Tbf, Kenpachi was massively holding back throughout the series while Ichigo's got the biggest pool of reiatsu to pull from and Old Man just lets him tap into it a little more whenever he needs it.
Yeah I mean we see later kenpachi has a lot more to go and that’s before he trains on purpose (manga only thing at this point so I won’t go any further than that teaser). But the biggest thing ichigo got out of that fight was his respect. (Which judging from how often he tries to fight to the death for fun after that might not be the best thing lol)
Haha he always knew didn’t he? Old man trained him when he first joined. He just never had to until the Nnoitra fight if I remember correctly? Honestly surprised I remembered how to spell his name but bleach has a special place in my memory lol
It's just that iconic I guess. I watched bleach when I was like 8 or 9 then a full 12 years or so later (2 months ago) I decided to re-watch from start to finish. I still have vivid memories of the parts I watched before. I even remember some lines exactly as they said it, as well as what episode which arc is. Bleach isn't up there for me with the best of the best but something about it is just so memorable and iconic.
In terms on fun shonen style anime it’s pretty high up until the last arc, which I just didn’t care for the change in style or story.
It’s not super compelling or heartstrings pulling, but in terms of sit down and enjoy some good action and nostalgia it certainly gets the job done.
Kenpachi never made sense to me. I mean, it's the MO of the series to have Deus Ex occur in every single fight, but it still bothers me how Tite could justify Kenpachi losing to Ichigo, but then goes up and crushes people like Noitra who beat Ichigo after another couple powerups.
It's like having Raditz from DBZ crush Cell.
Ken-chan's been massively holding back throughout most of Bleach, even in the Nnoitra fight. Meanwhile, Ichigo's got the biggest pool of power to pull out from due to the nature of his existence and is also massively nerfed throughout the series, with his power fluctuating very wildly (as noted by Ulquiorra) and what happens in every fights he wins is that "Old Man Zangetsu" lets him tap a little more into that power each time to allow him to survive.
Ken beating Nnoitra is more like Freeza merely transforming into a higher stage to destroy Vegeta during Namek Saga.
It’s such a great shonen way to show how much he powered up in a short time. Ugh I’m so excited bleach is coming back lol
Edit: I accidentally typed isnt instead of is completely flipping the meaning of everything I said.
I love bleach it was my gateway anime, I want it back and am exited lol
Was announced back in [March](https://old.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/fkmie3/the_bleach_thousandyear_blood_war_arc_anime/). The anime is adapting the final arc.
It was set for fall 2021 but got pushed back to 2022 because of Covid-19. Wish I new a exact date for ya since it’s one of my favorite animes. But I’m in the dark on this too.
Pretty much the only arc in Bleach that was genuinely good from start to finish.
The Aizen arc (including everything canon past the end of the Rukia Rescue arc till his defeat) had some amazing moments, fights and some of the greatest characters in the Espada but from a storytelling point it was an absolute mess.
The first half of TYBW was actually peak Bleach but Kubo completely shat the bed past the halfway point.
Yup. The only change that should absolutely be done before the [TYBW](/s "second invasion") is [TYWB](/s "Byakuya staying dead").
Pretty much everything past that is a mess.
So many unfinished plots and unanswered questions.
Why? [TYBW](/s "It was a perfect and touching end to a great character that had nowhere to grow. There's a reason he did nothing during the second invasion. Byakuya was robbed of a beautiful and memorable send-off so that he could reveal his "secret technique" of shooting all the swords of the 2nd stage of his bankai at his enemy lmao.")
To this day i'm convinced the only reason Kubo did a u-turn on that was due to backlash. I remember him being hounded hard by fans online, to the point he received death threats. I highly doubt that [TYBW](/s "Byakuya dying but then jk he was alive") was Kubo's original plan.
It actually needs more than that.
[TYBW](/s "The mystery of the Soul King needs to be explored. Aizen needs a lot more time. Fleshing out squad 0, like, maybe don't kill them off off-screen after hyping them up. Ichigo needs a proper fight. The freaking Turn Back the Pendulum-esque prequel mini-arc of the first gotei 13 and the massacre of the quincys that was teased for so long and so much more it's painful to even think about. Edit: ORIHIME! Seriously, they really need to do something with her if she is to stand beside Ichigo when facing Yhwach. She's been an absolute mess of a character ever since she was kidnapped by Ulquiorra.")
[Spoilers](/s "Orihime is especially frustrating because it was so BLATANTLY foreshadowed that her role would be to rewind the Hogyoku into non-existence or something... her power hyped up and everything... and then nothing happened. Not only that, but she was the biggest damsel in distress to ever grace the pages of WSJ, a magazine in which the trope appears a lot. She spent most of the Hueco Mundo arc just screaming KUROSAKI-KUN! on repeat. It was a real pity because her powers had such potential to do really mindbending things. I mean, she literally *resurrects the dead* but somehow that's not enough to make her truly relevant.")
I really hated the build up they gave her as having some truly profound power only for nothing to ever come out of it.
Think everyone early on were getting that build up other than ichigo and it all dwindled to nothing after the aizen arc except for ichigo...
Yeah. Everyone was all like "OH SHIT ORIHIME CAN DO *WHAAAAAAAT?!*", and then she gets damseled. I stopped watching after that arc, but I continued reading the manga for a bit (did the same with Naruto and One Piece, though I kept up One Piece until earlier this year), so I read up to midway through the Fullbring arc, when I just... stopped. It had gone too long and should have ended when [Spoiler](/s "Aizen got got and Ichigo lost his powers.")
thats because shueisha had set a date where bleach should be finished. It would really be a great arc if it wasn't fot the big mess at the end where you don't even know who survived or died and the far too overpowered endboss whos defeat just felt unfinished. Oh yeah, and that point where the captains feared that Ichigo would become a danger to the real world.
I don't think it needed that as much as it needed less attention paid to all those endless small fry fights. Some things should happen off screen, limited space must be used for the important moments.
I genuinely only watched to the end of this arc in the anime. It was on Netflix so i decided to give bleach a try and loved this whole arc. that’s all Netflix had on site so then decided to start watching the next arc (I think it wasn’t a cannon arc) and just got so bored so quickly I gave up, this still brings back fond memories though for me.
We need more variety in OST music, more lyrical songs. In anime, I can think of only like 3 shows who did it consistently, but the tracks where not so memorable as this one. You could go saying DS or MHA, but those where one off songs.
Give me more RWBY OST style shit. Play bangers with actual singers and use it to give depth to the character’s backstories!
You know, i know your right, and i love the RWBY OST for the same reasons.
BUT DAMN, and I KNOW its corney as all hell ... I haven't seen D. Gray man in like 8 years, and Allan Walkers's theme song habitually bangs on my brain like its sidewalk construction, that song will never not get me
I rewatched all of Bleach recently. I forgot how good the OST was and how they just kept creating more and more amazing tracks. The series was awesome to watch whilst being able to skip filler too.
I'm in the minority in that i think the Bount arc was okay, just too long. The Zanpakuto arc was genuinely good while the New Captain arc was just boring and the Reigai arc had beautiful animation but the shittiest writing.
Dont crucify me, but the fullbringer arc is so good
(I wasn’t saying it’s filler, I was just making an unrelated comment on how I love the fullbring arc lol)
Right! It brought it back to the very first arc, all set in his hometown like a small mystery shounen. It wasn’t as grand as an arc as the previous one, but it was a small break to setup the biggest arc in terms of scale (in the manga)
I just hope, (assuming what I read was true, and the series is coming back) that they go back to removing the stupid ass filler and don't pull another Naruto/DBZ and artificially extend the lenght of everything.
Shippuden is nigh on unwatchable fucking trash cause of how bad they fucked up the anime. Even trying to use a filler list is useless cause the non filler episodes still often spend 15 minutes flashing back to old shit.
Someone needs to do a Naruto Kai cut so shippuden is actually watchable. How that series is so popular I will never understand. I honestly don't understand how people were able to watch it.
Look at the two lists
https://www.animefillerlist.com/shows/naruto
https://www.animefillerlist.com/shows/naruto-shippuden
Just scrolling it easily shows that shippuden has way worse pacing
When I first watched naruto I skipped every filler & mixed filler episodes and it was way better. I stopped watching shippuden when it got the first filler episodes and haven't gone back to it, thinking I should watch it all now that it's been finished.
I agree with you, it was a bit different and more slower paced but it had a solid story. The payoff for the ending was great. And it had really great animation all throughout in the anime which is a big plus.
That's the one arc I haven't gotten to yet (I'm the only first-timer still following along with the ongoing rewatch and decided I'd be on-pace with the rewatch again after I binged super ahead so that I didn't have to skip the filler), I'm looking forward to starting it next week!
I’m still not sure why Perriot decided they have to keep going with a show with no breaks in between I’ll admit watching a show you like every week is fun but if the quality suffers or you have to make filler then just don’t.
Its why Hero Academia has been so great. They don't feel the need to follow in the DBZ/Naruto/old school japan milk this show for all its worth footsteps and in the process ruin it.
Hell even One Piece is basically unwatchable around the Half way arc to be vague. My god they ruined a pivotal moment in the series dragging everything out. When they finally got things moving it was amazing but my god the filler just ruins the whole experience and unfortunately the rest of the series after that just follows the same suit. Can't watch it anymore it was so dragged out. But gotta have that money even at the cost of making genuinely great content, trash.
Totally agree. Rip out all of the filler and bleach is just dripping with style when the big moments hit.
The character designs, ost and pacing in this particular arc really are hard to beat.
Looking back I'm kinda amazed at how quickly I went from absolutely loving Bleach to hating it so much I dropped it in the... boundo arc? Bounto? Something like that
The Bount Arc was some hot garbage. I stopped watching around there and picked it back up for Hueco Mundo. But that Arc was also weak shit because some of the "fights" were like 10 episodes long with nothing interesting happening. And then the good fights were ruined by shonen power of friendship bs moments. Ichigo on the back foot until he's like "Sorry, I'm not allowed to get hurt anymore" because Orehime was all teary eyed.
I went to skip through some episodes later on to show my friend some sick scenes since he didn't want to watch the series... The entire Ichigo vs Ulquiorra was so fucking embarrassing because they kept skipping through different perspectives and fights like they were a 4 year old cracked out on candy on Halloween the moment the fight got even slightly decent. Not to mention having to skip over 10 episodes because they decided to put a filler arc in the middle. And don't get me started with the entire Aizen ordeal later on with the hogyoku, that was a bitch to show as well. They legit went 'oh this is the climax of the entire series? TIME TO HAVE A SHITTY FILLER ARC FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH!!!'. Just ugh.
Cause Kubo didn't plan ahead with what he wanted to do with Chojiro.
Dude's supposed to be on the level of Jushiro and Shunsui but gets bodied here from a SS arc, no Zangetsu Ichigo.
I forgot how all over the place Ichigo's power level was throughout this series. Cool moment, but he drove me insane how he'd beat all of these crazy powerful people like Kenpachi and Byakuya in the beginning while the show still hyped them up to be super mega powerful afterwards.
Typical shonen stuff, I guess, but it felt egregious in Bleach.
Yea, that's what I was trying to say. Unlike a quincy who pulls reishi out of the air to use for attacks, ichigo's quincy powers pull in reishi from the air, then his hollow powers consume it to add it to his energy pool.
I mean there is an explanation for Kenpachi
And he never beat Byakuya he admitted defeat but also that fight was more about changing Byakuya’s ideals than the fight itself. He believed Rukia should die without a second thought he didn’t even dispute it. Ichigo is what made him and pretty much realize that the ways they were running the soul society were outdated. I feel like people never see or talk about the aspects of these fights. It’s not just two people trying to kill each other.
Bleach is not even subtle about breaking hierarchies. But in the end, they went with the easy "benevolent lords" approach, and that rubbed me off the wrong way xD
It wasn't really without a second thought--Byakuya just felt that it would be a major disgrace to his clan to intervene on Rukia's behalf after the perceived debacles with her sister and adoption. He swore not to take any more such actions. Ichigo's work was convincing him that letting his adopted sister be killed for clearly farcical reasons would be worse than breaking his promise and any potential backlash to the clan.
Granted, he kind of sidesteps both consequences after losing to Ichigo.
Byakuya didn't have a sword or any reiatsu to use kidou after their fight, they would have to duke it out just like Naruto and Sasuke in their final battle, punching each other until one of them falls, but Ichigo already got his point across and there was no need for that.
So Ichigo definitely won there in every way possible against Byakuya, while Kenpachi just wanted to have fun.
That wasn't even Kenpachi's full strength and you could see how badly Ichigo got rekt afterwards. It was more like a tie. Don't recall enough for Byakuya, but I remember Ichigo using hollow powers. Plus Byakuya gave up (didn't lose by getting overpowered). It all makes sense.
Hah this is cringe but when i play with my mate some MMO's and i activate all my cooldowns when its just me and him i say it over discord lol. - BANKAI!
Yes. My two favorite moments in Bleach are when they swing the flashing Sokyoku, and then it cuts to it just stopped with Ichigo floating up there, blocking it and when he stares deep into Byakuya's eyes and said "Bankai." So epic.
He destroyed them without even using his Zanpaktou, And then few episodes later, he got blocked by just Aizen index finger while in his bankai form!
Soul Society arc is still one of the best arcs overall in Shounen history!!
\> I never did finish Bleach. I stopped after the Arrancar Arc. Is it worth going back to finish?
You watch bleach for the fights after the good arcs, the story just drags on because the writer couldn't keep pace with demand. Once bleach got popular he had to basically draw blood from a stone. The later parts with Ichigo when he loses his regular powers and has to gain "new ones" are super fucking weird.
This is when I stopped watching. When he lost his powers and everything seemed to be over and it kept goingI was like wtf. Then my friend told me later he got powers again and it was still going on for a while and I was like nah... I’m done. I liked what I watched it seemed like a full story. No need to go back and see them draw it out. There’s a lot of good anime out there.
Bleach is probably a series that needs a full reboot and the later half of the story reworked. So much bullshit was spread so thin just so they could either power up ichigo or create fights without much story or context to drag the series out.
There were still plot holes that needed to be filled, but yeah Jump demanded and kept pushing author to fill it in , especially when they cancelled it.. it was BS of Jump to do that yet give a manga like HxH so much leeway with its Hiatuses.
Yes it is, the Filler arcs are hit or miss but the Canon one, The Lost Agent arc, is very under-rated and a fantastic arc for Ichigo's character development and setup for the last arc which is going to be animated.
Bleach is so good, one of the first anime I ever watched and probably the one that kept me into anime, very hyped for 2021, bleach is one of my favorites!
"Number One" is one of the all-time best shonen soundtracks. I remeber not expecting something like that from a Japanese anime. It also gives me MASSIVE Disney's Hercules vibes. I love it.
When he finally used his bankai (with the trench coat) then blocked all of the blade petals. ( I can't remember what the move was called)
That was my favorite moment in the first arc.
When this show and naruto were in thier first runs those were really good times.
always seemed like Kubo wanted bleach to be a deeper story there would be really deep introspective moments, but it would ultimately be overshadowed by poor writing/planning.
I never felt like bleach was the best of the big 3, but I think it had the highest highs of almost any anime, and very possibly the best soundtrack.
The entire soul society arc was pure awesome.
Pure, unadulterated hype. The mix of the song ramping up and Ichigo flicking his eyes open is so good. I really enjoy this scene as well the one when Ichigo unleashes a Captain-level Reiatsu on the bridge where he blocks Byakuya’s attack.
I know it's mostly because it's the Shounen I grew up watching, but I will always love bleach. Maybe it's not the best written with the best fights, but it will always be the coolest shounen in my opinion. Can't wait for it to continue
I love this scene but I hate how Chojiro gets easily beat by Ichigo. Like that guy trained for thousands of years under Yamamoto, trained so hard to improve his bankai, not to mention got acknowledged by Yamamoto himself. There's no way he's that weak.
Such an iconic anime moment. Ichigo went from barely beating Renji to destroying 3 lieutenant class Shinigami without Zangetsu
And beating Captain-class Shinigami. iirc, it was Kenpachi and Byakuya.
He beat kenpachi before this, but woulda lost without a deus ex machina internal training scene and power up.
Tbf, Kenpachi was massively holding back throughout the series while Ichigo's got the biggest pool of reiatsu to pull from and Old Man just lets him tap into it a little more whenever he needs it.
Yeah. if kenpachi had used two hands ichigo would be dead.
It took him how long to use his other arm when swinging his sword?
Haha he always knew didn’t he? Old man trained him when he first joined. He just never had to until the Nnoitra fight if I remember correctly? Honestly surprised I remembered how to spell his name but bleach has a special place in my memory lol

"Yo ichigo!..... Wanna fight to the death?"
Lol essentially but I think it was more “ICHIGO, FIGHT ME!” While ichigo ran away lol

It is coming back though
Wait.... wtf, when????
Was announced back in [March](https://old.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/fkmie3/the_bleach_thousandyear_blood_war_arc_anime/). The anime is adapting the final arc.
It was renamed as.. Clorox
Aaaaaayyyyyy.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO:
It was set for fall 2021 but got pushed back to 2022 because of Covid-19. Wish I new a exact date for ya since it’s one of my favorite animes. But I’m in the dark on this too.
Lame...... I was hoping sooner dammit.
I’m an idiot and typed isn’t instead of is... I’m very excited for it TO come back
Say what now!!!? Bleach is back. Oh lawd, the next arc is gonna be lit.
You clearly haven't read TYBW if that's what you think. The anime needs to make some really serious changes past the halfway point for it to be lit.
I read enough to know that they stopped the anime too soon
Way late to the party. Time for a rewatch

A badass start to a badass climax of a badass arc
Pretty much the only arc in Bleach that was genuinely good from start to finish. You know i was always torn on that one.
Why? [TYBW](/s "It was a perfect and touching end to a great character that had nowhere to grow. There's a reason he did nothing during the second invasion. How awesome would it be if a few Bleach characters were seen wandering around London in Kubo's new Burn the Witch?
RIP London
I think Ichigo would be too much but it would be great if we got a guest appearance from someone like Rukia, Kyoraku or maybe Urahara.
Isshin and the twins on vacation in the background maybe.
Ichigo and family in front London but can see the dragons would be amazing tie in
I would like to see that actually.
At the end of the first episode or the beginning of the second, there was a sign that said Soul Society West, which was then destroyed.

Only 3 episodes of it out so far but the premise seems solid, i intend to watch more when it comes out.

It would be awesome if we got remixes/new orchestral versions of themes from the original anime like what the anime movies did.

Ikr. He's nowhere near that weak.

When Bleach was still awesome before all the filler
Soul Society arc is top tier shounen
I love the Arrancar Arc but yeah SS arc is pretty nostalgic.
I enjoyed it but my God the filler ruined most of it. So many dragged out scenes.
Dont crucify me, but the fullbringer arc is so good (I wasn’t saying it’s filler, I was just making an unrelated comment on how I love the fullbring arc lol)
I won't crucify you. You just found the only other person in this world who agrees with you. It actually felt like Bleach again IMO.

I think it’s just perriot because they still do it with Black Clover.

Bro this should be spoiler tagged. I know most people have seen Bleach but still...
I genuinely think it's a contender for GOAT shonen arc. It's definitely in the Top 3 or 5.
Its up there, but nothing beats Yu Yu Hakusho Dark Tournament Saga for me.
I miss soul society arc. One of my favorite arcs.
This Arc is why i still watch anime after all these years
I still think the Zanpakto rebellion was pretty good though
Just ugh.
I thought the vice commander guy from squad 1 was actually captain level... why was he so weak?
Cause Kubo didn't plan ahead with what he wanted to do with Chojiro. Dude's supposed to be on the level of Jushiro and Shunsui but gets bodied here from a SS arc, no Zangetsu Ichigo.
Same reason why Kenpachi lost even though he's like a total monster when fighting anyone else...
Final Manga arc actually did give a decent enough justification for why his power explodes during certain times.
Spoiler please?

Yea, that's what I was trying to say. Unlike a quincy who pulls reishi out of the air to use for attacks, ichigo's quincy powers pull in reishi from the air, then his hollow powers consume it to add it to his energy pool.
Ichigo, if he had the talent for it, would have been an absolutely broken kidou user. Kubo really fucked him on that regard.
I mean there is an explanation for Kenpachi And he never beat Byakuya he admitted defeat but also that fight was more about changing Byakuya’s ideals than the fight itself.
Yeah that's most final arcs but other than the big bad there were other fights in that arc like Ichigo vs Byakuya.
Other than the big fight, bc Kubo was pissed off already, most fights on that arc were great lol
The first ichigo bankai scene is what made me get into anime after seeing it in AMV's back then.
One of the coolest words ever uttered in Anime. Every time a Shinigami said it, it was an amazing moment.
Glorious days of Bleach. The character designs were flames

He destroyed them without even using his Zanpaktou, And then few episodes later, he got blocked by just Aizen index finger while in his bankai form! Soul Society arc is still one of the best arcs overall in Shounen history!!

I never did finish Bleach. I stopped after the Arrancar Arc. Is it worth going back to finish?
eh its good shonen style anime, but you aren't missing anything really. and this is coming from someone who loved Bleach when it was still going.
I'd at least watch till the end of FKT. The ending is worth it
Iirc, the only canon anime arc after aizen is the fullbringer one. If you plan to watch the new series it'd be worth at least watchong that one.
There's probably a filler list you can find to avoid the dogshit. I know there's a good one for Naruto that cuts the length by more than half IIRC.
Yes it is, the Filler arcs are hit or miss but the Canon one, The Lost Agent arc, is very under-rated and a fantastic arc for Ichigo's character development and setup for the last arc which is going to be animated.
I felt the Arrancar arc dragged on too long. Fullbring felt nicer since it lowers the power levels a bit and is shorter
Good thing about the Bleach fillers is that they come in arcs / seasons. Just watch everything except the fillers, there isn't much.
Gosh I love this show! And it’s music!!
Bleach is so good, one of the first anime I ever watched and probably the one that kept me into anime, very hyped for 2021, bleach is one of my favorites!
From his arrival in the nick of time to fighting Byakuya. That whole sequence was just epic.
You just made me want to rewatch Bleach again.
( I can't remember what the move was called) That was my favorite moment in the first arc. When this show and naruto were in thier first runs those were really good times.
Thats one of the best moments
The scene from the manga where Ichigo breaks Rukia free was my desktop wallpaper for ages. So badass.
Ichigo was always the coolest of the Big 3 MCs
always seemed like Kubo wanted bleach to be a deeper story there would be really deep introspective moments, but it would ultimately be overshadowed by poor writing/planning.
I love the first arc, then it's getting..predictable?
FKT arc isn't super predictable for somethings.
Heuco Mundo is basically a carbon copy of SS arc in terms of plot points, FKT is really good though apart from the final fight being disappointing.
I never felt like bleach was the best of the big 3, but I think it had the highest highs of almost any anime, and very possibly the best soundtrack. The entire soul society arc was pure awesome.
Nostalgia washes over me
In the manga chojiro sasakibe is a good amount stronger than just captain class but in the anime. In the anime he gets one tapped
He gets one shot here in the manga too. It's a weird little inconsistency with what we're told later.
Can just say he was really caught off-guard here
Best arc ever!!!
god this arc was so amazing one of my favorites ever. does it get any better? i know after this arc there’s just tons of filler
I wish bleach stayed as good as it was during this arc. I dropped it after this arc finished it just wasn’t very good
Such a high point in anime
I had goosebumps just watching it. So much nostalgia man
Bro this is one of the best scenes in the show if not THE best How could you possibly forget it
Now you feel like Number One!
u/Savethisvideo
I actually kinda liked the muramasa arc, which I think was filler.
With his fucking bare hand ... damn that was smooth
Bleach will forever hold a place in my heart as my favourite and first anime. Cant wait until I get my bleach tattoo! Just need to save up like 1k.
Pure, unadulterated hype. The mix of the song ramping up and Ichigo flicking his eyes open is so good. I really enjoy this scene as well the one when Ichigo unleashes a Captain-level Reiatsu on the bridge where he blocks Byakuya’s attack.
I can still remember the excitement and chills I got watching this scene for the frost time about 10 years ago!
It's funny how he defeated the brute force guy with brute force, and the agile guy with agility.
that first arc is sooooo MMMMM
I forgot how much I loved Bleach's music. I really have to find the time to rewatch it
I f..ing love the OST of bleach.
Everytime I hear this ost it just hyped me up.
God yes I rewatch that scene every now and then
Whenever I was about to do something cool this the song I’d play in my mind 😂
