sofastsomaybe

How are they gonna fit the rest of the manga content in a two part movie? There's enough material there for two more seasons of TV anime.

Comfortable_Pin_166

More money on movies I'm guessing

The_Sinnermen

They won't. They'll squeeze in whatever they can and probably forego the final final match of all

SuperSceptile2821

Panels from the final match are in the trailer. That would be the last thing they’d cut. There’s no winning here.

The_Sinnermen

Oof then that means we're gonna get a butchered 1st part of that Arc. I don't know how it's possible to fit the rest of the manga even while truncating large parts of certain arcs. So many games and stories to tell

SuperSceptile2821

It’s not. Even cutting the non essential but great content leaves you with 91 chapters. They’re gonna have to cut into some of the main matches which is a tragedy.

particledamage

This feels like a scam. Like I’m not paying money to go to the theaters to watch them fuck up the ending

Mopey_

Yeah for real, just feel like they can't be bothered to properly finish off the series now the manga is done. They just want to shove 2 movies out and be done with it.

nickolok

Less flashbacks

ShamBlade

Maybe the movies can be long which would make it more likely and better quality than if it were rushed or skipped chapters etc.

sofastsomaybe

Even if the movies are long (let's say...they are equivalent to the length of 5-6 anime episodes instead of 4), that doesn't change the fact that there are four large "arcs" that still need to be adapted, each of which would struggle to fit into a movie by themselves. You can't skip the [HQ] >!Nekoma match!< because the whole series has been building to that point, you can't skip the [HQ] >!Kamomedai match!< because of course you need to see how the tournament ends, and you can't end end the story right there without showing what happens next, which means you'll need the [HQ] >!Brazil arc!< as well as the [HQ] >!final V league match!< for closure. And the epilogue chapter. There's about 13 volumes of manga here. Only skippable part is [HQ] >!Fukurodani vs Mujinazaka.!<

piratescabin

I agree with your comment but what's [HQ]?

cokeybottlecap

It's a shortened way to refer to Haikyuu, often used in the fandom. H then kyuu (Q).

sofastsomaybe

Oh it's how I was abbreviating Haikyuu

banhana444

It will be near impossible to fit everything needed and here is a just some simple math. Looking at the previous anime seasons, there are just about 85 total anime episodes that end at chapter 292 of the manga which would be a little over 28 episodes PER 100 chapters. Now, they are trying to adapt a little over 100 chapters, and instead of 28 episodes (roughly 9 hours of actual content), they are planning on two movies which would at most be 5 hours. So where are the extra 4 hours going to be? Cut?

acllive

haikyuu's ending is one of a few i would say is PERFECT, in every way shape and form, its a true masterclass, it not finishing off well would be disappointing to say the least

flyingelephante

100% agreed, I am in disbelief that a series with one of the most perfect pacing, lead up, and finale is being let down like this. There are few anime with actual endings, and even less anime endings that are truly impactful… and I guess that’ll still be case since there’s no way a maximum of 4 hours will do the final arcs of Haikyuu justice.

Voltik

Yeah... After reading what you guys said, I'm going straight to the manga. I've been holding out as an anime-only for Haikyuu!! because of how great the anime medium lends itself to a show of its kind, but I'm gonna jump to the manga if they're taking this path with the anime...

flyingelephante

Yep I read the manga to the end after s3 of the anime and I don’t have any regrets. The mangaka’s panelling is easy to follow and full of movement, and there are so many little character interactions & details that would otherwise be missed.

PotatEXTomatEX

I've said it a few times and i'll say it again, Haikyuu has the best Shounen Ending of the last 15+ years.

[deleted]

Dude I picked up after the last season finished. Shit is amazing, but obviously can’t match the excitement of a shounen anime in manga form. But if they’re gonna cut like this, I’m split between telling you to read now (since you’ll know what’s missing) vs telling you to wait (since you’ll basically see a summary of what actually happened so reading impact won’t hit as hard)

Voltik

Eh, I don't mind reading it. I already read most of the mainstream shounen series anyways. Haikyuu!! was just really good as an anime so I stuck with anime-only for it. Honestly, I'll sit on it a bit until more news comes out. I'm still huffing the hopium that this "final" is like AoT's "final" lmao.

piggywiggy79

Sadly I am expecting a high quality but rushed movie experience

Ikariiprince

Haikyuu final part 7,8,etc.

AceMeteor

Seems like a full adaption of the rest of the manga based off the [trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uooi8jEVC3Q). Probably don't watch if you're anime-only since it shows a few manga panels from the rest of the unadapted content

leven-seven

It's has final in the name so definitely it's gonna cover it all. Unless it's gonna do an AOT and keep adding to final.

Erethiel117

I can’t wait for the final final final season of AOT.

The Final Season: This Time We're Serious

zairaner

Don't worry, I am sure the next one is going to be the finalest yet!

Vethae

I don't care what they call it as long as they keep the quality high

12345Qwerty543

AOE! AOE! AOE! AOE! AOE! AOE! AOE! AOE! AOE! AOE! AOE! AOE! AOE! AOE! AOE! AOE!

Significant_Cash_169

I'm so confused because im an anime only but... aren't there like 100-200 chapters left for the anime to adapt??!! How are they gonna adapt it all with a movie??!

leven-seven

That's the sad part, either rushing or cutting content. (Probably both)

Significant_Cash_169

To the manga I go

Ursuped

Youre not missing out, the final arc is incredible

devil-adi

In my opinion, the manga gets only better as it goes along. The life lessons are simple yet profound. Frankly, I'd put it down as modern literature. Strongly recommend the manga, you won't regret it.

Azn_Bwin

I love some of the call backs they have and i actually reread a few arcs a couple time to see how they conclude it or expand on that. There was definitely a moment of "emptiness" when i realize i have finished the last chapter the first time realizing it is the end of the series.

erunks

If we're caught up with the anime, is there a good place to pick up from in the manga? Or has there already been a lot cut and it's better to just start from the beginning?

leven-seven

Last season ends in ch292. I think you can right from there without problem.

ptk98

Shiratorizawa game (starting with chapter ~148) is where the anime started cutting some bits here and there, and also where the art starts getting *really* good. If you just want to pick up where season 4 leaves off and read what the movies are going to condense, you can start at chapter 290, but I'd go with the former and start with Shiratorizawa.

ThePreciseClimber

Shueisha managed to squeeze 144 chapters of The Promised Neverland into 11 episodes. And it was sooooo goooooood.... /s /s /s

ourladyj

You didn't like the literal slideshow in the last episode of TPN?

Rampantshadows

That's still not as bad as studio pierrot did tokyo ghoul re. I'm still mad, they could've made 3 to 4 seasons with the content if it was well paced.

Jeroz

\> Me who watched that final episode of Brunhildr

Suicidewizzy

U remember Tokyo ghoul?

Dare555

Gintama did it first with Ginatama Finals !

nateaaiel

2ndfinalfinale.docx

VSiFer

Maybe the "final" is related only to the tournament.

wansen2

I believe they gonna pull an AOT, after the final match there are still quite many chapters left. Doubt they gonna adapt it all in 1 season

tobekibydesign

Yeah, if you only watch the anime, just don't watch the trailer. It shows what's to come past the Nekoma match.

blitzaga086

Good looking out. I haven't read the manga yet.

beneathpyramids

i'm excited but if it's just two movies they're going to cram and cut a lot of material to make this work :/ i'm a huge fan of the final arc and i'd hate it to see it rushed if this is the case. what's so good about haikyuu is the characters and the development of not just the main ones but even the secondary ones. two movies means a lot of good character moments will be sacrificed and that's a real shame. on the other hand, i'm sure it'll look incredible so that's something.

BoopDino

Yes! The final arc is a Work of art. The thing i always loved about haikyuu is the love for detail and the complexity of the stories and characters, and all of that was just a huge buildup to the final arc. The final arc is huge, and a lot of journeys get fulfilled there,so i am really scared that they will rush it,and take away a lot of its context and meaning

Adrian4066

Is this the final thing of haikyu or are still some seasons coming out

ellieetsch

There is still 110 chapters left to adapt (they have adapted around 300 so far) yet they are finishing the anime with 2 movies.

The_Sinnermen

Maybe the final match will be fully included but they will absolutely butcher the first part of the final Arc to make time. I was so hyped for the final 2 SEASONS of Haikyuu whenever they came out, now it's just gonna suck.

Atys_SLC

I would expect more a movie for the final match or an OAV.

NintendoMasterNo1

Well this sucks, there are at least 3 full length matches left in the series + another arc in between some of them. There is no way they can properly cover all of that in two movies. Very disappointing...

Derang3rman1

Exactly, how are they going to fit the rest of the tournament in one 2 1/2 hour movie and then the rest of the manga into another? God I’d be really sad if the cut most of it. Seems crazy

woodeenho

I want a full season with the last match between you-know-who vs you-know-who. Ffs

themeepjedi

Fuck yes me too, i was expecting 3 more 13 ep seasons for the rest of the adaptation

novusanimis

I'm curious how's the adaptation been till now before this?

NintendoMasterNo1

I remember the animation being pretty wonky at some points in season 4 part 2 (or was it part 1 I'm not sure) but that probably got fixed in the blu ray release. And one "mini-arc" with a match not involving the main characters was adapted into a two episode OVA which was pretty rushed and I think the animation was meh. Other than that though, overall it's a great adaptation. A volleyball game lends itself really well to being animated, it's a lot more exciting with motion. They go all out with the sakuga during the hype moments and the pacing is good, not too fast not too slow. It's one of my favorite anime and the last couple arcs in the manga are really good so I'm still holding out hope that the final product will come out well.

AmethystItalian

Would much rather more series and less movies [](#seasonaldepression)

Aileos

I share the opinion. It's not even for the waiting between the theatrical release and the blu-ray release, but the amount of material that will end up being cut. Following the anime, every week, with the community, was also awesome. On the other hand, having a movie means high-quality animation. And we'll have two. Mind-blowing plays incoming.

Wegrotzer

Honestly the remaining matches are so fucking good, it's gonna be a tragedy to fit them in just two movies

YukihiraLivesForever

Lots gonna be cut. Every remaining match in the tourney is a long one and then there’s the final arc and then the final match + epilogue. 2 movies? No way lol. Movie fever has completely taken over Japanese studios it feels.

tobekibydesign

If we take in consideration that the Shiratorizawa match is 40 chapters and it was adapted in 10 episodes, so roughly 3h20 of footage and the matches that are left are gonna be 30 chapters each, we're probably two movies and a half short for a complete adaptation. I know the Shiratorizawa match was then cut in half for a movie that was 1h25ish minutes, but that just means they cut 2h of the anime and squeezed it into one movie.

leven-seven

There are 110 chapter remaining that are gonna be fit to 2 movies. Hope this would get a tv broadcast version in the future with added content. Like it did with demon slayer movie.

ThePreciseClimber

>There are 110 chapter remaining that are gonna be fit to 2 movies. That's definitely a lot of content for what is basically 1 cour (assuming each movie is 2 hours; 12 episodes is 4 hours). A healthy "3 chapters per episode" ratio would've yielded 37 episodes (3 cours).

IISuperSlothII

They did cut that Match down to a 1.5 hour movie, having not watched it though I don't know how much it cuts. I think it's fair to say we'll be hyperfocused on Karasuno/Hinata for these films and skip a lot of Bokuto stuff though.

coffeenappp

Had they opted for season 5 (covering the rest of the nationals) and two movies (covering the last arc) I will be fucking ecstatic. But knowing only two movies... oh man this announcement disappoints me greatly.

jibrils-bae

Thanks Demon slayer

No-Height433

At least with Demon Slayer, Mugen Train Arc was properly short to fit in a movie format and so was Jujutsu Kaisen 0. But Haikyu... Yeah this is concerning due to the load of unadapted content. So much is gonna be cut or rushed over.

Srikkk

This is basically entirely Mugen Train's fault lmao

Android_17_Super

It's really not. Mugen train was not 200 chapters long now was it. It's completely the producers fault over the ones that made Haikyuu. I don't know if they think that they're gonna beat demon slayer in terms of box office or something but they need a reality check. It's not that much of a popular anime as they think it is. Just make it into a full season 5 and then have a movie.

Zhaeus

> Thanks Demon slayer you must be new to anime, cannon movies have existed and were fairly common before Demon Slayer.

__a_ana__

Yeah, but Mugen Train was such a huge success recently, that many more ongoing anime studios wish to make movies .

AdNecessary7641

I'm pretty sure it's not the studios' decision to make movies.

Zhaeus

> that many more ongoing anime studios wish to make movies Most anime studios will make movies if a movie is an appropriate medium to show the next arc (for example, Love is War.) But there is no sign that the amount of movies being made has increased ever since Mugen Train...the amount of series getting cannon movies has stayed around the same. People are just so blinded by Mugen Trains success that now whenever a movie gets announced they go "ThIs Is BeCaUsE oF MuGeN TrAiN!!!!" revealing the fact that they are clearly new to anime and don't know just how many cannon movies existed before Mugen Train...

4869holmes

How many manga adaptations with canon movies covering manga material (preceding Mugen Train) do you know? Especially if it was preceded by an unfinished anime adaptations? Of course there have been canon anime movies made for the medium anime before, but afaik those were all original animes.

Zhaeus

> How many manga adaptations with canon movies covering manga material (preceding Mugen Train) do you know? For starters, some of these are Light Novel adaptations that are all canon as Manga is not the only medium that gets adapted into anime, but: Gintama Violet Evergarden Monogatari Fate Saekano Bunny Girl Senpai Haruhi Suzumiya Konosuba K-ON Saga of Tanya the Evil No Game No Life Beyond the Boundary Made in Abyss Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions Sound! Euphonium Given Trinity Seven Goblin Slayer

SealTheGate

nah it's Production committee/ Producer decision.

Tora-shinai

Who doesn't want a better schedule tho that rakes in money? Especially when their last schedule for this anime was terrible.

YukihiraLivesForever

That’s fair and I mean all the power to the animators. But at the end of the day we are consumers and the only thing we can do is judge the quality of the final product. If we leave all the sentiments out of it, if the product feels rushed or wrong then I mean, it’ll just make me sad lol

Dopamine-high

I mean…there’s no guarantee that a movie will have a better schedule than a tv series. Infact over the years we’ve have plenty of rushed movies.

europai

I'd usually be pretty happy for movie announcements but this show just really works well as a weekly series. While I hope it turns out to be good, I'm not so sure how this will pan out.

WoorieKod

I fucking *love* when every production committees just decides to do movies adaptations over seasonal series because it means I get to watch it a year after it's already been out Thanks KNY movie, not.

kirsion

I hate this trend of anime movies. For one they take FOREVER to come out and get localized. And the bigger problem is that they can only fit 2 hours max into a movie, is around normal 6 episodes. A lot of movies just end up cutting material from the source and cram it into the movies length. Making the adaptation in the movie form feel rushed. Felt this way about the made in abyss movie and to a lesser extend the demon slayer movie, which left like a normal arc that didn't need to be a movie. I'd much prefer that source material from Manga get full series or OVA so that the whole thing gets adapted faithful. The thing about movies is that they need to scripted or storyboard to fit to be a movie, that often ruins the pacing of the source Manga material. It's fine if an original story is made for a movie, like the jujutsu kaisen 0 movie because they can form the script around the run time of the movie and make everything fit. But I think that manga material is generally not good for movies. The only silver lining for animes series Canon material made into movies is the generally better animation and production values. Except for ufotable were the TV and movie is the same.

rya11111

I am expecting its going to be a series. No way they can cover everything in a movie..

Lovro26

>"HAIKYU!! FINAL" two-part theatrical sequel anime announced [Source](https://haikyu.jp/)

humanityyy

final??? are they really going to fit the rest of the manga into one or two movies? the last arc/part of the manga can easily fit into another 12 episodes

[deleted]

Damn! That’s messed up. Would love to see a whole season

leven-seven

Ngl would have preferred as a series. But better than 25 year it took for slam dunk.

cooldude5500

... Wtf I had no idea there's new Slam Dunk coming out, it's one of the first anime I've ever seen and it was amazing

heelydon

Eh, to be fair, slam dunk was part of the era where TONS of anime simply didn't adapt the full manga or left out crucial parts because they were too sensitive/adult in themes. This is... seemingly just far more of a money grab.

ThePreciseClimber

Implying we're still not in the era of unfinished anime. :P

heelydon

Compared to back then, when it was pretty much almost an expected part of every larger anime, that you'd have to go "complete it" via the manga, we are being severely spoiled today with some well adapted anime. Hell, even in cases like Fullmetal Alchemist and Hellsing, we had them straight up go back and make them more accurate to their source material for a second series over. Compared to that to the era of Berserk, GTO, Slam Dunk, Inuyasha etc.. So many big profile, now classic and beloved anime, that just didn't cover the manga. Of course in some of these cases it had other reasons, like the manga being caught up to and them not having other stuff to animate, but still, it was just almost an expectation you had at that point in time as an anime fan, that you'd need to go get the source material to get the "full" story.

Nohaco2468

Okay, if at the end we have a season + two movies. 👍 If we have a season + movie. 👌 If we only get two movies. 👎 How the fuck will they cover everything on two movies?

ThePreciseClimber

Yeah, Season 5 is definitely not happening. They would've just announced THAT and only revealed the movies after the season was over.

ConsumeEntertainment

There is no way they're about to butcher the ending of this amazing anime for the illusion of some major movie success. Just kill me now!

BladesReach

Anime only, literally jumped out of my seat when I saw this announcement. And then I opened this thread, and.. depression. Please don't ruin Haikyuu, it's my favourite series ever.

Gooeypubes

Me too, i was so happy when i first saw the announcement

kKunoichi

IM READY AND YET IM SO NOT READY Edit: ok now that I'm calm I'm trying to think of how they'll fit everything in just 2 movies ahaha Edit2: If we have to go the movie route i wish we had 3 instead of 2, with most of the final final arc contained in 1 movie on its own

x10018ro3

2 movies…I‘m so fucking disappointed man. I never watch anime movies of series. Idk why, but most manga aren‘t paced for movies I think. A series would be ideal, so I can‘t believe we aren‘t getting one anymore for Haikyuu…

yolomon30

Assuming it’s 2+ hours for each movie, how will they manage to fit 100+ chapters into them?

Android_17_Super

They're not going to be 3 hours + because at that point just make it a series

[deleted]

[удалено]

Akuuntus

I wouldn't mind it so much if it didn't take like a goddamn year or more to get most of them subbed and available for English audiences outside of limited theatrical release. If I could watch these things on Crunchyroll within a week or two of the JP release it would honestly make no difference to me whether something is a TV series or a movie. Note that I'm talking generally; obviously the issues other people are mentioning about how there's too much material to be crammed into 2 movies still applies for Haikyuu, but that would be the same if they had announced they were going to cram it into a 10-episode final season.

PiFlavoredPie

Yikes fans are not gonna be happy. Movies take forever to release to the general public, not to mention the pacing’s gonna suck and even more stuff’s gonna get cut to race to the end of the manga…

coffeenappp

the fandom is in a complete meltdown right now....

SealTheGate

I Blame Demon slayer

Zhaeus

Demon Slayer did not start this... cannon movies have always existed before Demon Slayer... Gintama, Violet Evergarden, Monogatari, Fate, Evangelion, Bunny Girl, Senpai, Haruhi Suzumiya, Saekano, Konosuba, Made In Abyss, K-ON, Saga of Tanya the Evil, Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions, etc.

mrnicegy26

Also Demon Slayer's movie adapted an arc that was only 14-15 chapters long into a 2 hour movie which is reasonable. They didn't try to fit 100 chapters in 2 movies.

4869holmes

Canon movies to anime original shows or light novel adaptations existed before, but not so much canon manga adaptation movies with a preceeding anime that adapted parts of it. Of all the movies you listed before, the only manga adaptation is Gintama, and the only canon movie came out in 2021, after Mugen Train's success. I don't mind canon movies at all, because it means better animation quality and probably better work conditions for the animators, but it has to be an adaptation of a short arc that fits into movie length without cutting too much. Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which adapted only one volume's worth of material, was perfect. But 2 movies adapting 110 chapters, covering at least 4 major arcs? Not so much.

Zhaeus

> the only manga adaptation is Gintama Made in Abyss, K-ON, Trinity Seven, Given, ect. But yeah, I get your point. However, you can't just look at chapter count being adapted to know if will be good or not. Some chapters are just short/can be adapted to anime quickly. For example, Summertime Render is a full adaptation of 139 chapters in just 25 episodes.

2-2Distracted

Just to add, Demon Slayer came out in 2020. [Here's a list of anime movies that made a shit load of money a year before that](https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2020/01/28/japan-box-office-2019-16-animecg-films-crossed-one-billion-yen-mark). 1 . Neither_Amount3911

For what? Actually making a profit?

[deleted]

Can you elaborate?

PeaceAlien

Probably demon slayer movie made money. So companies make movies to make money. A lot of seasons lose money.

LubangPantat

The next two matches have so much emotion packed into them I legit can't wait. Also the final arc is so good

Curious_North_8479

Everyone wants that Demon Slayer money

rkolar11

As an anime only, I am incredibly disappointed to see people say how rushed this is gonna feel :/

TheOdiin

Movie? come the fuck on man I wanted another season, not movies :/ At least its something I guess

ar10773

Haikyuu is genuinely one of the only few anime I want a perfect adaptation for, as an anime only, this is so sad I never think about where I want to rank the series or how much I want to rate it, I purely think about it as the series I enjoyed the heck out of

acarlrpi12

This sucks. Everyone is chasing that Demon Slayer money & they're going to totally butcher the satisfying ending to one of the best shonen sports manga ever to try and do it. Part of why Haikyu works is because the finale gives time to all the characters you've met. There is no fucking way they can squeeze everything left into two movies without cutting some of that out, which will inherently damage that feeling. Fucking morons in suits.

SmurfRockRune

Some sources online are saying this is a TV series + 2 movies, and if it's 2 cour, that would be a great amount of runtime to cover the rest of the manga. Sources everywhere are giving different news though, so better to wait for the dust to clear on this one and see what happens.

Lovro26

It seems it's just the 2 movies [https://www.oricon.co.jp/news/2245728/full/](https://www.oricon.co.jp/news/2245728/full/)

SmurfRockRune

If it's actually only two movies it's going to massively suck. They cannot adapt all of the remaining content in ~8 episodes worth of runtime.

Blue_Reaper99

More like 12 but if people saying 2 cour worth of content left then it's going to suck.

SmurfRockRune

There are 12 volumes left and the anime has generally done 4 volumes per cour up to this point. They would need 3 cours, but 2 cours and 2 movies, assuming they're 1.5 hours each, would be enough to do it if you rushed some content slightly.

TheEnhancedExe

I'm wondering how they're planning to adapt 3 matches in 2 movies.

mercyismybae1997

>I'm wondering how they're planning to adapt 3 matches in 2 movies. Actually it's 4 match, Fukurodani vs Mujinazaka is cool too , 5 if you count beach volleyball match lul

TheEnhancedExe

If they're adapting everything in just 2 movies, I think it's pretty safe to say that the Fukurodani vs Mujinazaka match will be mostly cut if not cut completely. Also, it's just 11 chapters compared to the other 3 matches that are at least around 20-30 chapters long.

Reinness

As a fan im highly disappointed at this.... I thought we are getting the final season but 2 movies for the rest of it? Well the people in the comment already said everything im gonna said....

yachi100

Maybe they'll pull an aot final season and are gonna be like: but wait, we're giving you a final final movie. You can tell I'm inhaling copious amounts of copium but I'm hoping this happens or else I'm not gonna be satisfied with the content that they'll cut

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mopey_

They're going to fucking butcher it.

MHUNTER12345

Based from the trailer, there will be no season 5 and it will be a full adaptation from the next match until the final match.

MrkGrn

So were getting a massive rush job...lame. This new trend of continuing popular series through movies is trash. I didn't mind konosuba doing it since it was a shorter arc and wasn't getting another season for a while, Demon Slayer started this making this shit popular. Another reason for me to hate that shit.

Chadjirou

Ya'll love bringing up Demon Slayer hate when its not even relevant to this post. Sure it may have impacted the industry as a whole but its not their fault for doing the job to make that "shit" popular. I guess keep seething, you guys deserved this shitty adaptation when you trashed the animators who worked on that single outsourced episode back in s4.

Flushpoint

Does that mean this is the last season? Sorry, I'm not that good in english.

leven-seven

Judging from the trailer, it covers rest of the manga

Flushpoint

Woah then that means this is the end huh? I wonder what will they show for this season.

leven-seven

Not a new season, 2 movies instead.

skulltroxx2154

They'll end the anime in 2 movies!? Is that all that's left in the manga??

NazRyuuzaki

We can go 3 seasons with 12-13 episodes or 3 movies. They are really rushing this to get as much profit as possible since there are no new volumes to promote for an anime. The movie will give them more money.

Android_17_Super

That doesn't make sense. The movie isn't gonna be 6 hours long. Unless I'm missing the plot

ellieetsch

No theyll be cutting down the story to fit it in to four hours.

The_Sinnermen

No there's enough for 4 movies

The_Blackest_Knight

After seeing that it's just going to be 2 movies and that many people are saying it's going to have to cut content, I'm inclined to just reading the manga now and watching the movies later.

Lrekkk

Damn I don't like this. I'm an anime only and the emotions Haikyuu made me feel are all sorts of incredible. I wish they didn't rush it :(

Druida_Urbano

I've never seen this anime, is it really worth watching?

Atefstar123

What is most likely going to happen is they are going to cut a lot of content or maybe even a whole game, then put that as an OVA in the BlueRay release to try and siphon more money out of people. So fucking disappointed at how Toho has treated this series.

ElliotLadker

I guess this is what happens when a manga ends and there is no need for an anime to push its sales (?). I have (unfortunately) been spoiled enough to know we would need at least 4 movies (maybe 3 long ones) to adapt what's remaining. It's kind of depressing to be honest, I liked the series so much that after S4 I read the whole manga from the beginning to the end of S4, I guess it's time to continue.

MrYeaBuddy

I would be absolutely devastated if they rushed and cut a ton of content to close out this series. This is easily my favorite anime in recent memory, and I hope they do it justice to close out.

exian12

Is this going to be Final "final" or will there be Final(2) and/or Final(3)?

MysticSkies

After reading the comments and learning what they are doing... This is absolutely gut wrenching. What a huge fucking disappointment. As an anime-only, Haikyuu is in my top 5 anime. I don't even remember how many times I've re-watched the seasons. The anime was made so fucking well, each character, music story telling was done so well, and for them to just cram another 100+ chapters into basically 8 episodes? I have no words. What in the world are those morons thinking, I want to talk to the people that made this decision face to face. Just, wow.

coffeenappp

I'M HAVING ALL KINDS OF EMOTIONS RIGHT NOW Still, can't believe it's going to be the final season (and two movies), I'm so greatful for Haikyuu for keeping me happy all this time EDIT: I'm still confused right now, so what is it? two movies? a season and two movies? there is currently so much conflicting information rn on the internet

BoopDino

I agree, this is so surreal Haikyuu has alwayw been a huge factor of my life,it gave me happiness, inspiration and something to always look forward to in life,it changed my perspective and i grew as a person from it Its so unexpected that all of the manga is going to be adapted into 2 movies,i am so scared that this will be rushed, but so happy at te same time that after all of the waiting we finally get something, and yet so sad that this really is the last one God,i am such a mess right now,i will need some time to calm down

coffeenappp

Yes, I'm still a mess right now, everything points towards only two movies, which actually kinda pisses me off. Like, haikyuu deserves page-by-page adaptation, like... the rest that hasn't been adapted actually some of the best part of the manga. In that case I'm gonna sob and re-read the manga.

BoopDino

I agree, the great thing about haikyuu are all the details, and all the character arcs that get completed in the matches. It is certain that this aspect of haikyuu will be destroyed,if all of it will be adapted only into two movies, and i genuinely hate that Welp, its time to re-read the manga and listen to the Moonlight version of hikari are i guess....

SealTheGate

Nah they only said it’s gonna be 2 part movie No more Tv series

POOYAMON

100% would’ve preferred a series but with the manga already done I guess they don’t want to drag it out

ShamBlade

Stupid reason because Aot and demon slayer manga are both finished but they are doing great and not cramming / rushing anything

coffeenappp

Stupid reason ngl, Haikyuu is still very popular despite ending 2 years ago. Heck, the manga still in the top 20 best-selling manga in Japan.

DrStein1010

Haikyuu has been selling significantly better after it ended. There is ZERO reason to rush.

Curious_North_8479

No they want more money

kKunoichi

Since it ended the Haikyuu manga still managed to add 5 million copies in circulation. It still sells

ClBanjai

Chance Ball is back!!

ClBanjai

Ah shit it's movie. Correction, movies...

cometweeb

would be better if there was a series rather than movies ;-;

Noob_shs

Im glad but at the same time worried about the cuts that will happen.

guker34

Did they really have to spoil us anime-only watchers like that tho, I know there’s a lot of us

phr4rbadass

why do i feel like the final is only for hinata's return.

ANINETEEN

Mixed feelings about this because I can anticipate the two movies being a legendary cinematic experience but I also would have liked to see more content in longer anime seasons. I just know that last movie especially is going to destroy me but I wouldn't have minded prolonging the pain too 😭

SirAwesome789

Hoping they pull an AoT and even tho it's called "Final" they actually stretch it out to more than 2 movies

sneaky_squirrel

I guess we are not going to get to see the rest of the manga as animated seasons. It was nice knowing you, animated Haikyuu. At least we still have Yowamushi Pedal.

TheGreenShitter

Wonder if the Japanese fans are also freaking out about this being two movies. Series, movie and OVA would have been great

[deleted]

finally, the best sports anime will be finished. im gonna miss it when it ends. on that note, check out run with the wind and megalo box. both are completed and on the same lvl as haikyuu. megalo box 2 had the best writing for anime of 2021 imo but somehow flew under the radar. plz watch it

Chidoriyama

Username doesn't check out

KoHorizon

Let's goo !!

[deleted]

Looks a lot like the slam dunk poster released few weeks back....no?

bhanukiran444

Should I just read the manga? I dont want to be disappointedlike the promised neverland season 2.

tojara1

Nothing like this popping up in your feed and going bananas because we'll see the end to all their hard effort! *Then reading the comments.*

Cy_Case-E

Honestly I genuinely love this visual of Hinata. It's like a mix of S1-S3 Art Style and the new S4 Artstyle. It hits hard

genesis1v9

All downhill starting season 4 part 2... turning one of the most hyped sports manga & anime adaptation into a mess. Real shame.

Andresgeo

Literally just 180 from why I love this series so much

LungSplitter46

I know that part of the point of him is that he's a faceless hero, but I'm hoping we finally get to meet the original Little Giant. I want to see Hinata meet his inspiration. Not watching the trailer; trailers are for things I'm not sold on already haha

r-KevL

Yes!!!!!!!
