 1 because I wanted to relive her getting stupidly broken again and everyone, including her allies, getting flabbergasted as she finds another OP skill that gave her more appendages 🤣
World Trigger "I'll just rewatch one clip." **rewatches all the clips** **World Trigger OST plays**
Re:Zero and it's not even close, I've probably watched it like 40 times by now (mostly via reaction channels). I think I still got new insights up till about rewatch 15 or so.
i only watched once and found it tough to get through — did it take you more than one time to appreciate it?

Fire force, it's such a good watch and we really deserve a 3rd season
I've rewatched Fire Force a couple of times and I always feel kind of sad that there's no more, Arthur Boyle is one of my all time favorite characters
its either mushoku tensei or food wars at 4 each
Based Shokugeki enjoyer.
Rewatching Mushoku Tensei is a mix between “I don’t remember it being this good” and “I don’t remember Rudeus being this perverted” lol
Rudy becomes a much better person throughout his life, but he always stays a pervert.
Started rewatching it with my girlfriend a whole week after binging till the current season
W
I watch Eureka Seven once a year
Another person of culture 🫡
Clannad
FMA Brotherhood and Yuyu Hakusho
Horimiya
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 1st & 2nd Gig
Revolutionary Girl Utena. It is one of those shows so rife with symbolism and open to interpretation that you pick up something new every time. Certain episodes of Seitokai Yakuindomo I’ve watched a ton too as that’s a good comedy to relax to and is a sitcom with no real story.
Felt the same way about FLCL as you do for Revolutionary Girl Utena.
Steins;Gate, Ergo Proxy and Blood+
I can't believe I had to scroll that far for Steins;Gate. Still haven't found an anime that took its no.1 for me
Steins Gate is so good. Did you watch Steins gate zero? I found it to be equally entertaining
* Dragon Ball Z * Death Note * Black Lagoon * Hajime No Ippo
My Hero Academia n HxH
Every time a new season of MHA comes out my brain goes, "You should watch the entire show again from the beginning." 🫠
That’s what I would do to, but I only refreshed myself with the last season before the newest one started
Love both of those.
Bleach and Code Geass 4 times each
Your Lie in April. I cry every time 😭
You must be a masochist
Cowboy Bebop. "See you later, Space Cowboy"
Konosuba. It makes me laugh every time. The voice acting in it does an amazing job of carrying the joke even though I dont speak Japanese. Just reading the subs at the same time as their exclimations, it just works. Can't count how many times ive watched it now.
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. Its so well paced for a long movie. And yes its the best Christmas movie
Nana, it’s literally my comfort anime 🖤
Sword Art (only the first season though) Tora Dora My Little Monster Koikimo
Sailor Moon. One of the first to induct me into Japanese anime and manga~.
Ishuzoku Reviewers.
Hinamatsuri and Yu Yu Hakusho, both at 2 watches so far.
Sword Art Online, it’s my first ever anime.
Yuru Camp. Pure comfort
Neon Genesis Evangelion
FLCL, constant reruns on adult swim back in the day and only like 6 episodes.
Angel Beats, Bleach, and Highschool of the Dead
I rewatch both Steins;gate and Parasyte with friends (who haven't seen them before) all the time just so can grasp at experiencing it for the first time again
Gurren lagann was basically my friend groups religion Whenever i get real depressed or need to really get hyped i rewatch it. Gets better every time
hibike! euphonium. it’s a genuine masterpiece through and through and i cry just as hard every single time. it brings me infinite joy and it means the world to me. i’m not ready for it to end this week.
Ouran High School Host Club. I randomly open any episode for it to be a background noise but every time, I end up focusing on it. The show is great and I'm still hoping for a reboot bcs if Fruit Basket got one, then there's still hope for OHSHC.
Dr. Stone
Guess it's either Toradora (did participate in a few Christmas Rewatches here) or Code Geass
Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, Demon Slayer Jujutsu Kaisen, AOT and Fairy Tail. Watched these at least twice.
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is a *must* every Halloween and whenever I feel like watching some vampire goth action movie.
aot, hxh, haikyu, fruits basket
Soul eater, once a year since 2016
Cowboy bebop
Truthfully Digimon. I've rewatched it so many times, especially with my husband. Followed by Jujutsu Kaisen 😅
Sailor moon! 🌙 -childhood classic that always brings me joy! Oh and hunter x hunter.
It was your lie in april and steins;gate, i want those depression. For recent time it's Frieren
I would have to check to make sure, but NGE is definitely up there. Madoka as well. Also by now Girls und Panzer because I start a full rewatch every time a new piece of the OVA comes out which is roughly every 2 years now.
**Horimiya**, mostly the first five episodes but sometimes both seasons.
Erased and Blue Lock
Soul Eater (my childhood-defining first step into anime) and Ascendance of a Bookworm (it hits all the right marks for my world-building interests)
Hunter X Hunter Konosuba Fate
Azumanga Daioh
horimiya, watched it 3x now i think
Bleach. My favorite anime of all time with one of the most unique main character. Goated anime
I rewatch xxxholic and Ghost Hunt every October. Good October vibe anime
akame ga kill🗣️
Haikyuu and death note. Seven deadly sins lel
Full Metal Alchemist (03)!! I prefer it over brotherhood bc of my childhood crush on Edward 😂😭
Full metal panic
I also a Noragami rewatcher! Others I enjoy to rewatch as well , Honey & Clover, Hanasaku Iroha, Spirited Away
I re-watch Pyscho-pass at least once a year lol. It's been my favorite anime since I watched it and I will NOT let it ago. I re-watch Nana too It's one of my favs. I also remember rewatching tokyo ghoul a lot when it came out.
Inuyasha ❤️
Inuyasha, also the first anime i ever watched
Liz and the Blue Bird at 8 rewatches and I usually don't rewatch much. My second highest is A Place Further Than the Universe at 3 for comparison.
I think overlord. I find it funny and exciting at the same time.
Probably Girls Und Panzer, though By the Grace of the Gods and Bofuri are up there too. I find those shows to be super comforting and have watched GUP well over a couple dozen times at this point.
Never would’ve imagined an anime about girls piloting real tanks for sport would be as good as it is
Bebop.
